    Beef Ball
    Calvin K.

I don't know who is like me, to drink at least a bowl of soup before hotpot. The soup is clear but with a full body of tase. I especially liked the beef ball. It is made with real ground beef by hand. The smell of beef filled with your oral cavity with tender texture. I think I can just have the beef balls all the way through my meal. Well, all the beef is well prepared and fresh. No doubt.

A Taste of Chao Shan in the Heart of Queens Tucked away in a labyrinthine hotel plaza in College Point, Queens, lies a culinary gem that deserves its moment in the spotlight. This Chao Shan-style hotpot spot is the kind of place that makes food lovers like me excited to spread the word. Once you navigate your way to the second floor, you're transported--not just to China, but to a world where fresh, hand-cut beef reigns supreme and every detail sings of authenticity. Let's talk beef. Here, it's always fresh, never frozen--a rarity that sets this spot apart. The half-and-half pot we ordered featured two soup bases: a rich, savory beef broth and a tangy, flavorful tomato broth. Each brought out different nuances in the fresh cuts of meat, and together they created the perfect hotpot experience. The beef balls, hand-pureed to perfection. Tender, sweet, and bursting with flavor, these are a must-try. And don't miss the hand-sliced cuts of sirloin, chuck sirloin, and shank. They're melt-in-your-mouth delicious, delivering that indulgent, velvety bite you dream about after the meal ends. But it doesn't stop at hotpot. We also indulged in their preserved meats and frog claypot rice --an earthy, aromatic dish that balanced tender protein with rich flavors. The fried salt-and-pepper squid was another highlight, perfectly crispy with just the right amount of saltyness to keep you reaching for another bite. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, from the texture to the portion sizes. The space itself is spacious yet cozy, with beautiful décor that makes it perfect for a celebration or an intimate dinner with friends. Even the takeout game is strong here. Their lunch specials like the clay pot rice and beef rice noodles soup hold their own in both flavor and portion. Service is impeccable, attentive, warm, and going above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. This place isn't just a meal; it's a story of culinary passion and cultural authenticity. Whether you're here for the broths, the signature beef balls, or something adventurous like frog claypot rice, every bite is a journey worth taking. Highly recommended for anyone craving fresh flavors and a dining experience that feels like a little piece of Chao Shan in the heart of Queens.

This spot is a MUST if you love fresh, hand-cut beef Chao Shan-style hotpot. The beef here? Always fresh, never frozen. We went for a half-and-half pot with two different soup bases--so good, Not only is the food amazing, but the space is huge and beautifully decorated, perfect for parties or a cozy meal with friends. And if you order takeout , their Lunch special is super affordable too! We also tried the clay pot rice and beef rice noodle dishes, they are so yummy. My friends and I really enjoyed the place. I think it's the only place in nyc where you could have ChaoShan beef hot pot. The food was great! Beef was super delicious and the price is reasonable. Service was excellent and the restaurant staff really went above and beyond. The place is very clean and well decorated. Highly recommend it.

6 out of 5 stars for service. Haven't been to a place that is so authentic and outstanding service. The restaurant was spotless clean to even sauce station! There's rooms for private party and even a stage if you were to rent out the whole space. There was also cute stuff animals for sale in display and complimentary ice cream. Recommend for those looking for a warm meal on a cold

Decor was very nice and modern. Bathroom was VERY CLEAN which is very important for me when I visit any food establishment because I truly believe the cleanliness of their bathroom is also a reflection of how sanitary their kitchen is so big thumbs up for this. They're know for their hotpot but a few non hotpot dishes that stole the show was their seafood congee and Chinese sausage clay pot rice which we devoured before taking a picture of. The seafood Congee had the right water to rice consistency and they were also very generous with the seafood! Clay pot rice was seasoned to perfect and they made sure to help us scrape out the "fan jiu" for us to enjoy! The hotpot was your standard hotpot but the meat was definitely very fresh and thin. I think they slice it in house. Service was great. Our server was very attentive and checked on us multiple times and acted very fast when we needed something. Overall this restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood.

I think the beef here is overpriced for the quantity of beef on each dish. They didn't have the most popular cut of meat when I visited, which is surprising for chao-style hotpot when different cut of meat is the speciality. Had there eel clay pot rice, which was good with fried rice dough on the pot.

My girlfriend was super excited to try this spot because there is a similar restaurant in Taiwan she likes going to that also serves fresh beef hot pot and this restaurant did not disappoint. We chose two soup bases for a half and half pot (tomato and mala), made our own sauces at the sauce bar, and ordered multiple different cuts of beef and all tasted of good quality. You can definitely tell it's fresh cut. We had a total of 6 people and the bill came out to about $200 including tip which we thought was pretty good considering the amount that we ordered. We were all very full afterwards but to our surprise they even gave us free fruit and ice cream at the end! The atmosphere was nice/big space and service was really good. Only complain is it's hard to get to from Manhattan without a car or else we would eat here more often. You can get validation for the parking and it only comes out to $3 for 1-2 hours. Overall really enjoyed this spot, definitely coming back!

Didn't even have time to take photo of the Clay pot rice with eel!

Finally!! Chao Shan beef hotpot in the states! Came all the way from California for this! Although the shacha sauce is not sautéed, but the various sauces are definitely enough for everyone! Make your only shacha sauce! Waiters are really kind and introduced the difference between all types of beef. The place is really nice, not too crowded and pretty clean! If only we were New Yorkers!

新开的店,味道很正,店家也很nice!推荐匙柄和肥拼,口感非常好! A newly opened restaurant, tasting good and authentic! Nice services, good meats.

They are permanently closed. But they were wonderful and convenient especially for guest staying at the hotel or a quick lunch.

