Before 12/25 I used to love the Peking duck here! It actually had meat on the skin! The food is always been good here and I've always enjoyed eating here I was so anxious when they closed down. And when I went back for my birthday I was very excited to be able to order my duck again. Unfortunately, it was a huge contrast from what I was expecting so much that, I had to write another review that was so disappointing. See my other review update in March 2026.

The remodel was a big sham. I came in with a group of 7 people. The self rotating lazy Susan was cool, but where we were sitting the AC wasn't working and the whole meal felt hot humid and muggy. It didn't help that the servers rarely visited our table and only refilled our water glasses once. When I did flag down a server, she awkwardly said she wasn't our server and refused to help. The food wasn't much better either. Chicken feet was soft, no texture, and tasteless, egg tarts were also bland. The spare ribs as well were rubbery. The Chinese broccoli was super oily. The only good thing I ate was the sesame balls, which were probably bought from a wholesale distributor. We asked for beef ho fun and radish cakes but they never arrived. They also overcharged us on these "big plates", even though the deal said 5.50$ for all plates. At this point I didn't care to argue over the bill. Probably my worst dimsum experience ever.

This place was just renovated and is now under new ownership/management. The dining area is now bright and clean. The staff and manager/owner we talked to were all very personable. The food was tasty without being overly salty. Prices are reasonable and portions were quite generous. The only issue I had was that a few of our orders were incorrect. I think that could be because it's "soft opening" right now. There was a rush of people that the kitchen staff was likely unprepared for, so it got a little chaotic. I am sure they will improve.

We haven't stopped talking about this restaurant since we left. The staff was welcoming and took the time to educate us on a few things which was super cool. Everything we ate was amazing. The only thing we regret is that we filled up on dumplings mostly and didn't save room for other dishes. Can't wait to go back for more.

The food here is alright - I might just have super high expectations growing up with houston chinese food, but nothing here was outstanding. My party of 4 came for dinner and we did part dim sum, part dinner entrees. Of all the items we ordered, I thought the walnut shrimp was the best! The shrimps are massive - truly some of the largest I've ever seen. They offer dim sum all day, but their dinner dim sum options are quite limited. I would say the siu mai was a little different than normal... wasn't the biggest fan. The interior is nice and is decorated like a classic chinese banquet restaurant. Overall I think the pricing is a bit steep to justify the average food.

Came here for a lunar new year celebration with a big group. We ordered the kitchen ordered food and didn't come for the typical dim sum. We got crab, lobster, chicken, pork, two vegetables dishes, fish, and noodles. The chicken dish was served cold and it was really good with all the scallion and cilantro. The ginger sauce that it came with was fragrant and a great dipping sauce for the chicken. The lobster dish was delicious and the right amount of salty! The lobster dish was with a ginger sauce as well. They also cracked a lot of the shells and the sauce seeped into the lobster. The crab was just as good and came with a good black bean sauce. The first vegetable dish with lotus came with mushroom and other root vegetables, I particularly liked this dish because of the different vegetables! The other vegetable dish was a simple wok fried vegetable and just as good. The fried noodles we ordered also came with lots of small pieces of seafood and had a good wok fried char flavor to it. The fish was steamed and very fresh, the meat just fell off the bones. I enjoyed the fish the most. The sweet and sour pork came with onion, bell pepper, and pineapple. In my opinion, this dish was a little too sweet than sour and most of the pieces were fatty, which I didn't love. They also have a plate of oranges at the end of the meal. Overall, I really enjoyed the dinner we had here and the service was efficient. They also changed out our dirty plates throughout dinner! Would love to come back to try their dimsum during the day.

I went to atlanta to try the dim sum so i could compare it to Houston and San Francisco. The dim sum menu was a bit lacking so I ordered the seafood egg tofu dish and basil clams. Overall, food was decent, not memorable and some dishes i expected to be silky and smooth were chewy. My basil clams were juicy but the sauce needed a bit of black bean flavoring along with the basil. My seafood egg tofu dish was completely missing the seafood. Imagine my shock to pay $23 for only egg tofu. Then the bill came and i was totally expecting g it to be at least 40% higher than it was. I kept asking if they were sure they charges me for everything. So food 3/5 but price 4.5/5. Compared to most Chinese restaurants in Houston, Tx that provide little or no service i was a bit spoiled by my wait staff constantly changing my dirty plates. We had to tell them it's ok to stop. So customer service 4/5. The ambiance reminds me if the older restaurants I used to go to in the 90's. They were even playing g music videos from that era. Very nostalgic!

Was on a trip driving through ATL and had to stop for some dim sum. First time trying this spot and even for a week day they had cart service and quick to fill our plates. Had all the usual suspects and was very tasty but not the top have had in US. Recommend for great food and if lived close by would visit often. Don't hesitate to give it a try!

