Stopped by for a midday lunch with my coworkers and we had a blast. On arrival we were quickly greeted and sat, even without a reservation. My coworker had been to this location before so she was a pro with the menu and made sure my first dim sum experience was top tier. I loved trying all of her favorite dishes and reviewing the menu for a few options I wanted to try. Everything we tried came out fresh and hot. We really enjoyed the ambiance and the family size dining options. I'm not sure what all we ordered but def check out my pictures to show the waitress if you see anything you'd like to try!

This is my go-to spot for dim sum around Atlanta. This place has plenty of seating but it can still fill up fast. It's best to get there early on the weekends to avoid a long wait time. There is plenty of parking in front and behind the restaurant, including handicap spots and a ramp to the entrance, making it accessible. They have such a variety of dim sum, but my favorites are the turnip cakes, shumai, and spicy pork spare ribs. I love finishing off with a red bean bun for dessert too! I highly recommend trying their Peking duck too -- you need to order that off the menu. It comes with tasty bao buns and hoisin sauce, and they chop it up in front of you. It's such a fun experience and tastes delicious too. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. They make sure you have everything you need and try to bring the carts around frequently.

My parents and I arrive at 10:40 AM on this Saturday morning, and there were already a lot of tables filled. Staff was extremely helpful and gave us a close table as my mom has difficulty walking. Immediately the carts came with an assortment of dim sum dishes. My mom loves chicken feet and got two I enjoyed the fried shrimp ball and the vegetable which was like collard greens. My dad enjoyed his dishes as well. We tried to come on Christmas for dinner, but the line was out the door. My parents enjoyed the dim sum!

*DOORDASH REVIEW* General tso chicken is not good. Chicken is cold and way too breaded. The sauce, even though packaged separately, was bitter/ tasted like a weird syrup. Hot n sour soup is not hot nor sour, was bitter also. Never again.

To be honest, our first visit (about a year ago) was absolutely terrible. The servers were unfriendly, unhelpful, and condescending. We left after ordering only two dim sum items. Fast forward to 8/2025. We decided to give them another chance because they were highly recommended by a fellow Yelper, and I noticed the recent reviews were all positive. I'm glad we did, because the staff was friendly and accommodating (not at all like they were previously). It was a complete 180 from our previous experience. We were able to try more items because we actually received menus, and they were all really good. The chicken shu mai was my favorite. Just a heads up, it was pretty cold inside when we went, so I'd recommend wearing something to cover your arms to stay warm, and order the hot tea :)

This is the original location. We arrived when they first opened. Service was pretty good as we were seated quickly and our hot tea arrived shortly. The carts with dim sum was a bit slow to come around but decent choice options between fried and steamed items. My personal favorites were the shrimp siu mai (skip the shrimp ha gaw- unfortunately they seemed to have changed how they made them and were extremely bland), shrimp rice rolls and the shrimp wrapped in tofu skin. Go for the egg tarts - perfectly sweet and flaky and the red bean sesame balls. Will skip the mochi next time as they didn't really have a good mango flavor. Overall still a good stop for dim sum. Pro tip - bring cash (its not cash only but they gave a discount for paying with cash)

Spacious dim sum restaurant with rolling carts that wasn't too busy on a Saturday noon! Got seated immediately for 2 which was a shock coming from the Bay Area, CA where every dim sum joint has a wait. Food was a solid 3 here, not amazing but not bad. Includes all the standard savory and sweet dimsum fare with a bit more. Milk tea and Vietnamese coffee on carts were new for me lol. My favorites were the sweets - great egg tarts with flaky crust and smooth custard and the liu sha bao - not sure what it is in english but steamed bun with runny custard. The service was great though - carts came regularly and it was pretty English friendly - first time seeing some young high school/college aged kids push cart instead of all older aunties! One of the guys helping us was very kind and immediately brought us what we asked for when we couldn't find it on the carts. We also requested the liu sha bao and he said sorry it's gonna take 10 minutes. I assumed we would have forgotten because it was starting to get busy, but he brought it to us after 10 minutes! We were pleasantly surprised. I might try other dim sum spots before deciding to come back, but this place is pretty solid especially if you are trying dim sum for the first time and don't know Chinese since they are English friendly. There was a mix of Chinese families and all other kinds of folks!

