3/17/24 update. I been a regular customer of this place for years but after today, I will be coming back nor do I recommend anybody coming here. I ordered 2 dishes to go (Mama's Chicken, and Bamboo + Pork) for my parents and me. I come to pick up the foods at the counter and behold, they give me 2 tiny boxes of white steam rice. No problem, so I asked for extra white rice. The front counter guy said it's an extra $1. I am like sure, he was then no, it's $2 extra. I was like, can you give me a bigger container than the tiny one you got. He said same tiny container. I was like can I just a one big one for $2. He said No, $2 for each tiny container. I was like seriously? I just spent $35 with them and I can't even get enough rice for me and my parents. Never in my years, have I ever had an issue about getting extra rice for any restaurant. This has got to be the cheapest restaurant in the world. I finally told the guy, don't worry about it. I didn't want to pay $4 extra for tiny containers or rice. They lost a long time customer for a such little dollars. Its the principle and they provided horrible customer service. I will not be coming back and I highly suggest in not giving these people any business especially on how cheap they are. I provided a photo of the rice containers that come with each entree. Came for lunch in a weekend and I would say we waited pretty long for the food. We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, spicy seafood noddles and the spicy chicken. The beef noodles were great and loaded with beef! The seafood noodles were good too, the soup was spicy and had a great smoky flavor. The chicken was flavorful and not too spicy. Overall, enjoyed the food here but wish the service was friendlier. Definitely don't expect the best service since this is a food court but the cashier seemed very reluctant to give us bowls to share the food. There were three of us and she only gave us one bowl and we asked for two more, but she stated "I already gave you one." Anyways, will probably opt for takeout next time instead. read more

After some time away, I returned to this hidden gem for some authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food. The sweet and sour pork is really good and plentiful. You get fried pieces of pork with peppers, onion, carrots and pickles, yes PICKLES, which are in a seperate cup. There is also white rice and the sweet and sour sauce on the side For their shrimp lo-meIn, also good, you get medium-sized shrimp, noodles and vegetables, also more pickles. Mama's Kitchen is in the food court in Super H Mart. I was hungry while shopping at the Super H Mart, so I decided to stop to eat in the food court before I started serious grocery shopping. There are other vendors in the same food court, but Mama's Kitchen menu caught my eye. Plus the friendly employee made eye contact with me and extended a warm greeting. Plus the odors of the food cooking in the kitchen were definitely the hook! The employee was so nice and patient with me, answering the questions that I had about the different items on the menu. The same employee was also quick and efficient, and was able to simultaneously answer my questions, call out the orders to be picked up by other customers, and get other take out orders packaged up. I ordered the beef stew noodle soup at the counter and sat at a nearby table. My bowl was ready within 10 minutes, and the friendly employee called me over to pick up the tray with my soup. The soup gave off a great aroma. There were nice tender chunks of beef in the soup, which had bok choy, green onions and thick noodles that had a great chew. The broth had a strong beef flavor. Although it didn't look like it, the soup portion was quite large, and I was absolutely full, and I didn't have room to drink all of the liquid. Overall, I loved this soup and would definitely order it again. This was my first visit to this part of Duluth, and I look forward to trying other menu items at Mama's Kitchen. read more

This is found in the cafeteria/food hall section of the Johns Creek H-Mart. Came here to eat with a friend on my visit back home. I was suprised she spoke so highly of a food court restaurant. An even bigger surprise was that they advertise themselves as a Taiwanese restaurant. However, after looking at the menu and ordering a few dishes, it does have other dishes (eg. Szechuan style) so maybe not pure Taiwanese. Things we got: tofu with salted egg roe, garlic eggplant, fried sweet bun with condense milk, twice cooked pork. Tofu with salted egg roe: PROS: - great portion. HUGE. - good amount of sauce with the tofu, nice balance. - not overly salty - great over rice CONS: - sauce was a little too corn-starchy for me. It was super super thick. Garlic eggplant PROS: - freshly hot and right off the stove - good amount of garlic, not overwhelming. Can barely taste it sometimes. - v nice amount of eggplant, generous portions CONS: - a bit on the oily and salty end but to be fair, eggplant requires a lot of oil to cook otherwise it sticks to the pan. Fried sweet bun (mantou) with condensed milk: dessert! PROS: - fantastic little appetizer - decent portion (four or six pieces of bun) CONS: - gets cold fast in winter, eat it quick! Twice cooked pork (hui guo rou) PROS: - fantastic portion, enough to take home with the garlic eggplant as well - meat was not dried out as it is double cooked (literally means "return to pan meat") - not overly salty - nice balance with other mixed vegetables in the dish CONS: - on the oily side so not for the healthy eaters. Also it's pork belly so def got the fat coming here. Would I come again? Probably if my friend wanted to eat here. I thought it was great for the price though. My parents had mentioned it was pretty good but a bit heavy on the msg side (I can't really tell TOO much of a difference unless it's exceedingly strong and salty and I'm downing a ton of water). The beef noodle soups were about $10 and have loads of beef in them. We could have shared probably one soup is probably more than enough for one person. If you're splitting two and are moderately hungry probably a noodle soup and appetizer or side. The soup base was good and different, Taiwanese style. The noodles had a nice substantial chewy texture. It's probably one of the best noodles I've had in the Atlanta area. The pork belly over rice was so rich in flavor and filling alone even if I hadn't shared the soups and I believe it was like 5 or 6 dollars so very cheap. Well, I don't know who Mama is but she SHO CAN COOK!!!! They are the next to the last food stall inside the Super H Mart in Duluth. There are several other restaurants on the row but today Mama got my business. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and it was really good! It took about 20 minutes to get my dish but considering that it was cooked to order and FRESH, that was completely fine. You get A LOT of food, enough for two people and under $14.00. Plenty to share, if you're the sharing kind that is. It comes in parts; the fried pork with vegetables, the sauce, white rice and what appear to be cucumbers but more like pickles. Goes pretty far here and the overall service regarding the handling, the ambiance (despite the noisy setting in a supermarket), and the food is a good mix if you get washed out by the crispness and saltiness of the sliced chicken easily like me. The soup serves as a complement to the chicken as salty and fried foods warrant the need to drink, which the soup, along with the contents such as noodles, bok choy, and the eggs and onion slices make it an ideal meal for a lunch combo. For some reason, either early (they open at 10, ot late if I wander in around 8, all the other food court places are closed. No worries because I love neromen, or beef noodle soup. They package it up and its big enough that I can get two breakfast size noodle soups when I recoil it at home. Its pretty standard, good amount of meat and and baby boy choy, and comes with delicious kimchi-like cucumbers. Can't go wrong. I came in wanting Jjambong, but luckily they have that too. Spicy seafood noodle soup. Same noodles as the neromen, thin and round, with quite authentic broth. Very little seafood, but at enough for my jjambong fix. Again, enough for two breakfasts. Finally I tried their shtimp chow mein, which also happens to be the same noodles. Keep it simple. :) great flavor and portion size, and better with their hot sauce. Lots of parking since this restaurant is inside the Johns Creek Hmart. We went on a weekday evening for dinner, it was very empty and most of the other restaurants were closed. We ordered a minced pork over rice, spicy seafood noodle soup, fried bread with condensed milk, and 2 drinks. Minced pork over rice: there is a good proportion of meat, rice and sauce. But it does get a bit heavy after eating half - it would have been great if there was a pickled dish or something acidic to pair it with. I did ask for their chili sauce, but it was not spicy. Spicy seafood noodle soup: tasted perfect! Nice selection of seafood, the shrimp is actually big enough that you can see it. Seasoning is spot on and provides a good level of spiciness (it's spicy but you can still enjoy the soup). Only thing was the clam tasted a bit sus. It did come with a free pickled cucumber that I ate with the rice dish instead. Fried bread: a very light sweetness to it. If you want extra sweet then you can deep it in the condensed milk. Personally I ate just the bread and loved it. Definitely eat it while it is hot! I did appreciate the fact that they brought this out after we were almost done with our entrees. Would eat here again and try other dishes. Oh but I recommend bringing a light jacket, it is cold inside. read more

