I've loved Zaxby's since I lived in Georgia and was very happening in learning there were some now in Texas. This location is near my job. I normally get the Wings & Things Combo which is always good. Hot Honey Mustard wings are very good. Their salads are also good as well including the toast that comes with the meals. I will definitely continue going to Zaxby's for my wings & chicken finger cravings while in the area. Unlike the other reviewers I actually had a good experience at Zaxby's today. The three of us ate for $18. The dining area was pretty empty and there was only one girl at the counter. She was very patient with me because I took about 10 minutes to decide what I wanted and asked a lot of questions. The decor was nice and the bathrooms were very clean and did not smell which is always good. I liked reading their witty posters hanging throughout the restaurant. My favorite was the napcano one - start building your napkin volcano. Hubby got the wings and things meal which came with buffalo wings, chicken tenders, celery sticks, Texas toast and he substituted fries for the onion rings. You get to pick your flavor on the wings so he got the XXX insane sauce. It was definitely hot and he actually started to sweat. The pieces were actually pretty big with just enough sauce and moist. Wingstop overcooks theirs and it tends to dry out. And buffalo wild wings are small and their sauces are blah. Hubby prefers Sonic's onion rings but my son preferred Zaxby's. Good Texas toast. I had the chicken tenders sandwich. The tenders were moist on the inside but was on the salty side. I could not finish half of it. Hubby said my sensitivity to salt was on overdrive today. I like their crinkle cut fries. They were crispy and had good seasoning. My son had their kid's nibbler meal. The meal comes with a snack size chicken tender sandwich with special sauce, drink and a snack (Scooby Graham crackers). He loved the special sauce and fries. He was a happy camper. Well let me say that there is a stark contrast between the two locations. The food that I received today was literally some worst food that I've ever had before!! For starters, Zaxby's is the only place that I know of, where I can get wings, that has a drive thru. I'm always on the go and the presence of a drive thru greatly determines whether or not I will make a stop. Now, I'm fairly sensitive to gluten, and for me, the wings, crinkle fries and side salad are a must because they don't make me feel sick. The veggies on the salad are crisp, the wings are juicy and delicious and fries have just the right amount of crispness on the edges and soft in the middle. read more

Every single time I've gone to any Zaxby's, (maybe 5 times in as many years) it never fails to amaze me just how horrible it is! And the worst part? I've never actually eaten ANYTHING from then because THEY'RE MACHINES ARE ALWAYS DOWN! I grew up in a small town and our chicken options were limited: Churches, KFC and Popeyes. So you could imagine my shock when I discovered that are more options available for fast-food chicken. Zaxby's has become my go-to when I'm hungry for great chicken strips and fries. The fat crinkle kind of fries too. The kind that fill you up before you even make it through half of your meal. I used to go to Zaxbys during high school all the time. It's definitely in my top five fast food fried chicken joints. I especially love the kickin chicken sandwich. It's so messy but delicious. I guess the quality has gone down a bit over the years. We ordered a 6 piece tender meal to split since we were super hungry. The tenders we ordered were small and the bread wasn't properly toasted but it still did the job. Zaxbys isn't a place we go often but if it's on the way home, we'll stop by. It is a fast food chicken place so you can't expect too much. We went through the drive way and it was quick and the cashier was nice. However, this is a gem that I personally believe was placed in the wrong area of Dallas. It's definitely a mini-trek for true Dallasites who are more comfortable staying in their area and opting for Wendy's or McD's, but this is worth it in every way. Delicious chicken. "Special" sauce. Crinkle-cut fries. It's the perfect place to drive-thru (when the road ISN'T covered in ice) and lose some of your dignity. Great iced tea!! This was my first Zaxby's experience thanks to my birthday coupon I received via mail. Move aside Cane's...the chicken here is just as tender but oh so much more flavorful!! I had a hard time choosing what to order so I