    Chicken Rice Soup
    Andy F.

After recovering from a non-covid related fever and cold, I had no energy to prepare lunch for the next day. Eating outside is usually not the healthiest or the best food to eat when still recuperating. I wanted--needed--something warm and easy to digest. Rice soup was the first thing on my mind, and the closest place from Downtown that offered rice soup was Wiki Wiki Drive Inn located in Restaurant Row. Is it still called that? Wiki Wiki Drive Inn is a quick Local Chinese, plate lunch takeout place that's pretty similar to Loco Moco and L&L. I think the people who own it have an L&L too as I noticed an employee wearing an L&L t-shirt. I'm always wary of these places that appear to cater to the Western/Local taste. Well, at least it offers Chicken Rice Soup. Sadly, when I went, they had sold out! The next best thing was Wonton Noodle Soup. I've had awful experiences with local style, super size wontons, full of fatty, sinewy pork, and loads of salt and MSG. Luckily, it was the total opposite, and very good. It was somewhat close to authentic. The broth was light, which was perfect for recovery, and spot on with the chicken based taste and a hint of shrimp/seafood taste. The wontons were decent with slightly bland pork filling. The bad part is these wontons were pre-boiled, dried out, and just sat in a container. The darker tones on the wrapper were obvious, and those parts were dry and tough, so I just shoved them to the bottom to heat up and soften some more. The noodles were the thicker "saimin" variety, not thin Hong Kong style noodles. They were good with some bite to it, but it was on the floury and pasty side. My next visit, I finally got to try the Chicken Rice Soup, and I was not disappointed at all. It was exactly how rice soup should be made with the exploded/broken rice. The taste was slightly on the bland side for me, but still very acceptable. The soup was smooth and creamy with notes of chicken and ginger flavor. The chicken was chunks of chicken thigh, which were tender and tasty. They really need a new photo for their menu. It's totally different from how it's pictured. I thought it was shredded chicken meat at first. My third visit, I ordered some real food. The Honey Garlic Chicken. No one posted a photo of this dish, so I wasn't sure how it looked. My first thought was the fried, bite size version, like L&L, but it wasn't that at all! The chicken was boneless thighs, pan fried nicely, and soaked in a delectable, flavorful honey garlic sauce that was sweet, savory, and garlicky. This was really good! Again, this was on the lighter side, which was no problem. Overall, I enjoyed everything at Wiki Wiki Drive Inn. It really surprised me, and exceeded expectations. The food was light, clean, tasty with spot-on flavors, and dare I say, healthier. It was the opposite of an L&L. The ladies working here are very friendly and cheerful. The prices are definitely affordable for a filling and healthy meal. You can opt for brown rice and tossed salad instead of the usual white rice and mac salad.

    Chicken Katsu

I like the Chicken Katsu that comes with a tasty sauce and it is a local style. It is served quickly yet hot.

Loco moco plate. Missing the egg and meat patty.

Ordered through Uber eats because I wanted some breakfast food but that was a huge mistake. The loco moco arrived only with rice and gravy. Missing the egg and meat patty. The corned beef hash was trash. Tasted like stale potatoes and had very little corned beef. Mostly potatoes as you can see in the color shown in the pic. You'd be lucky to get more than a few strands of corned beef in each bite. Absolutely terrible food.

craving a spam musubi, plate lunch, or even almond cookies? you best be stopping by wiki wiki drive inn located at waterfront plaza (formerly known as restaurant row). they sit in between tamura's market and image city in the street level of tower 2. they accept cash and debit/credit card and the 2 people who assist you are so friendly. you can conveniently park in the parking lot, where you may need to pay a small fee, or find street parking. if you work in the area, even bettah. my go to here are there already made spam musubi's, and almond cookies. as i can just grab - pay - and go. other items on their menu that i like is the chicken cutlet. you can also do a combination plate. their prices are so reasonable, and they give you a great portion. and they have other awesome plates. they also sell canned drinks, tea cookies, candy as well. so if you are in the area, stop by and get your fix of some good plate lunches.

    Val D.

Considering of all the restaurants in restaurant row, this is one of the cheaper restaurants serving local plate lunch. They give a good amount of size for $7, but the quality isn't as good as the neighboring lunch trucks in downtown: Honey Garlic Chicken - 3 stars - taste is great, more like chicken cutlet, but it was cold because it was sitting out on the burners, and it wasn't kept warmed enough. Hawaiian Roast Pork - 3 stars your average roast pork with gravy.

Let me first say that the food here is not the best at all. I think its actually a 1 or 2 star place. Their coffee sucks, the morning breakfasts are more rice than anything. The bacon is cold and unsatisfying as well as the eggs... BUT... (big BUT) like many good businesses, they have one thing that stands out. LOCATION. Man, I see so much people go there in the morning and for lunch. Hell, I go there too and I'm a picky guy. They are in the right spot and are just so darn convenient! The people are friendly, the service is pretty quick. Gets 3 stars from me...

The croissant sandwich with egg and cheese bacon and mayonnaise.

10/10 would recommend the croissant sandwich it's so good. Also the lady is Soo sweet

Had a glass of wine and baby had watered down lemonade. Her drinks were put in plastic cups with covers and those horrible paper straws. Eyes always bigger than my stomach, we ordered: - Cornbread - when i grabbed it I thought would be super dense but really wasn't. I thought it was very corny and tasty. Lightly toasted. Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. Baby ate some but was not really thrilled about it. I loved it. - Scallop and Mushroom Risotto - YUM. Delish. Baby liked it too. So much leftovers of everything. Realized when we ate it for leftovers it was all pretty oily and needed a pinch of salt. But otherwise great. Staff really nice and helpful. Love that the place is spread out and open. Bathrooms are not assigned which I'm sure can get gross, but is great to not have to wait for just the women's. There is a big stall which was perf since baby is potty training and had to go #1 and #2! Only thing missing was a hook to hang my purse and her bag. Great dinner...but if anyone is listening...bring back the shrimp and grits!!!

We ordered drinks and took around 15 mins to come, then we looked for our server to order our food. The appetizers cane out in a timely manner but our entrees took quite a while. The Duck Confit was yummy! I thought the duck was going to be super dry, but when you eat it with the jam that came with it, it's very good. I requested for a little bit more of the jam but was given just balsamic glaze... My friend said her scallop risotto was watery and not the same as the last time she went. My bfs prime rib was okay. Bone marrow was okay. The chicken pasta, octopus appetizer, salad, and mac n cheese were lacking flavor and tasted okay. I would recommend dining here if you do not have plans after.

The employee took it and immediately hung up on me--no name taken, no "thank you," no "goodbye." When I arrived, the parking was a mess, so I had to be dropped off. After 30 minutes of total waiting time, I finally went up to check on my order, only to find out the cashier hadn't even handed my ticket to the kitchen yet. She sent it back right in front of me without a single word of apology--just a blank stare. I cancelled my order on the spot. Horrible service, zero management, and low-quality food prep.
