The best place in town for hot chicken. The service is fast and convenient. They have an organized process and environment with little to no wait time. The Sando chicken sandwich is the BEST!
Came here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time! I got the Sando mild/medium heat and it wasn't too spicy. The flavors were FIRE and everything came out hot. This location only has a few tables for seating, so be mindful of that. I would definitely come back and try the chicken and waffles.
I always appreciate the consistent quality and taste at Ricky's!! My go to lately has been the mild tenders, adding a piece of toast and extra comeback sauce.
Seasonings on the chicken was good. Chicken and fries are crispy. I wish the ranch tasted a bit better. Very small and limited seating, but spacious parking.

It doesn't mean their sauce isnt good, i love the sauce too. I only pick the medium spicy as high recommend for first try. The only thing i dont like is the opening time they open from 11-2pm then 4-7pm The interior is straightforward with a focus on the open kitchen where you can see the staff preparing fresh chicken, contributing to a sense of authenticity.
FOOD Bird's Nest (medium) - my spice tolerance isn't too good so I usually get the medium. I love how in the bird's nest the sauces are incorporated well the chicken and the coleslaw. It is evenly balanced with the flavors and spice. Legit such good crispy chicken. The fries are also flavored and crunchy! VIBES Place is pretty small. Lots of people grab and go. They have some limited seats with a couple of tables and some seating against the window. SERVICE Service always super quick! They are very efficient with the system that they used to get chicken out to customers fast
I give this place a 30/30!! This is the best hot chicken place in the DFW area that I have had. Both locations are great and you can't beat the price. Yes the lines get long depending on the day and time but overall it's worth it. The chicken has a nice sweetness to it and the "comeback sauce" is phenomenal. The portion size is a lot and very filling.

The workers are nice and get your food out quick, I think by the time I had filled my drink my food was ready. I commend the attention to detail when packaging the food as they cut holes in your box to make sure the chicken and fries stay crispy. I think this was maybe an off night for them and it probably didn't help that I came in 30 minutes before closing.

I will tell you, the hype did not disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Sando - Medium heat. This place knows how to bring in the heat with their spice levels. I have moderate spice tolerance and thought medium was a good level of spice. If you are feeling adventurous, there are several other higher spice levels. Not only was there good spice, but the taste was very flavorful and the chicken was moist. Fries were also seasoned nicely. Don't forget to order some extra come back sauce to dip! SERVICE I was impressed by the efficiency of the staff. We got all of our meals within just 5 minutes of ordering. The food came out hot and freshly made ENVIRONMENT The space has a few tables and it can get crowded when busy. However, you can easily get a table if you wait a little.

Yummy! Fresh and hot chicken and also quickly. Great flavors and definitely packs in a kick. Sauces should've been cheaper that's it. Very little seating but the vibes are more causal not sit down.

The servers was kind enough to let me try the flavors before committing since it was my first time and boy and i freakin glad they did because i was about to burn the taste buds out of my mouth! So instead of ordering Hot like a goof, i ordered medium and that was still super hot! The sauces they had were delicious, ranch and honey mustard.the food came out hotter than fish grease so i had to let that thang cool off for bout 10 minutes before tearing it up. The chicken was so good ! Crunchy and savory and hot while the perfectly crunchy fries cooled off in the ranch. Man, i will definitely be back here. I also ordered banana pudding and mac n cheese was shockingly delicious as well ! It was very busy and cramped with little space to sit down and eat so plan on taking it to the car if you don't want to sit in the window. read more

