Everything was pretty much so good!

This spot is truly memorable as mostly everything that we ordered tasted so good! Ironically enough, the Peking Duck was my least favorite but the table-side duck carving was awesome to watch. My absolute favorite was the Jellyfish Mixed w/ Chicken- such a beautiful presentation with a lovely balance of fresh flavors. Mind you, this is a cold dish, but still delicious. Everything else was pretty much super delicious as well, Loved their spicy potatoes. Also, their fried rice is very good! We were lucky enough to eat the egg tarts fresh out of the oven, and they tasted so authentic- just like how it is in HK. I look forward to coming back again :)

Very popular and said to be the go to place for Peking duck in Georgia. If that's the case, I'm happy enough. It's not NY, but it's good. The duck is nice and fatty with crisp skin. I can see why this place is recommended. We got the duck 2 ways and opted for soup. The soup has ginger which helps cut the rich fattiness of the duck, and it's great as a soup because ginger itself has a warming/hot feel to it. Outside of the duck, with 2 large menus, it was hard to decide what else to order. They have many options with pictures, and it all looked so good! I didn't personally choose anything I ate, but everything tasted nice. The only thing I have of note is that the tofu from their A104 crispy tofu with salt and pepper pork ribs could be done better. The breading for the tofu was a lot and not crispy. Flavor was good though. They have private rooms for parties that would prefer that, but they stick out from the rest of the dining room. The exterior of those rooms don't match the interior of the rest of the place probably because it was an afterthought addition that wasn't renovated very well.

This is a place that my sister and her family and friends would visit regularly. I was really surprised by the low rating. Take it from an Asian that this is a fantastic restaurant. Many dishes to choose from and time to first dish was very good despite a busy evening. Yes - 2 huge menus; one for those who love spicy dishes, one for regular folks like myself. On the very last page, there are dishes at the bottom of the page without photos. Don't skip them. Overall, there's wok hey in their cooking so I'm willing to bet their fried dishes will be good. Like everyone else, we had the Peking duck 2 ways. For the bones, we picked the stir fried version with ginger and green onions. The duck was carved by the table side and that's some good entertainment. Very skillful carving. Almost every piece has skin on it. We opted for the usual thin skin instead of the buns because we had other dishes. Sauce for the Peking duck was good too. Ideally, this dish can be served 3 ways. Skin only, meat only, and the bones. The Japanese tofu clay pot is tasty. The simple yau choy with garlic is full of wok hey. The vegetables could have been cut smaller. I thought the stalks were too big. Their version of walnut shrimp is perfect for me. I've tasted many versions of this dish. Most are too sweet for me. The shrimps are big and bouncy and doesn't not taste of sodium bicarbonate (secret of bouncy shrimps). The last dish we ordered was the seafood soup with fish maw. Again tasty and well balanced. Every dish was good. I would recommend chef's house Peking duck to anyone in the area. Best if you have a party of 4 or more.

Stopped by Sunday night for dinner and there was plenty of seats available. The Peking Duck was delicious and they cut it up at your table. The leftovers are then used to make another dish and you can choose from three options. It is a really good price! Also ordered Pork Intestine dish and the food was a little salty but good with jasmine tea and rice. The service was quick and didn't have to wait long for food.

Pretty good Chinese food! I came with a lot of friends, and they were really accommodating. The food came out really fast and it was all well made. I really enjoyed the Peking duck. Their other dishes are also really good, so I think this is a great place to eat some classic Chinese food.

Whenever we're craving real Chinese food -- whether it's comforting Cantonese dishes or bold, spicy Sichuan flavors -- Chef House is always our first thought. The food is consistently delicious, freshly made, and full of authentic flavor. Most of the servers have been working here for nearly a decade, and they always make us feel so welcome and at home. The portions are generous and perfect for sharing with family or friends. We always leave happy and satisfied -- this place truly never disappoints!

