I've dined here a few times throughout the years and never had a bad experience. First off the decor is gorgeous! You'll spot several Japanese artifacts and designs if you're attentive. It definitely rings of authenticity and adds to the feel. As far as the food is concerned, everything that I've tried was delicious! So far, I've only had the Beef short Ribs and the Hibachi Chicken and steak. They're both pretty good. Mito's drinks are also delicious and strong in my opinion. Mito is my favorite walking-distance restaurant. The maki sushi is tasty (I especially like their Philly roll), good vegan options, and they even have burgers and steaks on the menu (the burger was good enough, but not top tier. If I wasn't feeling like Asian fusion or sushi I'd probably order it again if I was already there, but if I was really craving a burger I'd go elsewhere.) My partner is vegan and she enjoys the food she's gotten, too. Service has been very good to excellent - no complaints. I think we had the manager one night as our server because it was busy/Valentine's Day, and she was really providing excellent service. It has always been my favorite little local sushi restaurant however, last few times I ordered had been absolutely atrocious-- my edamame was super overcooked, the beans were the consistency of apple sauce, the sashimi were warm, tuna tartare was messy.. the crostini was in the same box as the tuna tartare which caused it to be soggy wet-- no sauce with my tartare. In previous orders I placed were eel/cucumber and 5x in a row I kept receiving eel/avocado which I find unacceptable because of the texture(ick)-- I was stuck with eel I wasn't going to consume for that reason. What's going on Mito?? I'm quite reasonable and forgiving but when I pay over $150+ each order I except my food edible and fresh. I'm disappointed, will not be ordering again. We decided to come here for date night and indulge on some of their top dishes. I had to try one of their sushi rolls that was absolutely delicious. Not only was the food fresh, but it was also super tasty. The wings were crispy and cooked to perfection and the surf and turf was divine. The filet mignon was juicy, tender and packed with seasoning and my lobster was sweet and succulant. Every time I put an order on Uber eats I call the restaurant right afterwards and ask them to just put a certain sauce on the food instead of on the side and I'm always told yes don't worry it will be done, and most of the time they failed to listen to anything you say to them. But we've become Mito fans as of late, as their sushi is top quality, fresh and delicious. Is it the cheapest in the area, no. BUT ... you also get what you pay for, and with Mito, I'm happy paying a dollar more here and there to get sushi that I know is some of the best I've had in the area. The hubby is a huge fan now of their beef negimaki and bok choi. I'm totally down with the sushi ... The Rainbow Roll, Avocado Roll, New York Roll, all of them have been delicious and awesome. This is my wife's favorite place to grab sushi/Japanese food. They've been a here for a while I believe but we never tried it out until recently. It was delivery as the dining area is closed currently because of Covid. They are right on a busy stretch of 108th St. Not sure about parking but there are metered spaces all along 108th but parking might be tough depending on the time of day and day of the week. The delivery was quick and the food was still hot which is always good. The food itself was good. I had the Shrimp teriyaki which was good. I thought the add on Fried Rice was a small portion, especially for the price but it was good. Mito has become a favorite spot of ours. We love going and enjoying a sushi night out. Fish is always fresh and delicious. The sandwich roll may be my favorite, but everything is wonderful. Also love their Happy Hour menu which is typically 4pm-6pm daily....of course that's not an option right now. In these crazy quarantine times, I was happy to see that Mito was offering takeout. I ordered through their website, which gives a 10% discount, and food was ready exactly on time. The doors were open with tables blocking the entrance and bags are there for you to grab your order. They don't have alot of Cucumber in their rolls I've noticed, so the Naruto roll did the job. Their raw fish tastes fresh and has just the right sized cuts to fit in my mouth. The scallions on the Avocado Tuna balls give it a slight kick and is flawless, in my opinion. The prices here are a bit higher than others in my area, but it is justified by the