I love Pollo Campero! It's been awhile and I was craving some slow roasted grilled chicken. Today's visit did not disappoint. I chose a 3-piece meal deal. The chicken had a yummy citrus grilled taste. The roll was soft and paired well. For my side I ordered the campero beans. The pinto beans are always so well seasoned. The beans have a delicious flavor combination from the spices. For my mom she loves fried chicken. I ordered a leg and wing for her. It was fried nicely. Her side was rice and she was happy with it. IMO, their spicy chicken sandwich is better than Popeyes and Chick fil a. The chicken isnt hard, I much prefer this over CFA's sandwiches. The spicy mayo sauce is bomb and theres enough pickles. Will not go back. Prices are outrageous. I ordered directly off the menu and the order taker couldn't understand what I was ordering. I told her I am ordering right off the menu; Six Count Meal. She didn't know what that was. Then when I drove up to the window, she finally understood. The manager came to the window and took my credit card and when he told me the amount I couldn't understand him. I had to ask for a receipt which seem to upset the manager. Very, very amateur service even FOR FAST FOOD. $13.90 for a chicken nugget MEAL. I ordered a "MEAL" and they charged me separately $2.90 for a SMALL drink. The food was unexpected. I did not think I would enjoy it so much, it was intended as a quick bite. We ended up trying a good bit of the menu. The fried chicken is divine! The grilled chicken is okay but still very good. The empanadas were very tasty. The little nuggets were chunks of all white meat instead of ground up nonsense. The flan was even good!! Like how did a fast food place nail flan?! The service was polite and efficient. I like that if you dine it you're served with plates instead of paper and plastic. This is a fast food place, but it offers a twist from your usual fare. First, it's Guatemalan food, so you will find things like flan, empanadas and corn salad on the menu. While you can still do the American thing and get fries and soda with your order, why not mix it up. That corn salad as a side is delicious. I wash everything down with the horchata drink. To me, it's like liquid rice pudding (sweet cinnamon). My husband always goes for the mango drink. Both are a delightful change. They specialize in chicken. You can order it a variety of ways, but my favorite HERE is grilled. Normally, at other restaurants, I go for crunchy, crispy, fried, and spicy to give the food flavor; however at Pollo Campero, the grilled chicken has great seasoning. Plus, the meat is very moist. You'll find yourself licking your fingers to get one last taste. The big downside is that you will easily pay around $15 for two combos. That's a bit pricey for fast food, but I'll be back for more because it feels a bit healthier than the other fast food joints in the area. read more

After reading the reviews I was so nervous to try them out but I had a free meal coupon so I figured what could it hurt. Upon arrival what I believe to be the manager greeted us and took our order. We dined in so we received our number filled our drinks and waited for our food. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Upon arrival I was very impressed by the plates. As minor as it seems the fact that they use legit plates that you would eat on at home was such a nice touch! As far as the meal goes the fries were lukewarm but the chicken was very flavorful. My favorite part of the meal was the verde empanada that I got for free for checking in on Yelp. I didn't really care for the entire meal but I will definitely be back for the empanadas. I normally get the grilled chicken , plantains, Yuka fries and the corn salad and it has been delicious every single time. I once tried the fried chicken and I'm not a big fan of it, maybe because the grilled chicken tastes way better. Visited tonight about an hr before closing. Staff was already picking up for the night but I was still greeted promptly. I had a delicious fried leg and thigh. They were super light and crispy on the outside yet moist and juicy once I tore into it. I also had the campero beans for a nice little porky fix. Fries were great again crisp on the outside soft center. The empanada was interesting kinda like a handheld cheesy chicken pot pie. Service was the star of the show tonight, staff was super friendly and made sure I was enjoying everything. Even grabbed me some hot sauce! Attentive but not bothersome! If you love chicken this place is a must! Had the opportunity to experience a delicious and quick meal here tonight and my experience was all positive. Since this was my first visit, I stuck to what I know and ordered the 3 piece Hand Battered Fried Chicken. The entree was accompanied with a side of chilled Cole Slaw, warm Tortillas and an ice cold Latin Mango drink (one of 3) The Chicken was juicy, savory, flavorful and the crispy fried buttery skin on it was