Sichuan fish and tofu and the green beans
    Annie H.

This is located in a food court, so there are tons of options, but what stood out to me was the value this specific restaurant offered for each dish. Most of the dishes were like $12 and had huge portions, and each included rice. The food itself was delicious and flavorful, definitely capturing the essence of a Sichuan meal with the chili oil and savory umami flavor of the fish and tofu. The green beans were fairly standard and traditional. I appreciate the swiftness that the food came out. Definitely remember what you got since it is self-serve and you need to pick up your own order. They have a little water station and a station for Utensils and napkins just next to where you'd pick up your food. I really appreciate the busy food court vibe that reminds me of little hole in the wall shops/food carts in China. It's a bit loud, but that adds to the fun!

They did not skimp on the protein, the bottom of the dish is veggies but I don't mind because I love vegetables and it's still very filling. Food came out pretty quick and the workers were courteous. A great place to get a cheap and tasty meal.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

My only issue: inconsistent filling. I've been back for the dumplings specifically, and some days... they'd be rather light. It was quite disappointing to have a dumpling that's 70% wrapper, and I should've taken a pic honestly... but it still tasted good (oop). The other food options are pretty good too, except the curry, which I found ok at best. It was kind of bland in comparison to everything else I tasted. Not actually "Szechuan Spicy" as it states and the curry was a little thin. If something says mala though, believe it... to a degree. Not as tongue numbing as others I've had, but you can still feel it. OH! You have to pay for your rice though. It does not come with and is $2 for each bowl you want. Never before have I had to pay for steamed white rice, but ig it's a first for everything. Dining in here is a bit similar to ordering take away. You have to scan a QR for the table to place your order, which you pay for ahead of time, before your food is made and brought out to you. There isn't much service besides someone getting you a drink. I don't think it's really worth sitting down and eating there, and if you wanted food here, I would only truly recommend the dumplings like I was.

The drink was really good, especially for a restaurant!! Very floral tea with fruity mango notes, it was so good I wanted another one. The mapo tofu was very rich in flavor, it had the spiciness but also held the body of the black bean flavor without being oily. So far our favorite mapo tofu in the area. The Yummy Spicy Chicken (fried cubed chicken with peppers) was the same, the crunchiness was perfect and the chicken was still moist. I do wish it had a little more spice but it was still good. The Jing Jiang pork also tasted good, but I was quite surprised with the meat quality as re-heating the next day did not have any gamey flavors. Finally the dry vegetable was also really delicious, a wide variety of vegetables with a few having a seared flavor. Would try getting the beef dry pot next time! Service was also really good, the waiters came to check on us multiple times and even wanted to reheat our dry pot. A great place for casual yet delicious Szechuan style food, and our go to spot now!

New Lan Zhou Noodle is one of the restaurants in the China Town food court. It's pretty popular due to their freshly made daily pulled noodles. Pre-pandemic, you used to be able to see them do it behind a glass screen. Now, you cannot see the back kitchen. Hubby and I ordered a noodle dish each (him was Seafood and mines were Short Ribs) along with their soup dumplings (that they're known for) and Twisted Cruellers. Food took very long to make, but it's understandeable. Bowls were very big and full. Meats looks good, but the white broth did not look good at all. We took a spoonful of broth to start off with without adding any condiments and OMG...no flavor at all! We were thoroughly disappointed. The meats part were good and tender (though again, no flavor), but most disappointing was that even with condiments, the broth was bland. We kept on saying to each other that we will not order from here again. The noodles were just okay. Nothing earth shattering about it. Twisted cruellers tasted like it was just heated from a frozen one. I didn't get to taste the soup dumplings because we were running late for appt since the foods took so long and had to pack it to-go. I can't really comment on that. I will not order from here again and would like to try the surrounding stalls around it.

It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper
