After some shopping, it was time for lunch. Since we were near the Lanai food hall, we decided to come here to grab a bite to eat. Checking out the options here, I decided to get a burger here. Having had a burger at another location before, I remembered it was the loco moco burger and decided to order it again. The burger was thick and juicy. The vegetarian/vegan offerings in this Ala Moana food court are a bit few and far between, especially if like me you have an egg allergy. You definitely need to ask around a bit when you have a food allergy, and that gets harder when there are lines of people at every food kiosk. I was told the veggie burger here was egg free after explaining to the person at the counter and also the other worker they called over to talk to me, and mentioned a couple of times that I also could not have mayo on the burger for the same reason. However, when my burger came out, it had been liberally slathered in mayo. They were quick to fix it once I flagged someone down, but I was perplexed by the speed given how long the original order had taken, and part of me wonders if they just wiped the mayo off and stuck it on a new bun and then plopped it back into the same container with the same fries (which I could tell were the same fries because a little mayo had gotten on some of the fries, too). That aside, the veggie burger tasted like a fairly standard Garden Burger from the grocery store frozen aisle, so the patty probably really is egg free, but my stomach was a bit off afterwards. The fries were fine, and I left behind any that visibly had mayo on them (my husband was too full to eat them, since he got both ramen and a pastry elsewhere in the court). We probably will be in this food court again since Ala Moana is a convenient place to meet up with some of our friends, but I will probably try to find other places to eat that can better handle food allergies. read more

Workers are LAZY. At 7:45 they stopped taking orders. The counter people are very cordial and pleasant and very friendly; however, it's the workers in the kitchen that control the service. Their products are good. However, when the business gets real busy, the quality of the product becomes sloppy. By 7:30 pm, the kitchen workers just want to clean up an leave. So go read another review if you're wondering about their burgers LOL Anyways, location is pretty convenient and easy considering it's in a foodcourt in a major mall. I absolutely cannot blame them for any parking or location issues because they lucked out getting a good location and it's right by the door too! The biggest thing to watch out for in this location is your spot in line since the foot traffic can get crazy since it's by the door. A lot people will walk around you while you're in line so just make sure you know who is in front and even in back of you. Now, why am I reviewing this place? Because the grilled cheese was great! Again, I'm not a burger person and honestly, I try not to buy food at Ala Moana because I know I'm paying " tourist prices," but I was hungry and needed something to hold me over to get me home. I noticed the $7 price and saw it was for grilled cheese and fries. Any meal that is under $10 seemed worth it to me so I got it. I gotta admit, for something so simple, it did it's job. ATMOSPHERE: Located in the Lanai food court at Ala Moana Center, they share communal indoor & outdoor tables with other eateries. MENU: Beef, chicken, fish & veggie burgers and hot dogs. FOOD: Mushroom Swiss with Fries Excellent burger with a nice char, perfectly seasoned, and dressed well with mayo & mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato, sautéed mushrooms and onions. The patty was slightly bigger than the bun too. The fries were a thicker shoestring that stayed crispy on its journey back to our hotel. Highly recommended. A solid burger spot in Ala Moana's Lanai food court, Mahaloha Burger is located near the entrance when coming from the Macy's side. The place is a counter in the food court with the menu behind the counter. There are tables and chairs in the food court, but they can become filled due to customers from all of the businesses. The food court is pretty bright and can become crowded. However, it is smaller than the Makai Marketplace food court on the lower level. The people working were nice and they were quick with the order. I have previously ordered the veggie burger, which is quite good. This time, I got the loco moco burger, which was also good. It was a burger with some kind of sauce that tasted kind of like teri sauce. There was an egg in it too, which was running as I was eating. This made it pretty messy but it was tasty. Very friendly cashier who's smile was very contagious. Ambiance went to zero after reading how they had a bed bug infestation in their wooden seats...eeew. That's supposedly fixed by now ( 8-19-25.) Everyone makes mistakes. Not sure if the staff was overwhelmed that night at the lanai but after a rush of customers they seemed