Yum! The best Caribbean food in LA! I always get the small oxtail plate which comes w/rice & beans, plantains & side of cabbage. I also love both the spinach & beef patties. Their homemade juices are amazing too. They have fresh passion fruit/mango & fresh guava. I have tried other places in LA but doesn't compare to Karuba's! Service is fast & friendly. I finally decided to try this place out. It's a very nice cozy comfortable restaurant. Before the pandemic I'm sure it was a pleasant place to eat in as many places were hole in the walls. Their presentation was very nice as far as how the food looked once it was served. I had the brownstew Chicken and oxtails which I found it to be fresh and moist. The portion was good also. My take on this food is that it lacked that good Jamaican taste that allspice gives to the food. Also the salt was heavy. So much that it was nearly all I could taste in seasoning. I decided to give them a try and man was I happy that I did. I walked in and they were playing some reggae music and I could smell some greatness happening in the kitchen. I walked up to the lady behind the counter who's name is Dominique. And asked her a few questions regarding what I should order. She was really helpful and super kind which made my experience even greater. So I ordered the curry goat and you guys!!!!!! It was amazing! It comes with veggies and rice. It was so tasty. The goat was flavorful and seasoned just right! I got some hot sauce to go as well. As I'm writing this review I'm getting hungry thinking about my delicious dinner I enjoyed lastnight. We ordered the jerk chicken, which was good but had a lil pepper kick to it! Definitely had my nose running lol i ordered the a la carte option and received the curry goat and oxtails. My friend ordered the oxtail and the curry shrimp. The oxtails....oh my!!! Seriously might be the best oxtails I've ever had in life. They were soooooo tender. Fell right off the bone. The food took extremely long to come out and by time it came it was cold. We did mention it to the girl in the front but it was like it was nothing she couldn't do about it. Glad to add to the 5 star ratings for Karubas Yardy's Kitchen. They are all round. The service was warm and attentive. The place is clean. The food was really good. My wife, three kids parents and I all really enjoyed it (we had curry chicken, stew chicken, coconut shrimp, and jerk short ribs). My wife is from the Caribbean so I know good Caribbean food. This place is for real. I highly suggest you check this place out!
