I love this place. To be honest, I started going over the summer (its a perk of being around the corner from my gym!) and I was frustrated because of how inconsistent the smoothies were. I just learned to try other things, like the PB powerhouse bowl and now I am in love. The granola (which you can buy a bag for only $4, and its better than anything you will ever have bought in a grocery store) is my favorite. Somethings here are not for everyone (the nutella latte is not for me haha, but someone else may enjoy it!), and I think there needs to be more of a routine with the employees and how they prepare items, but this is a great place. The owner is a sweetheart who really is trying to make food that we all love better for us all and I had so much fun at the yoga event that they hosted last Sunday there. read more

I adore Zest. Their Caesar is one of my faves and I love all the treats! HOWEVER. We go 1-2 times a week. I had a pumpernickel bagel once and it's haunted me ever since because it is SO GOOD. Doesn't matter what time we show up now. There are never pumpernickel bagels. The regular ones are whatever and if it's the choice between regular bagel or none I go none. I came here recently for the first time because my brother was staying with me and he is a vegetarian. I thought this would be right up his alley and it totally was. We both got the breakfast sandwich on their chickpea flatbread instead of the gluten free bread. I didn't like it but my brother said he would eat here every day if they had one in Boston. I did enjoy the chocolate chip banana bread. So good! This place is my go-to for a quick craving fix without feeling like crud. They have the most delicious sweet treats! Meanwhile the brownie I'm devouring is made up of sweet potato!? No guilt here! They also serve delectable acai bowls, fresh brewed Kombucha on tap, cauliflower "buffalo chicken" balls (vegan), pizza (vegan)... to name some favorites! It's really a blessing to have this place close to my work as you can get a healthy lunch around the corner. The avocado toast has been a recent favorite of mine but I'm always looking to try new things. They allow you to purchase meal preps which is also a new millennial craze (personally I meal prep myself but it's cool to see you can get an outside resource to do this for you). I tried this as a healthy lunch option while I was out and about. I have to say I was disappointed in the service and atmosphere. The staff was mostly teenagers, not overly inviting. The menu was overwhelming, and not extremely appealing. After paying they didn't offer a receipt or say anything, leaving me standing there unsure what to do while I waited for my order. I ordered a Mediterranean krust, which was literally one slice of gluten free toast with sliced cherry tomatoes on it, tasty, but very overpriced. I ordered this to go, and they just handed me a cardboard box--no napkin, fork, etc. The Berry simple smoothie was good, despite the brown banana chunks at the bottom. Zest has this cute little store. There was easy parking and was open very early! They had a great array of menu options. I was automatically drawn to the açaí bowls. I got the mermaid bowl. The order was immediately placed and I got my bowl within minutes. I was very impressed. Physically, the bowl was very vibrant and tastefully decorates. I found that there was just the right amount of banana, homemade granola, and coconut. The blend was very smooth and rich in flavor. I LOVE kombucha and this was the first time I've seen kombucha on tap....can I have one for home? They have a great little section of refrigerated snacks to go and little treats all over the store. Today I went with the blue mermaid bowl-amazing creamy and not too sweet; a strawberry sage kombucha; and a chickpea cacao brownie for the road. I've been waiting for a place like this to open! Super healthy, delicious and nutritious food. I came here for lunch twice. I tried the basicKALEy salad which included marinated kale, red cabbage, shaved carrots, beets, sunflower seeds and brown rice. The tahini dressing is delish! I added grilled chicken. It's the perfect filling portion that leaves you feeling satisfied and good about your decision. I also tried the Asian Chopped salad with organic quinoa, carrots, cucumber, avocado and delicious balsamic dressing. I also added grilled chicken to this salad. You can get grilled tofu if you're a vegetarian. The Nuts over Chocolate Mini Muffins are my fav. You HAVE TO get these. They are so cute and little - the perfect size and so satisfying. The sweet potato brownie bars are super rich and bittersweet (which I love). Honestly...the double chocolate cookie should be illegal! I don't know how something so amazing is GF, DF and Vegan. The coffee is amaze and I love how there is almond milk which is pretty much all I drink coffee-wise. I will be coming back here for more goodies and I will be updating my review! read more

