I miss the Dream Cafe in the Quadrangle and the one that was in what I always call the "Sakowitz Village" area..Monteith and Beltline. I decided to try their newest one in Richardson...and so glad I did. As soon as you enter, there is a great vibe...very sleek, neat & clean. Our server, David was very friendly and took good care of us...kept my coffee cup full...which BTW was very tasty... I am a coffee snob. We had the angel cloud pancakes and the Monte Cristo sandwich...both delicious...and the pancake portion was HUGE! This is only about 15 minutes from the house so will definitely be back! read more

Not an enjoyable meal and service was meh. I asked the server to offer her favorite dishes on the menu and she only came up with one, I guess that should have been my first red flag. She suggested the Gilroy Chicken, which came with mash potatoes. Where I adore capers, this dish came with way too many, almost a 1/4 cup per the dish, which made it way too salty. The sauce was gloopy instead of silky, it only had 2 pieces of artichokes per the whole dish. The mash potatoes tasted instant and lacked flavor. My scrambler came at first with cold hash browns and eggs. They brought me a new plate that was warm; so good for them! The popover was the best thing. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meal itself was fine but again, unremarkable. My husband had chicken and waffles, which was very flavorful, however the gravy had a heavy flour taste to it and the syrup was watered down to the point where there was foam on top. First time here this morning. Service was good. Food was okay. The turkey club barely had enough toppings on it $15. The crab cake Benedict is $18-$19 and a really good amount of food but you have to like really fishy tasting crab. The queso's flavor was really good but it was quite watery. A larger mimosa is going to cost you $12 a glass. I like all of the different juice options but not a place where I would spend that much on multiple drinks. That's would add up FAST. Prices here were just surprising high and I couldn't figure out why. We sat out on the patio because it was such a nice day. Despite the fly deterrent, those little buggers were determined to land on our food. The price you pay for sitting outside with food. Great spot! I remember frequenting their uptown location in the quadrangle about a couple of decades ago (yes, I'm old). This spot is a bit further out but still has similar vibes. I stopped by for breakfast on a weekday with a friend. We had a great time and sat out on their patio. Great food and service. I ended up getting an omelette and it was quite tasty. The coffees and teas are also delicious. The service is attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new go to brunch spot with nice outdoor seating. read more

I have mentioned this before, I'm not a big breakfast person, so when I do go out to eat early in the morning it better be a good experience. And Dream Cafe was just that - it was really good. Their open space dinning room in warm colors of green and orange makes you feel right at home. The wait staff was everything you hoped for when eating breakfast. They were quick to seat you, the waiter was at our table within seconds getting our drinks, and our order was taken within a few minutes. The scrambled eggs were very tasty, and they had popovers for breakfast. Another great treat for my un-normal morning breakfast event. I like the ambiance of Dream Cafe. Walking in, it feels a bit industrial, yet very woodsy. Wood and brick are the main interior construction materials here. I will give the interior a 4 rating. The food was really good. I got a ham and cheese omelette, and it came with hash browns and a delicious fresh popover with a very small strawberry butter. I quickly saw the lack of proportions would not satisfy me and asked the waiter for more. He said "no problem". But, apparently it WAS a problem because even with a reminder he still did not bring it. In fact, he came to pick up my plate, had it in his hand, and then I asked again, and this time, no apology or acknowledgment that I had already asked, just went and brought back some butter. The kicker now was he had taken my knife when he came to get dishes and cleared everyone else's plates. I did not bother to ask, just spread the butter on the other part of the popover with a another piece of popover. Did you ever eat at the original Dream Café at the Quadrangle? My friends and I have such great memories--delicious food and a makeshift play area where the kids could run wild while we caught up. So when we were figuring out brunch today, Dream Café popped up--and guess what? There's now one way closer to home in North Dallas! We headed to the Richardson location, and while there's no kid play zone this time, the food totally lived up to the nostalgia--every bit as tasty as it was nearly 40 years ago. Our friends ordered the Strap Hanger (think: eggs, popover, crispy bacon, and even crispier hash browns) and the Glory Omelet loaded with spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss. Big hits all around. My wife wasn't feeling eggs this morning, so she went with the Mushroom Swiss Burger, no bun--looked awesome. I couldn't pass up the Crab Cake Benedict. Made with real lump crab meat, it was absolutely delicious. Sure, I wouldn't have complained if the cakes were a little bigger, but they hit the spot. The