fantastic! Any meal just isn't complete without ordering the Empanadas. Mine was filed with generous amount of Chicken, Jalapeños, Chipolté Honey Mustard and ofcourse, Cream Cheese! After the first bite, I was convinced it was made with love! The flavor was both robust and rich without being overwhelming. For the encore, the flan dessert balanced out the meal and left me satisfied. The decor was nothing extraordinary however, exceptionally clean and the menu was easy to read and food item arrangement were simplified allowing for quick and accurate decision making! Staff is courteous, friendly, quick and knowledgeable which is quite a virtue for a fast food establishment. In terms of value, this place is great for a satisfying meal with minimum spending. My entree, including a large drink was less than $10 so its definitely big on value! Overall, great concept. I recently came here and had the opportunity to sample some items from their menu. I really enjoyed their chicken. I know they're known for their fried chicken, which was good. But I really enjoyed their grilled chicken which was flavored with some tasty spices and was very juicy. This is definitely a fork and knife kind of chicken. It's probably also a lot healthier. They also had a delicious empanada which is a separate item on the menu. I also recommend their mango juice. I work close by so will bring my co-workers next time. It's a quick and easy lunch which is priced quite fairly. I'm glad I discovered this restaurant. read more

(Thats a plus) I tried the two piece grilled chicken with the corn salad and a small Horchata drink. This place was pretty clean and I like how they hand you a number and they give you your food at your table with real plates and silverware. I also love how they have health meal options and meals that are under 500 calories. The chicken is 100% hormone free and you can get it grilled or fried. I opted for the healthy grilled chicken. It had an amazing citrus and herb flavors and was very tender. The corn salad was refreshing and had fresh flavors. I would get this meal again. As for the empanada I got the dessert one and it was filled with way too much caramel and was pretty sweet. I had to squeeze out half the filling. They also messed up our order twice by giving us the wrong empanadas and they had to be replaced. I guess its hard to tell because they all look the same until you bite into it. The peruvian verde was not that great because I'm not a fan of the bell peppers and the verde sauce. It was a bit dry and had a pickled taste. The latin buffalo was much better because they used the citrus chicken in it. I love the way they marinate the chicken. I also got a small Horchata drink. It was really sweet. The only way I can drink it was to water it down. It still had good cinnamon flavors but it needed less sugar. I have driven past this restaurant a dozen times and am sad to say I have never stopped in to eat...until last night! Wow! So glad it's close to my house because we will be back! The service was impeccable and the staff so nice and very attentive. I had the 3 piece with a side and drink. Hint: mix and match your chicken! I got the famous fried and the grilled. Both were the juiciest chicken I've ever had. The grilled chicken was so moist and full of citrus flavor, loved the char also! The fried was my favorite! Incredibly crispy, flavorful & juicy.The seasoning on both types of chicken are perfect. The campero rice was great and the yucca fries were crunchy and delicious! This restaurant just opened and Richardson off Coit and beltline. I was excited to give this place a try but now I'm a bit disappointed! When I pulled up, there were about 5-6 cars in line in the drive-through and I thought it would move fairly fast. The parking lot was not very large, and it was full. I opted to go through the drive-through, which I shouldn't have done. I was probably about the fifth car back from the window and waited about three or four minutes to get to the speaker to order. When I got to the speaker, it took about five minutes for someone to acknowledge me, then I gave my order and waited about another three or four minutes for a response. I got nothing. I said, "hello" two or three times and still nothing. After about another two or three minutes, I just said forget it and left. I don't know if they got my order or not or what was the deal. I know the inside of the restaurant looked very, very busy and I know the drive-through was very slow so maybe they did not have enough help? I was stuck in traffic getting home and was looking forward to trying this plays out, having some new, hopefully good food and relaxing but not tonight. Now since this happened, I'm kind of irritated and not sure if I would want to go back there and give it another shot. If most of the spaces in the parking lot are full and there is at least three or four cars in the drive-through, I would just go somewhere else and not stop in here. read more
