Solid sushi but expensive. Ordering direct from their website decreases every menu item by $1-$3, but other places are still more affordable for similar quality. Their sushi menu also has a lot of rolls with tempura in it which isn't my favorite choice, so if you like that you might fare better than I did. Pork gyoza are on point. Nice wrapper, tasty filling. The duck roll wrapped in scallion pancake was a bit too greasy. The spicy edamame is covered in spicy mayo that I don't think works at all, it just gets gunky and takes away from the texture and flavor edamame usually has. The sandwich roll is spicy tuna, eel, avocado wrapped in soy paper with spicy mayo and eel sauce. This is good, but it's very creamy and soft, I wish it had more texture. The Fantastic Four roll with tuna, salmon, and avocado topped with 4 color tobiko is really good. Their hand rolls are solid, quality seaweed, but they roll them into tube shapes which I think is odd. Their salmon sashimi pieces are cut a bit small, but are fine otherwise. My friend and I ordered a number of different food items, including cocktails. The fried rice, soups, hand rolls and edamame were average/good. This octopus, however, was inedible. We called the waiter over to show him how tough the octopus was (the last two pieces we ate we had to spit out). We asked for them to refund this particular item after showing them how we couldn't cut through it. We were offered a new knife (we obviously said no, and laughed). He went to the manager, shared our story, came back and said that because we ate half of it (even after spitting out the last two pieces) they would not refund. The manager himself didn't have the guts to come over and check on us himself. I've never experienced this type of service in any other restaurant. read more

I ordered fried calamari and it came wrapped in hair. The person I was with was furious cos we were so hungry. We brought up to the waiters attention and he changed it and still charged up. Trust we weren't thing to stay but like I mentioned b4 we were so hungry and exhausted. We ordered fried wonton and they were cold, we still stood and prayed our entrée was better than the appetizer experience. Food came and yet again disappointed, food was cold and not tasty. I had 1 shrimp and decided that I was not going to force myself to eat. Check came. Entrée was not charged but they did charge $6 for the 1 shrimp. Ridiculous! Never again! Always had a good experience with Mito. A standout in Forest Hills. Great quality fresh sushi and rolls. Also very creative on their specialty rolls. Loved the 108 st roll and the lobster crab roll. They also have other hot items as well that range from chinese dishes to hibachi. Sesame chicken is a stand out here. Also a extensive and nice menu of cocktails and alcohol. It's hard for me to take Chinese owned Japanese places seriously but over the years I can't help but be impressed with Mito's operation, which has gained some fanfare in an otherwise dreary part of the FoHi neighborhood. The first thing to take in is the decor. Normally I reserve this kind of high end look for trendy Thai restaurants, but Mito has achieved it while making the space breathable for a really ideal layout. In the heydey, it was an immediate date spot and happy hour destination. Even the bathrooms were nice. I think my favorite thing is their bar. Drinks galore, friendly bartenders and far away enough from tables to where being rowdy wasn't an issue. Food wise, I'd be apt for the sushi, as their presentation is on point. The rest of the pan Asian menu is perfectly suited to the locals. The fact they offer green tea tiramisu and 3 layer chocolate is definitely a surprise. Prices are what you'd expect and the staff is usually robust enough to keep the operation going. I know now they're rocking the outdoor dining, which is perfect for our pandemic appetites. They do offer something to the area that is always looking for it. Here's hoping they can stick it out during this crazy time. read more

I love 'lunch specials', that is lower prices on same food. I came here Saturday noon time and placed a to-go order. I ordered Maki Lunch and order taker asked 2 or 3 rolls. Glad she asked. I choose 3: spicy salmon, eel avocado and eel cucumber - no eel sauce on top. 10 minutes later, my order was hand delivered to me as I sat on the bench. Brought it home and was pleasantly delighted with how nicely my to-go order was packaged. Largest box (the rolls) was at the bottom. Small container of salad on top. Then the little soy sauce container, chopsticks, fork and stack of napkins on top. It was like a tower of treats. Anyway, the rolls are all one bite pieces. Not much rice, 1:1 ratio rice to filling. The eel cucumber roll weren't tightly rolled/packed so it came a little undone when my chopsticks picked up a piece. Not much eel in either eel rolls. Guess that's what you get in a deal. The spicy salmon roll didn't deliver the spice versus other places. But that's okay with me cuz I dipped it into wasabi soy sauce mixture. What's diff abt its recipe is that it adds some tempura bread crumbs. That was delicious! I'll have to order again, but from normal price menu. read more