This is usually my go to place for Peking duck and for the second course I like the soup over the stir fry. Recently it's been too oily and I ordered some other dishes that look completely different from their picture menu and they didn't think it was wrong of them to advertise that way

Since its opening in June 2019, Yelp reviews for Chef's House Peking Duck have been all over the place. This restaurant is polarizing. I'm surprised this place has a three-star average rating after 110 reviews. Our experience was great. I thought the food was outstanding and service was very good. Maybe we went on a good night. Maybe a lot of the bad reviews were left by people who didn't know what to order. Maybe Chef's House has gotten better. I first learned about this place years ago when I happened to catch one of my friends' Instagram stories showing video of the restaurant's Peking Duck tableside preparation. While the tableside prep and dish presentation help make this place stand out from a lot of other Chinese restaurants in metro Atlanta, my friend thought the food tasted sub-par and left a two-star review. She did think the service was good though. A couple of my Taiwanese-American friends, whose food opinions I trust, like this place and bring their families here. It's one of their go-to spots. So, from just a couple examples of opinions of people I know, it's a mixed bag, consistent with the reviews. My opinion: Five stars. Definitely at least a solid four. Chef's House used to be Kung Fu Kitchen. Kung Fu Kitchen was open for only a brief period beginning in May 2018: https://bit.ly/41K3ee3. I noticed Yelper Wing K's photos of Chef's House, Kung Fu Kitchen, and Royal China (also in Duluth: https://bit.ly/433RKmq). The photos appear to connect them with the businesses in some way (e.g., owner, staff): https://bit.ly/3pKyoED. For example, they have original menu images and in-kitchen photos. It wouldn't surprise me if all three restaurants are connected in some way. The restaurant concepts look similar, from the nicer-looking interiors, furniture, and tableware to the big, glossy, picture menus that more resemble magazines than traditional restaurant menus (Food Terminal is the same way). I like the picture menus because they make ordering easy. This isn't your typical Cantonese joint. While Peking Duck is the draw, Chef's House is an "authentic" Chinese restaurant, like Royal China and others in the Atlanta area, with a big menu that offers much more including high-dollar items. They have two menus, in fact. I refer to them as "Menu A" and "Menu B" because of the numbering. Menu A has dishes A01 to A137. Menu B has dishes B01 to B97. When I asked one of the staff what the difference between the two menus was, he said one was regular and one was spicy. That actually wasn't the case, strictly speaking, but Menu B did contain the spicy dishes. And they have specials/off-menu items too. Chef's House serves Chinese cuisine you'll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in Georgia. A few examples include A28. Braised Abalone, Goosefoot, and Sea Cucumber in Abalone Sauce ($108 for one), A70. Braised Soft Shell Turtle with Chicken (special price), and B35. Lu Ding Ji Shrimp and Frog Charcoal Hot Pot ($48.95). Below is what five of us got: A01. Peking Duck - two courses sliced and soup ($43.95 first course + $15.00 second course) A48. Grilled Beef with Cumin Garlic and Mushrooms ($19.95) A93. Japanese Tofu Clay Pot ($18.95) B24. Sizzling Intestine Clay Pot ($23.95) B54. Spicy Chicken in Grill Pot ($21.95) Unlisted. Kōngxīncài (空心菜) in Mandarin / Ong Choy (蕹菜) in Cantonese - water spinach (price unknown) Like they do in China, Chef's House uses the same duck to serve multiple courses. Here, the first course is sliced meat with Chinese pancakes, spring onion, cucumber, and tianmian sauce (sweet bean sauce) and the second course is bone-in duck soup with tofu and greens. I recommend everything we had listed above. All of the ingredients were fresh and every dish was well-executed and delicious. This place is legit. For something different, I suggest checking out the "Grill Pots," B51-B58. Super tasty, and fun presentation. I loved the Sizzling Intestine Clay Pot. For me, I believe it eclipses the intestines at La Mei Zi on Buford Highway for best Chinese/Taiwanese intestines dish in Atlanta. So good. Finally, bonus points to any Chinese restaurant that serves my favorite Asian veggie, Ong Choy. Not only that, but they make an excellent version too. This is a great spot for families and groups. They have several large tables with Lazy Susans and private rooms. One of my friends came here for a baby shower This restaurant caters to and is popular with the local Chinese community. As I was seated, our server kept talking to me in Mandarin even after I told her I didn't speak Chinese. Pay in cash and get a discount. Note: I'm leaving this for the end of my review because I normally don't pay attention to nor put much stock in restaurant inspections (though admittedly, I probably should). Chef's House failed inspections in 2021 and 2022. They scored an 85 B on their latest inspection on 7/24/2023: https://bit.ly/3o7rhFW. I couldn't see into the kitchen, but this restaurant felt very clean to me.

