Took roughly about 20 minutes but it was worth the wait because it was one of the tastiest hot chicken sandwich I've had to date! It was beautifully seasoned, nicely crisped and juicy! The flavor was there and not just overpoweringly chili powder or buffalo sauce. Savory!! -- I'm reliving it and craving another one just thinking about it. I put in the address from Yelp to Apple Maps and after driving an hour I don't see the name of the restaurant. Only a place called cowboy chicken. I assume Apple Maps has taken me to the wrong place so I go to Google maps and type in smackbird. It routes me to a place in Carrollton about 15 min away. The friend I was meeting with pulls up to cowboy chicken as well and decides to walk inside. She said it's like a ghost kitchen which you have to order online to get the food. Very confusing for customers like me who I turned back around. I don't think it took more than 30 min to get the food after ordering. The inside is a spaced out seating along the walls of the restaurant. Small intimate setting, casual. Good enough for my friend and I to catch up. However, despite the misunderstandings, food was yummy. I liked the fries. I got the big bird sandwich. Double the chicken patties. I got the 3rd level which is not the highest but probably the good smack. It was a good starting level for me. I could try the highest spice level next time if I'm ever going out this far again. I ordered jalapeño ketchup but either they gave me regular ketchup or there was no difference at all. Overall worth a try. I've been eating chicken sandos all over the DFW area and really wasn't impressed with this one, First off the Yelp address is wrong for this place and will lead you into an industrial estate. The 'ghost kitchen' is inside Cowboy Chicken which I already knew from reading the Yelp reviews but I didn't realised the address was already programmed in wrong! When you walk into the restaurant , you actually have no idea Smackbird is in there, no signage or nothing. I had to ask the cashier, "this is Smackbird, right?" and he sent me over to another employee who used a tablet to place our order. We went for a chicken sandwich each, heat level: good smack and tenders to share, hard smack. After we had finished placing our order and paid, the employee told us hard smack was too hot ! He maybe could have said while we were ordering. Anyway our food came out in about 10-15 minutes, I don't think any of the other patrons were eating Smackbird. The food came, and is definitely cooked to order, the sandwich was soo hot to eat, I had to wait for it to cool down. However, neither of us enjoyed our sandwiches - the chicken was weird, it wasn't easy to bite into, definitely wasn't tender, it was very weird. The batter was very crispy, almost crack a tooth too crispy. Tbh I really didn't enjoy my sandwich and my husband left the majority of his chicken. The mac and cheese was decent, the fries were cut differently and called fry dippers - they were pretty good tbh, just not enough of them. Took a little time to find the place since there wasn't really a sign, but finally found it by asking. I was turned off by the wait time (basically 30-40 minutes). But I appreciated the good customer service of giving me the large souvenir cup because of the wait. While waiting, I realized the ambiance could use some work. And with the anxiety of waiting and the ambiance, I wasn't really feeling too good about my food. But finally after the long wait, I was given my food and a peach cobbler as a token. I really appreciated the customer service. I immediately opened my food to see if the wait was worth it and the food looked great. Not only did it look great, but it tasted great. The one they recommended lacked the spice and sauce. Their side of fries are average but good with jalapeno ketchup. I was a fan of their signature sauce though! Accidentally found this place and I'm glad we found them. It's a "Ghost Kitchen" located inside-of Cowboy Chicken on Preston Rd. Ho to the counter and ask for 'Smack Bird" because there's no sign or menu available--they will show you a QR code to scan with your phone, you order and pay from there. Hubby and I ordered the Mac & Cheese Sandwich with cole slaw and fries. We sat down and waited for our food, which we thought would come out package to go but THANK GOD when it came out it was on a tray ready to be eaten. Chicken tenders- outstanding. They were crispy, but not so much so that the batter overwhelms- pretty much perfect. As others have said, these were BIG tenders. There was enough for me for a number of leftover meals, and the tenders were crispy even after microwaving. The smack sauce was really good. I thought the french fry dippers were good, but not amazing. A nice surprise was the sweet tea. I was expecting it to be good, but it was VERY good- nearly perfect amount of sugar. Overall, currently my favorite chicken tenders (and probably sandwich) in the area. I'm looking forward to trying the chicken in sandwich form next time, as well as the coleslaw. So I looked through the online menu. "WHERE'S THE CHICKEN SANDWICH?!?" There's literally a chicken sandwich on Yelp. I see photos. I'm not crazy. "Am I in the Twilight Zone?" The chicken inside the sandwich was huge/yuge and bigly (quoting my least favorite president ever). I got GoodSmack (the medium), which I personally felt wasn't spicy enough. The bun was warm, the chicken fresh, the cole slaw added fake veggies drenched in mayo (hey it made the sandwich feel slightly healthier) to give it some additional flavor. Overall excellent sandwich! The fries were actually very good - super crispy and thick. The jalapeño ketchup just tasted like regular ketchup though! Prior to placing my order, I specially asked him "how big are the chicken tenders" and his answer was "each piece of chicken is 2 ounces so around the same size as raising canes". When he said that I thought to myself, oh they're decent sizes then so I'll get 4 pieces. I open up my order when I get home and I can say I'm honestly disappointed, the chicken is small! Like for $16, these small ass pieces of chicken aren't even close to the same size as raising canes and the 1 piece in my order isn't even a full size ‍ the Cole slaw was okay and the banana pudding is good. I ordered the tenders in the "good smack" spice level which should be around medium on the hotness level, but I tasted absolutely no spices at all, it was pretty plain. Did UberEats pickup from this place a couple of times, and the food was delicious and hot! I ordered their spicy chicken sandwich (Good Smack level of spice, which is their medium), french fry dippers, macaroni and cheese, and one tender (to try a bit of everything, ya know). The spicy chicken sandwich was a bit small looking at first, but the flavor was outstanding and the spice was sure hot. I don't particularly handle spice well, but I really enjoyed that kick. The french fry dippers reminded me of bigger wedges if you like those. The macaroni and cheese was nothing special, but it sure was creamy and cheesy. The tender I tried was good and crispy. This is one the newest "ghost" kitchens in town. I ordered on Ubereats and it was still hot and fresh when it arrived. I ordered the chicken tenders with no smack and little smack. The little smack is just right for someone that wants a little kick but doesn't want the heartburn later. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the Mac and cheese was delicious.