I had been meaning to try Ricky's hot chicken for a while and finally got the chance! Let me tell you, in my personal option this place is rhe best hot chicken spot in DFW. Simple menu and super quick in getting your food. What I loved is that there is barely a wait, even with a line. My wait to receive my order was under 5 minutes and that's with a line. The chicken was HOT(temp wise) like it was fresh out of the frier with a nice crunch. They have a sauce which reminds me a little of canes sauce. Not the biggest of places but it's appeared very clean I liked this place so much I went from never having it, to going twice in one week. The second visit I was able to get theirs birds nest instead of just the tenders and I loved that too! Anyways definitely give Ricky's a try, it's worth it! read more
Ricky's is the best hot chicken sandwich spot in the DFW area (arguably better than Dave's Hot Chicken). From their quick service to delicious food I will always recommend this spot to anyone visiting Dallas. Their coleslaw is one of the few that I like and goes great to balance the kick from the chicken. The birds nest is a great, shareable option and is drenched in their signature sauce. Okay, this review is long overdue. Went to Ricky's for the first time after being hyped for so long. True to self, I thought it's just gonna be an overhyped spot, but after experiencing Ricky's first hand, I gotta say the hype is real. Let's get some of the complaints out of the way, starting with their business hours. They're open for a bit during lunch time and then again for dinner. When I say a bit, it's literally only a few hours, so if you want to get your chicken dinner, you better get there fast (by 7 pm). Speaking of hours, they do run out of certain things, come early, so you can get what you want. Last is their location, specifically the Richardson one. There's practically no seating, so just be prepared to eat in your car or take it to go. They will put your food in a to go container anyway. So with all those complaints, is it worth it? In my opinion, it's a resounding hell yes!! I visited Ricky's 3-4 times in a week; something I don't do very often. I wanted to make sure that it's not just a fluke before writing a review. I tried both the bird's nest and the quarter bird. Both were amazing!! The tenders are so juicy and flavorful even without the sauce. The combination of slaw and fries and sauce made it the perfect meal. As for the quarter bird, the bone-in pieces are even better. Ricky's doesn't just try to hide behind its spiciness like most hot chicken establishments do; they also seasoned their chicken so well that they can stand on their own!! Honestly, there's not much else I can say when it comes to good fried chicken, and Ricky's definitely has one of the best hot chicken. Speaking of spicy, fair warning that their hot chicken is HOT, so please start off with medium even if you're an avid hot chicken fan. My friend, who has a very high spice tolerance, ordered half hot and half extra hot or something, and he was bawling all the way (had to stop mid way and continue his meal because the spice kicked his ass). Luckily he didn't throw up, especially not in the sink. Ricky's staff prob has seen their fair share of people soiling the sink that they put up the sign (pictured) in the bathroom. Two other aspects I love about Ricky's are their prompt service and value. You order at the counter and wait till they call your name. You can have your meal there if there's space, but the tables were full every time I went there. Your meal also comes with fries and drinks, so there's no need to order separate, which makes it a perfect spot for me to frequent lol All in all, I can't say enough good things about Ricky's despite the minor complaints. I do hope they stay humble and continue to maintain their quality. And for us, dear patrons, the least we can do is to NOT throw up in the sink please! read more

This place always serves hot fresh food! & I do mean Hot Chicken! Not just spicy, but freshly made to order... They have a greet variety of items, which makes ordering easy. My kiddo enjoys their tenders, wife loves their legs & thigh, and I am a big fan of their Bird's Nest! My girls can only handle mild & I'm barely able to enjoy medium! I tried hot once, and it was just too much spice to enjoy comfortably. At least for me, So do yourself a favor and make sure you know what spice level you're into before ordering it. read more
Whenever I'm looking for a chicken fix, this is where I go; hands down the best hot chicken in town! The service here is always great. Despite the long lines, they get you in and out quick. I've tried almost everything on the menu, but my go-to are the wings... it's just so good! It's something about the seasoning that gets you hooked. BEWARE: their spicy levels are serious business. If you're looking for Nashville HOT, this is the place to get it! Super friendly staff, simple menus, quick process, AMAZING FOOD!! It's a small place so don't expect to be wowed here. There is a big and clear menu with all the options and a Spice Meter as well. They have different varieties of chicken meat (tender, legs, thighs etc..), sides, and heat levels. Take your pick, order at counter, and wait till they call your name (it took about 10mins) We got the chicken n waffles which is available on weekends only- so hearty, so crispy, so juicy, and oh boy did it hit the spot (heat level HOT) And we got an order of the tender (XHot - ghost scorpion heat ) the server gave us a fair warning ‼ when we got this one! For the sides we got the Fireballs (cheese curds), Shake Fries (which were crunchy, with the perfect spice flavors) and the comeback sauce! Ricky's Hot Chicken is one of those places I was super excited to try since seeing it on one of Yelp's top lists. Came in on a Monday for lunch and it was absolutely packed. The staff was super friendly and patient, explaining how everything worked and the popular parts of the menu. What we got: Quarter leg dark set: Fried chicken was good, but it was a little bit on the dryer side. Fries were crinkle cut, freshly fried, crispy and perfectly seasoned Chicken Sandwich spicy: This was also bursting with flavor and the slaw complemented the saucey-ness nicely You can tell that they turn over a lot of chicken because there is a lot that is constantly being fried and put onto the shelf to get orders out quickly. LOVED THE FOOD HERE. My mouth was burning by the end of it (medium heat level), but it was the best kind of pain. The heat levels here are no joke, though, so I would be very cautious when deciding what to get. I almost stopped halfway through because it was just too much. My friend got the birds nest, and the heat was worse for her because the spice was spread onto the fries as well. Outside of spice, the chicken was well cooked and juicy. They are not stingy with their meat either. There were a lot of workers when I came, so the service was super quick as well. It's probably best to find somewhere else to sit though, since they barely have inside seating. Highly recommend! read more