I am craving for dumplings. This place has a lots of steam & fried dumplings. I don't eat pork, they have shrimp and chicken. The vegetables is good, tasty, and crunchy. The service is good. They came to your table with cart full of dumplings. So you just grab it from the carts. Next time I will try the lo mien. The restaurant is big and comfortable. Very good for family gatherings.

This is one of my favorite places in Atlanta to get traditional Chinese dim sum. From the stuffed shrimp crab claws to the Hong Kong lobster the favors in the dishes here are phenomenal. The service is great Van has been there a long time and is like family! The place is great for large parties as well!

As someone who had never had Dim Sum before, all I can say is, this was bad for me because now I can see myself being addicted to it! Canton House was so delicious. The food was authentic, flavorful, filling, and just overall great! I really enjoyed the cart service and being able to have different things come around for me to try. My favorite things I ate were the Short Ribs , Steamed Taro Buns, and Original Chicken Shumai. We came on a Saturday around 1:40, so i'd say it may be better to come early to have more options, but its very casual and you can start eating immediately! I've always been a fan of tapas, so this was perfect for me. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves dumplings or is a foodie!

HOUSE have I not written a review for the first dim sum restaurant I have ever visited in Atlanta, before I even moved here in 2009. Canton House is an institution and a classic. My most recent visit was in 2022 - although I haven't been back since. We came for weekend dim sum and didn't have to wait for a table when we were seated at 10:30am. It quickly got busy as we were eating. Starting at 10am on weekends, dimsum dishes are delivered by cart - the dining room is large but spread out and we were able to get quite a display of food pretty quickly. Everything is solid - nothing mind blowing but when you're craving cart-style dimsum, it works in a pinch. Definitely one of the better dim sum options on Buford Highway.

This is the go to place for Dim Sum in the Atlanta area! The food is fresh and delicious. My buddy and I shared steamed shrimp dumplings, sticky rice with chicken, and steamed pork from the carts. See pictures. All were very good. There is also menu order, but we did not try that. Price is very reasonable for the quality. Service is prompt. If you order from the menu, they bring it out from the kitchen. But our favorite is to wait for the dim sum carts, get description of each, and make our selection. Great large seating area with large tables for big groups. Very open and inviting place to dine. We had lunch here after a hike at Stone Mountain (see separate review). Conveniently located on busy Buford Highway. Worth going out of your way to find this place. Enjoy!

I've come here twice, for their dim sum and for their normal restaurant menu. I thought their dim sum was pretty good! When I came the first time they did not do cart service in the evening but the second time it seems they started doing it in the evenings and they came around several times asking if we wanted anything so it seems their cart service is pretty good! Their fish maw soup is absolutely delicious! And everything else was pretty good as well! I have no complaints. The second time I came with my parents and it was really slow to even get a table, even though half the restaurant was empty but the waiting area was PACKED. Not sure what was going on there. Several people had reservations and we were all packed in the waiting room so that was a little frustrating, especially for the people with reservations I would think. Once someone got to us though, we were seated right away. My mother loved the rice noodles that she got! She wouldn't stop talking about it and it was indeed delicious. Their portions were very generous. The cart service people were on top of it but the normal servers were lacking a bit for sure. But anyways, would recommend both their dim sum and their normal dine in menu! Just expect it to be a little slower if you're not there for dim sum

Ask the Community - Canton House

Does the Buford Highway location take reservations? I'm thinking of organizing a dinner with a bunch of my friends.

Yes you can call and make the reservations

Is dim sum only served during the day? Trying to get a group together for an evening dim sum outing on Buford Highway and was wondering if they serve dim sum in carts for dinner?

No dim sum carts for dinner but you can order dim sum off their menu

Do you also serve dim sum for weekend dinner?

Yes, they serve dim sum all hours that they're open. During weekend dinner hours, you'll have to order dim sum through your server, since they won't have the dim sum carts available at that time.

    Vegan dim sum available?

If they do, it's probably very few. I don't think Vegan dim sum even exists unless you're using fake meat.

What is the best time to go here?

