Mushroom Swiss Burger
Debra N.

The cashier was very friendly and answered my question. I ordered the mushroom cheese burger and wanted well done. It was cooked perfect with lots of crispy fries and gave me a handful of catsup...yum. I had put down my food with a bottle of Coke Zero. It was a very loud noisy day...somewhat overcrowded. Food is good...Ciao!

Okay, first off: I do not eat burgers and did NOT eat a burger from here. So go read another review if you're wondering about their burgers LOL Anyways, location is pretty convenient and easy considering it's in a foodcourt in a major mall. I absolutely cannot blame them for any parking or location issues because they lucked out getting a good location and it's right by the door too! The biggest thing to watch out for in this location is your spot in line since the foot traffic can get crazy since it's by the door. A lot people will walk around you while you're in line so just make sure you know who is in front and even in back of you. Now, why am I reviewing this place? Because the grilled cheese was great! Again, I'm not a burger person and honestly, I try not to buy food at Ala Moana because I know I'm paying " tourist prices," but I was hungry and needed something to hold me over to get me home. I noticed the $7 price and saw it was for grilled cheese and fries. Any meal that is under $10 seemed worth it to me so I got it. I gotta admit, for something so simple, it did it's job. I especially like the type of bread they use for this. AND the fries were cooked to perfection. I believe at the time, they also offered garlic fries and again, perfection! Good fries, good grilled cheese, good service, all around I have no complaints. 10/10 would buy again.

I tried Mahaloha Burger when they had a location in the Royal Hawaiian SC, so I knew they were good. ATMOSPHERE: Located in the Lanai food court at Ala Moana Center, they share communal indoor & outdoor tables with other eateries. MENU: Beef, chicken, fish & veggie burgers and hot dogs. FOOD: Mushroom Swiss with Fries Excellent burger with a nice char, perfectly seasoned, and dressed well with mayo & mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato, sautéed mushrooms and onions. The patty was slightly bigger than the bun too. The fries were a thicker shoestring that stayed crispy on its journey back to our hotel. Highly recommended. SERVICE: The gal at the counter was a great multitasker. Super friendly and handled the register, food order ups and tray returns all with a smile. Food is made to order and was served in under 10 minutes. OVERALL: Good-sized, priced right and delish!

I would come back here JUST for the amazing garlic fries!! I got a fantastic, perfectly cooked BBQ Burger, subbed Swiss for the cheddar or American. Added pickled jalapeños. I love the bun they use and it was a big burger, very well seasoned & tasty, fresh ingredients. But those FRIES. Wow! I haven't tried garlic fries that good since my last SF Giants home game @ Pac Bell Park where they famously serve Gilroy garlic fries. great service too, cashier was nice, v helpful & fast. Tall Popolo looking young woman. Go to Mahaloha! You can't go wrong!!

A solid burger spot in Ala Moana's Lanai food court, Mahaloha Burger is located near the entrance when coming from the Macy's side. The place is a counter in the food court with the menu behind the counter. There are tables and chairs in the food court, but they can become filled due to customers from all of the businesses. The food court is pretty bright and can become crowded. However, it is smaller than the Makai Marketplace food court on the lower level. The people working were nice and they were quick with the order. I have previously ordered the veggie burger, which is quite good. This time, I got the loco moco burger, which was also good. It was a burger with some kind of sauce that tasted kind of like teri sauce. There was an egg in it too, which was running as I was eating. This made it pretty messy but it was tasty. The burger came with fries, and I like their fries. They are crispy and just the right amount of salty. Hope to come back for this burger again soon!

Pretty good burger, i got the pineapple Teri burger. The teri sauce wasn't very strong, I liked the bun and the meat was cooked medium (I asked for med rare). I really liked the fries which are coated and have a nice crunchy exterior.

Very friendly cashier who's smile was very contagious. Ambiance went to zero after reading how they had a bed bug infestation in their wooden seats...eeew. That's supposedly fixed by now ( 8-19-25.) Their veg burger and fries really filled me up. It's as deluxe as they come, with tomato, lettuce, and grilled onions. Like most places, they have a good mayo/ketchup/relish special sauce to keep it all juicy. For about $15, it's a good deal.

