Genuinely delectable food and great service as well. Ambiance was good, felt like a spot I'd take my family for lunch. No surprise that parking is more challenging now since there are quite a few businesses, but not a lot of space to maneuver or park. In fact, I almost got in an accident coming here! The Madina Halal Grill has expanded from a small hole in the wall, to two holes. LOL! It looks like the took over the area next door and connected them with a small doorway. What is great about this is that the initial room is great for placing your order, looking at the menu, chatting with the staff, paying, and waiting around for your food to come out. The next room over is great for finding a seat, relaxing, and eating without being jostled by people coming and going. Food was pretty good. I forgot to specify the bread wrap, so my sandwich was more like panini than a shawarma. My husband was less than enthralled. He wasn't a fan of the lamb mix, but that is to be expected as he didn't grow up with it and hasn't learned to acquire a taste for it. Staff are really friendly here. Food comes out quickly and remains hot on the way home.

Prior to driving there, I call the restaurant to ask if they could accommodate me -- and they said yes. I got the chicken ramen and subbed for katsu protein, shrimp tempura, karaage and milk tea and my friend got the black garlic ramen. The karaage came out tossed in a an acidic sauce with sesame seeds -- almost like saucy wings. This caught me off guard because the menu does not indicate it would be covered in sauce -- and we didnt want it sauced. Shrimp tempura had 3 shrimps and the rest vegetables. Another surprise because the menu listed shrimp tempura as an item on its own, and then another line item for vegetable tempura. My assumption is this is a cost saving approach -- and while I have no problem with that, transparency would be good for customers. Just list out what is included in the dish so no one is surprised. The ramen was disappointing. The broth came out clear (like water -- i wouldnt dare compare it to pho because pho broth is packed with flavor). There was absolutely no flavor. It was the only ramen on the menu that I could have (again not what I was told when I called). I asked for soy sauce, chili oil and even dumped the leftover sauce from my tempura into the liquid broth and still it could not be saved. The black garlic broth was also bland. Neither of us finished the meal. Service was slow, only one girl working the entire dining room, (it was a weekend so packed). We waited for a while, they forgot my milk tea and it was impossible to flag the waitress until the very end. The only plus, they are extremely generous with the eggs.

Flavor, Freshness & Full-On Satisfaction at Abu Omar Halal - Dallas…read more Shawarma cravings? Fully. Satisfied. I've tried Abu Omar Halal in Orlando and now at two different Texas locations, including this one in Dallas--and the consistency is seriously impressive. No matter where I go, the flavor hits every single time. What We Ordered: * Arabic-Style Shawarma Wrap - Tender, juicy meat with just the right amount of seasoning. Wrapped tight and no soggy mess. * Falafel - Crispy, golden outside with a light, herby interior. Freshly made and full of flavor. * Loaded Fries with Beef Shawarma - A must-share (or not, no judgment). Crunchy fries loaded with shawarma, garlic sauce, and just enough kick. * Family Shawarma Plate with Fries - Big portions, great variety, and perfect for a hungry group. Note on Service Time: Was the service fast? Not exactly. But here's the thing--it's clearly made fresh to order, and you can taste the difference. Everything came out hot, seasoned well, and never felt rushed or reheated. Highlights: * Consistently great across multiple cities * Clean setup and friendly staff * Ideal for late-night bites, group meals, or serious shawarma lovers Bottom line: worth the wait. If you're in Dallas and looking for real-deal shawarma that delivers every time, Abu Omar Halal is it. I'll be back--and probably ordering extra garlic sauce next time.

Afrah is THE place to be for Mediterranean food - before Greenville Ave became Arab central, before there was anyone, there was Afrah. A beautiful, airy restaurant with gorgeous seating, a bustling dessert case, ice cream center and so many treats to offer under one roof. Afrah is to the Muslim community in Richardson as a glove is to a hand. It truly is a one stop shop for all your nostalgic cravings, and it would be a grave injustice on my part if I didn't stop by here and sing praise to one of the most loved Mediterranean restaurants in the DFW area. We visited here recently for an iftar buffet experience and were very very happy with the food we got. The buffet line was running smoothly, from staff working diligently to hand everyone a tray with napkins, plates and cutlery already set for you. Waiters were going around the massive dining hall clearing plates, making sure everyone had what they needed, seating patrons and asking if everything tasted good. This establishment runs like a literal well oiled machine and I am so impressed. The food was as always out of this world. Carefully prepared menu that satisfies everyone's taste buds. A good selection of classic cold appetizers like the baba ghanoush, hummus, and variety of salads. Always including something unique for a typical Middle Eastern flare. Hot lentil soup available with bowls carefully placed in the vicinity. So many different types of kebabs and freshly made hot pita bread being replaced like clockwork. The buffet had many of my favorite classics like Shawarma meat, beef kebab, chicken kebab. Lamb, chicken stew, baked chicken, everything was present in abundance. They even had salmon which I deeply appreciated as a seafood lover. My only complaint is the food wasn't hot enough which can be annoying with a buffet that is serving so many people during a busy time like Ramadan. Everything tasted absolutely phenomenal and when I returned for dessert, I was greeted with six different types of sweets from all over the world. That's the thing about this place. There's always something for everybody. The dining hall was bustling with not just Muslim patrons, but also a lot of American white patrons who equally enjoy the food here as much as we do. Inclusions of dishes like shrimp pasta, fried fish, chocolate mousse, and other fan favorites is a humble nod to non-Arab customers who love to frequent this place as much as we do. If you are looking for a quality Mediterranean experience look no further than this long-standing Mediterranean Haven. Thank you for nourishing the community.