Would you like to be transported back in time to ancient china?…read more How about just testing your spice tolerance to see if you can hang with the best? Well, if you want all of that, PLUS hot pot, look no further - this is the place to be! There is a reason this is one of the highest recommend spots to visit when you're in Flushing. First off, entrance? SO UNASSUMING. It's like, the tiniest door, with no real obvious signage. Once you go through, you basically feel like you're in one of the ancient alleys of China - decor is 1000% great. We had a larger party of 7, and they were luckily able to accommodate us since we lined up a few minutes before opening on a Friday. We actually got IMO the best seats in the house - towards the back, elevated up on some steps, a mini pavilion essentially. But enough about the decor.. how was the food? Well.. GREAT! And honestly, for NYC prices, not too expensive (but a bit pricy for flushing I guess). The quality was top notch (highly recommend trying the mala quail eggs) and the spice of the broth was GREAT! We went with medium since our server (amazing btw, thank you Sean / Shawn / Shaun??) said that he can't even go near hot, it burns his eyes. Medium was just perfect - felt great eating it with some sweats, regretted it the day after, which means I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Meats were good quality, veggies were yummy. I wish the shrimp paste had more in terms of quantity, we barely had seven bites for each of us, but it was really good. Also, pro tip, probably don't order Napa Cabbage, a lot of their other dishes will sit on top of a whole leaf, so you'll probably get enough from that unless you want to consume half a head. Sauce bar is $2 a person - which might be shocking for some to know they charge it, but it's pretty much the norm at a higher end hot pot place in big cities. At least they don't charge $6-$8 like some places and only throw in a few apps/desserts to try to justify it. Overall, really loved this place, and would definitely go back.

The mushroom was my favorite and loaded with fresh mushrooms. -beef tongue rattan pepper: at first the pepper was not overwhelming but with time it was numbing my tongue which was a bit uncomfortable -sliced beef tendon: delicious -prime beef slices: they weren't that soft and not super well marbled. The bowl that our mushrooms came in was rusted... kind of ruined my whole experience. At least server was super nice and attentive. Wouldn't come back though.

They kept surprising us with little extras throughout the meal, which didn't feel gimmicky, just generous and attentive in a way that's rare. What really stood out, though, was something that happened before we even sat down. My family and I were outside juggling a bunch of stuff, and one of the workers noticed. She wasn't even actively assigned to us, but she came over, held the door open, and insisted on helping carry everything in. She didn't just drop it off either--she walked with us all the way until we were seated. That kind of effort, especially when it's not "required," says a lot about the culture there. Beyond the service, the value is just strong. The quality, portions, and overall experience easily justify the price. It's one of those places where you leave feeling taken care of, not just fed.

I was shocked since she is not a fan of Shabu Shabu but she recently gave it a try and now she loves it. I'm like OMG, all those years of missing out. I have read a lot of amazing things about Haidiloa. There are 7 locations in L.A./SF and one in Flushing. I asked the waitress if she knows if one will be opening up in Jersey. She was sweet enough to take the time to ask her manager and inform me that yes, they are planning to in the next 2-3 years. Now that is incredible customer service. We went for the lunch combo $19.99. Seems like everyone else around us was going for this deal as well. You get a platter of veggies and one protein choice and rice or noodles. My sister chose the sliced fish and I got the pork belly slices. We also shared a few à la carte dishes...sliced Angus Beef, shrimp, corn, and tofu. I will say that these items were pricey and can add up. Ooh, make sure you leave a little room for the desserts at the bar. Lots to choose from. I was beyond excited for their drink menu. I got the Seven-Infused Jasmine Milk Tea. For all you Molly Tea fans, this one tasted just like one of their jasmine drinks. And it's only $4.95. Service is a solid 10/10. Waitress wore gloves to take the shell off the shrimps for us. She constantly came by to make sure everything was good. You will surely be well taken care of. We left a very generous tip. Overall it was an epic hot pot experience. Love love love all the little details like the cute aprons, bag for your jackets, little snack treats to bring home, hair ties for the ladies so you can tie your hair up and eat. Lol. There are even toothbrushes and toothpaste in the restrooms. Reservations are a must unless you like to wait 1-2 hours. I cannot wait until they open one in New Jersey!

The hot pot itself I think was average but the real standout for me was the appetizers. Seating in a booth tucked away in a corner on the first floor was a bit awkward to navigate. The sauce station downstairs was not well maintained and several items were out of stock, but that may have been because it was around 9PM. Second floor seating and sauce station are better. Food 4.5/5: Main complaint is that their menu is really confusing, despite this being my second visit. There are 4 pricing tiers. Everyone in a party has to choose the same one, so it can get pricey fast. Higher tiers include seafood and more premium wagyu cuts. You still get unlimited wagyu in the lowest tier but seafood is not included. I think this setup is fine because premium seafood items like lobster and crab tend to clutter the pot and are difficult to deshell while hot but also taste worse after cooled. Although the premium wagyu cuts do taste richer and "melt in your mouth," most of the fat is renders into the broth. Therefore, I don't think hot pot is the best way to enjoy wagyu, so the higher tiers didn't feel worth the price. The best part of the meal was definitely the appetizers and specialty dishes. The wagyu bone marrow was amazing and a must-try but only available to the second tier or up. Ambiance 3.5/5: I think being tucked away in a corner booth made the experience less enjoyable. The table was small for a party of 6, so we constantly had to rearrange dishes whenever new food arrived. It was inconvenient that everyone had to get up whenever I needed to refill my drink or sauce. Service 4/5: The first floor sauce station wasn't restocked throughout our stay so options were limited. Otherwise no real complaints regarding service to our table.