Great service with a great burger experience, The staff was very accommodating. We love the set up of being right in the middle of the mall, perfect spot and seating

Wow I should have stopped by this place sooner. Ordered a Mushroom Swiss Burger with Teri Sauce (addt $1) and Fries. It's a big burger, flavorful, juicy and oh so messy when you eat it all. The fries were cooked to nice crisp that I love. Food came out quick, what more could I ask for. Happy Tummy here, and will be back in the future.

Everyone makes mistakes. Not sure if the staff was overwhelmed that night at the lanai but after a rush of customers they seemed to be frazzled. Food took some time to come out but once it did it was smooth sailing. I got a mahaloha burger with an egg and fries. The burger turned out so ono and the fries took an extra leap ahead of anything I tasted. Big kudos to the people grinding it out in the back! The lanai is one giant food court. Many of the places are excellent but I was feeling like a burger and got it that night for dinner. The entire food court echos so if you're not into that then maybe go elsewhere. I will say it's a great place to tell story and get loud and crazy though! haha.

Recently had a hamburger at somewhere else in Ala Moana so this rating is in comparison to that burger that I ate at the other place. This review is just for the cheese burger as I did not try the other burgers or side orders. Service - 5 stars. Fast order taking and drinks are fast as it is located next to cashier. They also give you a buzzer which is way better than calling out a number or name. Price - 2.5 stars. Little on the expensive side for the quality of the burger. I had #1 - best selling cheeseburger (I did not see any number on the menu without the cheese). Cleanliness - 0 stars. Observed food cleaner who gathers the empty trays around the eating area, (the trays that are placed on top of the trash bins), return a bunch of trays to the cashier, who then takes a rag and brushes off the stuck on food into the sink behind the cashier that is just below where the new food comes out, then hands them back to the kitchen area for reuse, yuck. Food - 2.5 stars, hard to make a bad burger. Cheese burger - bun, cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle - okay. Meat - looks like they use a mold so consistent size, the hamburger beef patty could be made tastier, this is where it lost stars. The low rating is because this is a place that basically specializes in burgers (there are also some hotdog on the menu), so to earn a good rating they would have to beat a place that doesn't specialize in just burgers. If you don't mind waiting, go next door to Liliha Bakery in Macy's for a tasty burger. If you're craving a burger with no time, then you are out of luck as this is the only burger place in this food court.

Mahaloha Burger - Ala Moana Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Mahaloha Burger - Ala Moana

Where is this in the mall?

it's in Lanai "food hall" near Macy's-Starbucks, mall level.

Are the bottom buns suppose to be stiff and harder? I ordered from here recently and everything about the burger was great, but the bottom bun was stiff? Thought that was something new. It didn't look old.

My husband ordered the burger, and the bottom is fine. It may have just been an off day.

We knew we were only going to get one hotdog just to try it out. When we were ready to put in our order, I placed it in with the male worker. As I was saying my order to the worker, my boyfriend had walked away to the side to wait for me. When I finished putting in my order, the worker had asked me if it would have been just one or two hotdogs. I answered him by saying yes just one. Which he then responded by saying, "what, would he rather have a pho?" Clearly seeing my boyfriend was Asian, that was his question for us just getting one hotdog. He said it as if it was funny. I left it alone and waited for the order. I just don't get the point of him having to say that. He didn't even pronounce "pho" right either, he pronounced it as "foe." As for the hotdog itself, it is good. It is on the pricier side of $11 for one but for the price you get with the bun, polish sausage and toppings, it made it for it. Lower stars because of the overall impression.

