It's not bad! The price is fair for what you get so there is value. The dishes are between ~$9-13 depending on what you order. The flavor is ok, I would say some dishes are better than others. Some were under seasoned and others are too salty. For example, the eggplant dish we ordered was lacking flavor. We normally just end up ordering the same thing but do step out of our comfort zone to try new dishes. Service and ambiance is normal, typical for what you would expect from a food court. read more

Yummy Garden is a Chinese restaurant located in the Great Wall Supermarket food court. It's one of the best Chinese food court restaurants, located inside an Asian grocery store or mall, that I've been to in metro Atlanta. It's authentic and has an extensive menu encompassing different regional Chinese cuisines such as Shanghai soup dumplings and Sichuan cumin lamb. Compared to a sit-down restaurant, the food tastes just as good and is sold at lower prices (sometimes, significantly lower). Yummy Garden is the first restaurant you'll see in the food court as you enter the supermarket from outside. Its menu can be overwhelming. There are over 100 items you can order. The majority of menu items are under $9 each. The main clientele are Chinese people. The main menu behind the counter is printed in Chinese text. Fortunately, there are paper menus at the counter with English translations. Also, there are pictures aplenty, which are super helpful. They serve xiaolongbao here (#2 on the menu) -- Chinese steamed soup dumplings. An order of 10 dumplings is a good deal at $4.75. Yummy Garden's soup dumplings are comparable to soup dumplings at other Atlanta restaurants such as Chef Liu and Northern China Eatery. They're tasty. To nitpick, Yummy Garden's bao has thicker flour skin, more meat, and less soup. The dumplings are served in a traditional bamboo basket (the same one used for steaming). Be gentle picking up the dumplings because you don't want to tear or puncture the skin, which causes the soup to drain out. Also note it takes the kitchen up to 10-15 minutes to prepare the soup dumplings. One of my favorite dishes is the cumin fish ($8.95). This is the same dish that is served at Sichuan restaurants like Tasty China, Cafe Q, and Chong Qing Hot Pot (Atlanta Chinatown Mall). Yummy Garden's version admirably stands up to all. This dish consists of lightly battered, fried fillets of fish, seasoned with salt, fine red chili power, Sichuan peppercorns, and subtly aromatic/fragrant seeds, and cooked with cilantro. It is mouthwateringly delicious. Order it. By default, it's a spicy dish, but you can request it non-spicy too. The "sizzling beef" (#39 on the menu) is another classic Sichuan dish. This dish comes with hearty pieces of beef, green onion, green bell pepper, and plenty of red chili peppers. If you like spicy food, this dish can bring the heat. Like the cumin fish, you can request this dish in non-spicy form as well. Marinated pig ears are sold here for $4.25 a box. You can get these at other restaurants at Great Wall and the Great Wall market itself. These are served in a prepackaged disposable plastic container. This is an appetizer that's typically served cold or at room temperature. I enjoy it, but only in small quantities at a time. It's a little intense because the ears are soaked in a rich chili oil. This dish is best shared and I recommend it if you want to try something different. It's flavorful. The ears are sliced, oily, and the texture is somewhat tendony. If you want vegetables, you can get a plate of snow pea tips sauteed with garlic for only $6.50. Most Chinese restaurants charge $10+ for snow pea tips. Along with ong choy, these are my favorite Chinese vegetables. Another savory vegetable option is the leek pie (a.k.a. fried leek dumplings or fried leek pancakes). You can get 2 for $4.75. The portion size is generous. These pies taste exactly how they sound. A bunch of freshly chopped leaks are stuffed inside thin coats of batter and quickly fried. The pies are juicy and teeming with leeky goodness. You can pick up these pies and eat them with your hands. It's a lot of leeks, so you may want to add pepper, chili oil, or some other seasoning(s) to mix up the flavor. Other dishes you might consider trying include cumin lamb, salt and pepper squid, eggplant with minced pork, sweet and sour spare ribs, dried bean curd with chili, and Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce. Complimentary bowls of white rice are included with meals ordered here. There are also dispensers with complimentary cool water and hot tea. There's a TV behind the counter playing Chinese programs. When your food is ready, the staff will call out your order from behind the counter and you can go pick it up. Sometimes, if you are dining in and the staff knows where you are sitting, they will bring the food directly to you. After you finish your meal, you should return used trays and plates to the restaurant. Enjoy! read more

