I was on the hunt for something healthy for lunch and stumbled upon My Salad in my Yelp search! It's not far from me at all so figured why not. My Salad has a big selection of signature salads along with warm bowls, wraps and toasties (toasted sandwiches) or you can create your own. There's plenty to choose from! I had the My Shrimp Taco Salad and a bag of chips and took it to go. Total cost was $19 which is pretty typical of most salad / bowls that you get in NYC and the surrounding tri-state area. I parked in the sprawling lot and walked into the quick-service spot, which was very fast-food-ish looking and reminded me of a Subway or something similar, rather than a more modern chain like Just Salad. I walked up to the counter to look at the salad topping options for building my own bowl. Aside from various types of proteins, I found the other vegetable items rather standard, with little out of the ordinary. However, I was thrilled that the base price included 7 vegetable/fruit topping options, which was more than most places provided. The staff was extremely friendly and gracious, even offering to toss the salad for me before placing it in the to-go container. When I got home and tried the salad, I found everything to be very fresh, and I really appreciated the tender, flavorful grilled chicken I had wisely included. I was really looking forward to a fresh, healthy meal, but unfortunately, I found bugs mixed in with the greens. At first I thought it was just debris, but after looking closer, it was definitely insects. Totally ruined my appetite. I understand that produce can sometimes have issues, but this should've been caught during washing or prep. It's unacceptable for something like that to make it to a customer. I ended up throwing out the meal, which was frustrating and honestly gross. Was looking for something healthy for lunch and came across this spot. I ordered online. I ordered the chipotle ranch burrito. When I arrived I parked in the plaza and walked in. I asked where the pick up area was and they directed me and pulled my order. I thanked them and left. When I ate the burrito was very good. I really liked the chipotle sauce on the burrito. This is the healthiest option in this outdoor strip mall with lots of other fast food temptations. I went with the warm bowl, make it myself and pleased to be able to add simple, simply prepared ingredients as my choices to build my bowl. I'll try a salad when it's a little warmer. I left a cash tip and that seemed to prompt the gent who paid at the same time as he then also dropped something in the bucket. Finally a place that delivers and gets the order correct and the food is great ! After multiple bad experiences with their competitor we have them a try. I live in Rutherford but I found this hidden gem when I came to a meeting with my accountant in Fairfield. Whereas SaladWorks lettuce looks and tastes like dumpster lettuce, MySalad lettuce and toppings are always fresh and varied and tasty. Never ever disappointed here. Ever. Ever!!! The dressings are delish. Portions are good. Staff always friendly and pleasant. I legit go out of my way to come as often as I can. Great place! Salad was very fresh and the service was great. You can order online via their website for pickup and skip the line to a register just for take out when you go to pick it up. They also have a free rewards card that you can sign up for through their site, as well. I had a "Make Your Own" salad with spinach, goat cheese, dried cranberries, tomatoes and grilled chicken.