He's originally from Philly, and as someone from the East Coast, I immediately felt that warm hospitality. John is so sweet, he even offered me the hot dog on the house... completely unexpected, but a true reflection of John's demeanor. I went with the chicken hot dog "John style" (well that is everything but the sauerkraut). I wasn't hesitate about the mustard because I'm usually not a fan but the staff insisted it was more like Dijon mustard anyways. The hotdog was loaded, flavorful, and way better than I expected for someone who usually keeps it simple with the toppings. The bun broke down a bit from all the toppings, but that was to be expected with all the toppings loaded on there. You can't beat the location, it's right outside the Ilikai by the lagoon though the service alone makes this an easy five stars. I'm really happy this ended up being one of my last food experiences living in Hawaii. I'd be eager to see John and his staff again if I return.

And not just anywhere in Kaka'ako, but Mother Waldron Park to be exact, which is literally within walking distance from my workplace. Since I never have the chance to go by Waialae Ave. (their first/main location), I figured that now would be as good a time as any to stop by and see what the hype was all about. I walked over around noon with my boss and coworker and initially, I had panicked as I thought I had misread the post, but for those walking on foot, especially from Punchbowl area, Muki Dogs will be located at the farthest end of the park (adjacent to the food trucks). Just keep walking and you'll be able to spot Gene (the owner) as we had. Once we got to the stand, I had promptly ordered 2 Miso Kake and 1 The Works, to which Gene had jokingly asked if they were all for me. I clarified that 2 of the 3 were mine, so he wasn't completely off the mark, but I felt bad as I have RBF and face masks only serve to increase the severity of said expression, so Gene must've took my response as offended when I was just hangry. But if I had to be perfectly honest, I could easily eat four of these in one sitting and not be sorry lol. In any case, once I had ordered and paid for my dog, my boss and coworker also ordered as well, and Gene went straight to work on our orders. For those visiting for the first time, they currently have two options: 1) The Works, which is a very traditional hot dog with relish, sriracha mayo, ketchup, mustard, and Spanish crumble, and 2) Miso Kake, which is an Asian inspired hot dog full of umami flavors, with pickled scallion, sriracha mayo, miso paste and furikake crumble. I ended up getting one of each for myself since I wanted to see what the difference was in terms of flavors. Gene is really quick too as I believe it only took about 5-10 minutes, if even that long, to prep our orders, and my boss had even commented that Gene had some Top Chef moves when it came to our orders. Before we knew it, Gene thanked us for waiting and gave us a bag (no charge) full of our hot dogs and we headed back to the office for a taste test. So for those short on time, this would be a perfect place to stop by and grab a quick bite. I wasn't sure what to expect from a vegan hot dog, but I know one of the things that stood out to me about most of the reviews for Muki Dogs was that it didn't actually taste like a vegan hot dog. So with that in mind, I dug into The Works first and absolutely loved every bite I took. I think what's great about The Works is that because it mimics a traditional hot dog with the ketchup , mustard, and relish, it's almost as if your mind automatically makes the connection, and with the addition of the sriracha mayo and the Spanish crumble, there's an additional creamy, slightly spicy, and crunchy component that only emphasizes how delicious the hot dog is. In fact, I can very well see how someone could easily not even realize they were eating a vegan hot dog (it was that good!). The Miso Kake was also a good option and a perfect alternative for someone looking for a different type of hot dog. The miso paste and the sriracha mayo lend a nice creamy/salty flavor base for the pickled scallions and the furikake crumble, and the texture you get from each bite is absolutely divine. However, I do think that if you're not a fan of umami flavors, that this might not be the hot dog for you as it does somewhat emphasize the vegan hot dog more so than The Works. Overall, if you happen to be in the area or are interested in trying out a vegan hot dog, I would highly recommend visiting Gene at the Muki Dogs stand, especially as they are now stationed in Kaka'ako, which is quite convenient for anyone who has wanted to visit but never found the time to do so. The hot dogs are a little on the pricier side, but nothing like Hank's Haute Dogs nearby, and you will be left feeling full and content without the regret. Plus, Gene seems like a really nice guy who cares about the food that he makes, and it shows not just in the way he makes the hot dogs but also in the way that the flavors come through. And if that doesn't sell you, well...aren't you at least a little bit curious as to what a vegan hot dog tastes like? Best stop by to find out!