space felt more open and comfy than the old location, and the service? Spot on--friendly, fast, and super attentive. We were wrapping up around 2 p.m., just as the wait list was dying down, and they let us hang out and chat a bit longer--no pressure to clear the table. Once the front started filling up again, we settled the (very reasonable) check and headed out. The only times it was really crowded was breakfast on weekends, but we still had immediate seating. Lunch was not a problem either, and sadly dinner it is kind of sparse with customers. This was our first time at this location in Richardson off beltline and highway 75. It was similar to there other locations in meaningful ways. 1. We waited 25 minutes for breakfast on a Sunday which is typical for their locations because they are popular place for breakfast. 2. The food quality was also similar which is always very good. 3. Their coffee is the best blend in the city for my money. 4. This location has a 10-12 seat bar too. 5. Their prices are comparable to others not to high but not cheap 6. Crab cake Benedict was something we don't see at other places and it's worth trying if you do like seafood. I felt like it had the right amount of crab for breakfast. Hashbrowns were good. The yogurt parfait was fresh and good amount of yogurt. The toast wasn't too bad at all. My friend ordered the carrot, apple and lemon juice (omitted the ginger since some two of us don't like ginger) she thought was ok. Green tea matcha latte is in the photo. My friend liked her chai tea latte. Overall food is not bad for pricing. Definitely better compared to honeyberry place off George bush. Service was good as well. Our server was attentive. So glad to find this Dream Cafe closer to home! I used to frequent the one in uptown when I worked nights, my coworkers and I would go for breakfast/sunrise happy hour:) and loved it, then I found the Lake Highlands one which is a lil closer to home, and great food of course, but this one is the closest!! Met my husband after work, we sat at the bar and had the pleasure of chatting with Janae the bartender, which by the way, small world she is from Seattle,Wa as my husband is, and went college in Bellview, same as my husband! He had fun talking with her as she made my lemon drop Martini and then an Expresso Martini (both delicious by the way) we started with their hummus with carrots/celery and pita, delicious and fresh! I had the Shrimp and Grits, delicious, very flavorful with 5-6 large meaty shrimp, tasty mushrooms and a tomato relish of sorts. Tucked a little off the main road next to Lockwood distillery, it's was a las minute decision to grab some lunch. Service was very kind and quick. The inside is cute and roomy to be such a small venue. It was a little loud in there which was my only downside. We had the chicken pot pie and the club. Very tasty and nice presentation too! I ordered the steak and eggs and was very disappointed with my experience. When I asked for A1 sauce, the bottle was filled with watered-down liquid. After shaking it, I poured it on my steak, only to have it ruin my eggs, hash browns, and steak. I sent the plate back and requested a remake. Instead of remaking the meal, the kitchen simply removed the hash browns I had left and the barely touched eggs, placed them on a warmer (which dried them out), and then served them back to me with a very small steak. This felt careless and unacceptable. When I brought the situation to the waiter's attention, he claimed they had made me a new plate--yet it was obvious they hadn't. Between the watered-down sauce, the dried-out food, the smaller portion, and the dishonesty, this was a terrible customer service experience. It's about 7:30 at night but the wife's in the mood for breakfast. We call and they tell us they serve breakfast all day. We get the menu but it's the dinner menu and has maybe, 3 breakfast items on it. We flag down our waitress and she gives us the breakfast menu. Better. Not many "traditional" breakfast items fyi. Wife orders the Elvis. I get the Chicken Enchiladas. Enchiladas were good. Not terrific but satifying and tasty. I don't know about Elvis. So there's the food part. Service was not good. For a new place--we were told it was open about 3 months-we expected better service. Patio was semi-full but we were the only ones inside. Took a very long time to get served. And to get food. I accidentally discovered this place while looking for spots to eat for my birthday. The spot is kind of hidden behind the gas station and the shopping center with the Dollar Tree. When we went, the place is quite empty. We were immediately greeted and given menus. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was nice and crunchy and the chicken breast was nice and juicy. No complaints! I also had a French 75 which was made to perfection. Great 1st experience and I'll definitely be back during a happy hour. Good food but very noisy inside. We were one of only 6 tables during a weekday. very hard to hear the waitress or my lunch companions. Issue is one that is becoming more common in interior designs. No ceilings! look up just painted black girders and roof bottom, visible ducts and very high. No sound proofing or noise reduction. Essentially a cheap move in with minimal investment needed. Results noise! Best food in the world can't prevent a bad dining experience if you can't enjoy your surroundings.