Right when they open to beat the crowds and get freshly made dim sum.

Are you open, tomorrow, July 4? If so, what hours?

Can I order dim sum carry out?

    Yes.

What time do they serve dim sum?

They actually serve dim sum all day, but the carts start rolling at 10 am on Saturdays and Sundays and stop rolling by around 3 pm. Go early to avoid standing in line, because people are starting to go back to Canton House on the weekends. The dim… Read more

How does the dim sum work here? Is it on the carts and all you can eat? Like with a punch card, similar to nyc style dim sum restaurants? Also what's the price range for it?

Yes you order from the cart (or the waiter, if you've been waiting a while and can't spot the food you want) and they'll punch the card accordingly for the price. Price range I estimate around 3-5$ per cart dish. Sm and lg dishes vary in price too.… Read more

Is there a bar? Do they have a liquor license or is it BYOB?

There isn't a bar. I know they serve champagne during weddings.

Do they offer dim sum during the weekdays? If so, are the options limited compared to the weekends?

Canton House offers the same dim sum options during the weekdays and weekends, but generally have the roaming dim sum carts only during the times when they have the most diners in the restaurant during lunch hours on weekdays.

Are the dim sum carts pushed all day just certain hours during the day?

    All Day

Does Canton House serve Dim Sum during the Friday night dinner service?

Call to confirm, but I think they serve dim sum until 9pm every night.

Does dim sum serve on weekdays if so what time does it start?

    It is on the weekend

Is Dim Sum only available on the weekends?

    Served everyday.

Is dim sum served all day on saturdays? How does pricing work for dim sum?

Dim sum is served all day 7 days a week. The price is per plate. Different plate different price.

So they only serve dim sum before 3pm?

It's considered brunch, late morning to near lunch time.

What time is dim sum served on Sundays?

All day starting at 10:30 am. But the freshes and most variety would be from 11:00 - 3 pm

That's what I did with the Fisherman's Congee which turned out to have something I was allergic to (crustaceans). That's okay because the others ate it and I ordered a Roast Duck Congee instead. Yum. Service: Orders are called out on a microphone/speaker and you pick up at the counter. They forgot my chicken feet so I had to go up with my receipt and ask. They pulled their copy from the spike and made it right, with some squabbling among the employees in the process. Everyone had to bus their own tables. One employee cleaned the floor with rags instead of a mop. Not ideal. Overall, the dining room did not feel clean. The restroom was relatively decent, though. Atmosphere: We visited during a peak time, on a Sunday around 12:45 PM. The place was packed. Luckily, we were able to find a table. My wife described the scene as "chaotic." I call it authentic. :)

With this order you got a lot of them, and the sauce was on the plate and drizzle throughout the dumplings as well. Well so you got flavor at every turn. These were great! Szechuan spicy chicken - Pork soup dumplings - The soup dumplings were pretty good. To me. They weren't better than the chili wontons but they were still good and had a nice bit of flavor to them. The broth in them was tasty, but that kind of overtook meat inside. The broth was so flavorful that you didn't really, really know if you were eating chicken or pork or whatever. But nonetheless, it was still good and you got a nice bitter than for the order. I enjoyed the establishment. Their wontons are really nice sized and they are packed with flavor. I would not go back for the soup or the ramen bowl that they have but I would definitely go back to order five more orders of everything else lol.

Admittedly this location is in need of a DEEP clean and a major facelift. It's like stepping into a vintage time capsule. But hey, at least there's yummy food inside. Considering that, the prices do not really match the ambience at all in my opinion. However it seems they might have a big staff to support, especially those who make their dumplings and noodles from scratch. I'll pay a lil extra at a takeout spot for the food quality because it's certainly there. The staff has been pleasant enough, which is a nice plus. The pork buns are a great mouthful (I prefer steamed). Same for the soup dumplings. Unmatched in the texture of the dough. I've tried their hand-pulled noodles in a soup as well as a stir-fry and they certainly held their own. The noodle consistency is incredibly dreamy, so much so it has become a craving in my household. I don't like the beef they use as it can be a bit dry but the flavor is really nice. Nothing has been salty so far and the flavor profile is always robust. Numbing spice on deck. Again, the food is a hit. Where this place falls short is appearance and service. It just feels stuck in another century, and not in an endearing way. I ate here once, saw the condition of the restaurant and the health score, and settled on the blissful ignorance of takeout from thereon. The parking lot is rough and an eyesore. But honestly, it seems people overlook these things for the food. "People" being me....

