Order inside (at the end of the counter)

Wait...Cowboy Chicken?! Did my maps app lead me to the wrong place? Is it somewhere else in this strip mall? Don't you worry 'bout; you're in the right place. Smackbird is a "ghost kitchen" within Cowboy Chicken. Head on in and look for the tablet with a red case at the end of the counter to place your order or download their app. If you're looking for a spicy dry rub on some chicken chunks, you've come to the right place! Decide between white meat nuggets or thick strips and then choose your heat level. Sides are simple, yet friendly with additional heat options (for example, fries with jalapeño ketchup). While the food is basically above average chicken strips, the mystery of the ghost kitchen + friendly and polite wait staff + tasty sauce options to accompany = a fun experience for a traveler like me. Looking forward to coming back and exploring other options on their menu!

So first things first, the directions attached to this place is now accurate so no need to worry. I ordered directly from their site because like everyone said prior, this is a ghost kitchen. Once I made my order online it came out in the range I was given, the text updates were very good and on time. You will pick up your order on the top shelf from Cowboy Chicken like it states; I didn't need to check in with any of the employees; I walked in, grabbed my food and walked out which was nice.. straight to the point. Now, my food; I ordered the sandwich and the potato dippers and both were impeccable! I love the quick and easy service when it came to this meal, no fluff, no talking.. just great food and vibes. 10/10 highly recommend, this was my first time using a ghost kitchen and definitely not my last!

Oh my goodness! This place is GREAAAAT. If you are a fan of spicy chicken, you must get these items. They will not disappoint. And here we gooooo...... Atmosphere - 3/5 - Why a 3? Because my pride was hurt haha. I literally drove around the building 3 times before realizing this is a GHOST kitchen. If you want to order, you must download the app and order from the app. This ghost kitchen is located INSIDE Cowboy Chicken. Anyway, the atmosphere is ...well, Cowboy Chicken...nothing fancy, but not the point. It is all about the food. Staff - 5/5 - Very helpful in explaining the process as I was confused being there the first time. So as mentioned above, download the app and order Ahead so you can just pick up. You cannot order any other way. You also can eat there as well. Food - 5/5 - Now the good part. My household is a huge fan of spicy, INCLUDING my 2 year old. That boy can eat hotter than me. But even I wouldn't let him try the levels that this place can do. The hot is HOT. Ordered the following: Smack n' Cheese ($13.50) - 5/5 - It is their HUGE chicken sandwich...topped with? MAC n CHEESE....I did a level 3 and it is a amazing. Nice blend of heat, flavor and spices. 3 Tender Meal ($12.75) - 5/5 - Did a level 4. Um, yeah it has a kick. However, it is so good. If you like spicy, I wouldn't go past level 4. But, I of course had to try the level 5....sooooooo HxllSmack Challenge Tender ($5) - I do not know how to rate this. It's friggin hot. So if I had to rate it on how hot....it's definitely 5/5. Flavor? 3/5 - At some point. hot is too hot. Recommend??? Yes, when you want to make your friends hurt inside and out. Mexican Street Corn ($4) - 5/5 - If you don't get this, you are missing OUT. Surprisingly one of the best street corn I have ever had. You must get. Banana Pudding ($4) - 5/5 - Use the free Yelp offer, and if it is no longer offered, get it anyway. It will help with the heat. Overall, this is one of my Top 3 Nashville Chicken spots in Dallas. I will definitely keep coming back. Link to order (You need this): https://order.online/store/smackbird-nashville-hot-chicken-dallas-1187813/?hideModal=true&pickup=true

Chicken sandwich (litesmack)

If you're a fan of the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich, Smackbird is the place for you to visit! This ghost kitchen is located inside of Cowboy Chicken. The chicken sandwich is crispy, flavorful and big with their signature Smacksauce. You can choose your heat level for the hot chicken. LiteSmack has flavor but not noticeable spice, whereas the GoodSmack has the right amount of kick to your bite without being overwhelming! I'll have to come back and try their jumbo tenders because their chicken is so juicy. Grab a side of dippers (potato skin fries) and banana pudding and you've got a full meal! I was taken aback how spicy the lemonade was! It tasted like a blend of lemonade and cayenne, which was a unique experience.

I've been eating chicken sandos all over the DFW area and really wasn't impressed with this one, First off the Yelp address is wrong for this place and will lead you into an industrial estate. The 'ghost kitchen' is inside Cowboy Chicken which I already knew from reading the Yelp reviews but I didn't realised the address was already programmed in wrong! When you walk into the restaurant , you actually have no idea Smackbird is in there, no signage or nothing. I had to ask the cashier, "this is Smackbird, right?" and he sent me over to another employee who used a tablet to place our order. We went for a chicken sandwich each, heat level: good smack and tenders to share, hard smack. After we had finished placing our order and paid, the employee told us hard smack was too hot ! He maybe could have said while we were ordering. Anyway our food came out in about 10-15 minutes, I don't think any of the other patrons were eating Smackbird. The food came, and is definitely cooked to order, the sandwich was soo hot to eat, I had to wait for it to cool down. However, neither of us enjoyed our sandwiches - the chicken was weird, it wasn't easy to bite into, definitely wasn't tender, it was very weird. The batter was very crispy, almost crack a tooth too crispy. Tbh I really didn't enjoy my sandwich and my husband left the majority of his chicken. The mac and cheese was decent, the fries were cut differently and called fry dippers - they were pretty good tbh, just not enough of them. However I won't be recommending this place to anyone, that sandwich sucked b*lls. We were full from our sandwiches that we didn't even touch our tenders and took a to go box, my husband snacked on them later and complained they were far too hot.