If you're trying to eat somewhat clean, this is a place that you have to check out. I love the Green Machine bowl (organic spinach, avocado, banana, homemade granola, hemp seeds, almond butter drizzle). It's about $10 but soooo great after your workout or even just for breakfast. Staff's super friendly. The bowl looked a little small to me at first but it was quite filling. They also have some fun treats and bars. I was in the area dropping off my film at the nearby camera store. I am not from the area so I googled nearby vegan restaurants and zest popped up. I excitedly drove to the restaurant, as I was extremely hungry. After I looked over the menu, I asked the girl behind the counter if everything on the menu was vegan and she replied, "everything is gluten free, dairy free, and vegan." So when she asked me if I wanted "chicken" on my poke bowl, I agreed because I assumed it was a plant based soy protein chicken. Upon receiving my food, I started eating my bowl immediately but started questioning whether the meat was indeed vegan. So I called back the restaurant and the girl who replied confirmed that it was indeed actual chicken. I was devastated, as my reasons for being vegan are due to my ethical beliefs of not wanting to eat animals and this had been my first time in a really long time. She proclaimed they will make me a new bowl. I brought my bowl inside and although I tried to contain my emotions, I was very upset at the situation. The girl behind the counter (not the one who told me it was vegan) seemed slightly callous to the situation. She did offer me tofu which was nice but was not apologetic at the situation at all and in fact seemed a little annoyed that I was annoyed. The girl who had originally served me was apologetic and so I tried my best to get over it. I really don't do too many reviews but I just wanted to ask you guys to please make it clear when it comes to these things and please be more empathetic to the situation. Eating a piece of chicken by accident may seem like it's not a big deal and like I was overreacting but we do not all view these issues the same way. I just hope there is clearer communication and definitely more empathy and space for us vegans in the future. That is all! Great place to get my healthy gluten free food and treats in the morning. I really enjoy their breakfast bun and tumeric latte!

I honestly love zest and I usually go there for the smoothies, but there has been multiple times that they rush and the smoothie comes out very watery or not completely blended. The last smoothies I received were the worst, which is why I decided to give feedback. One had large chunks of spinach and the other was the consistency of water and tasted like likalmond milk. I don't mind paying extra for vegan/ gluten free food, but I would appreciate it if they took their time. UPDATE: They fixed it and were very polite about it. I ordered from Zest for the first time the other week. My fiancé and I had just moved in right down the street, and I have been dying to try this place out. I actually ordered it online to have it delivered to me... which was very easy and fast. My acai bowl came and it was DELICIOUS! I would go to playabowls and order (pretty much) the same thing, but this was so natural and organic and so fresh that it was a whole new experience. Wow! So I know that I REALLY liked a place when I cannot wait to go back. Saw their smoothie bowls featured in my local newspaper and had to check it out. Super cute and quaint place with many, many healthy options. I opted for the Blue Mermaid smoothie bowl, which did not disappoint (and was totally Instagram worthy). Their house made gluten free granola is INSANELY delicious!!! Pricing was totally fair given the quality of the ingredients and the fact that I most likely wouldn't keep something like blue green algae on hand (though maybe I should?!). Found out about this amazing place from a friend and it exceeded my expectations!! Even though it is 30+ minutes away from where I live it is well worth it!! I've tried almost all of of their baked goods and I honestly can say they are all delicious ! It' amazes me how they have perfected these sweets! They are so healthy and delicious and way tastier then the unhealthy sugar store bought versions. Everything is homemade and it shows! Went out on a small walk with a friend of mine and we wanted to grab some food, turns out this place was within driving range. Located in Fairfield, zest has really yummy meals and snacks that are free of gluten and dairy for everyone to enjoy and feel great! I really feel like a ball of energy and happiness when I eat here. I had a chocolate peanut bubba smoothie and a sweet potato brownie. The smoothie was very rich, if you like PB and dark chocolate, you'll like this. The banana really adds to it. The sweet potato brownie, never would have thought it was made with sweet potato and pumpkin puree, the cocoa powder and the organic maple syrup and the chocolate chips make it really decadent and flavorful. I liked the food so much I ended up ordering one of their snacks, I ordered the oatmeal chocolate chip cereal bites. Rough texture in a good way, but really good heated up with almond milk, the chocolate chips really heighten the flavor. The place is fairly small with a nice green background, great place to stop by after a run. They offer organic kombucha on tap, various teas, matcha lattes, cold brews, sandwiches, mini muffins, and various other sweets. I've been wanting to come here for a while after learning that they served healthy foods that were gluten-free and vegan! I came here for the first time last week and ordered a garbanzo veggie frittata, cacao cookies and sweet potato brownies. All of which did NOT disappoint!! So yummy and so excited that there's a healthy spot to come to 15 minutes away home. The owner is rude and unfriendly to customers she does not like and she makes it subtle but obvious. I think the term is passive aggressive. There is also another young girl in the front who is rude and unfriendly. This place gives a chilly and catty vibe. The man who works there is very nice but the owner and another young girl in the front are very transparent in terms of not liking certain customers or being annoyed by them.