Chicken nuggets were ok, fried chicken over rice included broccoli which is not your typical veggie and the chicken itself needed more seasoning. I would recommend not getting these two. They have some pictures of the dishes with English, but they also have some dishes written in Chinese. I ordered the Taiwanese pork chop rice (#9). The portions were huge! Normally you only get one large piece of pork chop, but I had two! There was also a small bowl of soup and some vegetables and corn. The pork chop was decent with white pepper flavoring (how lots of Taiwanese food are flavored - yum!). What was super awesome was that my dish was only $7.99 and the portion was huge! They have a $8 minimum for credit cards, but they're not too strict if you're few cents off. read more

I ordered their most popular dish, taiwanese stew pork rice. having eaten at the taiwanese Ping place in Duluth and Ah-Ma in Atlanta, I think their food didn't blew my expectations. The dish was lacking in chunk of pork that you will normally find at other places. There are corn from a can, broccoli, rice, and pork. Not really much to say, just so so. Have gotten food here 6 times and every time we get more impressed and thankful for this location. What a true great place to go.

The first time we are here we were blown away. Fresh! Good portions! Great taste. Now every time we've ordered there's been a problem. The food doesn't taste fresh as before. It tastes like all the other Chinese restaurants. Precooked and sitting for a while. The chicken has little flavor and tastes like pure oil.. don't know what changed but it's definitely different. I usually order my dishes white meat. Never had a problem doing so in the past. There's an up charge which I am happy to pay. Now it seems that's a problem. When I get home even though I asked for white meat it's thigh meat. I guess the chef thinks that is white meat? We've been eating from here for about 2 years. For the last year or so it's been getting worst and worst. I hate leaving this bad review because I really like this place. I am hoping this helps them bring their standard back up. This place has one of the best fried pork chop rice plates that I've ever had. A generous serving of pork (thick cuts of meat) with a flavorful breading. Pork stayed juicy and hot after 25-30 minutes. We also had the beef noodle soup, which was great. The cashier lady was very friendly and profusely apologized for the brief 25 minute wait for the food to come out (several people getting takeout orders around 11:30 am on a Saturday). Great to find a Taiwanese place so easily accessible in the Alpharetta area. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly. One look at the menu and I already knew it wasn't engine Taiwanese food but I wasn't really expecting it to be. I mean it was owned by Korean people so it's probably their take on it. Just came to the food court to grab some food and I saw this place and thought, I'll grab some Taiwan "style" of food! Some items on the menu looked like it was made for a more Americanized experience. I don't remember the name but it was like rice with an orange chicken looking thing. That is not Taiwanese. Not even real Chinese lol. On to the food: I ordered the classic beef noodle soup and when it came out it was a much lighter color broth than it normally is. Instead of a dark reddish black broth, it was a light brown. The flavor was pretty similar but nowhere near as rich as it could or should be. It did remind of of Beef Noodle Soup and that's just what I wanted at the time. For a price of 7.60 something it was totally worth. The noodles were so QQ(a Taiwanese or Chinese form of measuring how chewy a noodle is). My fav part was definitely the noodles and you get SO much in it too. I was pleasantly surprised. I left quite stuffed! Overall this place isn't a bad find for the area and you get great bang for your buck. If I were to rate on authenticity this place would've failed miserably. But for the price and pretty decent taste of the food, it's pretty good if you ask me-- just come expecting real Taiwanese food and you'll be good. read more
