I loved the garlic noodles a lot. The salted egg yolk shrimp were DELICIOUS!! I would go there for it again. Unfortunately my half of the unagi bao only had a small piece of bacon and some cucumber slices. No unagi at all while my husband's half was 100% unagi and cucumber. So he got the full flavor, I got full carbs.

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon (dining here was on our list) and while the restaurant was sparsely attended at noon, the other stores in the strip mall were packed and it made parking a little tricky. The spots are quite small. We order a sundry of items off of the menu and I thought they were good. Certainly tried some new dishes. My favorite was the spicy chili chicken wontons. I could have eaten all eight of them myself. The cheong fun spicy chicken was beautiful but not a favorite. We debated which one of the salted egg yolk dishes to get- a preparation I had never tried- and landed on the fried shrimp and garlic noodles. It was good... we ordered two orders of roti- four pieces total- and that was a bit disappointing serving size wise for the three of us. Our server was lovely and the food came out hot and well spiced. I will return and make some additional choices from the menu.

But nothing at all other than the beer list makes it feel 'brewery', it's very much an upscale interior, fanstic layout of sushi bar, regular bar, open air dining and outdoor patio. The food - wow. very unique flavor profiles, hearty, lots of great options between samplers, sushi, and main courses. Pro Tip - if you feel overwhelemed about the menu, most of the staff that i meet here know it very well and have worked here for a very long time, so feel free to ask, we were suprised by such a good selection of options by our bartender.

The interior has an open concept - cool to see in open view the whole kitchen. Fresh seafood and sushi. All made/prepped in house. The hand rolls were great, as well as shrimp roll, which had interesting curry fries that came along it, which I thought was nice. I didn't try any of the noodle type dishes so can't comment on those. I enjoyed it! However.... The dessert was horrible. Overpriced gas station dessert (actually, gas station dessert is probably better and cheaper). All brought in from an outside commercial vendor/wholesaler (confirmed upon asking). Specifically, I ordered 2 desserts: one resembling something like a creme brûlée and one that was a layered chocolate cake/tart. Both were shockingly bad, and you don't want that especially after a good meal. Maybe they were old? Regardless, either don't serve any of these desserts, or offer like 2 options that are made in house.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

A great place to get a cheap and tasty meal.

Prices have increased since my last visit (of course), but they're still quite reasonable. The service is exceptional! We always enjoy chatting with Jojo and Chloe when we're there. These two ladies are incredibly friendly and helpful. My parents visit so frequently that Jojo already knows their orders without them having to say a word lol. You never have to wait long; our orders come out one dish after another very quickly. My group had 5 people, so we had to wait a bit to get seated, but the staff was able to navigate that really well. The food was delicious! I got the Beef Chow Fun Ho, and for an appetizer, I got the roti and the curry. I would highly recommend both! The roti was flaky and soft- it paired so well with the curry. The beef chow fun was good as well, but it tastes better with this chili sauce (it could be it was seasoned just fine and my taste buds are dead from all the spice I eat). That sauce elevated the flavors even more. The prices were fairly priced for what you get, and I will say, though, if you come with a group of 5 or more, they will charge you a 20% tip automatically. I did not mind at all because the waitress we had was very attentive and checked up on us several times during our meal.

This plaza is also home to the very good Temp Doeloe (check that review) and China Hot Pot (aka Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot). The parking for this plaza is pretty tight but depending on your arrival time you should be able to find a space - might be a good idea to carpool just in case. I attended a meeting here of my regular Buford Highway Restaurant Clawr group - actually we had tried to come here once before but the guy was about to close, so this time we came earlier, only to find that you had to call ahead to get the whole duck (which is what we were the most interested in). This sparse, brightly painted place is more of a butcher than a restaurant - where fans can buy various animal bits like Duck head, neck, feet, wing, tounge or gizzard (similar for chicken), also cuts of beef tripe, stomach and tendon or pork ear, feet and leg. They also have several seafood items like crawfish, river snails and mussels. It's my understanding that this is a particular style of traditional Chinese cooking where the focus is on all the bits that are often discarded in the US. It's for a discerning palate and stuff you might find from street-food vendors in large Chinese cities. For Atlanta this is a way to get flavors you wouldn't otherwise find, perhaps to deal with a longing for home. Thus the clientele is made up mostly of Chinese nationalists. We opted for two very similar dishes (we weren't aware how similar until we got them) - one was a soup with clear noodles and the other basically the same thing without the broth. I thought the broth fairly decent and the bits fairly fresh if very rich. I don't mind tripe, beef stomach, blood sausage and the like but I try to only get it in occasional bites - getting a huge bowl was a bit overwhelming. I think if you're looking for something interesting this might be the place to start - I'm not too sure if I'd have this as a destination. The guy behind the counter was not very engaged, seeming to spend all his time on his phone, basically oblivious to us - I don't think we fit into his typical demographic. Overall One of the…read morebetter dim sum and Cantonese style Chinese food experiences I've had in the Duluth area. A few standout dishes were so good they almost carried the whole meal to a 5. Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.