We were in town for an unplanned visit. When we had down time, one of friends, who has been a local here for a decade, took us to this restaurant as one of his highest recommendations. Boy this place did not disappoint. Every dish we got there was excellent, but by far, their infamous Peking duck was the crowning jewel. There is an employee that will bring out a table to set up to carve the duck. The first part of this dish is sooo succulent. It pairs perfectly with some slightly sweetened plum sauce, cucumber, and rice paper for you to roll everything up into. What is not used is pan seared with onions and peppers. It is well seasoned and piping hot, somewhat reminiscent of salt and pepper squid. It was extremely tasty. As far as service goes, I usually never expect anything from Chinese restaurants. But I was pleasantly surprised this time. They were constantly at the table checking in and clearing the table. Overall it was a decent experience for a moderate price. Food was excellent and makes me dream of more!

I love Peking duck and was so excited when I found a restaurant near ATL that specializes in it. I've been here twice now and the duck is consistent. The Peking duck comes in 2 courses, the first is cut tableside and served either with flat pancakes or fluffy buns, the second is a stir fry or soup with the remaining carcass of the duck. I've tried both the stir fry and the soup and while I prefer the soup, both are forgettable- the first course is what matters here. Between the pancakes and the buns, I definitely prefer the buns. If you run out, you can order more a la carte. We've also tried other dishes here: hot and sour soup, beef tripe in chili oil, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper shrimp, cauliflower. I wouldn't recommend any of these items- the soup was not sour and the shrimp was covered in hard taro crisps that made it impossible to enjoy the shrimp. Maybe other items on their menu may be better? But I'll be returning for the Peking duck!

You can see from my reviews that I don't give bad reviews often. First of all, I've had real Peking Duck before in Beijing. Second of all, the service was absolutely atrocious. I went with my family and my parents are native Mandarin speakers so I don't think it was any discrimination or miscommunication. There is a mandatory 18% tip already included so the server kept pushing us to order more food. My brother wasn't even hungry so we didn't want to over-order (which we still did). And we got charged for dishes we didn't even order or receive? So ridiculous and the staff were rude when we wanted to get it fixed? Come here if you want to pay for food you didn't order! My parents said the Peking Duck was vastly overrated and the color and crispiness wasn't right. Hopefully it was an off day, but it says a lot if the off day is that bad. Portions were tiny like we barely got any. They don't have tap/cup of waters here so they charge per water bottle. The dishes I tried were nothing to write home about. Vegetable dishes were bland, except for the stir fried cauliflower which was decent. Everything is overrated. But my main complaint is the service. I will never step foot in here again and I recommend you don't either.

    Okra was fresh.

Sometimes a nice restaurant with an extensive pictures menu isn't the one that makes their dishes like the descriptive artwork nor prepares them as shown. Ok, so it was a novel way to make a selection after opening two giant menus full of pictures. The Chef's House host wasn't that much help when we asked specifically for vegetarian dishes. He did say one giant menu is for spicy dishes... We did find and ordered by the colorful pictures; like Okra and mushrooms and tofu and a few others that after having placed our orders and taken to the kitchen, that lo and behold what we had ordered was not available. We were also brought a cucumber dish we had not ordered...so it was a confusing start at the Chef's House in Duluth. However, the egg flower soup was thick and plentyful..note here that one individual bowl is good size for two persons. We liked the pork that was a take on the SS pork we are accustomed to. This was a fun choice. The Tofu with Chinese cabbage is not at all as shown on the menu but it was a great tofu with brown sauce big bowl. An even bigger bowl was the spicy general Tso like fish filets in a hot broth with the standard fare of vegetables. We also liked a glassy wide noodle spicy dish. The freshly cut Okra was actually a good eats. The dark mushrooms was clearly not made as we had expected, but we relented and made it part of our meal. Do not ask for water because they do not do water but they will sell you bottled water. The Chrysanthemum hot tea made up for water and we paid for it. The fragrant white steamed rice was ample for all the dishes. Chef's House baffles you with artsy pictures and we agreed that some that we ordered had good taste. We asked for take home boxes and I think we learned from this experience that a simple menu would have been much more brilliant.

