My wife and I were craving Szechuan chicken for lunch, and since she wanted to try a new matcha tea spot in Duluth, we decided to turn it into a little date day. We found a restaurant not far from the matcha shop. It felt more like a Chinese takeout spot than a traditional sit-down restaurant, so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of decor. We decided to share everything we ordered. The first dish we tried was the Szechuan noodles. The flavor was excellent, but unfortunately, the dish arrived only lukewarm, as it appeared to have been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. Next, we ordered soup dumplings, but the restaurant accidentally brought out pan-seared dumplings instead. Thankfully, they let us keep them while they prepared our original order. The pan-seared dumplings were actually very good--piping hot and full of flavor. When the soup dumplings finally arrived, they were decent but didn't quite live up to the pan-seared version and lacked the same level of flavor. Finally, our Szechuan chicken arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy with a great spice profile that delivered the classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It was served with fried rice, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was good but not exceptional. The food had some strong points, especially the Szechuan chicken and pan-seared dumplings, but the restaurant ultimately felt more like a solid Chinese takeout spot than a destination dining experience. read more

I stopped by around 4pm on a weekday and the restaurant was mostly empty inside, though it seemed like the kitchen was busy with takeout orders. The food was just okay. We tried the soup dumplings, which didn't have as much broth as expected, and a chicken and shrimp dish that was supposed to be spicy but came out tasting pretty sweet instead. When we mentioned it to our server, they offered chili oil, which was nice, but I would've preferred to experience the dish as it was intended. The interior is simple and it works fine as a spot for a quick bite. That said, I was specifically craving solid Szechuan flavors, and there are definitely better options nearby if that's what you're looking for. To start, 5 stars to me means the food and/or service had WOW factor, and I could come back regularly and WILL bring many people. 4 stars is just super solid food, a place good to know to come get something to eat. 3 stars is mid, take it or leave it. 2 stars is below average, don't need to go back and won't recommend. 1 stars was BAD. So while place wasn't bad, it was below average. They need a serious redesign lol it's just not cute in here. Black and wood chairs and tables, filthy pink velvet chairs, and a velvet green bench. Why? And then you have plan white walls, ugly random patterned walls, a black wall, and a random orange flower. It's all just... Random and clashes. The egg drop soup was mid, the little fried wontons were SUPER stale. The pork egg rolls were actually tasty. And a great price. The Mongolian beef lunch special was alright, no great not bad. Juice and flavorful enough. But again the little crisps throughout the dish were stale. The soup dumplings were the biggest let down of all. Small locally run family places are my favorite for authentic cuisine, and this is no exception. Wok Provisions is my favoriteChinese food in the area, it provides exactly the right flavors and spices at a reasonable price and portion. Inside is no frills, but I prefer it that way. We had the soup dumplings which were a great version of that dish. Hand pulled noodles were also delicious. But the standout was the Mongolian beef, which I don't even normally order! It was flavorful, saucy, and tender. I will definitely be back for that one! The restaurant was not very crowded when we came but they did receive a fair share of takeout orders. My friend and I went here randomly and man, we found a SPOT! I was so pleased with everything we had here. We ordered the Cucumber Salad (DELICIOUS), The Chili Wontons (BEST THING WE HAD, SO DELICIOUS), and the Soup Dumplings (ALSO VERY DELICIOUS)! I haven't stopped thinking about the Chili Wontons since we left. They were so flavorful! I wish they offered them with other meats, but the pork was really good (which is the only meat it comes in). I didn't ask if they could replace the meat, but maybe it's something they could do! Our server was really nice and it was super quiet in here on a Sunday afternoon. If you want somewhere to just quietly eat or maybe not be somewhere so big, this "hole in the wall" type restaurant is it. I'll be back to get more of the Chili Wontons lol! read more

Why do I keep forgetting about this place? The food is really good. Gwinnett County has lots of great Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese, but great Chinese is a bit harder to find. See our Crispy Beef, Orange Chicken, Spicy Pork in Garlic Sauce, and Pan-Fried Baos with their pretty lace tops. Everything was so tasty! It wasn't too spicy but enough to make our noses run by the time we left. This is located in the Publix Shopping Center near the liquor store. Visited Wok Provision for the first time yesterday and it was very nice! Location and absence of people at that time of the day made me and my friend a little suspicious but we were not disappointed once we got our food. For appetizers we ordered- soup dumplings that were steamed very nicely, they were not too crazy hot, maybe wished for a little bit more soup in them but regardless, it was delicious. Also had pao buns with pork, and cucumber salad that SMACKED! Definitely gonna come back for some cucumber salad. For our main we got- combo Lao main noodles, that were moist, juicy and full of flavor and my friend ordered a spicy beef soup that she enjoyed very much! 10/10 very recommend! read more