Yummy is situated inside of the GW supermarket. Upon entering, you'll find the stall just to the left of the entrance. During my visit, I had the xiao long bao and the beef roll. Both items were under $6-$7 and were ready within 10 minutes of ordering. The beef roll was nothing special and quite bland actually. The sliced meat had chunks of tendons throughout which was bothersome as they got stuck in between my teeth. Not sure if the sauce inside of the roll was supposed to be special or anything but it tasted like plain hoisin. I wouldn't order this sandwich again as it was somewhat average. The xiao long bao came with an order of 10 dumplings. They were a little smaller than some other places I've had but I can't complain because the price is very reasonable! Each dumpling had a fair amount of broth inside which is how xiao long bao should be. They also offer black vinegar which is the perfect pairing for the dumplings. You can find Yummy Garden at 2300 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096 in the Great Wall Supermarket about a block west of Satellite Blvd where it crosses Pleasant Hill Rd. I wrote about this during my last review for Best BBQ. When you walk into the supermarket Yummy Garden is the first business along the food court to the left. As mentioned previously, I met with a group of friends for a lunch UYE at the Great Wall Supermarket hosted by Tuong Vi P (https://www.yelp.com/events/duluth-uye-lets-do-saturday-lunch-great-wall-supermarket) - basically about a dozen of us sampled various treats from one of about 5-6 restaurants in the food court. This food court specializes in authentic Chinese cuisine so you'll see variations of dumplings, saucy dishes, pork belly and Chinese BBQ. The Saturday was extremely busy with a full market and full food court - it took some time to gather together the many tables we needed and people kept coming to join our group. At Yummy Garden, much like the other places in this exceptional food court, you order at the very busy counter and after 10-20 minutes you pick up your food. I did not order the food from Yummy Garden, focusing on Best BBQ towards the end. I did manage to sample two dishes: * Xiao Long Bao aka Chinese steamed soup dumplings. I thought these were delicious, with that little burst of liquid as you bite down. These are comparable to Chef Lui's and well worth trying. * Cumin Fish - this Sichuan dish is comparable to what you would get at the old Gu's or at Tasty' China and very delicious. They do a great job hear and it's super cheap. I'll definitely come back to Yummy Garden - the only thing that's difficult to get past are all the options - the menu is amazing (it makes me wonder if the English version is different from the Chinese though). Yummy Garden is the first of the several restaurants lining the Great Wall Food Court. I usually overlook it since it's in the front. My mom and I ordered a couple dishes from Yummy Garden to add to our family style meal. We ordered from this booth after perusing all the other shops: #25 - Spicy Clams - not sure if this is the proper translation of 辣炒花蛤. We were surprised by the amount of clams we got for $8.95. A little spicy for sure, but not overly so to be inedible or tongue numbing. Tasty dish. We also got a garlic sautéed spinach. Standard. Overall, a solid Chinese storefront. Helps to be able to speak and read Mandarin. Our two dishes came out to be about $15-16, I believe. I want to try their 梅乾扣肉 next time, because the one we ordered from Humble House was not very good. read more

This restaurant is locater within the grocery store. We spotted it yesterday on our hunt for Chinese dumpling supplies. So today, on our way out of town we stopped off for lunch. We were very happy to enjoy authentic Chinese food. I strongly recommend Yummy Garden for a meal even if it is out of the way. They seem to not have any issue for our requests yo make our selections spicier. Speaking Chinese may have helped in that which I have my wife to thank, I unfortunately can not speak it yet. Paid $10 for spicy fish soup hot pot. I like the price. I've had better fish hot pot but not at this price. It took a good 15 min for it to come out but it was worth it. I was cold and wanted something warm. There were decent fish portions and the bowl was pretty large and filled. The soup itself was very thick and oily. The spice level was perfect for me but a little to hot for my friend. It came with a bowl of rice. Would I come here