to be frazzled. Food took some time to come out but once it did it was smooth sailing. I got a mahaloha burger with an egg and fries. The burger turned out so ono and the fries took an extra leap ahead of anything I tasted. Big kudos to the people grinding it out in the back! The lanai is one giant food court. Many of the places are excellent but I was feeling like a burger and got it that night for dinner. The entire food court echos so if you're not into that then maybe go elsewhere. Recently had a hamburger at somewhere else in Ala Moana so this rating is in comparison to that burger that I ate at the other place. This review is just for the cheese burger as I did not try the other burgers or side orders. Service - 5 stars. Fast order taking and drinks are fast as it is located next to cashier. They also give you a buzzer which is way better than calling out a number or name. Price - 2.5 stars. Little on the expensive side for the quality of the burger. I had #1 - best selling cheeseburger (I did not see any number on the menu without the cheese). Cleanliness - 0 stars. Observed food cleaner who gathers the empty trays around the eating area, (the trays that are placed on top of the trash bins), return a bunch of trays to the cashier, who then takes a rag and brushes off the stuck on food into the sink behind the cashier that is just below where the new food comes out, then hands them back to the kitchen area for reuse, yuck. Food - 2.5 stars, hard to make a bad burger. Cheese burger - bun, cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle - okay. Meat - looks like they use a mold so consistent size, the hamburger beef patty could be made tastier, this is where it lost stars. The low rating is because this is a place that basically specializes in burgers (there are also some hotdog on the menu), so to earn a good rating they would have to beat a place that doesn't specialize in just burgers. If you don't mind waiting, go next door to Liliha Bakery in Macy's for a tasty burger. If you're craving a burger with no time, then you are out of luck as this is the only burger place in this food court. read more

Frequent this place all the time, my husband loves the burgers. I told him to get me a soda, $5 for a bottle soda. That didn't bother me either. But I took a sip and soda was warm, I went back to the counter to ask for a cup of ice and employee told me you need to pay for the cup. I said do you just have a water cup because the soda is warm, no, and if you didn't open your soda I would give you a cold one. Sorry. I walked away because I didn't want to yell at a young girl for not understanding customer service. My husband on the other hand got upset. The cook in the back I guess came out and gave my husband the cup. I have managed restaurants and retail stores. I would have given the cup so my customers could enjoy their meal. Mahalohas Burger is solid! I ordered the Avocado Chicken Swiss with fries and was pleasantly surprised--the chicken was juicy and not dry at all. The flavors were well-balanced, and the avocado and sauce complemented the sandwich nicely. I do wish there was a bit more sauce, but overall it was very tasty. The fries were fresh and crisp. I also got two kids' meals (sliders and fries), and the service was great. The lady at the counter was very attentive--she even asked whether I wanted the burgers cooked medium-well or well-done for the kids, and whether it was okay for them to have Coke. He said he was hungry for onion rings, but came back with onion rings and truffle fries. They were both delicious. The onion rings were nicely breaded, fried golden brown and huge. The onions on the inside were tender and naturally sweet. The truffle fries are perfection every time. I'm not sure if it's the potato they use or the oil, but it's head and shoulders above the rest. The start of 2024 is upon us! I couldn't think of any way to start than to travel to Ala Moana and find a place to eat. It led me to Mahaloha Burger. My expectations were a little mixed, but after thinking about how many times I passed this place, I decided that, you know what, it's time I go ahead and go for it. Sure enough, I was right to go over there. I ordered their signature Loco Moco burger. Although it did cost me $10 and some change, it was worth the wait. I couldn't wait to dig right into it. I liked what I ate from top to bottom. Everything about it made perfect sense. It tasted like I'm enjoying a Loco Moco, but replaced with a brioche bun instead of rice. It eats like a Loco Moco, tastes like a Loco Moco, and, surprisingly feels like I'm enjoying one. The pickle chips, I didn't taste them that much because they sort of get lost with all the other flavors going on inside. Overall though, I really enjoyed their food. Would I recommend this place? We stumbled across the upper food court at the Ala Moana Center not expecting to buy anything but Mahaloha Burger's loco moco dog really called out to us. It was sooo good! We regretted only