Highlights were the chili beef, the tree oil chicken, and the pork with pepper stir fry. Food is on the greasier side, but the flavors are there, especially for the meat dishes.

We got the downstairs party room since we had 12 people. 12 seems to be about max at the table, as it'll get too tight with any more. There is a bathroom in the room and karaoke (we did sing a few songs)! You order on the tablet, and there was a waiter hanging around for us. He filled our teas and took good care of us. We ordered a lot of dishes: -Steamed Shrimps with Minced Garlic: This had a good amount of shrimps and vermicelli noodles. Gotta eat this fresh and hot or the noodles start to stick. There wasn't much garlic flavor though, so this was on the bland side. -Braised Pork with Preserved Greens: the pork was fall apart tender and well sauced. -Pressure-Cooked Fish Head with Chopped Chili Peppers: tons of chili peppers. Unfortunately this was a little hard to divvy up with so many people. I did get some cheek which was very tender! -Sauerkraut Fish with Soup: very pickly in a good way, and had the most spiciness out of all the dishes. This was one of the best dishes. -Stir-fried Free-range Chicken with Tea Oil: the most expensive dish we got, and was lackluster in flavor compared to the other dishes. This dish is supposed to be especially fragrant. -The Stir-Fried Cauliflower and The Stir-Fried Green Beans with Pickled Vegetables: both vegetables were cooked well and flavorful. I love the crispy pork for texture and an extra boost of flavor. -Mapo Tofu with Sea Cucumber: the sauce is more on the liquid-y side. I wish it was less so, so that the flavors would be amped up more. The sea cucumber didn't add much to the dish. -Signature Stir-Fried Beef: the beef was very tender! However, there were lots of whole garlic, which didn't add much, unless you like eating mostly raw garlic. -Stir-Fried Pork with Chili: the pork was cooked well done. Good porkiness and a lot of green chilis to balance the dish. -Hunan Spicy Chicken: half of this dish was dried chilis, and half of the other half was cashews. -Stir-Fried Fish with Fresh Chilies: the fish was well cooked and went well with the fresh chilies! -Sweet Potato Rice in Pressure Cooker: came in the cutest rice cooker. The waiter portioned out 4 bowls for us and we split it among ourselves after. Lovely sweet potato flavor. The rice was perfect for pouring sauce over. -Hunan Soy Sauce Fried Rice: needed more wok hay. It was mediocre in flavor and texture. -Soft-Boiled Egg with Minced Pork and Silken Tofu: good texture and combo of flavor. It was good to have a non spicy dish, so that the ingredients can stand out. -Pork Trotters Braised with Preserved Vegetables: on the salty side. Definitely needed to be eaten with rice, so it was a good thing we ordered rice. -Casserole Beef Brisket: the beef was very tender with nice big chunks of daikon that soaked up the sauce. -Hunan Stinky Beancurd: I did not try this as I am not a fan of this type of dish. This was the last to go, as most of my fellow diners were not a fan of this type of dish either. -Stir-Fried bamboo shoots: simple dish. I wish the bamboo shoots weren't slices as thinly. Overall, although most of the dishes had decent flavor, and was cooked well, I was not impressed. Most of the dishes were not memorable, especially not for the main protein. The portion sizes were also on the small side - we ordered 19 dishes for 12 people and we cleaned up the dishes. It averaged about $25/dish (post tax & pre tip), so prepare for a pricey meal. I feel like they can pare down their menu. There were a couple other dishes we wanted to try but they were sold out.

My friend is from Shenzhen and we bond over spicy food. When he told me that there was a place I had to try, it's safe to say that I was super excited, and this place did not disappoint. They specifically specialize in Hunan cuisine and every bite was a treat for my tongue. The ambience felt both familiar and upscale. It was a good balance and the wait staff is very attentive and kind. Don't let the lack of reviews deter you and check this place out when you get a chance !

