    Pork potstickers
    Krystal N.

The only good thing we had was the pork potstickers. The skin was thin and perfectly chewy, and the filling was abundant and flavorful. Chairman mao's pork is supposed to be made with the fatty cuts - theirs was almost all lean dry cuts. The egg rolls are a skip - big and crispy but filling is eh. Service took a long time so don't try to come if you have a short lunch break.

The ambiance was very relaxing. The space was very elegant and inviting. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. The food was simply amazing Every dish wasn't just spicy, there was a ton of complex, delicious flavors. Everything was so good; a second serving of rice was definitely a must, there is an extra $1 charge per bowl. ----------------- 红油牛筋 C9. Coriander Beef Tendon in Chili Sauce- It is a cold dish and it was coated in a delicious chili oil. A little tongue numbing for those who cannot handle spice. 沸腾鱼 D1. Boiled Fish Fillet with Ash Powder and Chili- The filet was so smooth and soft. This dish was not spicy at all. 鱼香茄子 G12. Eggplant with Garlic Sauce- The eggplant was one of the most complex dishes. Not as spicy either, so umami!! The eggplant was so tender!

I would say it's good. It's not great and it's no where near terrible. We used to come here years ago when it was another name and the menu was very different and loved it. I have been looking to try it, but finally went tonight. I would say most of the menu is more authentic cuisine with things I would never dare try, and a small section in the front of more American style meals, but if you want rice, you have to pay extra because it doesn't come with your meal. I ordered the Mongolian Shrimp and it was good. Nothing wrong with it except shrimp was overcooked and had tails still on and there was absolutely nothing else in it except for onions, scallions, and sauce. Not much flavor except, well, the onions. My husband had basically Cashew Chicken and really enjoyed it. It's big and clean inside with pleasant music playing and service was fine, with the exception of my meal being brought out a solid 5 minutes before my husband's. Overall, not bad, but not as good as the last place was years ago.

Masterpiece is an authentic Szechuan Chinese restaurant in Johns Creek and offers a plethora of your standard Chinese dishes like sesame chicken, kung pao etc. as well as more unique dishes like duck blood stew, pig's feet, tripe and more. My family and I came to celebrate Chinese New Year of the rabbit and decided to stick with the classics as we weren't feeling particularly adventurous that day. We shared the: Sesame chicken 5/5 plump and juicy chicken with a side of fresh broccoli Shrimp with mixed veg 5/5 family favorite with perfect seasoning Sizzling beef with white rice 5/5 my personal favorite! Was delivered to the table hot and sizzling. Delicious marinade. Wonton Soup 3/5 had a beef filling and low on broth. Not a traditional wonton. Overall, had a great dining experience although the service could use some improvement. We had 5 different servers at our table and it was confusing. Come try the food, however!

First off, this is the "same" Masterpiece that's on Buford Hwy. I don't understand when one is closed and when the other one is open. We live near the JC one but drove all the way Buford Hwy to find that one closed then drove back to JC and found this one open. I'm not sure how their schedule works, it's not listed on their schedule and not worth the effort. Food is so overpriced and overly numbing with more MSG than I can handle (I can eat pretty numbing but this is too much). We ordered one dish that comes with intestines and some other things ($30) but it was mostly spam. For $30??? Rice is not complimentary and costs $1/bowl. They just ask you if you want rice and will not tell you it costs $1/bowl. Their kitchen is also extremely slow. If you want to add dishes later, they'll tell you it'll take forever and that it's better to order all at once. My family and I visited when there was a tropical storm and rain was leaking through the roof where my dad was sitting. They didn't move us to a different table and just said no big deal basically. There was a giant puddle near him causing a big safety issue. Also feel like some raindrops fell into our food.

