Party platter - 48 pieces which comes with 30 pieces of sashimi and choice of 3 rolls
Holly C.

This place does not disappoint in their quality of sashimi. I have ordered on two separate occasions here for their platters - 32 pieces which comes with 20 piece sashimi and choice of 2 rolls and the 47 pieces which comes with 30 pieces of sashimi and choice of 3 rolls. There were a variety of sashimi which i like but you were not able to select. I'm not a fan of octopus and I had two pieces of that. The sashimi was were good cuts and texture was great.

Love this place, simple and unassuming but surprisingly good food! Friendly service too. Start with Agedashi Tofu, fresh and delicately fried. Whitefish tempura is excellent as well. Junmai Ginjo sake is light and refreshing with a pleasant aftertaste. Unagi Don is my favorite dish, green tea ice cream for dessert. Perfect!

Yellowtail Jalepeno roll comes with pickled jalepenos. Found a hair in my sushi. Chicken was also terrible

Cozy neighborhood spot with good service. The food here has always been delicious, I prefer their sushi options, their entrees like chicken teriyaki and dumplings have also been very good.

Ordered take out here many many times and still very impressed with the quality of the sushi and sashimi. One of my current favorite places for sushi. My usual faves are Middle Village roll, Woodhaven roll, Sexy girl roll, and Eel cake roll. I also add in 30 pieces salmon sashimi (considered as 15 orders of salmon) 10 pieces mackerel/saba (considered as 5 orders of mackerel/saba). When your order is $30 or more to go only, you get a free California roll. When you order $50 or more to go only, you get a free Dragon Roll. Probably ordered from here to go a handful of times and will continue to order from here! It's just unfortunate that after each time I order to go, the prices increase by AT LEAST a dollar. The special rolls are delicious but it's getting too expensive. Still continue to come back though! Never sat in to eat but it's usually not busy/packed around 4/5pm when I go pick up.

Got their sushi platter which included the 7 rolls of your choice, dragon roll, and a complimentary California roll. They are very efficient here! My platter was ready within 20-25 minutes of calling them. I appreciated that they didn't put too much rice and the rolls stayed together nicely when picking them up to eat. My boyfriend and I almost finished the whole platter by ourselves cause every roll was so good! My favorites were the dragon, the salmon avocado, and the spicy scallop roll. A new staple for me when I'm in the middle village area and craving sushi.

Pretty solid Japanese spot. I got a salmon teriyaki and fried calamari appetizer. Salmon teriyaki was a decent portion with soup and salad and a scoop of rice. It was juicy and not over cooked. The fried calamari was so so it reminded me of mozzarella sticks you get at school lunch. If you order over $50 you get a free 8 piece dragon roll ( huge steal)!

I was told about this restaurant from a friend in the neighborhood so I decided to try it out. They did ask for Covid vaccinations and photo id which I respect. They sat us right away and the waitress was so sweet and attentive. It's a small nice designed clean place. I definitely have to say this is my new to go to sushi place. They also gave us a plate of spicy shrimp tempura on the house was extra nice! The food was amazing with a great delivery and great portions. I'll definitely be back soon !

Service here is great and if you pay in cash, there is a slight discount. I came during their lunch deal and it was ~$30pp for AYCE sushi. We got a variety of their nigiri, a couple of their rolls, and tried a bunch of their appetizers. I wasn't the biggest fan of their takoyaki or their sushi pizza as I felt that it was mostly just flour and rice--with barely any sauce. On the other hand, their unagi fried rice was flavorful, their nigiri and rolls had an amazing fish:rice ratio, and their fried scallops were delicious. Overall, unbeatable deal and solid quality sushi. Would definitely come back!

The staff were amazing, very attentive, and welcoming. I was shocked at how busy it was around 1:30pm, which was a good sign that the food was good. They have an extensive Asian/sushi menu, including a separate lunch special menu. We both ordered the lunch special that included a soup, small salad and option of meat, rice, and a sushi/California roll. I don't eat seafood, so I ordered the cucumber roll, and my friend had the avocado roll. This was my first time eating three cucumber rolls, and surprisingly, it was tasty. I enjoyed my entire meal, and it was fulfilling. I was able to take a small to go bag of my rice and teriyaki chicken. My friend ate all of hers and we were both satisfied with our meal and the service. We both enjoyed our refills of the hot tea throughout our meal, and you had the option of water as well. This is definitely a cool spot to check out, and I would definitely return to check out some other menu items.

I decided to try sushi on this adventure. I learned a while ago that not all sushi is raw. I dont like raw food. I added in the instructions to make sure nothing is raw or spicy and the obliged. I pd for the fast delivery because cant really heat sushi and wow it was fast. Took them 17mins to arrive and took me 7 to eat it lol. All was good!

For example, if one roll has eight pieces I wanted them to put four pieces in each container. The lady was very nice, but she said they could not do that. So I ordered the rolls to stay and then asked for two containers and split them up myself. While I was waiting, they gave me a complementary piece of fish tempura. It was very tasty. I ordered the Queen's roll and the Myrtle Ave roll to split. I ordered this for someone who does not like Law fish. I personally prefer raw fish. Then I got a California roll and a tuna roll. I thought the Myrtle Avenue roll was kind of bland. The mango on it didn't taste sweet enough. It really didn't have much going on. I thought the queen's role was very good. California rolls are California rolls. lol The tuna roll was a weird color. Maybe it was fatty tuna? I'm not sure. Usually when I order a Tuna roll the tuna is a nice bright, dark color. This tuna roll was very dull and grayish. I tried it and it tasted OK. But I just felt like it was sketchy so I wound up throwing it away. I think I would definitely come back and dine in. I don't know if I would ever order food to go again.

We were not disappointed!! This restaurant on the Upper East Side looks unassuming but the quality, service and prices were all excellent. We started with pan fried gyoza and fried shumai. Not every restaurant offers fried shumai and I prefer it to steamed shumai, which sometimes has a slimy texture on the outside. Both appetizers were some of the best I've ever had, crispy, fresh and delicious. I ordered the lunchbox special with beef teriyaki. I couldn't believe the portion for the price. A lot of places make you choose soup or salad. This came with both, along with a California roll, white rice, some veggies, steamed shumai and the protein -- a choice of teriyaki chicken, beef or salmon. You could also order a sushi or sashimi lunch box for a bit more. The ginger dressing tasted fresh and delicious, with just a little spice. My husband ordered California rolls and spicy tuna rolls, also a lunch special. He said it was the best spicy tuna he's ever had! Akura is a bit off the beaten path for places we normally visit in Manhattan but we may just have to come back! Downside? No alcohol but you could bring your own with no corkage fee if you wanted. They served water, soda and even hot tea in stainless steel tumblers. I liked them for cold beverages but it was a bit odd for green tea. Not a dealbreaker at all - but interesting enough that I noticed! I kinda want the same glasses for my house as they kept drinks nice and cold! Very friendly staff, quick service - well deserving of 5 stars.
