Tableside bulgogi jajangmyun Do you love a good lunch special? I visited this spot near my house specifically for their underrated lunch menu that features 2 person lunch sets with tableside bulgogi loaded black bean sauce noodles 불고기 짜장면. This is enough for more than 4 people! The sets also includes your choice of sweet sour pork or chicken. If you haven't tried classic Korean-Chinese food with an innovative twist, you are missing out! Casual atmosphere and service.

This restaurant does Chinese/Korean food - checked it out after hearing good stuff from my Instagram feed. My 1st visit pretty good, 2nd visit disappointing. They do lunch specials on Sat/Sun too which is a plus (10:30am - 3:30pm). SEAFOOD JJA JANG MYUN - $13.99 lol I can't even recall what seafood was included - I assume shrimp & squid. All I remember was the heaping sauce loaded w/ chopped onions. And a fried egg which I'd never seen before as a topping for this dish. Tasted good - although leftovers not so great b/c the sauce felt more watery. Complimentary banchan included daikon and radish kimchi. Friendly service. My next visit had a different vibe re: service level - came w/ two friends, ordered 3 dishes to share, felt rushed to finish our lunch (even though there were empty tables), and the female servers kept staring our way ... maybe our conversation was so interesting?? Not friendly. COMPLIMENTARY BANCHAN We got daikon, radish kimchi, and white onions w/ black bean sauce. JJAM PONG ("SPICY PREMIUM SEAFOOD SOUP") Overall not bad. Seafood included 2 shrimp, 3 mussels, and squid. Noodles al dente. SPICY JAPCHAE ("SHREDDED PORK W/ KOREAN PEPPER") - $24 Pretty good - interesting b/c it's called japchae but no noodles. Nice smoky stir fry flavor. KAN POONGI ("HOT BRAISED CHICKEN") - $21 (dinner portion) Good crunch but super vinegary flavor which was unusual for this dish. We decided we wouldn't come again. Sorry!

We asked for Crispy or firmly fried tofuand the sauce was good, but it came out quite soft. The Chinese drink was excellent and the jajangmyun (black bean sauce and noodles) were good and spicy. Plenty of kimchi to go around and loved the spinning table with a button to summon the server. Excellent service by them. The crispy rice soup appetizer was good and the sweet and sour pork was very unique.

Came in tonight for a usual dinner but tonight Chef Wong came up with a special that we tried out. It's insanely tasty! Two pieces of sliced eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste- very much like shrimp toast but no bread, not deep fried (pan fried), and sliced cucumbers with a sauce based with oyster sauce. This dish is going to be fantastic once it hits the menu. Can't wait to have this again, tender, flavorful, and sweet/salty. Thanks to Chef Wong for another great meal!

A tasty Korean Chinese restaurant! Chef Wong is nestled near some busy Asian shopping centers, which makes it a convenient option. There was lots of parking available. We came here on a weekend night, and it was not too busy. We ordered the Mongolian beef, spicy seafood noodle soup, sweet and sour pork, and hot braised chicken. The pork and chicken dishes were my favorite. They were perfectly crispy without too much oil or batter. The seafood noodle soup was tasty, but had a weird smell (potentially fish sauce). Service was okay, as we had to flag down the waitress a few times despite there not being many tables. The interior was cozy, with several tables and booths. The price point was average for the area. I would also note the restaurant itself is more Korean than Chinese (ex: menu in Korean), despite the name.

We like getting the 짜장면 here; specifically, the large sized seafood black bean noodles. Things you should know: I. PARKING Chef Wong Chinese Restaurant is in the Esplanade Place Shopping Plaza and shares a public parking lot with the adjacent businesses. There's always a free, available space. II. SERVICE Friendly and accommodating III. QUALITY The black bean sauce is oily and plentiful. They aren't shy about having a fair amount of onion in the stir-fried jajangmyeon mixture. Before you order, they serve banchan ~ just pickled radish, onion, and kimchi. We didn't touch the kimchi.. it was way too sour and old. IV. CAPACITY Fair amount of available seating for a Sunday at lunch hours.