finding this place on our last day in Hawaii. We checked it out when we came back 3 years later but they didn't have the loco moco dog on the menu anymore. We were so sad! It's not a wrap but rather 2 lettuce leaves on each side of the burger. I leaves were actually brown. I had asked them to please change the lettuce. Both cooks in the back gave me a long stare as they only exchanged one of the lettuce wraps. The other was ripped and brown-ish areas. The fries were "so so". I tried calling in an order a little after 5pm and the woman on the phone hesitated before answering with, "I have to put you on hold." I thought, okay it won't be that long of a wait, but as 10 minutes passed by, I could tell I wasn't going to get anywhere and hung up shortly after. I've been trying to call back since I hung up, but the line is now offline. I get that you may have customers in line trying to order, but you can't completely disregard people on the phone trying to give you business. This person clearly didn't want the extra work of taking phone orders, so instead she just left the phone and never bothered to take a couple of minutes to take my order or even check to see if I was still on hold. Wouldn't be surprised if she never checks the phone for the rest of the night, or weekend, for that matter. Where's the manager when you need one?! read more

Came here on our last day because we were craving burgers. Food came out fast, there's plenty of seating in the food court. Loved how they had some more Hawaiian options. We made a last minute decision to come here because the reviews and prices looked decent, and I was craving a good burger. boy, were we impressed. those truffle fries and the burgers were perfection. we got the bbq bacon burger and the mushroom and swiss burger, with truffle fries and garlic fries. our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because it was a real challenge to finish everything! soft potato bun with medium and juicy beef patty, and a generous amount of the requested fixings. my only comment would be to identify on the menu that there are pickles in every burger!! I hate pickles and was so sad picking them out because their juice soaked into my bread. the fries were fantastic. super crispy on the outside, fluffy potato on the inside! they toss all the fries in the seasoning, not just a puny sprinkle on top, so we got truffle and garlic all the way through the fries. I never thought I'd say this but there was too much raw garlic on the garlic fries. at first it was good, but after a while it's just so overpowering, and the fries don't have much garlic flavor on their own without the raw bits. however, the truffle fries were amazing! I love that they tossed everything together so you could taste the truffle even on the last fry. I hate to say this but I found a hair stuck to the bottom of my burger bun. at first I thought it could be my own, but there's no way one of my hairs would have flown around the burger and attached itself to the bun. I'd like to give this place 5 stars, but because of the hair I can only do 4. the Lanai foodcourt at Ala Moana mall is one of the nicest food courts I've ever visited, so make sure you stop by and try a burger at Mahaloha! read more

It's been a while since frequenting Ala Moana and decided to try a local hamburger stand ("Mahaloha Burger") instead some mainland-owned chain.....WRONG MOVE and WHAT WAS I THINKING?????...... Ordered the "Double Cheeseburger" meal, the order-taker was "Keola W.".......asked Keola what's on the burger, he replied "two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and sauce".....told him "only cheese, beef, lettuce and tomato"...... Keola read back the order confirming "lettuce and tomato".......it appears HE FAILED TO MENTION THIS IMPORTANT FACT TO THE COOK!!! When upon receiving the order, got the burger and a "pinch" of fries (guess there's a potato famine somewhere)......and the burger had cheese, lettuce, tomato AND sauce!!! Took the sandwich back and mentioned to Keola that didn't want sauce.......his response was "you didn't say 'no sauce'" (what part of ONLY LETTUCE, TOMATO AND CHEESE failed to register in his brain.....or does Keola have a short attention span......or should I have spoken slower.......or used smaller words?????)...... Again repeated "I didn't want sauce"......Keola's response was "you can scrape it off".......WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT????? Ended up THROWING THE MEAL AWAY and went to Liliha Bakery for lunch.....the service there was STELLAR in contrast to Mahaloha Burger!!!!......much like comparing a Lexus to a Trabant.....or an eagle to a dodo bird...... Rather than 'fess up for the oversight (or even just swap out the bun), Keola felt the need to debate......back in college worked a fast food chain and from day one.....was taught NEVER ARGUE WITH THE CUSTOMER.....call for a manager to resolve the concern.....possibly Keola missed out (or fell asleep) during that IMPORTANT LESSON......