again? Sure. Not bad! I was looking for something filling and as I found myself in the food court of Great wall (where Yummy Garden is located...in the food court near the Great Wall entrance), I had this need for twice cooked pork, and fortunately, Yummy Garden had what I needed. I ordered the Twice cooked pork meal ($8.95), which comes with several juicy strips of, well, twice cooked pork, which were nice strips of pork that were tender, thin and not so chewy, along with a gang of peppers, which definitely gives this dish some kick, so be careful to all those who don't like a little heat. In addition to the peppers were onions, some garlic, and a few "don't know what that is" veggies, but married all together = pretty good. The amount of food you get can easily stretch over a couple of meals too. Seating can be hard to come by, since this is a food court and space is shared, so if you find an open spot, don't dilly dally! Parking is not nearly as bad as the seating situation, as the Great wall lot is pretty huge. At the end of the day, Yummy Garden does exactly what it's supposed to, and gives you decent food, decent serving, and good flavor for under 10 bucks (about that, there's a $10 minimum to use credit, so either plan to buy a soda with your meal, or bring cash). This establishment is located within the food court of the Great Wall Grocery Store. It serves mostly authentic northern Chinese dishes. Because it's located in a food court, there's no ambiance so to speak....so don't expect much in that department. You order at the counter and when the food is ready, the staff would call out - not by order number nor your name, but the name of the dishes. So, remember what you ordered. Although I only ordered three simple dishes, I waited 30 minutes for the food - definitely point deduction there. As for the food, I have mixed feeling. Here is what I had and how each dish fare: Mini Pork Bun - OK, this is the "official" name in the menu, but what it really is soup dumpling a.k.a Xiao Long Bao. I didn't quite like this dish. The soup was literally sweet. I don't mean natural sweetness from the ingredients (think seafood or starchy food), but probably from added sugar. Also, The staff placed the dumpling to close to each other that some were sticking together. It's inevitable that some skin would be ripped during the separation, loosing the soup inside. 3 Star. Pork Bun - While the flavor of the filling is good, the bun itself is not. Bun is too thick and dry, and the texture was too rough. 3 Star. Peking Pork Pancake - my favorite dish of the night. It's literally minced pork stuffed between slices of pancake. I enjoy the floury taste of the pancake - I know it sounds weird, but it reminds me of the taste of my childhood comfort food - Roti Paratha. Overall, not a bad place to get affordable, authentic Chinese food. Visited this place 3 times so far when we get that chinese food craving. It's the first vendor you see when you arrive at the food court area inside the Great Wall Supermarket. Their menu is located on the wall behind the counter, on the cashier counter, and some signage on the right; they have that much food. It's also helpful that there are pictures with their names. Here's what we've ordered so far: Fried leek pie - very tasty, the dough is nice and chewy Xiaolongbao - thick skin, less soup, more meat (needs to be eaten fast or it will get cold and stick to the bottom) #13 Braised Pork and Tofu - Very rich, fatty and flavorful. First bites were amazing. Reminded BuBee of Cravings in Champaign. We couldn't finish it - partially due to quantity and partially due to feeling overloaded with richness/fattiness. Beef Roll - Not very good. Was served cold, beef was very dry/overcooked. First non-fresh tasting dish from Yummy Garden. We thought it tasted alright after heating it back up in the microwave the next day. Chinese Burger - Very good! Inside was chopped pork belly, cilantro, and diced jalapeno pepper. Some bites were a bit spicier than others. I liked the bun part more than my bf. Salt and Pepper Squid - definitely Yummy Yummy! Freshly crispy and not overcooked squid! Very pleasant amount of saltiness. Portion was larger than expected, but we decided it was better to eat it fresh instead of having leftovers. I loved the crispy garlic pieces too! After ordering, you wait near their counter to receive your orders. There's self-served water and hot tea available on the left side of the counter. Most of their dishes are family style portioned. Yummy Garden is right next to the bathrooms when you walk into Great Wall. It sounds unappealing, I know, but that doesn't matter because the food is great! There is limited seating but I'm sure you can sit elsewhere. Just