The person working at the counter was friendly and didn't mind us taking our time. We finally decided to share a AJ's Sammy which comes on a Brioche Bun, with Fried Chicken, Coleslaw, Pickles and AJ's Sauce. I did request no heat on the Chicken. It also came with a side of Fries. The Chicken Sandwich was good. The Chicken inside the sandwich was big. We asked for a knife to cut the sandwich but they offered to cut it in half for us which was appreciated. The Chicken was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The Coleslaw and Pickles added texture while AJ's Sauce added some flavor. The Fries were good. They had a crispy coating on the exterior and a soft interior with a slight seasoning. There was a side of AJ's Sauce for dipping which was really good with the fries. While finishing up our meal we noticed that the lunch rush had begun as several people came in to the restaurant to order and eat. Overall it was a good lunchtime meal. I'm a big fan of spicy chicken sandwiches, so I've tried a bunch of spots around DFW to find my favorites -- and this place is definitely in my top 3! The sandwich itself was buttery with a perfect level of spice (I got level 4). It was a little too spicy for my boyfriend, but we both still really enjoyed our sandwiches. I had the Daddy's Joke Sammie -- it was absolutely delicious. The Hot Cheeto mozzarella sticks were surprisingly good, even without the marinara sauce -- but they were tasty with it too! The food was a chicken sandwich, lil burger and an Oreo shake. The chicken burger was tasty. The regular beef burger was mid. The problem was with the shake; it was very watery but decided I wouldn't complain and ingest it anyway . At the end of it I took a big chug of it to get to the Oreos at the bottom, I felt a hard object in my mouth. I spit it out and it was a pretty big chunk of what appeared to be a ceramic shard I took the piece to the guy at counter and explained where it came from. He apologized but didn't seem too concerned about the issue. They pretty much brushed it off after the insincere apology. They did not offer a refund or a remake or discount for next visit. That could've gone very badly being that I was sharing my shake with my toddler. The environment isn't super welcoming and the dishes look better than they tasted. I also remember the water tasting a bit funky when I was there. Both sandwiches were over sauced, but not in a way that enhanced the flavor profile. The chicken wasn't crispy. I ordered the hot Cheeto mozzarella sticks and there was none of the hot Cheeto flavour at all, just the color. The cheese pull was fine, but nothing tasted good. I personally would rank Dave's hot chicken over this place, but the one thing that is nice about this location is that their meats are halal. AJ Chicken - Overhyped & Underwhelming (But Staff Was Sweet) I really wanted to love this place. I came across AJ Chicken in Richardson on TikTok -- the promo looked amazing. Melting hot cheeto mozzarella sticks, Nashville-style chicken, and southern vibes? I was excited. As someone who loves Southern food, I thought I was in for a treat. When we got there, the staff was really kind. They weren't from the South like I expected (more likely Middle Eastern), but they were super respectful and welcoming. After we ordered, they even gave us free soft-serve ice cream. My boyfriend liked it, but personally, I didn't -- it just didn't taste good to me. Then the mix-up happened: they forgot my chicken sandwich. I was standing right there when my boyfriend ordered and repeated the whole thing, but somehow it still didn't get rung up. The guy at the register apologized, offered to make it (but it would take 15 mins), and even offered a beef burger instead. I said I wanted what I originally ordered -- and to their credit, they agreed to make it, gave me a free Dubai chocolate, and said the sandwich would be on the house. Honestly, the guy in glasses was super nice, and I appreciated that. But here's where everything went downhill: the food was just not it. We both got chicken burgers, and both were burnt. The wings had a strange taste, not fresh or flavorful at all. My boyfriend's not picky, so the fact that he took one or two bites and said, "Yeah, I don't like this," says a lot. Their menu has a variety of different food items to try, from chicken sandwiches, burritos, to even tacos. Food: *I am a big person on trying spicy food. But this time, I didn't get to go as spicy as I wanted to since we were splitting food with friends. They did inform us that they use Carolina Reapers for their spice* - AJ's Sammy (7/10): I think the sandwich is good, but not the best I've had. I think it needed some more flavor. The breading was crisped well, but the flavor was just okay to me. However, I did notice the breading was easy to fall off in just one bite, so I was left with just chicken and the skin was just laying on the