Signature Stirfried Beef, Stirfried Carp with Romaine Lettuce

I enjoyed the decor, the restaurant feels upscale, but the prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly and I was sat right away. I ordered the signature stir fried beef and the stir fried lettuce with carp. I've never had cooked lettuce before, and as an American there has always been some stigma around warm lettuce. However, after eating this dish I am converted and I think we should all be cooking our lettuce. Romaine lettuce works great as a stir fry vegetable. I loved how the stem remained crunchy while the outside edges took on the texture of a stir fried green. The slight sweetness of the romaine held up against the intensely savory and salty fried dace and crunchy whole douchi. The signature stir fried beef was served in a little basket with a tealight candle underneath the plate in order to keep it warm. The pool of oily liquid that the stir fry sat in was simmering and bubbling throughout the meal. The beef was reasonably tender, and I enjoyed the texture contrast with the crunchy Chinese celery. The whole cloves of garlic were still a little uncooked and bitter in the center, but overall they were a good complement to the other flavors in the dish. I thought the ratio of beef to other ingredients was a little light on the beef. There's lots of garlic but not much beef. I found it to be quite delicious and pleasantly rich from the oily sauce. It wasn't excessively spicy, but I avoided eating the very large pieces of chili. Personally, I don't really care if a robot cooked my food, as other reviewers have accused and if this is the case, I think the robot did a pretty good job. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and would return to try more dishes.

Paid $35 and got these tiny few pieces of dried up chicken that tasted like nothing

Overall food quality is bad and the price is too expensive. There's barely any chicken on my spicy chicken entree, and they are all dried up tiny pieces that doesn't taste like anything. Asking $35 is crazy for this. My biggest problem with them was that entrees don't come with rice. This is a basic thing in any Chinese restaurant. I would say, if you are aiming for a high end restaurant that rice needs to be ordered on the side as extra $, then do better overall: Design, service, menu, everything. If you are aiming for one of those family style Chinese restaurants that can be enjoyed casually, rice served with entree is a minimum requirement although I don't expect too much for the vibes and service.

Came back here for Valentine's Day and it didn't disappoint! We ordered different dishes this time. They are all just as fragrant as last time. String beans could be a little firmer and less overcooked but still delicious! I wish they sell their pickled vegetables in jars. I would buy a few to take home.

Warning to all with a pineapple allergy like me: do not eat the duck sauce. If you like spicy ask for hot mustard instead. Orange chicken was crispy and flavorful. I did not find it spicy, but my spice tolerance is very high. My fiance had the chicken with broccoli and it looked amazing. Try the cold noodles. They are chewy and delicious. For me the fried dumplings were good, but not great. Worth a try but nothing to rave over.

I ordered the cured pork with garlic shoots and dry fried green beans. The cured pork was quite salty, and paired well with the buttery, tender leeks it was cooked with. The dish was not overly oily, and was pleasant over white rice. I enjoyed the chewiness of the pork which allowed you to experience the complex flavor. The green beans were well fried, with characteristic texture signature to this dish. The seasoning was very well balanced and not overpowering to the natural sweetness of the green beans. I would recommend either dish. They were both slightly toned down iterations when compared to the times I've eaten these dishes at other Sichuan restaurants in flushing, but still well seasoned and well cooked. The service was very warm and friendly, and many other customers seemed to be returning regulars.

However, the delivery experience has been very uncomfortable. On my last order, I only had $13 left in my bank account and paid $11 for the food. When the delivery driver arrived, he immediately demanded a tip. I explained that I didn't have cash, but he insisted that I send him a tip through Zelle. He stood there and refused to leave until I did it. He literally watched me open my banking app, saw that I only had $2 left in my account, and still waited while I sent those last $2 as a tip. He even checked to make sure the payment went through before leaving. I want to be clear that I do tip when I can, because I understand that delivery drivers work hard. But sometimes money is tight and people are just trying to afford food. Being pressured and essentially forced to tip is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.

But when you don't have the luxury of a car and you don't want to pay 40 dollars on UberEats for good Chinese food, you'll be convinced to try your luck in the area. Not gonna lie, I chose Dumpling House because it was the closest Chinese food near me, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The women who greeted me at the counter was friendly and took my order: one large hot and sour soup and a small house special fried rice. I wouldn't recommend coming on a hot day because the shop can be hot if you're waiting for takeout, but the wait wasn't too long. After about 15 to 20 minutes, I was walking home with $11 dollar takeout. The hot and sour soup is pretty good and I've had a lot of hot and sour soup in my life. The consistency is not too thin or thick and the flavor is balanced (not too sweet or sour). For 5 dollars, I think it's a steal. The house special rice is good and not too greasy. For some reason, it still tasted Americanized even with the Asian ingredients I was used to. There was some chicken, barbecue pork, mixed veggies, egg, etc. and the ingredients mixed well despite it tasting American. Even though I got a small rice, I still had some leftover to eat the next day. Despite my obviously biased Asian tastebuds, I was very happy with what I got and I will definitely be back for some more hot and sour soup!