I was so excited to see that a new Chinese restaurant had opened in this spot (since I had frequented the Chinese restaurant that was located here before, which was different). We visited on a Sunday evening, and the restaurant was fairly empty - service was prompt. The interior is classy and spacious. The restaurant is quite large with a full bar as well. The menu was expansive and had a Sichuan influence. For food, we ordered: A1 Szechuan Bean Jelly (川北凉粉), G12 Eggplant with Garlic Sauce (鱼香茄子), D10 Fish Fillet w. Pickled Cabbage & Chili (酸菜鱼), F29 Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper (铁板黑椒牛). Note that rice was $1 per bowl rather than a family-style bowl. We also got a pot of chrysanthemum tea. The jelly was a great appetizer and had a subtle mala and vinegar flavor. I often order eggplant at Chinese restaurants, and we all thought that this was the best garlic eggplant we've ever had. The garlic flavor was strong, and the sauce was delicious but not oily. I loved that it had a good balance of salty and sweet. Another favorite was the pickled fish soup. The serving was large (could feed 4-5 people), and the fish was fresh. The beef was just okay - I couldn't really taste the black pepper, but it was otherwise cooked well. Overall, we all thought that this was a delicious, authentic meal at a good price point and with a nice ambience. Looking forward to bringing our friends here in the future!

I don't know why there are lower ratings for this place. 1. The building is beautiful. Easy to access and park. Super new and pretty inside. Gorgeous decorations. 2. All staff was so nice and wanted to help us. They even brought us complimentary hot and sour soup. 3. The food was delicious and amazing. Lots of spicy but as expected. And so many options. Can't wait to go back.

I've been here several times, the food is well prepared and very authentic Chinese Sichuan flavor, we love the boiled fish filet and stir fried cauliflower, feels like coming back to home, good service and the waitress are nice and friendly, I will definitely come back again!

I've tried a variety of dishes over the years and they've been able to maintain great cooking consistency. Their dining room service used to be high-touch. They lost a couple older, but much more service oriented wait staffers over the years. Whenever you had lobster before, they would offer a new plate in exchange of your existing plate filled with discarded shells. Today, they couldn't care less. But, the biggest detraction now is that they have significantly reduced their portion sizing. It's been a short few months since I've dined in, but I was there this week and ordered a variety of dishes and was hugely DISAPPOINTED that most dishes were HALF-SIZED compared to last year. IT WAS SHOCKING. The menu prices have always been premium pricing but it's even more so today when shrinkflation showed up this past week. It was really a let down because they have raised prices over the years but at least kept the sizing fairly consistent. I was okay paying higher prices for good portions and good service, but that equation simply doesn't add up anymore.

I ordered 2 dishes to go (Mama's Chicken, and Bamboo + Pork) for my parents and me. I come to pick up the foods at the counter and behold, they give me 2 tiny boxes of white steam rice. I was like, can you give me a bigger container than the tiny one you got. He said same tiny container. I was like can I just a one big one for $2. He said No, $2 for each tiny container. I was like seriously? I just spent $35 with them and I can't even get enough rice for me and my parents. Never in my years, have I ever had an issue about getting extra rice for any restaurant. This has got to be the cheapest restaurant in the world. I finally told the guy, don't worry about it. I didn't want to pay $4 extra for tiny containers or rice. They lost a long time customer for a such little dollars. Its the principle and they provided horrible customer service. I will not be coming back and I highly suggest in not giving these people any business especially on how cheap they are. I provided a photo of the rice containers that come with each entree. Nothing sucks more than having entrees and not enough rice to eat it with. Their entrees lack portions as their portions have gotten alot smaller as well.

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

It wasn't busy for a Sunday lunch but it's in a very tucked away location on Lakefield Drive. We ordered the beef noodle soup, gravy noodles, potstickers, XLB, and egg tarts. While presentation was great everything fell short except for the XLB and egg tarts. I do like that there is an option for a small portion of noodles - great if you want room to try other dishes. Noodles themselves were nice and chewy but the flavor and thickness of the broths felt like I was eating ramen instead of Chinese or Taiwanese noodle soups. Meats were tender. The gravy noodles had fish, pork, and duck in it and had too many mixes of flavors for us. The potstickers were large but too oily and didn't have much flavor inside. XLB were standard - I thought they were fine but could have used some more soup. Egg tarts were also flaky and good as expected. The waitress said be careful as they were hot from the oven but I couldn't wait since I love dessert. It was cold in the center lol. Otherwise flavor was great.
