The reason for 5 stars is totally due to my server, Martin. I was renting a room in Honolulu towers, no access to a kitchen and off work late. Zippys was in the right place at the right time. It is lonely and quiet eating late, but I was always greeted with a big smile from Martin, and he would ask about my day. He made me feel welcome and at home. He knew what I was drinking, and had that chardonnay on the way to the table as soon as I sat down, he knew I took my saimin with no pork. What a lovely man. The family and I came here for an early dinner. My daughter was really hungry because she didn't eat lunch. Same rules apply here. The lady asks for name, home address and phone number. We also get our temperature taken up front. Hardly no one here the time we came. We were seated at a table. The waitress was super nice. At first I got an iced water, but when I upgraded my meal, I got any fountain drink so I went with iced tea. I ordered a mini Korean chicken meal with white rice and corn. Prior I got a salad with ranch. We were also served bread with our meal. All this food was enough for me. I was happy and content. Plenty of parking up front and the inside was huge. Service not that good. I go thru the drive thru line to try to get the fund raising items. The lady said I have to go inside to pick lup. It is a waste of my time waiting in line! She has a register there and this transaction will not involve collections of money like the car before me all she needs to do is process the card and give me 5 cornbread. How hard it is for her to do it. Absolutely not hard but she chooses to chase away her customers and have them park the car and go inside and wait in line again for the 5 pieces of cornbread. The service and food was great! However, the outside dining area needs a LOT of work as far as cleanliness. The windows look like they have not been cleaned in ages!!! This is especially recognizable above the shuttered louvers. The floors needed to be swept n mopped! It looks filthy!! No one cleans under the counter areas in the dining area! I love this Zippy's! They are the only Zippy's in my area with a drive through pick up Window. I call my order in and in 15 min or less, I drive right up and it's waiting for me. I never have any problems placing the order, and customer service is always good! Also the area surrounding Zippy's is not that great but since I don't have to get out or look for parking I just think it's so convenient!! I must an order in at least once a week!! read more

What happened? New management? Like that it's open 24 hours, but service in the restaurant has been poor, but this time is was downright terrible. For starters, we waited 15 minutes to order and only after I questioned the hostess about the delay. I could understand if it was busy, but the restaurant was not crowded at all. Portion size has been reduced significantly. The burger was much smaller than before. The should revise the menu and call it sliders! The steamed broccoli tasted spoiled. There were black spots on a few. When it was reported to the waitress, the response was "it came from a new bag". I questioned how "new" was the bag and how often do they rotate the food in the refrigerator. Perhaps a random inspection by the Dept of Health is in order. The line was long, but well worth the wait. I wish other Zippy's locations offered this service. Food at Zippy's is consistently good. I have never been disappointed at the quality and quantity of food that is received. A+ Parking at this location is not too bad. Lots of people coming and going. B- There is a public restroom located near the take out counter. Used it once, and once only. You decide the grade to be assigned. Staff is always friendly and they repeat your order back to you for confirmation. It's been a few days since I've eaten any vegetables and being in my 30's I figured the best way is to get the *drum roll please* ZIPPYS KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN SALAD! Zippys is the go to place that is consistently good whether you want breakfast, lunch, dinner or some munchies after a long night at the bars. This location is convenient for those of us who live in downtown area/Chinatown with plenty of parking and a dining area (currently closed due to the Covid-19) but they are doing pick up. From what I've tried I'd recommend pretty much anything on the menu you can't go wrong (Saimen, burger, salad, chili) If I had to compare Zippys to a mainland chain it would be like a Denny's but with a cultured twist. If you've never had Zippys and you live in Oahu then you're not only living on a rock but you're also living under a rock & need to check it out on one of those days when you can't decide what to eat. read more

We went to a place called Zippy's which is like a Denny's, but famous in Hawaii for breakfast. It was probably the best and cheapest breakfast that we had during our entire vacation. The service was great, and they were so very friendly. We enjoyed our first experience so much, that we retuned a second day in a row for breakfast, this time I had the most delicious fried rice with my breakfast, it probably the best fried rice that I have ever tasted. read more

Good ole Zippy's, I hadn't been there for hours. My friend ordered the chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes and I ordered the teriyaki burger with fries (my weakness). You really can5go wrong with Zippy's, the food is pretty much the same all the time. Service was quick, we enjoyed our meals, and rushed to the airport. Haven't come to this location in awhile. Called-in a take-out order for breakfast. Also added a large cup of coffee. The girl at the window was friendly and her name tag said trainee under name. We ordered 2 bentos which were outstanding and the quality of food is good. However, I stop coming to this location because of the slow service, in and outside of the restaurant. I remember several times it's 1:00am -2:00am and only 2 or 3 tables inside and we still wait over 30 minutes. Anyway, I'm reviewing today. Got home and opened the package, theres no condiments, ketchup, shoyu, salt and pepper, and etc. I usually get that without asking for take-out. My coffee, she forgot then made it pretty fast, then she forgot the sugar substitute. Then, I ask for a stir stick, she said she had none. Then I said, how's about a spoon. I was the only take out order that I could see, but don't know if it's lack of training or what. I like Zippy's in general, I feel their quality of food is amazing for local food. The convenience of this place and 24/hr with a drive through pick up is just the best thing ever. Although this is located near chinatown, you have the weirdos coming in.. Since the pandemic a lot of restaurants have changed their hours and later night options are limited. My wife and I had been out with friends and Zippys was pretty much our only option. I'll be honest... it was straight garbage. I don't know how someone can make corned beef hash eggs and rice absolutely flavorless. The outdoor order area is not very customer service friendly. I ordered two chocolate covered doughnuts. The only chocolate doughnut in the case. When I went to pick up my order the had two glazed doughnuts and filled the whole in the middle with chocolate. Absolutely worst grilled salmon I've eaten in my entire lifetime! Not sure if they are pre-cooked in their Waipio kitchen facility & kept at Vineyard Zippy's in a warmer until it is ordered the next day? Two thin slices and bone dry like chewing on the tongue of an old leather shoe. You can put over a soy type or tarter sauce but it's still dreadful.