Reba G.

I'm definitely a fan of this place, but if you like spicy, order a level higher than what they recommend. I got the level higher, and it definitely had a nice kick to it. The one they recommended lacked the spice and sauce. Their side of fries are average but good with jalapeno ketchup. I was a fan of their signature sauce though! I have ordered from here a few times, and their service has been good each time. I was missing condiments, but I survived without it. Haha. The chicken tenders are a good portion, and they are very plump with good flavor. Their sandwich is also a great portion as well, they definitely do not cheat you on the portion.

Mac & Cheese Chicken Sandwich

Accidentally found this place and I'm glad we found them. It's a "Ghost Kitchen" located inside-of Cowboy Chicken on Preston Rd. Ho to the counter and ask for 'Smack Bird" because there's no sign or menu available--they will show you a QR code to scan with your phone, you order and pay from there. Hubby and I ordered the Mac & Cheese Sandwich with cole slaw and fries. We sat down and waited for our food, which we thought would come out package to go but THANK GOD when it came out it was on a tray ready to be eaten. The sandwiches were huge, the chicken was enormous and the fries were like none I've ever had. Super delicious!!! Can't wait to go back!

I was in the taste of chicken and Yelp led me here as it's close to home and the reviews were good, yet I don't feel the same. The older man at the counter was nice and answered the questions I asked as I wasn't sure how it worked or that it was a "ghost kitchen". Prior to placing my order, I specially asked him "how big are the chicken tenders" and his answer was "each piece of chicken is 2 ounces so around the same size as raising canes". When he said that I thought to myself, oh they're decent sizes then so I'll get 4 pieces. I open up my order when I get home and I can say I'm honestly disappointed, the chicken is small! Like for $16, these small ass pieces of chicken aren't even close to the same size as raising canes and the 1 piece in my order isn't even a full size ‍ the Cole slaw was okay and the banana pudding is good. Not sure I would come back here, $15 for those small ass chicken pieces are not worth it! All the other similar chicken places have the same prices but bigger chicken pieces.

Smack bird tenders dramatically smaller in size

They weren't lying! The chicken tenders are back to their original size! Thank you, Smackbird!

It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone. "You have reached your destination". Huh? Starts driving around parking lot "Am I going crazy?" There is not a hot chicken place in this plaza Changes from Apple Maps (why am I even using this?) to Google Maps. "You have reached your destination". No this is a Cowboy Chicken, not Smackbird Hot Chicken. "Am I in the Twilight Zone?" No you are not. The place is actually inside the Cowboy Chicken, and they are just using the Cowboy Chicken kitchen. There is no sign in front of the place telling you this though. So please do the world a favor and add a sign. When I went into the store, I was told that you cannot order in person and that you have to order from the online site. So I looked through the online menu. "WHERE'S THE CHICKEN SANDWICH?!?" There's literally a chicken sandwich on Yelp. I see photos. I'm not crazy. "Am I in the Twilight Zone?" No, you are not (https://order.online/store/smackbird-1187813/en-US). Can you find the chicken sandwich?!?! I think not! I ordered two tenders, fries, and a mac and cheese. And I went in and asked them to change the two tenders to a sandwich. They obliged. Anyways, it took about 15 minutes (even though app tells you 30 minutes). The chicken inside the sandwich was huge/yuge and bigly (quoting my least favorite president ever). I got GoodSmack (the medium), which I personally felt wasn't spicy enough. The bun was warm, the chicken fresh, the cole slaw added fake veggies drenched in mayo (hey it made the sandwich feel slightly healthier) to give it some additional flavor. Overall excellent sandwich! The fries were actually very good - super crispy and thick. The jalapeño ketchup just tasted like regular ketchup though! And the mac and cheese was good (although it is the same exact one they make in the Cowboy Kitchen). Overall not bad - total meal was $12.99. I would come back! Leaving the twilight zone. Josh is out!

Great place for some hot chicken! This was an interesting experience because it was a little difficult to find, but glad we did. It's a "ghost kitchen" so they only have to-go or delivery within a certain radius. We picked up our order. The location is in the cowboy chicken, so don't be alarmed if you can't find a sign in the shopping center for it. The order was ready quick and the food was delicious. The "good smack" heat was pretty spicy just as a reference.

Hot chicken sandwich with coleslaw on the side. DoorDash delivery.
Jerry K.

Had DoorDash delivery for lunch. Only ordered the Chicken Sandwich with the Goodsmack level of hot. Slaw came on the side which I added to my sandwich. Chicken was perfect and nice and juicy. Messy and tasty sandwich. They need just a little bit bigger buns than these Mrs Bairds standard hamburger size. Good stuff!