We searched for Chinese Korean food and found very few options open on a Tuesday. Chef Wong's restaurant happened to be behind Jeju Sauna where we were coming from, so we decided to stop in. The food was DELICIOUS. We've honestly tried many Korean Chinese restaurants because it's our favorite food and this one topped our expectations! Definitely a hidden gem in Duluth! We tried jjajang bap (black bean sauce with fried rice), fried dumplings (mandu), jjajang myun (black bean sauce with noodles) and tangsuyook (fried breaded pork with sweet sauce) and everything was outstanding. The tangsuyook and black bean sauce were much better than what we are used to eating in Korean town in Dallas (Carrollton area). We hope to be back soon! The service was excellent and we even met the chef, who was very friendly and made sure everything was satisfactory. Last but not least, the portions were large and the prices were reasonable. The ambiance was perfect for a family meal.

I have been coming here for a while now, but today made me not want to come here anymore. The food wasn't what we usually get and at the end of the meal when we paid ($84 bill) they took the $100 bill and never came back. We waited there for a while and that's when we realized that they had actually auto tipped themself. I have never seen this done before. Didn't even bothered to bring the receipt with the change. I hope they realize they these are some bad business practices towards any clients, specially clients like us that used to come here often ("used to" because today will be our last day coming here).

We found a restaurant not far from the matcha shop. It felt more like a Chinese takeout spot than a traditional sit-down restaurant, so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of decor. We decided to share everything we ordered. The first dish we tried was the Szechuan noodles. The flavor was excellent, but unfortunately, the dish arrived only lukewarm, as it appeared to have been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. Next, we ordered soup dumplings, but the restaurant accidentally brought out pan-seared dumplings instead. Thankfully, they let us keep them while they prepared our original order. The pan-seared dumplings were actually very good--piping hot and full of flavor. When the soup dumplings finally arrived, they were decent but didn't quite live up to the pan-seared version and lacked the same level of flavor. Finally, our Szechuan chicken arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy with a great spice profile that delivered the classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It was served with fried rice, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was good but not exceptional. The food had some strong points, especially the Szechuan chicken and pan-seared dumplings, but the restaurant ultimately felt more like a solid Chinese takeout spot than a destination dining experience.

We were greeted quickly at both the door and table. For a dumpling house, there weren't that many options for dumplings. We order two types of dumplings, a noodle dish and an entree on recommendation of the staff. The pork soup dumplings were very soupy on the inside and had a good flavor. The pan fried bao dumplings were alright but morning to write home about; I thought the bun to filling ratio was good for a bao though. For noodles we got the house rice noodles. I typically don't order this but I thought it was really well done with a good ratio of ingredients and flavor. Lastly we ordered the sales egg pork ribs. They were cut to bite size pieces but that's deceptive since they were bone in. Some pieces were all bone and some all meat. While the flavor was good, some might call it dry and the cut made it difficult to eat. While the seasoning for all the dishes were flavorful, I thought the salt was a little heavy. Overall the restaurant was clean with a semi modern decor. The staff were all friendly and tried to be helpful throughout the visit. I'd give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.

Overall, we were impressed with their service and food preparation more than the food itself, all the dishes were good, but no dish stands out to my expectations for a Michelin Bib Gourmand, so the price as well. Here was our experience: Appetizer-Signature Salted Chicken: the skin was crispy; we ordered Steamed Pork Dumplings outside of regular menu, it's so so; main dish - Mapo Tofu W. Minced Pork: taste good, tofu was very soft; Stir-Fried Pork Belly with Green Pepper: pork part was good, pepper was on the raw side, not matching the pork; soup - Tofu and Veggies Duck bone Soup: taste diluted with more water; Desert - Peach Gummies with Tremella: cold and smooth. I feel like to give 3 and half stars, but 4 stars anyway.