freshness of their food, the consistency in their dishes and their overall cleanliness. I got this particular order delivered, so they were sure to include chopsticks, sealed soy sauce and a few little candies which we enjoyed afterwards. They make excellent sea bass as well! Looking for a dinner spot in Queens on a Saturday night is not an easy feat without a reservation. Add the height of the summer into the mix and its near impossible to walk in and get a table. But sometimes we are lucky and this time we were lucky. Happily, our dining experience was good and enjoyable at Mito. Who knew this Japanese Asian restaurant would be so good. While searching YELP for restaurant Japanese suggestions, Mito was in the right location for us had a big parking lot and prices seemed average. Also, Mito is in Yonkers, my current hometown where I had read decent reviews. The indoor space is split into a couple of large dining rooms with a big bar. The atmosphere says Asian upscale with a sort of lounge type fell. The areas were well air conditioned and there was a good crowd. The host asked if we wanted to dine indoors or out. On a beautiful non muggy summer's eve we went with outside. The outdoor patio is also large but not covered so definitely not usable if it rains. Our experience was good, bus boy filled water glasses and waiter came right over to take our drink order. We didn't wait long for our appetizers. I had the crispy rice with tuna tartar with spicy mayo with the smallest slice of jalapeno. It was a large portion which I would have easily split with my best friend, but she doesn't eat raw fish. I didn't want to eat all six, but I did. Not like that would have traveled well for the next day. She was not happy with the fried calamari rings. Tried it and said it was too chewy so sent it back and got the shrimp shumai. Her first time eating them and most likely last as she said they were ok, but she wouldn't eat them again. They did not look homemade but rather appeared as most restaurants shumai that are bought in bulk and frozen. We both ordered the Honey Soy Teriyaki with Shrimp accompanies by mixed vegetables and whipped potatoes. Whipped potatoes are a twist at an Asian restaurant but a twist we both liked. Ten large grilled shrimp arrived on the dinner plate with a thick yummy honey teriyaki sauce served on the side. This is the Steak teriyaki with steamed mixed vegetables, a $30 dish. You might think that I waited until I was almost done eating to snap a picture, but nope, I had simply moved the 3 ounces of dried up steak to reveal the vegetables underneath - one stalk of asparagus, a thumb sized piece of cauliflower and a quarter size piece of potato, this was the entire meal. It came with a small bowl of white rice., no soup or salad as Japanese restaurants traditionally do. Came here on a Thursday night. It wasn't hard getting seats. They have plenty of seating throughout the place. I like the booths and the layout. There are also seats by the bar with TVs . I came right after happy hour ended so not sure if that's worth it. I would like to try the happy hour one of these days. For the entree, we ordered the Philadelphia Roll, and other two rolls that I don't remember. I decided to get something from the wok sauteed and grilled section with white rice. Decided to try the szechuan peppercorn, it wasn't spicy as I wanted it to be. It came on a sizzling plate, the only thing was that it looked temperature hot, but not spicy hot. Solid sushi but expensive. Ordering direct from their website decreases every menu item by $1-$3, but other places are still more affordable for similar quality. Their sushi menu also has a lot of rolls with tempura in it which isn't my favorite choice, so if you like that you might fare better than I did. Pork gyoza are on point. Nice wrapper, tasty filling. The duck roll wrapped in scallion pancake was a bit too greasy. The spicy edamame is covered in spicy mayo that I don't think works at all, it just gets gunky and takes away from the texture and flavor edamame usually has. The sandwich roll is spicy tuna, eel, avocado wrapped in soy paper with spicy mayo and eel sauce. This is good, but it's very creamy and soft, I wish it had more texture. The Fantastic Four roll with tuna, salmon, and avocado topped with 4 color tobiko is really good. Their hand rolls are solid, quality seaweed, but they roll them into tube shapes which I think is odd. Their salmon sashimi pieces are cut a bit small, but are fine otherwise. The spicy tuna avocado ball is also a winner, I like that it's not drenched in sauce. read more