asked the friendly young gals behind the register. They both recommended this sandwhiches which were way bigger than "bite sized". The bread was similar to a potato bread and almost melted in my mouth. It was slightly toasted and held up the entire drive home. That Zaxby's sauce is tastebud awakening, has a little kick, and a little goes a looong way. No need to over sauce with their chicken because it's packed with more flavor than expected. I had to wait awhile after ordering although there was hardly anyone in the resturant. It wasn't as if people were slacking off, so I assume it just the norm cooking time. This place is hard to classify. Is it a slightly-improved fastfood place? Is it a low-end sit-down restaurant? The interior is better than fast food but you are eating off plastic plates with plastic flatware, a la Grandy's. Wife and I did enjoy the two-top minibooths. The chicken strips were tastey. The fries were decent but uninspired. The wings may or may not satisfy your cravings. They are different in a way that I have not figured out. They seemed like they were were "looser", or "sloppier" or something. I think it is the non-native prep or sauce, as the franchise is out of Georgia. Our bill for two people was $16.41. Recently opened, the place has a really nice atmosphere. A bit on the "expensive" side for its immediate competitors (McDonald's and Sonic are right next to it.) I had the Grilled Chicken Club meal at $5.69 + a drink at $1.49 + Zaxby's Sauce at $0.25 and Insane Sauce for another quarter. In all, I spent nearly 8 dollars on a sandwich, fries, and a coke.The sandwich was fantastic. I also tried my wife's chicken fingers. they were juicy and moist. Really great value- all their entrees and sandwiches are 4.99 with a drink and fries. I can feed my family of three here with an appetizer for $18. It was my first time here so I winged (heehhe) it by ordering randomly from the menu. I ordered the combo that included chicken wings + chicken tenders. OMG! It was delicious. Yah, I know it is fast food but still just as good as Buffalo Wild Wings or Wingstop or Pluckers! Chicken wings flavor I chose was sweet/spicy. Marinade was just right, wasn't too overly heavy. Chicken tender was not heavily dipped in battered. It was the right consistency not thick like Whataburger or Sonics. Plus it was seasoned, u could taste in the meat. Zaxby's is my hometown fav from back in Athens, GA. Every visit is just as memorable as the last. If you're seeking a chicken fix (wing or strip) then look nowhere else. Canes is several levels underneath Zaxby's without any thought. The tenders are crispier. The breading (batter) is fresher and tastier. Zaxby's also features a full menu unlike Canes. Oh yeah! The sweet tea is king at Zaxby's!! Move aside Canes...the pretender. Zaxby's is going to take Texas by storm. Back in Georgia, Zaxby's is more prevalent buy also the top choice among chicken lovers. The Game Day meal that began for The University of Georgia fans is now a Saturday meal for more and more states and colleges every year. For those that were not aware, Guthrie's was the founding Southern chicken strip joint in the quick service realm. When they sold their sauce and chicken recipe to Zaxby's, the torch was passed on. I stopped into this place because I am a sucker for a new place. I went in and it was a little chaotic. They only had one person doing orders and a group of guys came in and were all over the place. It became my turn to order, so I asked the guy "what are famous for", he talked about their Kickin' Chicken sandwich and suggested Boneless Wing meal - so I got those. "Meh. I've experienced better." This is just the perfect explanation for this place, so I don't see how I can't give it two stars. Almost everything Zaxby's is, Raising Canes is just better. My roommate had been going to this place quite a bit recently because we currently live down the street and he said it was good, so I figured I would tag along with him during our lunch break. The interior design was kind of dark. There should be a picture of it floating around somewhere on this Yelp page. When driving by, I actually thought the place was closed, but nope just dark. Although the seating area was a bit cluttered (we had just enough room to put two trays on the table of our booth) they tables were pretty clean and maintained. The atmosphere that the place gave off reeked of claustrophobia and depression. The menu is a little bit more extensive than Raising Cane's menu though, including chicken salads and