Ok, guess this has not been my week to find stellar places to eat. On our way home from Norcross, the reviews for this place made it sound enticing....maybe it is a better choice for carnivores. Plenty of parking in the strip mall and the restaurant is clean with 6 tables to dine in and eat from your to go containers. Seemed to be short staffed as we waited over 5 minutes for the cashier to finish plating up food orders and then take our order. Hubby was quite hungry by 2pm so we opted for a tasteless undercooked barely any filly veggie empanada type item from the heated prepared food box. We love jack fruit and this was the main reason for our visit. However, the curry and the jerk jackfruit were both rather tasteless. Portions are hefty and rice with pigeon peas plus overcooked cabbage are included. The few plaintains included were tasty. As a vegan I really appreciated this meal. I had the chickpea curry with cabbage and plantains, and it was honestly so good. The curry was flavorful, well-seasoned, and had a really comforting homemade taste. The cabbage was cooked perfectly and paired really well with the dish, and the plantains were sweet and delicious. Feels like I'm in my mom's or grandparents kitchen when I come to Yardy kitchen. I've become a regular now but even before I was a regular I was always greeted with a warm hello & smile from the chef/owner Frank & Michelle. When I don't feel like cooking this is where I come because I know I'm going to get good cooked food. We've gotten Oxtail, Brownstew chicken, Stew Snapper, Stew Salmon and they have all been delicious. I even love how they make their plaintains The only thing I haven't tried yet are my breakfast favorites: Ackee & saltfish/ Callaloo & saltfish with some boiled food. I normally come during lunch or for dinner so I will definitely come for breakfast one Saturday. I grew up on beef patty with coco bread but Yardy's Jerk chicken patty is a whole other taste. This is my go to order now. I love that their patty isn't greasy, some places the grease is coming through the paper bag. Also their patty is filled with the meat from top to bottom as they should be, you're not short changed with their patties. Ordered off Uber Eats and, although the portions were large, the food could REALLY use some flavor. Very bland for stew chicken, the cabbage plus rice and peas were bare with no flavor whatsoever. The cocoa bread was pretty good, until I tasted what I thought was a pickle-flavor towards the end, it was so strange and makes no sense. We stopped here to try their food, and we were NOT dissapointed! We have been here twice now, and we are definitely fans! I tried the brown stew chicken and curry chicken, and my partner had oxtails and jerk chicken. It was all amazing! The portions are big and worth the money! The rice and peas are flavorful and delicious, as is the cabbage. I'm not a big fan of platains, but my boyfriend loved them. The beef patties and the curry chicken patties are amazing! The food here is amazing. It's really far away from everything and it took me 30mins from Tucker to get there but literally, best patties in GA. All the other places in Stone Mountain and Decatur patties are trash. Patties are the basis for how everything else will taste. I ordered the jerk plate with the chutney and that green sauce! That green sauce and pineapple chutney really elevated this meal. It was so good. I can't wait to go back and re-order or try something else. Service was good, the girl at the front was really nice, probably because she was American, and she was helpful with suggestions. If you're Jamaican like me, you know in the restaurants, they're not nice, so that was refreshing. Full transparency, I got a sick after eating the jerk plate and the curry patty. I came here for Wednesday lunch. It's in a shopping plaza with Dollar Tree and Dunkin Donuts. Parking is free. It was two customers in there sitting down eating. It was relatively quiet. I'm not sure IF this business was at a previous location but they just opened in Norcross off Holcomb Bridge near Spalding a few weeks ago! This restaurant is located in the plaza with Clean Eatz, Dollar Tree and right next door to FurKids. Dunkin' Donuts, KFC and a beauty supply store are also in the same plaza. Free, ample parking. My daughter brought home takeout from this restaurant. I'm not sure what the inside looks like. The curry chicken plate comes with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. In addition to the amazing taste, this food was so fresh! I could tell that nothing came from a can. The portions were large as most Caribbean places are. I do think that some of their prices are a little higher than normal. But if I can constantly get the same fresh & delicious meal, then I will pay extra. I will definitely be back soon! read more