What's the latest dim sum is served?

    Do they serve alcohol?

    Yes

Do they do cart service on weekdays?

    Yes they do!

Is mask required for indoor dining?

    No.

What hours and days do they serve the dim sum?

    I remember it's served till 3 pm.

I have only gone to a Dim Sum house like once in my life, forever ago. Is there a specific time of day that they do the Dim Sum carts or is it part of the regular menu? How does this work? Thanks!

It happens for brunch. Sunday is the big day to experience it. I would suggest going on a Sunday at 12:00PM. While very busy at this time, it is when all of the dishes being served that day are sure to be available.

The Canton House on Buford Highway is my family's go-to for authentic Cantonese dim sum in Atlanta…read more The food is always up to expectations each and every visit. Having been at least once every couple months for years, it's our Chinese comfort food as dim sum is meant to be. Although I would recommend arriving at anytime they are open, we find the absolute best time for dim sum is to arrive right at opening on Saturday or Sunday. This time lets us beat the wait, get a great table fast, and the food is super plentiful, hot and fresh out of the kitchen. The chrysanthemum tea is a must have and complements the food as a perfect, tasty, and just sweet enough palate cleanser (although I would prefer to add the rock sugar myself to my tea, they serve it with sugar already inside the pot). For the absolute best pairing with your chrysanthemum tea, make sure to save room for the awesome pineapple buns while supplies last. They were out today and we all collectively cried (will be going back just for the pineapple buns soon...we are just not complete without them!). We love all the dishes, but our absolute favorites (outside of the pineapple buns) are the pork spare ribs with black bean, the beef rice rolls/noodles, shrimp dumplings, and turnip cakes. Add some spicy sauce to the spare ribs and turnip cakes to really set them off! For iced coffee lovers who like it really strong, don't pass up on the iced coffee. It has legs that are strong enough to walk, but completely complements the dim sum with a little extra boost to help you enjoy the day. So, I challenge others to find a better dim sum place in Atlanta. That is why Canton House earns my 5th star and looking forward to getting my pineapple buns (really) soon!

We started with the flower tea, amazing choice! Sweet and warming, nicely aromatic. Perfect start. Then the dim sum carts rolled in and we chowed down. DISHES I ORDERED - Siu Mai: Not the best I've had. Quite oily on the outside, but the flavor isn't bad. It does...taste like siu mai. It's just nothing spectacular - Chinese Broccoli: A classic! Very good - Beef Chow Fun: A very chewy and bouncy home made flat noodle dish. Savory, salty, and flavorful! Good amount of tender beef too. - Shrimp Balls: Crispy and fried on the outside, yummy, with good big shrimp ball. Yummy classic sweet and sour sauce too. Delicious - Egg Rolls: Good, not too oily, a normal egg roll - Spare ribs: Possibly my favorite dish! Tender, not too chewy, good savory sweet flavor. -- Overall, it's not bad but it's nothing to write home about. My favorite item was probably the spare ribs. The rest were standard in my opinion. However, service is fast since it is dimsum, so perfect to eat when hungry! Also great ambiance for big group parties or hangouts!

Fish Cake with Chives Flowers ($24) - includes soup and bowl of white rice Fisherman's Congee ($11) Roast Duck Congee ($13) Everything was fresh and delicious with generous portions. We skipped the line and ordered using the big tablet. Menu descriptions are non-existent, so if you don't know what something is, you're taking a chance. That's what I did with the Fisherman's Congee which turned out to have something I was allergic to (crustaceans). That's okay because the others ate it and I ordered a Roast Duck Congee instead. Yum. Service: Orders are called out on a microphone/speaker and you pick up at the counter. They forgot my chicken feet so I had to go up with my receipt and ask. They pulled their copy from the spike and made it right, with some squabbling among the employees in the process. Everyone had to bus their own tables. One employee cleaned the floor with rags instead of a mop. Not ideal. Overall, the dining room did not feel clean. The restroom was relatively decent, though. Atmosphere: We visited during a peak time, on a Sunday around 12:45 PM. The place was packed. Luckily, we were able to find a table. My wife described the scene as "chaotic." I call it authentic. :)

I had to do a little doctoring and I tried to get it where I needed to but it was decent but it was a little bit on the bland side. I ended up putting more of the wonton sauce in there to give it a little Tang and a little kick, as well as putting some chili oil in it as well. After that, it started working out pretty well. But on his own, it was decent but it wasn't good out of the box. Pork wonton with chili sauce - So this is kind of like my guilty pleasure. I love chili wontons. With this order you got a lot of them, and the sauce was on the plate and drizzle throughout the dumplings as well. Well so you got flavor at every turn. These were great! Szechuan spicy chicken - Pork soup dumplings - The soup dumplings were pretty good. To me. They weren't better than the chili wontons but they were still good and had a nice bit of flavor to them. The broth in them was tasty, but that kind of overtook meat inside. The broth was so flavorful that you didn't really, really know if you were eating chicken or pork or whatever. But nonetheless, it was still good and you got a nice bitter than for the order. I enjoyed the establishment. Their wontons are really nice sized and they are packed with flavor. I would not go back for the soup or the ramen bowl that they have but I would definitely go back to order five more orders of everything else lol.