Follow that big yellow sign!!!…read more Burgers & Burritos Hawaii I found at the Honolulu Farmers Market every Wednesday night market at the Blaisdell Center and at apparently at a few more that I'm not able to get to but their huge yellow sign says "Mexican Food Gourmet Burgers" in huge font so it can get confusing but so easy to find. Once you're there it's exactly that Mexican Food and Gourmet Burgers...and hot dogs! Well that's what I was actully craving...Island-Style Sonoran Dog. Bacon wrapped hot dog topped with grilled onions, pico de Gallo, guacamole, garlic aioli, sour cream and mustard all for $9. What a loaded dog it certainly was and it was made to order and is certainly worth just a couple minutes wait. So saucy and flavorful this bite was incredible the pico de Gallo just added the freshness that I loved, the bacon who doesn't love that was a nice salty touch and sour cream and garlic aioli just made it that much more bougie, Yup and with their name it's all about the burgers and Mexican foods which they have an impressive list to choose from...I got my eye on the Portabella Sandwich and Big Burrito (which they can make vegetarian) cause I dare you to pass this place when you can smell the grill going omg!! All made to order so you can have the topping of our choice with our without items you want. Thank you!

Burgers + Burritos = Happiness!!!…read more During several foraging visits at the Honolulu Farmers Market, we have passed by Burgers & Burritos Hawaii (BBHI) as aromas of their fresh grilling hamburgers or toasting flour tortillas would fill the air. We've passed by enough times to have "studied" their menu so that we could decisively order once we patiently waited in line for our turn. We'd watch the female worker who worked as an order taker, cashier, and plate prep while the male worker focused his grilling skills on the plancha (similar to a flat top griddle). This food stall definitely gets busy as we've seen and been in lines of 10-deep. There was something in the back of my mind that told me that I had either read or heard about BBHI before and sure enough, Yelp Bud Fran C wrote an effusive review about BBHI in April 2020. Their burger menu offers 4 different styles: Classic, Hawaiian, Specialty, or Portabello. BBHI also offers an Island-style Sonoran Dog which is an all-beef hot dog wrapped in bacon and grilled and topped with onions, bell peppers, and roasted garlic aïoli. I didn't ask what qualifies this dish as "Island-style" but I'm assuming that it's because it's NOT your typical Sonoran dog that is served with beans, tomatoes, onions, jalapeño sauce, and mayonnaise. As good as these burgers and Sonoran dog looked, we came to BBHI for their LA-inspired taqueria Mexican food. Oh, how I looked forward to having my taste buds tickled with Cal-Mex specialties. So, we ordered the following items. -Chile Verde Plate: The menu described this dish as braised tender pork chunks in their homemade green chile sauce (Chile Verde). The Chile Verde is served as a choice of either burrito-style or on a plate with rice and black beans. Condiments on this plate were dollops of guacamole and sour cream or was it crema (Mexican sour cream)? Indeed, this chile Verde made from tomatillos, poblanos, and jalapeños had some spice kick but was easily mellowed by the crema. I rolled some of the flavorful pork chile Verde into the steaming hot street taco corn tortillas and found myself wanting another 2 more tortillas to sop up the sauce. This takeout plate was generously portioned and I still got full even though I shared it with my husband. $11. -Quesadilla with Meat: My husband chose chicken meat from among beef, pork, and chicken to fill this quesadilla. The flour tortilla quesadilla was loaded with pico de gallo and lots of cheese. There were dollops of guacamole and crema to complement the quesadilla. My husband asked for a couple of containers of red salsa to accompany his quesadilla. He warned me that the red salsa was spicier than the chile Verde which I had already found out about after dipping a piece of chicken from a quesadilla and feeling the chile burn in my throat. $10 The menu items at BBHI are limited but are flavorful and really remind me of LA's Guisado's or Roast-To-Go. Prices are reasonable for the fresh made-to-order food and the service is friendly. We'd gladly return to try more of their Cal-Mex offerings or if we're in the mood for a burger, their Classic cheeseburger looks quite appetizing. We'll be back again since both burgers and burritos DO make us Happy!