My best choice that day!
Juan M.

Very friendly staff, I decided to EAT IN. Very rare but I wanted a fresh order for my review. mmmMMMMmmmMMMmmmmmMMmmmm.... Them some good eatens! I wanted to see what the chicken sandwich was about and it delivered in delicious fashion. I don't normally make it a point to eat the bread and I left no evidence of existence. I choose the 2nd highest heat sauce but I'll try the hottest the next time I return. All sides (MAC and Fries) were tasty.

Anyone know if they use egg in their batter for the chicken? Have a family member with an allergy

Hi, we use a pre-dip batter mix that is prepared in a warehouse with eggs. This means all their products say "may contain egg" on them. They aren't listed in the ingredients but, to be safe, I would say that your family member shouldn't eat it.… Read more

The moment we walked in, it felt like home, but not in the "kick off your shoes" way. No, this was the "you're safe here, baby" kind of home. The vibe? Cozy. Elevated. Like Restoration Hardware met someone emotionally stable. Elliott was our server and an absolute delight. Joseph was the manager, casually spreading joy like Oprah with a tray of Bloody Mary shots. Amber... now let me pause here, because this woman deserves a paragraph of her own. Amber isn't just a GM. She's the kind of soul you meet once and never forget. When I asked for her to come to our table just to pay her a compliment, we both practically teared up. She received it with open arms, no ego, no deflection, just pure, gracious presence. I was mid-sentence and suddenly I had that Creed song stuck in my head. You know the one. "With arms wide open..." That's the kind of energy she brought to the entire restaurant. Amber made every person in that room feel like they mattered. Not because it's her job, but because it's who she is. She's fresh off earning her master's in hospitality, and if that degree came with a crown, she's wearing it. The Porch doesn't just run smoothly. It runs on Amber energy. But let's talk about the moment I saw God. Cornbread Eggs Benedict: Not crab. Not salmon. Corn. Bread. And not just any cornbread. The softest, fluffiest, most cuttable cloud of golden glory I've ever had the pleasure of annihilating with a fork. A fork, not a steak knife. Do you understand how rare that is? Normally I'm out here sawing through an English muffin like I'm in a lumberjack competition. This? Melted like butter. Tasted like a hug. 12/10. Incredible. And then, as if the eggs benny enlightenment wasn't enough, Joseph reappears with a tray of free Bloody Mary shots for the entire restaurant. With olives. For everyone. The joy? Immediate. The energy? Electric. The crowd? Unified. I watched a grandmother at the next table raise her glass like the queen she is. I nearly cried. This wasn't service. This was a masterclass in human connection. Restaurants can be transactional. Robotic. This was the opposite. This was care, intention, soul. My high school principal once said: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit of extra." The Porch brought extra, bagged it, garnished it, and served it on a tray. Final thought: If you're not brunching here, I'm concerned. If you are? I'll raise my Bloody Mary shot to you. And Amber, if you ever run for mayor, you've already got my vote. I'll run your campaign and show up in a custom t-shirt.

Ordered Turkey, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage and Mac and Cheese on the 2 meat combo plate. First off, that was $27 which I thought was rather high but with the hype I thought it might be worth it. The turkey was tender and juicy and rather flavorful, except for the end piece of turkey breast (I assume) with the skin side which was extremely tough. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was okay, but it didn't really retain either the jalapeño, cheddar, or the smoky taste which I thought was disappointing. The Mac and Cheese had bacon bits on it which were nice and crispy but the Mac and Cheese wasn't very rich or complex flavor wise, which I found slightly underwhelming. The sauce was super runny and while it had flavor, I never think having to put sauce on stuff to give it flavor is the answer. All that being said, for $27 I wasn't going to leave anything on the plate. The service I thought was rather hands off and I'm surprised nobody came and checked on us although that may be just how things are. The ambiance was cool with old license plates and pictures along with some cool western themed things up on the walls to make it seem warm and homey. All in all, I was left with the feeling that there should've been more and I was kinda disappointed after all the hype I've seen and all the gravitas that the name Pecan Lodge carries with it. I'd say probably a 6.5-7/10 so that lands me at 3 stars because it really didn't feel 4 star worthy.

I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

Found this restaurant here on Yelp as we were looking for something close to American Airlines to…read moreget a good meal. Loved everything about our waiter Kev. Knowledgeable about the menu & great recommendations. Kev was a joy to have as our server. The food is amazing & love the ambiance of the restaurant. My only complaint...we came in early Saturday prior to Stars game. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked to wait. Waited maybe 5-10mins. No biggie, A lot of open tables were available for immediate sit down. Again that wasn't a big deal. I had asked for a booth & wanted to sit in front room. The hostess said no a problem. She handed us off to a younger hostess and she took us to a table. I told her I had requested a booth. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. The restaurant wasn't busy at all & never was whole time there. Kev wasn't sure why she didn't move us a requested & was puzzled himself. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact. Again Kev was amazing & food was outstanding!
