The cookie was surprisingly tasty and won't make you cringe with the sweetness level. And the fruit was fruit. There's nothing wrong or great to call out. The sandwich was superb. The soup was very hearty. And even the cookie was tasty. This lunch was pretty filling even sharing it as I had coffee already. Salt & Block didn't have a Yelp presence when I went there to check in or upload pictures.. so I have held onto them for months wanting to make sure I 1) recorded this so I could go back and 2) make sure they got known because I don't want them to shutter just because they are a small business dependent on the folks in their office building. So here is the dealio: It is a cafeteria type atmosphere, key difference is the freshness of the food and the downright 'gourmet' options. Wish I had taken a picture of the entrees and hot vegetables.... I don't recall exactly, but something like instead of baked chicken it was baked lemon & capers free-range chicken. And instead of over cooked bland brocoli, it was brocolini with orange zest or something crazy like that. I'm a sucker for any salad bar that has Tuna that doesn't have mayo in it and banana peppers and greek olives and feta.. so that was what I went for. Basically you start with your greens and pick 5 items or something. See my picture.. it was awesome served in one of those big white slanted bowls. The dining area has a whole wall of glass so very nice to sit and look outside or on a nice day just eat out side. In the interior area they have booths and a long high-boy table, perfect for doing a little work or having a meeting while you eat. And you know sometimes you are at one of those places, particularly where they are dishing it up for you, or making it as you order and you feel assembly line generic automaton vibe from the server? Not here. I frankly couldn't tell who was the owner/manager because they were ALL friendly and helpful and interactive which each other to make sure they were in tune and instep. So whoever set this place up is doing a great job of training and motivating his/her staff. I'm looking for an excuse to get back up to that area and meet for business there and enjoy the experience again.

It had thinly sliced turkey and pastrami, pickle, Swiss cheese, and grain mustard all in between two slices of toasted H&F sourdough bread. It was very delicious! The biggest thing that stood out, though, was the service. Patrick at the counter was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. He made the whole experience feel genuine, and that's something you don't always find anymore. He did an outstanding job and definitely left a great impression. I immediately was greeted by kind staff that was ready to take my order, I had an idea of what I wanted prior as they had menus outside to take a look at. When I ordered the cashier was very sweet and even helped me swipe my card when my card was having issues reading. He gave me great suggestions and overall made me feel very welcome. I ordered the sweet kikkoman soy stir fry and I ordered a smoothie as well. The wait was not long at all and they have a pickup area but the cashier brought it exactly to my seat, and my smoothie shortly after. Everything was beautiful and looked delicious! It tasted as delicious as it looked! Th le portions for the stir fry are huge! I couldn't finish it all but I was able to get a bag and take it with me! They also have a cute perk where every order gets you a free mini turtle. I got to pick mine out and was told if you bring 20 turtles you get a giant turtle. Super cute! Because of my prior experience, I ordered online. My order was supposed to take 25 minutes max to be prepared. I got there around the 25 minutes mark and my food was nowhere in sight. There were three or four employees in the entire restaurant, from what I can see. They have a board in which you can see the status of to-go orders, and my name was nowhere in sight. There was a handful of people who were waiting before me and were still waiting after me. After 15 additional minutes, I got my food. The employee handed me the bowl with no bag, no fork, and no napkin--I had to ask. I am patient when it comes to food service these days because everyone is so understaffed. They were working hard but honestly, this location has been like this since it opened. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular. I got a bowl (think Cava style but not as good) for $18. Wayyyy too expensive, especially considering the quality of service.
