To beat the summer heat, I headed over to the newest cute Chinese cafe in Duluth for some cold noodle dishes. Little did I know or expect, their food is actually super delicious and fragrant mala flavors, as well as perfectly toothsome QQ noodles. The noodles have that addictive, chewy texture that you can't stop eating. TBH instead of dessert, I was just craving an extra serving of their noodles. The thickness of the noodles is a little thinner than a typical udon style noodle, with a square edge. They also have plenty of hot entrees, like rice bowls and noodle soups. They seem to be known for their Chinese style cold braised dishes, called louwei. Most of the louwei dishes are duck based, but there are also fish tofu, seaweed, and tofu skin. I tried the Cold Sesame Noodles, as well as the Mala Noodles. Both were different. I liked that the mala was more ma than la, rather than the typical red colored oily noodles, these were fragrant with green peppercorn. green peppercorn is trendy in Asia right now, just hasn't made it's way to the US yet. Because the US is still obsessed with drowning everything in red oil. Next time, I will try the Dongbei Cold Noodle as well as the Braised Beef Soup. I will have some comments on both of those dishes because Dongbei region is known for their hot dishes, not cold dishes due to their proximity. And, Braised Beef Noodles here contain an entire hotdog, randomly. Honestly, this spot is built for excellent takeout service, as their takeout packaging is prioritized and optimized. For example, even their louwei braised dishes are already pre-packed for takeout. Spice level analysis?: Spices build up slowly, but mostly numbing, which is more fragrant and natural tasting. Serving suggestions?: Recommend the cold dishes to beat the summer heat. Overall dining experience?: 5/5 fast, delicious, and excellent value for flavor and quantity Price range details?: Most dishes between $10-15 all day and include 2 side pickles: kimchi and cucumbers Service style thoughts?: Love the ordering number system.

I really liked their self-service style where there's multiple kiosks by the entrance to order your food. They'll call out your number and you'll pick up your meal from there. Food comes out very quickly. I got the braised pork over rice option. I personally felt like they were very generous on the pork and loved the side garnishes/dishes they offered. Only downside is that I felt like the pork was on the drier side and not what I expected for braised texture. This place also has a ton of seating that's spread out so doesn't feel cramped at all while you dine. Overall, really nice self-service dining experience and I'll probably be back again for lunch.

Introvert-friendly! It's mainly self-service: you can order via kiosk, then you just wait until they call your number to get your food. I ordered the braised pork and it was delicious! I forgot what my husband ordered, but he says it was really good, too. Highly recommend!

Reasonable price and good food. Absolute recommend. Just a heads-up if you order the spicy noodles, the spice is NO joke Pretty sure it cleared my sinuses better than any medicine ever could.

Want to start off by saying that we had such great service here- our waitress answered all our questions and was very attentive. Ambiance is good as well. Lots of parking available. We got a couple of things: - Pan fried pork buns: The bun was nice & fluffy with a crispy bottom and juicy meat filling. The sauce it came with was great too- perfectly sweet & vinegary. - Dry beef mixed noodles: The beef was super tender, and the noodles were flavorful. This is meant to be a cold dish, but my mom was a bit hesitant about that and they were more than willing to serve it hot! (I definitely recommend having it cold though haha) - Szechuan Numbed Pepper Broth: Got this with fatty beef. I know some similar places let you put the fillings into the broth yourself, but ours came already assembled (which is what I personally prefer). We loved how mala this broth is, probs my favorite dish we got. Also loved the texture and lightness of the rice noodles. Lots of great fillings like quail egg, spam, wood ear mushroom, cabbage. - Korean Kimchi Broth: Got this with pork chop (though actually it was pork ribs). This is a great choice if you want a tomato-y broth that has a hint of spice and acidity. Another instance of the great service because the pork ribs were kind of hard to eat with our utensils and when we asked if they could possibly cut it up, they did not hesitate to do so. Also, the pork was (again) so tender! Would, no doubt, come back for another meal here. 10/10 would recommend!

Their heaters must've stopped working because it was uncomfortably cold inside. We asked to be seated to one of the tables at the far side of the room (entry/exit door is in the middle). We ordered noodle soups and dumplings. The broth flavors were good maybe not the best I've had. Overall solid broth flavor and ingredients too. Soup Dumplings were stuck to the paper and couple of them broke while picking up. We ordered one steamed and one pan fried but both orders were steamed. We sent back the wrong order; no apology for extra wait or anything like that. Overall service is somewhat typical casual Asian restaurants where you have to wave them down if you want something, which is not very good if they're expecting 20% tips. If you're looking for a causal soup place, this is a good to OK place. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a top 5 option for Asian soups considering the many other high quality options in Atlanta.