be sure to check back to see if your food is ready or not. I came solely for the soup dumplings and it took 15 minutes for the dumplings because they're being made fresh :) Their card minimum is $10 and soup dumplings are about $4 so be prepared to buy an extra helping of dumplings or another dish. To be honest, I haven't tried their other dishes but it looks good! And the menu is huge so you already know I'm gonna go back to try the menu. More to come in the future! The Ladies at the counter are all very nice and helpful since we don't speak Mandarin.They are also very kind to special needs with how they cook. Another restaurant we hit up which was located inside the Great Wall Supermarket (Chinese Target). Here's what we ordered. Leek Pancake: Tasty and really light in flavor. I think this came with a dipping sauce (or we used one from another dish) and we enjoyed the combo of the pancake and the sauce. Cumin Chicken w/bone: Or so I think it's called. This was very flavorful, but it was sweet. I did not expect this. I expected it to be spicy and numbing. Instead it was coated in cumin seeds and a sweetish sort of sauce. I'm not sure I'd rush to order it again since I don't like sweet chicken, but it was quite tasty. Service: Aside from the initial confusion when I ordered (This may be my fault for being indecisive at the beginning) they were super nice. They brought the food to us (we were sitting right in front of the counter) and even got us bowls of white rice and brought that to the table. For a counter service meal, this is amazing. I have eaten at full service Chinese restaurants where they aren't this nice. Ambiance: This is inside a Chinese supermarket that is inside an old target. It's run down and frankly, it kind of smells (near the garbage and restrooms I think). But for whatever reason, that made it more enjoyable. Maybe it's my time in SF where the best Chinese food was at dives and dirty little food stalls but this just brings back memories of good Chinese food and I feel a sense of comfort due to it. Flavors were middling but everything we ordered was insanely oily with cooking oil. So much oil that the bland leek pancakes we had were translucent and also flavorless, like eating greasy, thick wonton wrappers. The beef dish I had was so oily I couldn't taste either the beef or the brown colored sauce it was swimming in. Have to say it has to be the most unnecessarily oil-drenched food I have yet to encounter, anywhere, and I've eaten a lot of crappy Chinese food over the last 50 years. Music was loud and I thought the items were about 20 per cent over-priced across the board from my experience . The extra money they take in is used for the color printed menus , new signage and interior decor I suppose, definitely not on the food they are selling. Service was okay but there were no condiments on the table and the water glasses were tiny. The only dish we order is their Tea smoked duck. We have been ordering half of a duck for several consecutive weekends. There was only one time that the pieces look like they are from the same duck cut. All the other times, the pieces are scattered around the box like they have been put together from several ducks. Either their ducks are small in size or they never give enough portion. But since the duck tasted indeed flavorful, I let it pass. But today, the duck pieces look like usual...scattered around the box and when we came home. One of the pieces had several cooked white rice buried inside the rib case area. This convinced me that they very likely saved leftovers from other customers and put together my box. I called the vendor. Even they denied it as I would expect, I got my refund back. Yummy is as close as I have found to those subterranean food courts (yum!) that we stumbled upon in our culinary journey. Holy batman! Sodium overload - our usual humble house was closed so we thought we would try yummy garden. We ordered steamed dumplings, eggplant with pork and cumin beef. It's hard to pick up your order when your number is called out in Chinese and you don't speak a lick of Mandarin. And when you ask if it is your order, they make you feel as you are a bother. You have a crowd of people gathering around trying to figure out if it's their order. The meat in the steamed dumpling tasted a little off, the cumin beef was tough and fatty and the accompanying veggies were not cooked long enough. The dish was salty. But nothing compared to the eggplant. My goodness, it was so salty and my oily. We didn't finish any of the dishes and threw more than half of each dish away. Waste of my money and we won't go back. Even the hot tea couldn't help quench my thirst. We went looking for a sweet drink after dinner. read more