I have been eating Caribbean food for 35 years, all over the east coast. I must say, this place is by far the BEST I have tasted from Jamaica. The chef and his wife are the kindest people in the industry. I drove 40 miles to try their food and it was worth it. My wife had their Jerk Chicken and I had their stewed jackfruit, vegan fried rice and the veggie patties. I have had all types of Jamaican vegan food and they do it the best. I found this lovely amazing gem of decadence via my Yelp app. When I'm in LA, I try to stop by new and old places to grab some goodies before going home. The first day that I found Karuba's Yardy Kitchen, I was starrrrving! It had been a really long day and I wanted to grab some food and get home. This place was easy to find, but that parking lot can leave something to be desired. The beauty supply next door be poppin... I swear you'd think they have a celebrity stylist in there or something, because people park all over, even blocking other cars. So beware of that when you visit Karuba's. Once you're in the door, you can already smell the delicious food. I ended up ordering the stew chicken and BBQ jerk short ribs. The sauce on the chicken was out of this world and that BBQ sauce on the short ribs was so damn good, I think I now have a serious addiction to it. The sauce alone is like crack! You can tell those sauces are homemade and I would not be surprised if Karuba's grandmother was in that kitchen, because babyyyyy....those recipes are clearly from the homeland! With those flavors, you know these recipes were passed down! Every time I've been in LA since then, I always stop in and grab food. They also have their famous Jamaican patties in curry chicken, jerk chicken, beef, veggie, and spinach. The patties are good...nice and flaky dough and a good amount of deliciousness inside. I've had the beef and spinach patties and both did not disappoint. They offer several different salads, like the jerk salmon salad or the BBQ salmon salad, in addition to a few different soups, like the lentil soup, which is vegan. They also serve ahhhhhmazing homemade juices, like the pineapple ginger (one of my favs) and the Passionfruit with guava. You definitely have to try the juices when you go! Besides meat dishes, they also serve vegan, veggie and beyond meat dishes. They have several choices that cater to people who have a meatless diet. I'd be inclined to try the beyond meat. A lot of restaurants have been doing amazing things with veggie and vegan dishes. I have no doubt they'd be able to surpass my expectations! Oxtail plate Review Honestly......this is the best oxtail plate that I've had in a looooong time in Georgia. I hate to sound pessimistic, but I have yet to find a Caribbean restaurant that I actually enjoy in Georgia. I travel to many Caribbean countries and my family is also from the Caribbean so I really know what tastes authentic. This for sure is authentic Jamaican oxtail. It's comparable to the food I get when I visit New York! The rice was perfectly shelly, not too much coconut milk, good plantain, tender meat, and well seasoned. My only complaint is that it was a little salty. It might have been an off day. Otherwise, great food, and I would 100% recommend to all the Caribbean people and anyone looking for good food. If I could give 5million stars it wouldn't be enough... I am a die hard foodie who will travel to other states and even countries just to eat. One of my favorite foods is Jamaican and I have made it a point to try most reputable Jamaican spots in LA. I have to say that Karuba's Yardy Kitchen is without question the best of the best and then some... since I moved away from Inglewood I still order it minimum 3 times a week, I ordered it as our Christmas meal this year, there is nothing I'd rather eat than this. The reason why is that you can feel the love in they put in the food as soon as you take the first bite. After the first time I ate there I figured maybe they just had a good day, but I have since eaten there over 100 times and it's always TOP level as if they are going out of their way to impress me personally, but this is just the standard they set for themselves. I have only written a handful of reviews in my life but I feel obligated to drive home how excellent this place is. The jerk chicken and salmon is insanely good, always perfect each time, the veggies and rice are also perfectly seasoned, and the Jamaican mac n cheese will make you shed a happy tear... I'd go as far as to say that when I am not in a good mood I order from here as a mood enhancer, ya'll know what I mean by that. This is the best in LA with NO close second, I literally moved within ordering distance because I NEED this every week. I never get tired of it because the quality control is basically perfect. It's a new restaurant in town. Walked in and was immediately greeted with a smile. The establishment looked very clean. Went at noon they weren't open that long but people were inside already. They have a wide menu and offer fresh juices. They give samples of juice too. The pineapple ginger juice was really good. I got the lunch special brown stew chicken for $10. It's lunch so it's definitely a difference in portions. The food was really good and flavorful. Will definitely be back. Wanting to try their chicken soup. Take the patty and place inside of the coco bread just like how it's done. The coco bread itself is really good, slightly sweet. The patties itself are flavorful.
