My fiancé introduced this place to me several months ago. We had not been in a few months so we decided to head over Sunday after church for brunch. We were greeted as usual and quickly walked to the back to a table. Typically, I order a coffee and water but on Sunday I decided I wanted a Coca-Cola instead. So I ordered a Coca-Cola and was quickly told that they had RC cola only and it was just like Coca-Cola. No, it is not! It's not even close. The waitress then seemed to have an attitude from that point forward, as if I had offended her when I said that RC Cola and Coca-Cola weren't the same. OK moving on, I ordered BLT on toast with crispy bacon. The waitress wrote it down on the ticket as BLT with bread Extra well done. The toast was hard and hard to eat. My Fiance ordered the hamburger steak breakfast combination. The hamburger steak was a frozen beef patty that had onions and mushrooms put on top of it. So no flavor whatsoever. Overall, it was just an OK visit this time. Hopefully, this is not a glimpse into the future of house café, and the downfall of their food and service. Came here on a Sunday morning with a big party, the wait was only about 15 minutes thankfully. We had to split into two tables of 8. Their policy is that we can't put the tables together unless there are at least 5 people per table, so that was a little odd. The bathrooms are not super great, pretty dirty. The staff was very kind and friendly. It was pretty warm inside, and was asked if the fans could be turned on and were told no. Prices were cheap and the food came out fast and hot! Nice and simple spot for what it is. It's sort of like a diner with your typical breakfast omelettes, pancakes, and burgers. The portions are reflective of the price and not bad in comparison to other establishments that would fit in its category. It's a seat yourself style and there wasn't a wait on a Saturday morning, but it was definitely filled with locals. I recently enjoyed a brunch here with a friend. I discovered a sweet little brunch spot that is inexpensive, clean, with very good service! The menu had a lot to choose from for one low price and plenty of other options as well. As far as cleanliness- we sat in a booth, the seats had even been freshly wiped down as the table was cleaned. I ordered corn beef hash, hash-browns, over medium eggs and biscuits and gravy. I don't know if it's just me or what, but usually when I order over medium eggs the white is completely done and the yolk is still runny. The eggs looked perfect here, but the yolk was not runny at all. They did taste fine. I just usually like my yolk with corn beef Other than that, everything was super. We went for brunch and had my 2 month old twins with us. They slept the entire time, no issues at all. We were finishing up eating around 1:15 and they started closing up and vacuuming the back room while we were still eating in the back room, closest to the opening. I understand they closed soon, but they started vacuuming within feet of our stroller. Our brother in law kindly asked if they could pause until we left so it wouldn't wake up our babies and the gentleman was extremely rude and told us no because they were closing at 2. We were paid and out of there at 1:30 regardless. The food was great, our waitress was super kind and responsive. The place seemed like it was full of local regulars. Loved that. I've been coming here over 10 years. It's in my neighborhood and convenient from work or home. Hours are 6am to 2pm (but really 1:30-ish) so don't come late. They will close the back dining area and vacuum right next to you. The menu has not changed very much in 10 years, other than prices, which is reasonable. However their food is not consistent quality. Went for breakfast yesterday and my biscuit & gravy was awful. Cream gravy watery and flavorless. Biscuit was rock hard, obviously from previous day. Their menu states "Corn bread and biscuits made daily" ... that may be true but you'll get day old until they run out. They should be ashamed the way some of their food comes out. USUALLY it is quite good and dependable, for average diner style. My favorite is House Omelet for breakfast. For lunch I usually consider the daily special. read more

I had high hopes based on Yelp reviews and when I arrived all of the "regulars" who were there. We were promptly seated and our order taken. Then the food arrived. I had ordered the #8 Breakfast Special and a short stack of pancakes. The #8 comes with two eggs scrambled with sausage and cheese, hash browns or my choice of home fried potatoes, and bread. It was just ok really, nothing I could not have made WAY better at home. The odd thing about the pancakes was that they were stuck to the plastic plate they were served on. This was my first visit and I ordered the Migas. The food was reasonably priced and solid cooking. The salsa seemed to be out of a jar and was very mild. Hash browns were crispy which is my preference. The service was below average. My waitress was nice enough but was not the kind that fills coffee cups, checks in with the customer, has her head up while walking looking for issues. She refilled my coffee exactly one time. Traditional diner food done right. This place isnt reinventing the wheel but offering the usual breakfast and lunch fanfare with good taste. Coming in at 10:30AM on a Saturday, this place is packed. Luckily I only had to wait 5 minutes for a table. I ordered the combo omelet with hashbrowns and toast, along with one pancake, bacon, a cup of oatmeal, and a bowl of mixed fruit. The omelet was delicious! Every ingredient the description advertised was present, while all working in harmony with every bite. The oatmeal isnt anything special, but I like that they give you raisins and brown sugar on the side. The toast was the right texture, easily spreadable for butter and jam. The hashbrowns were fairly crispy on the outside, while never being soggy at the bottom. It also had the right amount of oil cooked in it. The mixed fruit bowl is a joke when it comes to variety. They dump an entire can of cling peaches and add a few pieces of pineapple and maraschino cherries. Luckily I like cling peaches, but theres nothing about this fruit bowl thats fresh or seasonal. I didnt receive my pancake because the short-order cook forgot to make it. After eating everything else, I was satisfied with not having it and didnt want to wait for it. Overall, I can see now why this place has had a steady stream of customers. Im usually wary of diners since I think they have big portions with mediocre taste. This place actually breaks from that mold (especially around DFW). Im not always in the mood for traditional American breakfast, but this place hits the spot. read more
