this is a 3 becasue we love rodeo goat, but this was a 1 star experience (thus an average of 3 stars). This was a rough day at Rodeo Goat. It turns out the waiter/server we had was on his first day. He took our order for drinks and came right back with them. We ordered an appetizer and that showed up in 15 minutes, but the place was very busy. He took our order for the main meal and that was the last we saw of him for 20 minutes. We were having a great conversation, so we really did not notice our meal had not shown up. He let us know he checked on the order with the kitchen and said they were backed up. He refreshed our drinks and that was the last we saw of him for 30 minutes. This time we noticed. We finally got a different wait staff to find him. He cam back again and said the order was in but it was just taking a long time. Another 30 minutes passed, the manager finally made his way to the table and brought our order. They comped the meal and were very apologetic. Not bad waiting and hour and 20 minutes to get a meal at Rodeo Goat. Not a typical experience. The other 4 times we have been to Rodeo Goat (not this location) it was always great. Tried this place a few times since everyone raves about it. It's meh. Takes a while to get your food. It's tries to be too fancy. My kids just wanted a regular burger, which per the waitress they don't do. So got the most basic burger and stripped everything off. This was my first rodeo goat to try. Husband and I ordered to go the blue jean burger each, surprise fries, and two milkshakes to enjoy a special treat day. Due to health and personal limits, I made sure to get no jalapeños on my burger so it was not hot or spicy. The coffee milkshake was good and the fries were very tasty, but the experience changed with the burger. It wasn't until I was three bites in did I get a bite with quite a kick to it. Then it got hotter. And hotter. It got so hot I put it down, drank a ton of water then ran for some milk. Husband who enjoys hot foods admitted it was quite hot like habanero, and it wasn't the jalapeños since he ate those just fine and mine didn't have any. Unfortunately, I did not make it even halfway through the burger before my stomach became so upset and sick that I didn't want to eat anything and was miserable in pain for 3 hours. Husband called and the manager said he would credit us back the money for the whole order. He assured it was not supposed to be a hot burger and was unsure what happened. Although I'm happy they were responsible by wanting to take care of the situation, I still feel like I paid for the burgers in pain and it ruined my evening. It's been about 5-6 years since I've been here, and my coworkers and I went for lunch today! It was just as good as I remember, maybe even better! I really love that they have such a variety of burger options, and our waiter even had a recommendation for us. Conglomerate review of multiple locations. What has happened to this place? Last 3 or 4 times have all been a miss. I can chalk 1 or 2 times as a one off but multiple locations (Arlington, Plano) have been not great experiences. We met family for burgers tonight. It had been a few years since we'd eaten here. The food was good, though the burger patties seemed to have suffered shrink inflation. The real problem was how we received them. Two of us ordered medium and a third medium rare and they all came out well done. We started eating them and the waitress came by and we told her about it. My son and I have eaten at rodeo goat on Preston several times and enjoyed it very much. We tried this location but the service was terrible. We ordered queso and drinks which was great and came right away. After that our waiter disappeared for a long time, finally we flagged down another waiter and turned in our burger orders. Our first waiter finally came by to apologize for the food taking so long because a large crowd had ordered ahead of us. We finally got out burgers and they were as expected. Immediately after being sat down we asked for a high chair (we have our one year old) and were told there were no high chairs allowed at the table we were sitting at and she still proceeded to sit us there, also at a table I didn't properly fit at (I'm 8 months pregnant) but we figured we'd make it work and got a booster seat at least. Our server didn't come for the longest time either, we thought for a minute that we didn't have one and it continued to be like that for the entire dinner. At the end we wanted milkshakes for dessert but we were neglected for so long we said never mind and just wanted our check to get out of the restaurant. My burger was good, my husband's was okay, everything else was definitely not up to par. Our cheese fries were hard and looked like they had been sitting for a while. You could poke it with a fork and the entire bowl of fries moved altogether and my daughter's grilled cheese was the same. The cheese came off like plastic. Lastly, I understand kids are kids. But the table next to us had a large party and many children who were screaming, running around the restaurant and around their table in circles, and some of the parents were standing up as well in between the tables playing with the children. One mom was even picking up her kids to spin them around. This went on the ENTIRE dinner. After all the screaming and the children running in front of the waiters, I figured management would come by soon enough but no. Absolutely nothing was said to these people until after 8pm struck and it was simply because after 8pm they don't want any children in the restaurant because lots of people come in to drink at this time..... Very disappointed, was recommended for their "great" burgers and if I didn't at least like my burger I would've gave this place ZERO stars. We generally come here when we are in the mood for a solid burger. The prices are a bit high, but the portions make up for it, for the most part. My hub and I shared a nanny burger and loaded cheese fries. we washed it down with a couple of draft beers. Food is pretty good at a fare price. Lots of yummy choices. RG's "hand punched" fries were harder than those canned things. They seemed to be the leftovers from a days worth of fry making. They were HARD. Contacted them through their web site and got no response. Nothing. Zip. Nada. It cost $8 for two orders of inedible fries and that's ridiculous. Went back tonight and got okay fries (tasted kind of like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for a while) but the Goat Chips we ordered should have been served with spoons. There were a few larger chips but the rest was crumbs. The waitress just said, "At the end of the day, that's what they serve". This is my favorite burger and I'm afraid to try another! I hear that the impossible burger for vegans is delicious. They also have a different battle of the burger to pick from every month. I've been twice and I'm just not a fan. Admittedly though, single thick patty burgers are not my preference. Besides that, I find RG's but to be consistently over cooked and not at all memorable. One would think they would be amazing considering it's what they do and the menu has a variety of choices with different toppings but for me none are executed well and simply don't inspire.