Admittedly this location is in need of a DEEP clean and a major facelift. It's like stepping into a vintage time capsule. But hey, at least there's yummy food inside. Considering that, the prices do not really match the ambience at all in my opinion. However it seems they might have a big staff to support, especially those who make their dumplings and noodles from scratch. I'll pay a lil extra at a takeout spot for the food quality because it's certainly there. The staff has been pleasant enough, which is a nice plus. The pork buns are a great mouthful (I prefer steamed). Same for the soup dumplings. Unmatched in the texture of the dough. I've tried their hand-pulled noodles in a soup as well as a stir-fry and they certainly held their own. The noodle consistency is incredibly dreamy, so much so it has become a craving in my household. I don't like the beef they use as it can be a bit dry but the flavor is really nice. Nothing has been salty so far and the flavor profile is always robust. Numbing spice on deck. Again, the food is a hit. Where this place falls short is appearance and service. It just feels stuck in another century, and not in an endearing way. I ate here once, saw the condition of the restaurant and the health score, and settled on the blissful ignorance of takeout from thereon. The parking lot is rough and an eyesore. Yes, we call it a "hole in the wall" -- it's literally in the basement of an optician and not the flashiest place you'll ever see. But don't judge a book by its cover. The quality of the food is far beyond what the exterior suggests. This is our one and only go-to spot when we need a true Chinese food fix in Atlanta. Simple, no-frills, and all about the food. It's not trendy or polished -- and that's part of the charm. You're here for authentic, bold flavors, not fancy decor. Service is pretty solid, even with the occasional language barrier or when the person hand-making dumplings steps away for a break. Even during peak busy times on previous visits, they've handled things well. One thing we learned the hard way: don't ask them to modify dishes. On a past visit, we asked for a change and they refused to preserve authenticity -- and honestly, I respect that 100% now. Lesson learned: trust the chef and learn to handle the spice! This place is all about explosive, authentic flavors. Our usual star is the Spicy Griddle Cooked Fish Fillet with potato chips, carrot chips, lotus root, and purple yam. It's a full-on flavor bomb -- numbing Sichuan peppercorn heat, bold spice, and perfect for sharing. Absolute showstopper. The Twice Cooked Pork Belly with Cabbage is my new favorite -- juicy, succulent pork paired with crunchy cabbage and an incredible sauce. Just phenomenal. The Black Pepper Beef was flavorful, though this time it leaned a bit heavy on green peppers and lighter on the beef. Still tasty, just slightly unbalanced. The Egg Fried Rice complemented everything beautifully -- and best of all, it wasn't oily. And the Lamb & Zucchini Dumplings? Worth every minute of the wait. Handmade and packed with flavor -- another absolute winner. We can't wait to go back. This is the kind of place you proudly take out-of-town guests -- they'll be blown away and talking about it the rest of their trip. Northern China Eatery never disappoints.

Hubby and I ordered a noodle dish each (him was Seafood and mines were Short Ribs) along with their soup dumplings (that they're known for) and Twisted Cruellers. Food took very long to make, but it's understandeable. Bowls were very big and full. Meats looks good, but the white broth did not look good at all. We took a spoonful of broth to start off with without adding any condiments and OMG...no flavor at all! We were thoroughly disappointed. The meats part were good and tender (though again, no flavor), but most disappointing was that even with condiments, the broth was bland. We kept on saying to each other that we will not order from here again. The noodles were just okay. Nothing earth shattering about it. Twisted cruellers tasted like it was just heated from a frozen one. I didn't get to taste the soup dumplings because we were running late for appt since the foods took so long and had to pack it to-go. I can't really comment on that. I will not order from here again and would like to try the surrounding stalls around it.

The wontons paper is quite thin and soft- not usually how I like it but that's up to preference. The restaurant def has a large variety of foods which is nice. I don't think any other restaurant at Chinatown Market makes them? It's one of the bigger stalls here too. Service takes a while; I think I've waited 15-20+ min for just wontons. If you're here for a while, I think you should give the menu a try. Their main dishes look reasonably priced too. The older Chinese man who looks to run everything was super nice and kind, I saw him training a cashier.

They did not skimp on the protein, the bottom of the dish is veggies but I don't mind because I love vegetables and it's still very filling. Food came out pretty quick and the workers were courteous. A great place to get a cheap and tasty meal.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!