Celebrated my best friends birthday celebration here on a Wednesday night. Made reservations at Open table and once we arrived we were seated right away. The menu was extensive for an Asian Fusion cuisine restaurant. We ordered the following for appetizers- Kani Salad, Korean grilled short ribs and the chicken lettuce wrap. For entrees, we ordered the Mongolian beef, Mongolian shrimp, wok grilled shrimp, curry chicken, curry beef and the grilled chilean sea. The food was presented really well and it also tastes good, the serving was also great for the price! Overall, the experience was amazing. Service was on point. They attend to your needs as soon as possible. Would go back again especially knowing that they have lunch specials on the menu! BTW... the dessert are not good..sorry but I believe it's store bought desserts, hopefully you can create a dessert created in the restaurant . read more

They don't have alot of Cucumber in their rolls I've noticed, so the Naruto roll did the job. Their raw fish tastes fresh and has just the right sized cuts to fit in my mouth. The scallions on the Avocado Tuna balls give it a slight kick and is flawless, in my opinion. The prices here are a bit higher than others in my area, but it is justified by the freshness of their food, the consistency in their dishes and their overall cleanliness. I got this particular order delivered, so they were sure to include chopsticks, sealed soy sauce and a few little candies which we enjoyed afterwards. They make excellent sea bass as well! This place is beyond beautiful. I love the aesthetics here at Mito. Albeit, it is not huge the intimacy and decor draws you in and keeps your attention. My hunny and I had a date night here prior to going to the movies to see The Strangers: Prey At Night. The service was a 4/5 stars and the reason for this is because although our waiter was polite he didn't ask if I wanted another drink. I enjoy a great drink and the one I ordered was superb however, the punctuality was not there. This one mishap will not allow me to reduce the overall rating for Mito. We initially started off with the happy hour menu ordering Fried Shumai and the Salmon Tempura roll. We also ordered the Mito Roll. For libations I had a Mango Cosmo and he had a Passion Fruit Mojito. My hunny is not a huge drinker but I always enjoy his drinks more. My first mango cosmo was strong but the second one was not. I'm not sure if it's because I asked for extra cherries but it changed the taste of the drink. If you enjoy cherries ask for them on the side. Everything was delicious especially the Mito Roll. It consists of rocky shrimp tempura inside, topped with spicy lobster, spicy king crab with a drizzle of spicy cream sauce. Be forewarned that the roll has some yellow caviar. Don't let that deter you. My hunny scraped mine off but, you can barely taste it. Halfway through our meal we decided to order an entree to share. We went with the Wok Grilled Garlic Shrimp which was served with zucchini, onions, asparagus, baby bok choy and a side of white rice. The dish supposedly contains jalapeño garlic but I did not taste any heat in our dish. Also the baby bok choy was huge. I think it was apart of the dish's decor because there was no way we were able to enjoy such a huge piece that we nearly chewed for six minutes. Other than that the dish was marvelous. Hands down my favorite sushi spot in Queens. This place is so nicely decorated and has such a romantic ambiance. I love sitting in the booths they have further inside that are shaped like a semi circle, it creates an intimate setting - perfect for a date. Their sushi is unbelievably good. The fish is always fresh and their rolls are made with the perfect amount of rice. They have happy hour on weekdays from 4pm-7pm, with discounted specialty cocktails, kitchen appetizers, and $4 rolls. Such a great deal! The service is impeccable, and they are extremely attentive. I love how they bring the credit card device to the table for you to pay your bill. I definitely recommended this place to anyone who is looking for a good sushi spot in Queens. read more

I'm come here twice now. Once for dinner with my friend and his family and another time for happy hour. Happy Hour is available from 3-7pm Monday through Saturday. $3 beers, $4 apps, $6 wine and $6 cocktails. Happy hour food is pretty decent. Would definitely recommend getting the chicken satay, the chicken was cooked perfectly and was still very tender. For dinner I would recommend trying some of their interesting appetizers. They're typically on the smaller side though. The hibachi which is what I had was pretty tasty and the portions are huge. For birthdays they will get a free dessert, so don't forget to ask. Definitely a good spot for happy hour especially for the beers. The apps I would say are generally tasty, but portions can be pretty small. read more

