We selected the pork dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, ma po tofu, Singapore rice noodles, spicy shrimp, crispy beef, and hot and sour soup. You also need to order bowls of rice separately. I love Gus and have only eaten at the krog street location. This is my first order from the Buford location and I am beyond disappointed. Gu's is good. It's not amazing but the quality is good. The mapo tofu and dan dan noodles were filling and we had enough for seconds. I just can't come here because they charge extra for rice. The dan dan noodles were good. The wife liked them. The mapo tofu was spicy without being overwhelming. Ordering through a QR code is cool I guess. That means less talking to the server for me. It's not that I dislike servers, I just don't want to interact with people sometimes. Would I come here again? Maybe. This sits above a tier of the H-Mart food court in Chamblee but it's a lot more expensive. I don't think I would be back here for just dan dan noodles or the mapo tofu. I've seen this restaurant a couple times on Atlanta Eats and I finally decided to try it out. I had BOGO Pork Dumplings, Sesame Chicken with White Rice, and Thick Noodles. My favorite were the thick Noodles and Dumplings. The Sesame Chicken was dry and tough and I had little sauce. It was really not fresh at all! I say this not to be mean but It was super chewy and tasted like it could have been leftovers. Gu's is a hidden gem and one of those IYKYK places. This is a quant local owned restaurant with that local feel. I'm going to make this short and brief. Just go!! There isn't one bad thing on the menu and we tried just about everything. Cold noodles, General Tsao chicken, crab Rangoon, fried rice, white rice, spring rolls, chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, crispy steak....whoaaaaa. I'd like to pause here for a moment. Crispy steak - yes, it's a thing and yes, it was amazing. Get it!! The menu is digital and your check comes to your phone so it's an easy order and pay on and out. The food comes out just as fast and is served family style. This is a small place with simple decor reminiscent of a cafeteria with the school like chairs and tables but who cares because the food is amazing. I'm hoping this place has improved but I doubt it .l , but we wrote this place off awhile ago. We've been there a few times and the manager was straight up screaming and berating the employees. We've had missing items from our order multiple times. And the fried chicken is almost always overcooked. I've been to the other locations, this one sucks. Beef was a little dry; spicy chicken was good; dumplings were solid; noodles had a great sauce but was a small dish. The service was awkward: we did the little dance at the front where we didn't know if the server was bringing us to a table cause he just walked off without a word after we said how many in our party. They also ask that you use a QR code to order and pay which we didn't know until we flagged him down and he pointed to a small table sign. Gu's is a place I recommend for take outs but not for a sit down experience. The inside of Gu's is pretty generic. You order and pay by QR code, and they ask you to pay and tip before you get your food, which is something I really dislike as their is no way of tipping for good or bad service, and in this case service was bad. The food came to our table in a reasonable time, but nobody checked in on us to see how we were doing, refill our drinks, and we had to flag someone to get a to go box. The food itself is good, better than your average takeout Chinese withe some distinct options, so would recommend it to go if you're willing to pay a little more for something a little different. read more

I have been to Gu's several times but this was a delivery in early evening. I ordered their szcehwan string beans. They were tough and many could not be chewed. Strings were still attached and there was no spice at all on these beans. I have had them in the restaurant and loved them. Also I ordered egg drop soup which was a two for one but only got one. I like my egg drop soup a little thicker than theirs. I would still go back to the brick and mortar but would not trust a to go/ delivery to be prepared in the same manner as an in restaurant diner could expect. read more

Another good meal from Gu's! It keeps getting pricier and it's more of a drive for this OTP girlie, so I plan a takeout order every few months to feed my Gu's craving. It all about the dumplings. The dumplings are to die for, the customer service is lacking. When you arrive you are greeted by a man who would rather be somewhere else. If he acknowledges you he goes to a table, cleans it off, and leaves it wet before stalking back to his desk. Once you are past this you keep your elbows off the table and scan the QR code. All the ordering is up to you and you pay your check immediately. The food comes out and you eat and leave. Rinse and repeat. This sort of dining doesn't appeal to me. I wish there was someone to help talk through the choices and complete my order. Especially if tipping is still part of the equation. Besides the pork dumplings I ordered crispy beef. The homemade sweet and spicy Zhong sauce is divine. It is a sweet and garlicy thin brown sauce with a slight spiciness. You can buy it by the bottle (which I did happily) and I will now be adding it to all my food at home. We started with the award winning dumplings and then used the leftover aforementioned sauce as an additive to our respective dishes (pork fried rice and Chongqing spicy chicken noodles) because it's just that good. The chicken noodles were of medium thickness (they have handmade sweet and spicy thick noodles if you like them bigger) and definitely had a spicy kick. The chicken was nicely crispy and tender on the inside. We personally found the fried rice a little underwhelming but the other dishes more than made up for it. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat but after Sunday evening I will no longer come here. I ordered off of uber eats and went to go do a pick up. The app is telling me it was ready so I went in and this Asian guy that was at the front looked at me as to why I was asking him where my food was. No greetings just told me no it's not ready. So I waited 25 min extra to get my order but my order was sitting on the table and he didn't even bother to tell me. I told him is that my order and he looked and he then gave it to me. I was so pissed because I waited for no reason. The. To top it off I didn't have any utensils in my car because I wanted to eat it before going to work. Very disappointed. I was super excited to try it because I heard great things. The restaurant was cute. I originally ordered chicken, broccoli and cilantro dish. The flavors were good but I could the chicken was fried in old grease. I notified the woman at the front, she stated the grease was changed this morning even thought the chicken reeked of an old grease smell. She offered to made a different dish that was not fried and suggested the Kung Pao Chicken. I agreed. When the food arrived. Once again the flavors were good but I could taste old grease in the sauce. The old grease wasn't as strong as the first dish but present enough to taste. They were super busy during COVID though and were only doing to go orders at that time. Def get the Zhong style dumplings. I think the pork tastes better than the chicken. The sauce from this goes really well with anything really. Handmade sweet and spicy thick noodles- def unique and tasty Chengdu cold noodles- also pretty unique cold noodles and it's pretty instagrammable Szechuan spicy fried rice- really gooddd but beware if you have GERD.