This restaurant soft-opened in March 2024 and officially opened in April 2024 in the old Breakers Korean barbecue space near the defunct Gwinnett Place Mall, and I-85 at Pleasant Hill Rd (exit 104). It's spacious, but can fill up quick. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and there were still plenty of open tables. However, by the time we left, shortly after 1pm, it was packed with people looking for tables. Someone jumped on our table as we were getting up to leave. This is not a sit-down restaurant. Instead, you order at one of two touchscreen kiosks at the entrance and then wait for your number to be called to pick up your food. Everything is self-serve, from condiments to hot broth. You also bus your own table. Here's what three of us got: B3. Heo [sic] Naengmyeon ($16.99) - spicy sweet potato starch noodles with raw fish (should be spelled "hoe") C3-B1. Naengmyeon and Yuk Jeon ($20.99) - cold sweet potato starch noodles and thinly sliced beef pancake C1-B1. Naengmyeon and Dwaeji Yang Nyum Gui ($18.99) - cold sweet potato starch noodles and grilled pork neck D4. Kimchi Son Mandu ($11.99) - handmade kimchi dumplings My wife and I love naengmyeon. We thought Naju's version was good, especially in this fast-casual format. To nitpick, the noodles stuck together and the ice melted too fast. Regardless, I found the noodles to be delicious, refreshing, and satisfying. The spicy version came with a small bowl of icy broth on the side. The raw fish, beef pancake, and grilled pork neck were all tasty and of decent quality. As for the handmade kimchi dumplings, they were legit. Big and filling. In addition to naengmyeon, Naju also offers a variety of Korean soups (e.g., seolleongtang - ox bone soup and gomtang - beef bone soup) and LA galbi (grilled short ribs). During our visit, the pickup counter was staffed by a bunch of ajummas (Korean middle-aged women), basically Korean lunch ladies. I'd come back. This place seems ideal for a quick stop for an easy and reliable Korean meal / comfort food.

I literally searched on Yelp for the closets ramen spot to me at that time, and Rakkan Ramen showed up. Here is my review: Parking was fine. They have a lot behind the little shops, but I was able to find a free spot up front. Location: SO confusing! I called them and the number listed is not for this location. The staff couldn't direct me, but a local showed me the way. It's actually located inside a place called "Sweet Octopus". Again, very confusing! It appears there are 3 restaurants in one. You can order inside of sweet octopus for rakkan ramen. The weirdest situation but it was clean inside and the staff did help me with picking out my food options. I got a sushi roll and a classic ramen. The food came out pretty fast but the taste was just okay. I was kinda shocked and disappointed. I added muscles to mine and they were disgusting. I am a regular ramen eater and a fan of muscles and these tasted like sewer water. The sushi was good so I would probably stick to different options on this menu. Would come back to try one of the different restaurants! I recommend trying for yourself :)

I do not feel as though downtown Duluth truly captures the amazing food scene of the city, but again, an old friend did like it enough to tell me about it. Inside was pretty spacious. High ceilings and bright. You have to go up front and order, and they'll give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. Pretty standard so far. It's not too loud, even with the music playing in the background, so not bad for hanging out with friends after the food is done, though we didn't. We were all pretty disappointed with our food. It wasn't bad, thankfully, it was just meh. We could've literally drove 5 minutes away for better, so we left as soon as we finished. The good thing is you get to choose what protein you want with your dish, which is nice. However, the chicken katsu here is thin. Also, the K-Fried chicken doesn't really mesh with the pasta. It's like a skewer on the side of your main dish. You can eat them separately and be happy enough. I was ok with the bulgogi, but I would've expected better from a Korean establishment. I haven't tried every single protein option, but I won't lie, tofu in pasta isn't the most appealing to me. For the main dishes, it was pretty bland, especially the omurice. You need the egg and the protein for flavor. The Schezwan pasta wasn't even spicy. At least the carbonara was creamy as it should be.

We found a restaurant not far from the matcha shop. It felt more like a Chinese takeout spot than a traditional sit-down restaurant, so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of decor. We decided to share everything we ordered. The first dish we tried was the Szechuan noodles. The flavor was excellent, but unfortunately, the dish arrived only lukewarm, as it appeared to have been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. Next, we ordered soup dumplings, but the restaurant accidentally brought out pan-seared dumplings instead. Thankfully, they let us keep them while they prepared our original order. The pan-seared dumplings were actually very good--piping hot and full of flavor. When the soup dumplings finally arrived, they were decent but didn't quite live up to the pan-seared version and lacked the same level of flavor. Finally, our Szechuan chicken arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy with a great spice profile that delivered the classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It was served with fried rice, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was good but not exceptional. The food had some strong points, especially the Szechuan chicken and pan-seared dumplings, but the restaurant ultimately felt more like a solid Chinese takeout spot than a destination dining experience.
