We stopped by Rodeo Goat in Plano before the dinner rush and noticed the staff busy filling a lot of to-go orders. The atmosphere is super laid back and casual, which we liked--but just a heads up, this isn't the place to go if you're in a hurry. They definitely take their time. There's a ton of seating both inside and outside, and the space itself is pretty fun. The decor is entertaining and they even have some little games around, which adds to the vibe. Everything felt clean--the tables were well taken care of and the bathrooms were spotless. As for food, we ordered the Blue Goat, the H.L. Hunt, the Royale with Cheese, and the cheese fries (No Surprise). I had the Blue Goat (no onions). It was good overall, though I wish the blue cheese flavor was a bit stronger. My husband got the H.L. Hunt and really enjoyed the candied bacon. Our son had the Royale with Cheese and it filled him up so much that he didn't even touch fries--and he loves fries, so that says a lot. Speaking of fries, the order was HUGE--easily enough for 5-6 people. If we come back, I'd definitely dig into those first while the cheese is still warm and gooey. It's called Rodeo Goat for a reason! The place has a fun, laid-back Texas burger joint vibe that feels a little like a southern diner but with a creative twist. One thing I thought was really cool is their monthly burger battle, where new specialty burgers compete and the winner stays on the menu until the next challenger takes its place. It definitely makes you curious about what burger will show up next month. We tried the Burger of the Month winner, Saddle Up!, along with the Firebird burger, homemade Goat chips, and a strawberry milkshake. One thing that surprised us was that the burgers don't come with any sides, so we had to order the Goat chips separately. The chips were great though, and the ranch that came with them was really good. The strawberry milkshake was a highlight--super creamy and delicious since it's made with real Blue Bell ice cream. Service was also really friendly. Our servers were great, and the manager (I think) even stopped by our table to check on us, which was a nice touch. My family and I went to Rodeo Goat while in the area. We drove up, parked in the parking lot and walked in. We were greeted by two friendly hostesses. They told us that we could pick where we wanted to sit. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors. We looked around and found a table. After sitting we waited for a few minutes and then our waitress showed up. She was super friendly and helpful throughout our meal. She did an excellent job despite being super busy. She brought us our menus and asked us what we would like to drink. We ordered waters and she left to give us time to look at the menus. When she returned we placed our order. We chose to start with tostada chips and queso which comes with taco meat, guacamole, and pico de gallo inside the queso. There was also a side of salsa. This was a good start. The taco meat in the queso added texture and the guacamole and pico added extra flavor. The salsa was spicy and had flavor. For my main meal I chose to order from the battle of the burgers. It was Truffle Shuffle vs The Sundance Kid. I chose the Sundance Kid which comes with beef, bacon, fried mozzarella, and a strawberry chutney. It was delicious. The chutney and the mozzarella were out of this world. The bacon had flavor and the meat was cooked perfectly. We also ordered some onion rings to share. They were not listed on the menu but the waitress let us know that you could order them. The onions inside the rings were good. They had a slight sweet flavor. The outer portion of the ring was fluffy and soft not crispy. Overall it was a good place to grab a dinner. The restaurant has plenty of seating, the service was great, and the food was good. this is a 3 becasue we love rodeo goat, but this was a 1 star experience (thus an average of 3 stars). This was a rough day at Rodeo Goat. It turns out the waiter/server we had was on his first day. He took our order for drinks and came right back with them. We ordered an appetizer and that showed up in 15 minutes, but the place was very busy. He took our order for the main meal and that was the last we saw of him for 20 minutes. We were having a great conversation, so we really did not notice our meal had not shown up. He let us know he checked on the order with the kitchen and said they were backed up. He refreshed our drinks and that was the last we saw of him for 30 minutes. This time we noticed. We finally got a different wait staff to find him. He cam back again and said the order was in but it was just taking a long time. Another 30 minutes passed, the manager finally made his way to the table and brought our order. They comped the meal and were very apologetic. Not bad waiting and hour and 20 minutes to get a meal at Rodeo Goat. Not a typical experience. The other 4 times we have been to Rodeo Goat (not this location) it was always great. We ordered queso and drinks which was great and came right away. After that our waiter disappeared for a long time, finally we flagged down another waiter and turned in our burger orders. Our first waiter finally came by to apologize for the food taking so long because a large crowd had ordered ahead of us. We finally got out burgers and they were as expected. I recommend looking at the menu beforehand and be ready to order when you first see the waiter if you want to keep things moving. My primary issue though is that no one checks in after the order is dropped at the table, which for me translates to this restaurant does not really care- 'take it or leave it'. This is my third location for Rodeo Goat. Prior, I have been to their Dallas and Fort Worth locations. The Plano location may just be my favorite one. Location is near a beautiful bridge and their outdoor patio area is perfect. Me and a friend met up for lunch and our food and vibes were awesome. I love that they not only offer a wide selection of burgers on the menu but also have these battle burgers which I believe change every month. That night, our waitress told us that Wednesdays they have half-price cheese fries all day for dine-in customers. So we decided to try them out and OMG... YUM! What we didn't realize was how huge the portion would be--you could easily share it with three or four people. The restaurant has a classic burger joint ambiance, with high tables and chairs inside.