Looks can be deceiving and in the case of decent beef noodle soups, pictures can be a bit... deceiving because you don't know what flavors are there and in the case of Wok Provisions, they could do much better than what they offer. I'm hunting for a good Hong Kong and Taiwanese beef noodle soup. We seem to be lacking in that department in the ATL and Greater Metro ATL area. So when I fired up the ole Yelp, this place popped up and I knew I had to try it. Just off the corner of Buford Hwy and Duluth Hwy in the Publix plaza in Duluth is where you'll find this place. It's a tiny establishment seats about 40-55 people max. It's lit decently and offers a cozy ambiance. Perfect for a date spot or a simple lunch. So let's talk food. I order the scallion pancake (a Chinese staple) and their regular beef noodle soup. The scallion pancake is served as is. No dipping sauce. No Chinese vinegar. No chili oil. Nothing. The pancake itself is fried and bland. No seasoning at all. Even if the pancake itself is not supposed to be seasoned, there should be some kind of special dipping sauce with the pancake and that was not offered which was a massive let down. But what do you get with $6 and 8 slices? The beef noodle soup. Definitely not something to write home to. The broth LOOKED rich but lacked depth. The noodles were thick rice noodles which were cooked al dente which was great but because they were thick, they didn't hold the mediocre broth well enough to enjoy. The broth itself was just a let down because you want a hearty, rich, comforting broth and this just was not it. It came out piping hot but it wasn't hot at all which was weird. It almost seemed like Chef Mic was involved in the cooking process because it came out steaming hot but i could drink the broth comfortably and that's a bit of a problem. They serve 5 slices of sirloin cap beef. The beef itself wasn't tough to chew but it's not fall off the bone tender either. It just seemed like it was just boiled meat that was marinated in a soy sauce blend and then reheated and dumped into the bowl of this mediocre broth. All in all, I can't help but state that this was a let down in terms of flavor. It is cheap at $13 but if this is the notion of you get what you pay for then no wonder it a one stop shop experience. With the $6 scallion pancake equaling out to a $20 dinner isn't bad but you could do better. read more

This was my first stop on my best soup dumplings journey. My friend and I went here for lunch one day and were greeted once we arrived. We were quickly seated since there wasn't anybody there. We asked a few questions about the menu, which the lady was very knowledgeable and helpful with. My friend ordered the Crab Rangoons as an appetizer and the Steamed Pork Bao for her meal. Those came out quickly so that's what we tasted first. I wasn't a fan of the crab rangoons due to the texture inside but the baos were amazing! The presentation was like nothing I've ever seen before. Shortly after, the soup dumplings were ready. She brought out the chili sauce and another sauce that I used with them. They were a decent size and the filling tasted phenomenal, but the only downside was that the chili sauce was not spicy at all. I have gone by this place multiple times before trying it. Should have tried this restaurant much sooner. The menu items are all well made.... But there are a few that stand out. My favorites are: 1) pan fried soup dumplings, 2) pan fried bao (bread with pork filling), and 3) mapo tofu. Exceptional dishes in my opinion! I am sure other menu items are also quite good. Was looking for some Szechuan style dishes that I had missed in Houston and stumbled upon Wok Provisions in my searches. It was in the outskirts of Atlanta suburbs, but definitely caught my interest. Interior was actually larger than I had anticipated (had a few settings that would seat 8 guests). There was a lone worker, who I assume also runs the establishment, that had sat us down, waited our tables, and worked the to-go orders ... with finesse! Super attentive, quick and overall great service! To the main point now, each dish was superb! The balance of flavors and spices were on spot on. It wasn't overly spicy, but it did have that Szechuan spice kick that its cuisine is known for. The portions were generous which is never a bad thing as it becomes leftovers for the next day, but do take not that this may allow the spicy dishes to further penetrate the dish and it'll come out to be a bit spicier. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place because it offers both great food and service. read more

I stumbled upon Wok Provisions when I was looking for a dinner spot. It's more so on the edge of Suwannee and Duluth, a bit north of downtown Duluth on Buford Highway and in the same plaza as Publix so lots of parking available. Two friend were in town and wanted buns so we thought we'd stop by and give it a try. We ordered XLB, pan fried Shanghai pork buns, mapo tofu, hand shredded cabbage, and fish in hot oil. The buns were okay. The wrapper of their soup dumplings were really thick, meat was kind of bland, and wasn't anything special. The pan fried buns, again, had little meat with a lot of dough, and also a bit bland. The rest of the food was delicious thought. We really liked the flavors and taste of the cabbage, fish, and mapo tofu. Mapo tofu was more gravy than oil which we liked. Everything else was flavorful too. We had 4 people but got 3 bowls of rice which was odd, but we weren't charged for them. We were the only table for an early lunch on Saturday. The restaurant had a few to go orders. So I give this place a 3 because I was disappointed in the dish I came in for, which was the Sichuan beef stew noodles. They were t bad just ok. Perhaps it was the soft noodles I chose but they were bigger than I expected. Nothing really bad to say about the soup, but wouldn't go back for it. The portion size was huge and the beef was abundant. So I'm sure many people would like it. The flavor wasn't bad just simply not want I had imagined. We also tried the beef and broccoli which was very good. I actually preferred that o we my own dish. The beef was soft (the soup beef was a bit tough), the sauce was great and the broccoli was also very good. Great dish. For an appetizer we had the soup dumpling with chicken. Those were also good. The brown sauce you pour on top made it very good. All in all a pretty good experience. I would go back to try something different. Or I would even get the beef and broccoli again. I can't stop coming back to this place! The beef noodle soup is cravable and the soup dumplings are the best in the area. Noodles and dumplings are made from scratch, so every bite feels like a gift. I was not expecting this gem. It's pretty hard to wow me with Chinese food, which is what I was looking for. I stumbled across this place and ordered the dan dan noodles, soup, dumplings, beef and broccoli, shrimp lomein and bao. What I will say is the breading around the baos is incredibly thick - and that is both steamed and friend but the insides of the veggie is the best. The star for me is the Dan Dan noodles.
