Honestly, I felt like I was transported somewhere else. The food here was SPECTACULAR. I felt right at home, it was quiet, clean, organized, and it did feel like a hole in the wall at first. Nevertheless, the food speaks for itself, the tender and juicy beef kabob and the fried fish and rice were so perfectly done, that I felt like I've been missing out on the past 20 years. Never Again -- Unexpected Table Fee Scam I visited this place with my family, and the experience was extremely unprofessional. They secretly added a table charge without informing us at any point. I only came to support them, but I will never return after this. There was no notice, no sign, and no explanation that we would be charged an extra $17.58 just to sit at a table that was no different from any regular one. For seven people, we were simply seated--nothing special, yet they added a hidden fee. The cashier, Hassna, also failed to mention anything about this charge. The new restaurant owner at the previous location told us, otherwise, we'd never known. it was very nice for him to let us know that. Anyway, the new location is a lot bigger and the set up is very nice. They have buffet and regular menu. It's a Persian(Iranian)food and i love love love Persian food! They're so tasty and healthy. I'm into unsweetened ice tea now and their ice tea is so aromatic, strong and good. There are so many items for everyone whether you're vegetarian or non vegetarian. The cashier/server, I've known her from the previous location and she's very kind and attentive. This location is big enough to hold big party of people and it's very light inside and airy. The beef kebabs here are very good--tender and well seasoned. If that's what you're looking for, come here. But for other things I have some criticism. I tried the buffet on a weekday afternoon. The restaurant was busy but there only seemed to be three people working. This meant they were a bit slow with the register, clearing plates, and refilling drinks. The last one bothers me the most because I feel you should be able to get your own drinks at a buffet and the only reason not to have this is to elicit a tip. But if you really want to elicit tips, you need more staff. The restaurant was clean, the food dishes were kept fresh and at proper temperature. But the restaurant itself was too warm to be comfortable in the Texas summer. The seating was adequate but half of the restaurant was roped off with reserved tables that never populated so you couldn't really choose to sit away from other guests or in a booth. Mediterranean cuisine is a broader category than most Americans associate so I accept my part in my disappointment but let me describe what they do and don't have at this buffet. They do have some kebab types, fish, an excellent lamb stew, a nice quesadilla, and several hot vegetable dishes that are all pretty good. I found the butter chicken a strange visitor but I got excited for it only to find that the chicken didn't seem marinated and the sauce was especially unseasoned and bland. How weird. I certainly cannot recommend to Indian friends. There's pita bread but it isn't hot and fresh compared to most other options. The humus was fine but what good is it without a great bread. There was cantaloupe and oranges and a banana pudding. But there were no pastries, cookies, baklava, or anything of the sort. I sorely missed that there were no dolmas either. At $18 the value is questionable. If you enjoy the lamb stew and kebabs sufficiently you'll probably still like this place. But if pita and other Mediterranean staples are important to your buffet experience you may be as disappointed as I was. read more

The service is honestly very poor, it takes forever just to get a can of Sprite. At Dimassi's the service is way better, so is the food with more variety , drinks are self serve, service is better and no long lines to wait in just to get food! Ambiance is way better at Dimassi's than at Shish Kabob. Ate here 2 years ago and still the food and service haven't changed at all! Ate here just yesterday. My wife and I enjoyed our food, ate too much as usual. The butter chicken is wonderful. Strange thing...my wife and I kept seeing a man load up on the beef kabobs...i mean plate after plate filled high. A new batch would come and he was there for another "plate full." Well, you can guess where this is going. I decided to nonchalantly watch him out of the corner of my eye. Yes, he sat up straight, scoping things out (looking out for the waitress of course), then he would grap a few napkins and slowly ease the food into his backpack down by his feet. Not once, not twice...at least 4 times! Towards the end of my wife and I's meal, I noticed him pick up his backpack and leave. You pay at the end of your meal at this place. So, we concluded that he was a dasher...actually, a thief and a dasher. However, few minutes later he came back in....w/o the backpack. Evidence stashed safely in vehicle likely. I paid and told the lady. She seemed appreciative. Not sure what she could do at this point. Not sure what actually did...we were gone of course. I wasnt inclined to involve myself further. Some people despise a liar...ok, agree, but having grown up in a retail business (2 actually, mother's and father's), i despise a thief more than anything. read more

I liked grabbing some of the naan, rice, protein, and slathering it with a saucy entree. For dessert, I grabbed a few slices of oranges, and the white pudding. You can taste the authenticity and the fact that it's family owned in every dish that they serve. Let's be clear, this place isn't upscale, quiet or spacious. What it is, is a hole in the wall buffet that's managed to maximize both space and prices to get customers in the door and happy with what they paid for. To me, it's the epitome of college food that you can still bring your parents to. I've seen the same people running this place over the years, and they've all been friendly and welcoming. Even as they've enjoyed the slightly busier crowd, they'll still check on each table every so often and make sure you're as satisfied as possible. It's quality, it's reliable and it's all you could ask for. The food here is similarly consistent, with a regular menu that's kept full all day by their staff. I'm particularly a fan of their butter chicken, as it's not too rich or fatty, and their kabobs as they've always been tender and juicy. There's a solid selection of sides, and about 4-5 proteins so trying everything they have to offer shouldn't be hard, and having done so over the years, I'd definitely say it's worth it to see what you're inclined to. It's a buffet after all. If you're like me the first time I came here, and shocked to find a halal restaurant right next to Noodle Wave (which always seems to be busy), then look no further for somewhere to sit down and enjoy dinner. I've been coming here for years and today I found a staple in my eggplant curry from the buffet. I always save food for my 7yr old when he comes home after school and absolutely loves the food here and his favorite side is the eggplant curry. This place has my heart! I grew up RIGHT across the street from here. Shishkabob's has been around this long for a reason: it's really THAT great. I love love love seeing the diversity of people that come to eat here - you know an ethnic restaurant is a good one when you see everyone coming! The buffet is PHENOMENAL. It's consistently around $10 for an all you can eat buffet. They will always have chicken, beef, and lamb - many times more than one dish of each. If you're vegetarian - hummus, several types of salad and rice, vegetable dishes, baba ganoush, and falafel. They will also have at least 2 different desserts and plenty of fruit. They also have to go buffet options. Ordering off the menu will also leave you equally satisfied. Now the one dish for me that merits a separate paragraph because of just how good it is, the kobideh kabobs (chargrilled, ground beef kabob). Yes, it might look awkward but it is quite literally one of the BEST kabobs I've eaten in my life. We have catered this in for family gatherings and it NEVER disappoints. Heck, I brought this in for my dad's 60th! It is perfectly soft, chewy, and juicy. Perfectly simple yet packs this chargrilled punch. I'm not a big meat fan so I wasn't in love with the two beef options or fish, but I liked the chicken kabob a lot! This is one of the nastiest and dirtiest middle eastern restaurant in the metroplex. Their food is low quality and prepared in a dirty kitchen. I found a big long hair in my food, and when I complained to the woman who ran the place, she couldn't care less and was very rude to me. The staff specially the woman who runs the place at night shift are usually rude and unprofessional. I asked for sugar cubes and she shouted in an atty voice that they didn't have sugar cubes. While in the men's room I noticed one of the kitchen staff came out of bathroom and didn't wash his hands and went right back into the kitchen. The nasty and rude attitude combined w dirty kitchen and low quality food would make it NOT deserve even one star. I definitely would avoid this place. read more
