They let you select the spice level and have an add-on section with extra meat, egg, noodles, etc. Huge portions given the cost. Pop pot was chosen on a whim and there's no regrets on it. I ordered the Taiwanese spicy with noodles. Food was delicious and plentiful I had to take some home. The sauces also complemented the pot. My only gripe is you don't have control over the fire. Other places give you the tool to put it out or partially cover it but here you have to call someone to do so. It seems like extra work for them but I had to call them over because my broth was boiling over. This is a solid place for hot soup. It's great if you're craving hot pot but don't want the full all you can eat version. First off, your eyes are bigger than you stomach, these pots are pretty big! I think the perfect ratio is like 3 people and 2 pots, so 1.5 humans per pot. Pop pot offers a variety of different soups with toppings, so I feel like there is something for everyone which is great! In the actual soup itself they do a good job of giving you a bunch of different toppings from meat to veggies and the rice/noodles. The pot is extremely hot, I usually ask them to put out the fire pretty early since I don't like burnt soup either lol. I am a fan of the beef satay, Taiwanese spicy pot, and the Korean army. The service can definitely feel a little cold at first but perhaps it is because there are a lot of orders and only 2 servers when I went. But of course on to the food. I got the data beef and the Taiwanese spicy hotpot and they were absolutely amazing. The satay beef tasted authentic, bringing be back to my home kitchen where the flavor is almost exactly the same as my mother's home cooking. The ingredients such as the fish cakes and the blood rice cake are essential to any Taiwanese hot pot. One thing I do have to say is thay the add-ons seem a bit excessive in price. The amount of add on received seems a bit small and harsh. 3$ for 2 blood rice cakes that are about an inch long and 3/4 of a centimeter on both sides is interesting. Three stars because of service. Pop Pot closes at 10 PM on Saturdays. My friends and I arrived at 9. I'd understand their dismay if we came in 30 minutes to closing, but there was still a full hour. They also didn't answer the phone when I called twice about their hours. (Restaurant had three occupied tables so not like they were too busy to answer). Our arrivals were staggered, but the first friend who got there was immediately asked if he was ready to order as he sat down. As each person arrived, the same was asked right when we sat. It was clear they were trying to rush us to get out of the restaurant as soon as possible. Gave us one menu for a table of 5 and expected us to know what we wanted without giving us any time to review our choices. They'd groan or show resentment when we asked for napkins, water refills, and sauce refills. The four stars are for the food. I got the mild version of the Thai style. The broth was very flavorful, and the soup was very filling. This is not AYCE, so the protein, veggies, and starch already come cooking in the bowl. I used to come here before Covid, but this is my first time coming since 2020 and the quality does not disappoint. The interior was empty except for 1 other party despite it being 7 PM on a Saturday night. We got seated and served extremely quick and service throughout was exceptional. My girlfriend and I got the Taiwanese spicy and sukiyaki hotpot per the recommendation of the waitress. The sukiyaki has a sweeter brother while the Taiwanese has more of a tang with some sweetness. Each of the hotpot meals come with the option of white rice or glass noodle on top of what is already included in the hotpot. Overall, pop pot is still one of the staple hotpot places in Atlanta and barely scrapes a 5* review. It's in the same shopping center as Sweet Hut, so the parking lot was plentiful. 2. Service: the staff were all nice and patient while I changed my spice level 5 times. 3. Hot pot: I ordered the Taiwanese Spicy hot pot with 100% spice level. The broth was okay. If I compared this place to Twiwanese spicy hot pot at Hi-Pot in Doraville, I would choose Hi-Pot. It's a personal preference, but Pop Pot doesn't have enough veggies in the hot pot. The fire that they use is also really high which overcooks the food unless you tell them to come and shut it down. I didn't tell them to come quick enough so all my cabbage were super soft and mushy. I also used the side sauce at this place while I didn't need to at Hi-Pot because I think Hi-Pot is more flavorful. 4. Price: the hot pot itself ranges from $15-$20, but the lack of veggies made me order an extra $3 side of enoki mushroom. Overall, it's okay.. not the greatest to me. With a mild 30% spicy level, this pot was doable. Perhaps a medium 70% will make it tastier. There were plenty of fish ball and fish cake varieties to satisfy my hungry stomach. The sliced pork and napa cabbage added to the pot's diversity. Overall, I dug it. At the end, I felt pretty content. I wasn't at all by any means stuffed, just pretty content. I guess for those with a larger appetite, don't come here thinking you'd be stuffing your face out.