Yes, we call it a "hole in the wall" -- it's literally in the basement of an optician and not the flashiest place you'll ever see. But don't judge a book by its cover. The quality of the food is far beyond what the exterior suggests. This is our one and only go-to spot when we need a true Chinese food fix in Atlanta. Simple, no-frills, and all about the food. It's not trendy or polished -- and that's part of the charm. You're here for authentic, bold flavors, not fancy decor. Service is pretty solid, even with the occasional language barrier or when the person hand-making dumplings steps away for a break. Even during peak busy times on previous visits, they've handled things well. One thing we learned the hard way: don't ask them to modify dishes. On a past visit, we asked for a change and they refused to preserve authenticity -- and honestly, I respect that 100% now. Lesson learned: trust the chef and learn to handle the spice! This place is all about explosive, authentic flavors. Our usual star is the Spicy Griddle Cooked Fish Fillet with potato chips, carrot chips, lotus root, and purple yam. It's a full-on flavor bomb -- numbing Sichuan peppercorn heat, bold spice, and perfect for sharing. Absolute showstopper. The Twice Cooked Pork Belly with Cabbage is my new favorite -- juicy, succulent pork paired with crunchy cabbage and an incredible sauce. Just phenomenal. The Black Pepper Beef was flavorful, though this time it leaned a bit heavy on green peppers and lighter on the beef. Still tasty, just slightly unbalanced. The Egg Fried Rice complemented everything beautifully -- and best of all, it wasn't oily. And the Lamb & Zucchini Dumplings? Worth every minute of the wait. Handmade and packed with flavor -- another absolute winner. We can't wait to go back. This is the kind of place you proudly take out-of-town guests -- they'll be blown away and talking about it the rest of their trip. Northern China Eatery never disappoints.

New Lan Zhou Noodle is one of the restaurants in the China Town food court. It's pretty popular due to their freshly made daily pulled noodles. Pre-pandemic, you used to be able to see them do it behind a glass screen. Now, you cannot see the back kitchen. Hubby and I ordered a noodle dish each (him was Seafood and mines were Short Ribs) along with their soup dumplings (that they're known for) and Twisted Cruellers. Food took very long to make, but it's understandeable. Bowls were very big and full. Meats looks good, but the white broth did not look good at all. We took a spoonful of broth to start off with without adding any condiments and OMG...no flavor at all! We were thoroughly disappointed. The meats part were good and tender (though again, no flavor), but most disappointing was that even with condiments, the broth was bland. We kept on saying to each other that we will not order from here again. The noodles were just okay. Nothing earth shattering about it. Twisted cruellers tasted like it was just heated from a frozen one. I didn't get to taste the soup dumplings because we were running late for appt since the foods took so long and had to pack it to-go. I can't really comment on that. I will not order from here again and would like to try the surrounding stalls around it.

Vegetable spring rolls, yes, but I was really feeling like the takeout classic that seems like it should/would be standard on any Chinese menu. Instead, I got the Shanghai Soup Dumpling which was alright but comes nowhere close to Lhanzou Ramen's soup dumplings. The orders of Chicken Lo Mein and Sizzling Plate Beef were also fine, but severely lacking meat and consisting of mostly vegetables/filler. We placed the order for delivery through Door Dash so can't comment on the location itself.

What's more mad is that I've done this twice lol. I'd give the chili oil wontons a 3.5 stars. It comes with a few bok choys, scallions, and sauce. The wontons paper is quite thin and soft- not usually how I like it but that's up to preference. The restaurant def has a large variety of foods which is nice. I don't think any other restaurant at Chinatown Market makes them? It's one of the bigger stalls here too. Service takes a while; I think I've waited 15-20+ min for just wontons. If you're here for a while, I think you should give the menu a try. Their main dishes look reasonably priced too. The older Chinese man who looks to run everything was super nice and kind, I saw him training a cashier.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!