It was time for my annual Ricky's hot chicken trip in Richardson. A lot of my friends told me to get their wings instead so I got their wing combo which comes with 3 whole wings, bread, pickles, fries, and a drink for only $11. That is insane value. I remember hearing that their wings and tenders were much spicier compared to the sando and birds nest. I got medium tenders last time and DIED.. yes my spice tolerance sucks. So I got the mild this time just to be safe. The wings doesn't come with a side of comeback sauce so I bought one for a tiny charge. They were out of wings when I ordered and told me it would be a 15 minute wait but I was ok with that because that meant I would get fresh wings. The inside dining area is small and always packed so I went down the highway to an outdoor eating area. The wings were good, the skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. The only thing was that there was no spice from the mild spice at all. I believe mild is supposed to be jalapeño spicy but there wasn't a hint of spice at all. The fries were more spicy than the wings. It was also a cool outside so by the time I got to the last wing, it was not warm anymore. Although the spice was disappointing, the wings themselves were still really good and you can't beat the value. This is still my favorite place for hot chicken in Dallas read more

** KNOW BEFORE YOU GO ** This is a tiny spot! The inside dining area is very small, with just enough space to sit and wait for your order. When you step inside the door, there are usually two lines. One line is for ordering and the second line is for picking up your order. When you step in the doorway you have to ask people which line is for ordering. This location is definitely set up for To-Go orders. Oh my, yes, it's worth it, lol. With nearly 700 Yelp reviews about Ricky's Hot Chicken, there isn't much more to add about how delicious it is. We ordered a few sandwiches, a couple of nests, and the bomb to explore the range of heat. It's difficult to give advice on which heat to pick because everyone has a different opinion about what is considered spicy or hot. We live 15 minutes away and when we got home our food was still hot and fresh. I didn't see a recent Yelp review that mentioned their inside dining situation. I will take this opportunity to update you. There is a sign at their front door that says, "LINE STARTS HERE" It's there for a reason. There are approximately 3 small tables (4 chairs per table), and approximately 4 bar chairs along the window -- that's it!! It's very uncomfortable to sit and eat when there is a line of people waiting for their order in that same area. We tried, but there were a lot of butts along our table side. And if you are wondering .. there is no seating outside. The door constantly stays open, plus the triple-digit Texas heat inside a fry house, well you're ready to get your food and leave. This is not a dine-in type restaurant BUT Ricky's Hot Chicken is worth trying! We will certainly be back and better prepared. read more

I looooove eating at what ppl have described, an "atomic" level. I regularly cook with Carolina reapers, habaneros, scotch bonnet, etc.... And the atomic is the FIRST spicy chicken that truly is....atomic. even for someone like me who is NEVER .... EVER met with a spice level that matches my expectations. There's a Nashville hot chicken place in Carrollton and I got their spiciest chicken...and when I say, I could t even tell that there was a modicum of spice anywhere to be seen.....it was so disappointing. The staff here were like...wait...are you SURE you want the atomic? A few times and I was like...yes please. Was unable to eat the whole order? Yes! Was it one of the first times in YEARS that my eyes and nose ran? Yes! Which is lovely! Now this chicken is also...wait for it....actually crispy!!! Another thing that you simply can't find done right or well! I was taking mine home to eat so I made sure to try a bite of things before I started driving. And the crispiness maintained even after I got home. The fries were delicious! And the Mac n cheese was so good! This place loves up to the hype! Next time I'll.probably get two steps down just so I can actually try a different flavor profile! Well done! read more

It was pretty busy when I went, my first time, the dude who took my order was very helpful. My order was made very fast. I took it to go. As for the food: I got the Hot tenders, and before I went I was told they were hella spicy, I usually can take spice. It was soooo spicy and amazing!! Their special sauce tasted similar to Cane's sauce but sweeter it was def an 11/10. The place looked pretty cute inside, good atmosphere. Will def go back. read more

I would say Hattie B's is better personally, more menu options but this is good for what it is.
What type of dipping sauces do they have?
Their side sauce taste similar to Raising Canes sauce, basically like a spiced up thousands island dressing.
Why don't they answer their phone? Calling on their business hours that they have listed on their door.
They are extremely busy. They do not take phone orders. They have a contact form on their website if you need to reach them for something else.