We liked the lychee martini, but didn't care for the blueberry martini... no blueberry flavor at all. Ordered a bunch of items from their bar/happy hour menu and each dish was tasty- recommend the pork gyoza, spicy salmon roll, and chicken satay. Decor/atmosphere is pretty nice- would be a good place for a date night or catching up with a small group of friends. The decor of this restaurant was gorgeous! I'm giving it 4 starts because of decor and food combination. Good food, great atmosphere and really wonderful servers! The servers is what made my experience better for sure! We celebrated a birthday and they were kind enough to let us set up the table and surroundings our way. I called them 5 times to add people to the party and they didn't complain or make me feel uncomfortable even for once which is proof they they have amazing customer service. Now food! Food was a mix. Some items were off the hook while others were your generic Japanese items. Our apps were amazing! Make sure to try their spicy edamame which comes with sort or a salty and spicy dressing, I have never had that before. Their grilled squid was AMAZING! Deff try that one, however we ordered two grilled squid, while one of them was grilled nicely, the second one was more on the chewy side and wasn't grilled properly. All the entrees were of various tastes and texture. I loved their filler mignon that my friend ordered. General tso chicken was a little too salty for me. But the general tso shrimp was amazing! They have a special fried rice that comes a fried egg on top that was the most popular dish on our table every one ordered one and loved it. Drinks: their drinks are really good! Strong as well. Bartenders are very generous with their pours and doesn't shy away from getting your tipsy with their signature cocktails! Try the mango martini or the lychee martini they are both great! "Dad, since we're not going to be together for Thanksgiving, I want to go out to eat with you this weekend." That was my youngest, and pickiest eater. He continued to say, "And maybe we can find a place with chicken for me, and maybe duck for my brother..." And of course, my daughter wanted sushi. So the search was on to find a good place to eat where no one would be eating the same thing. I also wanted to try someplace new, which led me to Mito Asian Fusion. We got there just as it opened on a Sunday, at noon. They were still getting set up, but had us seated (along with at least 3-4 other parties that showed up right after we did) in 5-10 minutes. My two boys and I ordered off of the prix fixe menu for $23, which gets you an appetizer (we got wonton soup, crispy spicy tuna, and BBQ spare ribs), an entree (salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, and sushi), and a dessert (we all opted for the fried ice cream). I cannot speak to the soup, but my son said it was good. I can, however, tell you that my picky eater's BBQ spare ribs was so good that he ate the two ribs without protest. My crispy spicy tuna was good, but I liked the rib better. The sushi that comes as part of the prix fixe comes with seven pieces and a tuna roll - standard fare, good quality and value. I also sampled my daughter's sushi rolls - the Mito and another that had mango in it; again, both good. I won't talk them up and say it was the best I've ever had, but that's not a slight: Mito's food is well worth it. And the fried ice cream? Well, if you have had fried ice cream before, then you know it is good. Mito's fried ice cream also happens to be rather large, which counts as a definitive plus in my book. As for the ambiance - Mito is a very nicely styled restaurant with a spacious layout. If you happen to come by, look above typical eye level. They've taken the time to add accents to the wall, the bar, the ceiling - nice touches to make the restaurant feel a little more upscale. It served me well for a family lunch, but I could also see it as a nice spot for a date. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and I could definitely see myself coming back again soon. read more

The sushi is delicious and the interior is beautiful, but the staff was disappointing. I came here with a friend recently. As soon as our sushi got to the table, they took the plates and utensils that were on the table before we arrived because they assumed that my friend and I wouldn't need them. They just took them away without asking. It would have been easier to use those plates for sharing food, but we ended up being able to do without those plates. They also kept trying to take our platters away as soon as the platters looked empty, but we were still using one for sharing so we had to tell them to not take the empty platter yet. This was not just one waiter/waitress either. So, I think the staff might need better training. read more

Ever since this pandemic started I've gone to restaurants and practice social distancing ect. Well apparently now any NYC restaurant is requiring proof of vaccination. I guess we didn't realize this so we didn't bring our proof with us, but they did give us the option of outdoor dining. It was a nice sunny cool day so we were fine. We were seated right away. The menu wasn't as big as I thought it would be. We placed our orders which included a couple of the special rolls and a couple vegetarian rolls, which by the way, the vegetarian rolls were not included in the menu. I asked the waiter if there was any way they could make my favorite veggie rolls peanut avocado and sweet potato tempura which he said they could. We also ordered the vegetable pancake and the tuna avocado balls. The food was pretty freaking good and the service was great! Our servers were very attentive. They brought the check over and I was able to tap my card and sign when they brought the portable cashier machine to the table. If you're in forest hills and are in the mood for sushi, this is definitely a place to try! Although we weren't able to sit inside, I was able to take a peek at what the inside looked like and it appeared to be a good place for date night.
