I've stopped by before just for hookah, but this time my friend and I decided to try the food too - and I'm so glad we did! Located in West Village, the place has a super chill, relaxing vibe. We started with a peach mango hookah, and then asked our waiter for his food recommendations. He mentioned the chicken skewers were the #1 favorite, so I went with those, while my friend got the apricot wings with the sauce on the side. The food came out surprisingly fast--about 10 to 15 minutes! The chicken was incredible: tender, flavorful, topped with a delicious green sauce, and served with a spicy tzatziki over a bed of yellow rice and squash. Easily a 10/10--our waiter did not steer me wrong. My friend's wings were also cooked to perfection, and the apricot sauce was great. Service was wonderful throughout the night. Our waiter consistently checked in on us, kept our water filled, and was genuine and kind (I wish I caught his name!). Why 4 stars instead of 5: An 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. While the service tonight absolutely deserved every bit of it (and more!), I prefer having full control over determining the tip based on my experience. read more

THIS IS A SOLID 3.5 STAR RESTAURANT. Which means it's a good restaurant. I just can't round up to a 4, because I didn't think it was a GREAT restaurant for ME. Which is different than how other Mediterranean restaurants tend to do it. Which is fine, just not my preference. Here's what we got: Appetizers: - meza plate: solid appetizer with plenty of things. I particularly loved the Hummus. My wife and our friends really liked the muhammara. - Roasted cauliflower: pretty good. Liked the sauce that it came with. Entrees: - Chicken Shish Kebab($25): the server recommended this dish as their top seller. I don't believe him. This chicken was dry and nothing to ring home about. It was honestly something that I felt I could have at a local Turkish restaurant for $14. Would not recommended. - Kofta Kebab($29): pretty good. We liked this. Kebab was cooked well. - Apricot lamb couscous($37): A traditional dish that we all enjoyed. Slight sweet taste to it, but not overwhelming at all. Dessert: - Baklava Bowl($18): delicious. We had just gotten in from a flight and needed something to eat that was healthier than fast food, and this place was right by our hotel. We were so glad we found it because the food was delicious! My husband and I placed a to-go order, and from the moment we arrived, the service was amazing. The door was opened for us, we were offered glasses of water, and we were given a seat while we waited for our food. We were also checked on multiple times and asked if we needed anything else. Baboush offers authentic Mediterranean food in the heart of uptown Dallas. Parking can be limited but they have some street parking and there is a parking garage nearby as well. The food was delicious they offer a full menu from appetizers, small plates, and main entrees. Some of the highlights were the hummus, flafael, and the lamb racks. They have some outdoor seating which we opted to do but they have a beautiful dining room area for you to enjoy as well. This is a great spot to get some delicious Mediterranean restaurant. Baboush has been on my want to try list for quite a while and I was glad to finally try it. Inside, the atmosphere is small and cozy with live music when we went. We started off with drinks and the chef's hummus. The hummus was fantastic and I would recommend it. For drinks, we got the blackberry seduction and lebanese nights. I felt that the blackberry seduction was pretty good but the other one tasted pretty much like juice rather than well mixed cocktail. We then got the lamb rack and kofta kebabs. Both were well made and flavorful but I felt that there was not enough food/it wasn't good enough for the price you pay. I did throughly enjoy the rice that came with the kebabs. Overall, Baboush was a fun place that I am glad I tried but I didn't feel that the value was good enough for me to want to come back. read more

Grabbed lunch here today. I cannot wait to go back for another meal. Not only was the service top notch, Mahmuod gave us A+ attention, the meal was great. The chef's Hummus was by far the best I have ever had. Crazy fresh ingredients and the portion was such a deal. We ordered the "beef cigars" and split an order of the beef shawarma dish. I highly recommend the beef shawarma. The beef was tender and perfectly medium rare. so flavorful. Drinks were never empty. Let's talk dessert. The baklava was simply amazing. We skipped the ice cream version and just went with the basic version. I will order an extra to take home the next time I visit. First off, they charge an outrageous 20% "gravity" fee on top of the standard table charges, which feels like a scam. The hookah was absolutely terrible--nothing like what I expected. It's hard to get lamb right, but this lamb was great! Service was attentive and kind and the ambiance is very cute; they offer hookah that I did not get to partake in. Inside is set up beautifully and you can tell a lot of effort was put into the detail. I have been to Morocco. This felt and tasted like the restaurants back in Marrakech. The only reason I did not give it a 5/5 was because some dishes will come garnished with nuts that don't usually have nuts, which made it so that I couldn't have it. I probably should have mentioned my allergy, but putting that menu items have nuts - even if it means it will just be garnished on top, goes a long way. I was able to remove the pine nuts on the lamb which made me happy, meaning they can accommodate food allergies. The menu isn't very extensive, as they become more popular I hope they can add to it. The food is prepared very well. Can't wait to come back and try the preserved lemon chicken. read more

Highly recommend trying their sangria and blackberry seduction for drinks. For apps I ordered falafel and goat cheese cigar and for main course I order chicken kebab with Tabbouleh salad. We visited Baboush Restaurant yesterday and had a mixed experience. When we arrived, the manager was quite rude and immediately said they did not have a table available. We informed him that we had a reservation at 9:00 PM, but his response was again rude and he told us to wait. We waited outside for about 10 minutes. After we went back inside, several other guests arrived after us, but the manager ignored us and seated those guests before us, even though we had a reservation. This was very disappointing and made us feel unwelcome. once we were seated, The food was amazing, and our server was very polite and attentive, which we really appreciated. Overall, the food and service at the table were excellent, but the manager's behavior was unprofessional and negatively affected my first impression. I hope the management addresses this. read more

Wow, really impressed by the food here. I was staying in Uptown for work and ended up dining here twice in one week. My first visit was a late afternoon lunch with my pup. We dined outside. Service was attentive, even bringing a water dish for my dog. My server also helped me decide on my entree, the Chicken kabob plate and I was not disappointed. He also suggested the house Cabernet to pair with it instead of any of the others as it was a better pairing for the food. I was surprised how great the house wine was. My second visit was with my boyfriend and the dog again. Service and food quality were consistent with my first visit. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One of the few (if not only) Mediterranean spots in West Village and well worth the price. Going in I knew the portions would be large, so my partner and I split a small and large dish. For the small dish, we tried the goat cheese cigars - there was a total of 2 (we each had 1). The "cigars" were quite thick, soft and flaky on the outside, and had warm, flavorful cheese. A side of yogurt came with this dish for dipping. I'm not sure what other ingredients go into it but it was more citrusy and even a bit more spicy than expected for me - but it was great and complemented the cheese. For the large dish we got the chicken Schwarma bowl. They were generous with the meat, sauces, and other ingredients. It comes with pita, so I just dipped the pita into the bowl to grab and eat the ingredients along with the bread. Again very flavorful and something you can/should split with another person. For dessert, I tried the kinafa. I highly recommend trying it - it's one of my favorite Arab desserts. It's sweet but not overly so and is a mix of cheese on the inside and crunch on the outside. My fingers did get sticky though. Furthermore, the waiters were quite attentive and often checked on us to see how we were doing. My bf has a nut allergy so our waiter was able to accommodate us when possible (unable to do so for kinafa, but left out nuts for the cigar and shwarma bowl. The inside looked very ambient and well lit, but my partner and I chose to sit outside to enjoy the weather, which I highly recommend doing if possible. read more