plate. As far as flavor, I think maybe if I added more spice it could have made a difference. - Burrito (5/10): This was probably all of our least favorite item. There was too much going on. I realized that the AJs sauce is not that good and it ruins a lot of the flavor. It's just primarily mayo mixed with something else. This sauce was drenched in the burrito and made it really soggy. - Mozzarella Sticks (8/10): Everyone loved this side. It was cooked very well with a nice crisp. This mozzarella stick was coated with hot cheetos. The only downside I noticed was that it did not taste like hot cheetos at all. But it's quite pricey, 4 mozzarella sticks for $7? - Cheat Day (6/10): We got the battered fries, which was tossed with the AJs sauce, cheese, pickles, slaw, chopped chicken strips. This was definitely a good size to share with others. Again the AJ sauce was not that great too me. Also the chicken breading was just falling off. In my opinion the breading should stick, if you are making fried chicken. Every meal comes with a free ice cream cone, which is pretty cool. I like how they thought about that to include a free ice cream. Overall, this wasn't bad. The food was pretty decent. Would I come here? Came here around 1 AM during the Grand Opening weekend. I was expecting to try the mozzarella sticks covered in Hot Cheetos, but was told they only had a limited menu. I ended up getting the AJ Sammy's meal, and even met one of the co-owners as I was eating the food. He seemed very passionate about the business and indicated he would be here everyday. When I did enter though a hour before closing time, the restaurant was half full. The cashier told me that if I liked spice, I should get a level 4. I did, and I regretted getting it because it was pretty spicy for me. I was really grateful for the free ice cream cone. Recommend you give these guys a try! read more

Came here on a Tuesday night and it was pretty empty. I got Aj's Sammy with "proceed with caution" spice level which was the third level. It was not super spicy.. like a slight enjoyable spice. It came out hot which was nice. They put like 2 tenders on the sandwich instead of one big one which made it a bit harder to eat. This placed used to be really good and last time i came they added some sort of garlic seasoning to the fries. The chicken also used to be really soft. The flavor is there, but this time the chicken was dry and rubbery. I found alot of nerve in the strips too. The fries barely had any flavor as well. It seems like they changed the recipe because last time i went was around October and i had to come back for more at the time. Now i'm not too sure if i want to give them another go especially since the food is expensive and it was subpar to say the least. I was pretty disappointed. Tired AJ's Sammy sandwich the other day. The chicken is pretty good. The buns were toasted and crisp. Their signature sauce tasted somewhat like Dave's sauce (from Dave's Hot Chicken). Tonight I made it out to Aj's hot chicken & they have great food with service to match. The inside is nice & clean with a nice chill tone. My boy got the dad joke Sammy with a slow down pappi spice level but when I tell you even that levels spicy then believe me be prepared. Wifey got burrito with PROCEED WITH CAUTION LEVEL & take that name for what it is. Go easy on it Now my daughter thought she was queen of the hill & got tacos with REHEARSE THE SAFE WORD!!! That thing is dangerous & we all paid the price but it got better for us. The staff was excellent the managers came out & asked us how everything was, when we told them it was too spicy for us they went above & remade everyone's order that it was too hot for . They didn't have to do that because we didn't ask but they wanted us to leave full. On top of everything he says they give free ice cream because they know what the heat is going to do to you & thats why they offer it. So today was the day I decided to try this establishment when I first walked in I noticed the smell and how empty it was (and for good reason) I had ordered the dad joke sand which for and my partner was waiting while the odor of the restaurant was lingering soon as we got our food went back home and we did not receive the cheese as shown in the picture in the yelp app fries were ok the chicken wasn't spicy at all as we had ordered the medium hot (at this point Daves Hot Chicken would be the better option) for the price? I went there to try their hottest flavor and let me tell you that it was hot but it was the most pleasant seasoned and the most soft and juicy chicken you can find in Richardson and that's a fact! It was a burning sensation that you can't get enough of because the chicken and the seasoning was so addicting. Incredibly friendly customer service and they put like 25+ different types of sauces in my bag free of charge with an amazing packaging that obviously showed that they cared.