sandwiches. I went for the chicken finger meal, which includes no drink, but that's okay because I hate buying drinks at fast food places. The area where the fountain drinks are kind of smelled. I didn't know what it was though, maybe it was just today. My meal consisted of chicken fingers, crinkle fries, Zaxby's Sauce, coleslaw, and toast. Compared to Cane's, the chicken fingers were smaller but they give more in number. The chicken isn't fried as well as it is at Cane's chicken. The breading basically wasn't even there. When I eat fast food I want to taste that junk and feel it clogging my veins. I was disappointed. The fries were dry and were warm at best. The Zaxby's Sauce was a joke compared to the Cane's Sauce. It tasted like they were just trying to hard. It also comes in one of those plastic factory sealed containers. Definitely not fresh made in the store. Their coleslaw was decent but I felt it was a bit too sweet. Their toast was toasted pretty well, but not as hot as I would have liked. There really isn't a good reason for me to come back to Zaxby's except for proximity's sake, and I'm sure a lot of you people have better restaurants to go to out of convenience. We went to Zaxby's on Saturday with the in-law. Maybe my expectations were too high because Zaxby's fell way short. Like another reviewer said they are a cross between a Chik-fil-a and Cane's chicken and maybe Wingstop. If you like any of the above places then do yourself a favor and don't bother going to Zaxbys. Yes, indeed it was. Here in DFW. So I feasted on an indulgent meal of Nibblerz and enjoyed every bite of crunchy chicken, buttered bread and tangy sauce. Did I fathom all the carbs, protein and fat I was ingesting? No, I was lost in pure bliss. Afterwards, I took a moment to realize what I had done. On my next trip, I told myself, I shall harken back to my beloved Grilled Chicken Salad, which is just as tasty, but not as unhealthy. My friend from Kentucky has been pleading me to go here for more than a year now and I finally went. It's an okay place when it comes to fast food, when it's fast. It took about 10 minutes to order my food. Maybe because I ordered their wings and chicken fingers so it might have been faster if not for the wings. If that was the case, I would bump up my rating. Speaking about the food, the wings and chicken fingers are good. The wings rival WingStop and the chicken fingers is almost blend of Chic-fil-a and Raising Canes. Their special sauce tastes like thousands islands (I think most restaurants special sauces these days are based on thousands island dressing). To say the least, it was great. Ok where do we start? The place is decent. However the food and service was not so great. When we arrived half of the dining room was closed off due to cleaning which is understandable due to it being two hours to closing. However on the side that was open ever table was dirty. I went and asked the guy at the counter for a rag to wipe one of the tables down. Instead of him going to wipe the tables down as he should have because he's the employee he actually handed me the rag for me to wipe the table. So after I wiped the table down we waited on our food. I ordered a six finger plate with fries and coleslaw. Upon getting my plate the fries were cold as well as the toast. The tenders were the only thing that was warm. The coleslaw was also very dry. There Zax sauce is also not all that great. The tenders were well marinated but kinda salty. However the tenders were the only decent tasting thing on the plate. The seating is also very tight. Not a place for large groups. Over all they got a two star because the bathrooms were clean. But I probably will not be returning. read more

When I moved to Dallas, I looked up Zaxby's and was so happy to find one. This place isn't close to my place, but it's worth the drive. We usually order boneless wings and chicken finger sandwich meal with fries. All food is very tasty, but I'm not a big fan of their sauce. Zax sauce isn't good, so I always ask for honey mustard which is slightly better than Zax sauce. Service isn't great, but the food is so good that we keep coming back here. read more

Frankly, the salt was so prominent I couldn't really taste the chicken. I also noticed that although small soft drink was priced at $1.69 on the menu board, they charged $1.79. Now 10 cents is nothing to fight about, but if I was 10 cents short, they wouldn't sell it to me. Multiply ten cents over hundreds of customers per day and you start adding up a chunk of change.