We were greeted quickly at both the door and table. For a dumpling house, there weren't that many options for dumplings. We order two types of dumplings, a noodle dish and an entree on recommendation of the staff. The pork soup dumplings were very soupy on the inside and had a good flavor. The pan fried bao dumplings were alright but morning to write home about; I thought the bun to filling ratio was good for a bao though. For noodles we got the house rice noodles. I typically don't order this but I thought it was really well done with a good ratio of ingredients and flavor. Lastly we ordered the sales egg pork ribs. They were cut to bite size pieces but that's deceptive since they were bone in. Some pieces were all bone and some all meat. While the flavor was good, some might call it dry and the cut made it difficult to eat. While the seasoning for all the dishes were flavorful, I thought the salt was a little heavy. The waitresses there have always been very attentive and professional, never regret leaving a big tip because they definitely worked for it. Overall, ambiance is pretty noisy as there are a lot of seats and since it's a very family orientated restaurant, it's usually been packed with families enjoying a meal. The restaurant also shares a parking lot with a Tesla super charger, so it was perfect for me to plug my car in while I eat.

The clams weren't the freshest, but the flavor was still there. Rice noodles were fine, nothing crazy. The snow pea tips were a standout with perfect texture and clean flavor. The duck soup came as the second course of the Peking duck and was warm and comforting. They even gave us Chinese pumpkin cake for dessert, which was a nice surprise. Vibe wise, it's pretty simple. I'd say the food is on the same level as Royal China, just without the decor and ambiance. If you're coming strictly for the authentic Chinese food though, this spot hits!! We started with the Fuqi Feipian, which was on the salty side but otherwise pretty standard. The Seafood Shark Fin Soup was surprisingly bland, as if no salt had been added. We had to add red vinegar just to bring out some flavor, and it could have used more white pepper and seasoning overall. Next was the stir-fried squid with vegetables (I forgot the exact name). It included scallions, taro strips, and red peppers, but the taste was fairly average. The sweet and sour pork (Lychee Pork) was close to the Fujian-style flavor I'm familiar with, though the sauce was a bit light and not as tangy or sweet as expected. We also ordered the seafood fried rice noodles, which were very mild in flavor and lacked wok hei. It felt under-seasoned, almost like the seasoning was forgotten again. One standout dish was the red fermented rice pork intestines with snow peas, a classic Fujian specialty. The red fermented rice flavor really came through, and this dish was definitely worth supporting. The crispy roast duck was another highlight--crispy skin, juicy meat, and served with steamed pancakes, shredded cucumber, scallions, and sweet bean sauce. Very satisfying in every bite. The restaurant also offered complimentary orange slices at the end, which was a nice touch. Portions were generous, prices were reasonable, and overall it was a fairly filling meal. If you enjoy Fujian-style cuisine, it's worth giving this place a try.

There are some differences to how menu items are made/taste from when I first had it, so I feel as though the chef has most likely changed. It's both good and bad because the menu items with taro aren't quite as nice as before, but other things are either the same or better like the Beef Ho Fun for example. The chicken feet have changed too, but both were good. All the classic items are still basically the same. I liked the pan fried chives dumplings and beef cheung fun here. I can't speak for dinner or how it is on the weekdays, but it's quite busy over the weekends, which is expected for dim sum. It's a large space too, but once it's busy, you'll have to take a number and wait for a table. There's some seating along the side of the entrance to wait, but it may still take awhile. Usually, only one person really has to go and take a number, so if possible, one person should strive to get there earlier.

Royal China - Disappointing Experience…read more We have been coming to Royal China every year as part of our Christmas tradition, and we've always loved their Peking duck. Unfortunately, this year's experience was extremely disappointing. The service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes just to get our drinks, and after placing our food order, we waited another hour and a half with no food arriving. We were repeatedly told that the food was "coming soon," but nothing came. For reference, we ordered very simple dishes -- green beans, cauliflower, and eggplant -- items that should not take over an hour to prepare. Eventually, the duck arrived after an hour and a half, but none of the side dishes came with it. We had to speak to the manager three separate times, and the staff was rude and dismissive throughout the experience. The restaurant is very authentic, and we were clearly in the minority as guests, but that should never justify such poor service. Sadly, our five-year tradition of spending Christmas here was completely ruined. If you decide to visit this restaurant, be aware that the service can be extremely disappointing.
