Fresh out of my hair appointment, I had one very specific craving, and I've learned that when you're craving something that particular, you might as well just go get it because nothing else is going to satisfy it. So naturally, I headed over to Food Terminal. This was actually my first time visiting the Buford Highway location. I've only been to the Marietta Street location before, and I was immediately surprised by how spacious this one is. Let's get the important question out of the way first... parking. Parking is free, plentiful, and incredibly easy. The restaurant shares a lot with the neighboring farmers market, but even with that, there was still plenty of parking available, which made the whole experience even better. I was greeted warmly by the host, who let me choose my own seat. I ended up sitting all the way in the back because I was in the mood for a little solo dining and some quiet "me time." My server was incredibly sweet and attentive throughout my meal. To start, I ordered the fried chicken dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious. Let's just say they disappeared... quickly. For my entrée, I ordered Grandma's Pork & Rice, which is exactly what I had been craving. I tried to pace myself because I wanted to save some for later, but that pork is just too good. It's always unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Somehow it tastes exactly as good as I remember every single time. One feature that's always fun at Food Terminal is the little robots that help deliver the food to your table. The robots bring out your meals while the servers take care of your drinks, and it's always a fun touch that makes the experience a little more memorable. Speaking of drinks... I had an oolong tea, a Diet Coke, and a glass of water because, for whatever reason, I always seem to need three beverages in front of me. Overall, this visit was exactly what I was hoping for. Great food, friendly service, convenient parking, and the perfect way to satisfy a very specific craving. I'll definitely be back--especially because I still need to circle back and order the wings again.
I have always seen this place but never went inside so my boyfriend and I took the time to make our way here. In a shopping center with TONS of parking sits food terminal! It's an asian restaurant food that offers seating inside and outside. Once we entered we were seated immediately and handed menus. Their menus are super cool and unique and are a bit overwhelming but nevertheless full of so much variety. The waitress was very sweet and checked in on us periodically and helped us fill out our sheet to place our order. We ordered a plethora of stuff such as crispy bulgogi bao buns, brushed sprouts, steamed dumplings, mango chicken and a noodle plate. Food didn't take long for it to come out on their little robot and staff helped put everything on the table. Everything smelled and looked amazing so it was tough to decide what to taste first! I first tried the crispy bao bun and was blown away by the flavor it had! It was like a mini burger. After that I tried the steamed dumplings and they were so yummy and specially with the sauce. Next I tried the Brussels sprouts and they were necessary my cup of tea but still good! Just wouldn't order again. Second to last thing I tried the mango chicken and man was it good!!! Full of the best aroma and flavor and cooked to perfection. The plating was also gorgeous as well!! We finished off with mango sticky rice and It was good but I do wish it had more mango to help the ratio. Overall, it was a really good visit and I was excited to try it out. It was a bit pricey but we did order a lot so it may be a special occasion once we come back again but I'd definitely be back!
My Family came for anan early Thursday dinner and were immediately seated. Parking was easy to find. We enjoyed the steamed chicken dumplings and fried okra with mango dipping sauce for appetizers. Both were delicious! The wonton soup has a large serving of shrimp wontons. Son ordered the lychee green tea with boba which he liked. I got the Michelin recommended honey butter shrimp with garlic noodle which came with a tasty sweet sauce. My daughter said that their mango sticky rice was her favorite of all places. We liked the little robot which talked and carried hot food to our table. Our server was super kind especially when we had a large food spill. Service was outstanding!
Food Terminal has become one of my "go to's" for a delicious meal. The cuisine is described as Malaysian street food and they have tons of items to choose from. They share a parking lot with several other businesses, but the parking is free and I've never had an issue finding a space. I've been here quite a few time over the years. Although they have an expansive menu, my favorite things to order are the grandma wonton bbq pork with tossed noodles and the roti with chicken curry. The mango shrimp are delicious as well. They also have tasty cocktails. There's even a robot that comes around to deliver food to the table. I've always received pleasant customer service and I'd totally recommend coming here for a tasty meal.
It's been a hot minute since I've been to Food Terminal, but I came back with a group if friends and had a decent time. It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper
When in ATL we like to stop by, this time we did the usual Thai chili chicken Chong fun, a beef bulgogi bao, salted egg yolk garlic noodle and zhaCai pan mee noodle. Service was good never overwhelming here. Food went down a notch sadly. The bao was overly sweet and beef, too minced. Chong fun was great again, garlic noodle while shrimp were salty and good the dish needed more sauce. The saddest was my entree ZhaCai (mushroom based) noodle dish. It just lacked flavor, even salt at home didn't fix.
Food Terminal is one of my favorite restaurant spots around Atlanta. They are now on the Michelin Guide and rightfully so. Their food is extremely tasty and they have a huge variety. They are both vegetarian and vegan friendly with lots of options. My favorite today was the unagi bao. My go-to favorites are the garlic butter shrimp noodles and Grandma's BBQ Pork. Although I did not drink today, they have great cocktail options as well. This location is accessible with plenty of parking. There was plenty of seating for midday on a Sunday. The waiters are friendly and efficient, and they use these robot machines to help bring food to your table. It's a fun experience and the food comes out quickly.
Yelp is one of the only places left where people read about food... so I'm here to write about it. This spot has been on my list forever, and I quickly understood what makes it special on my first try. I'm 100% here for the 腸粉 cheung fun in bold, fusion flavors. While not as layered and delicate as what I've had in Malaysia and Hong Kong, it definitely satiated the craving. Sure, I ordered at least 6 dishes here, but nothing comes close to their cheung fun. Will be back to try every flavor. I sat outdoors for a classic hawker vibe. No one got the memo or understood the assignment, as ususal. After seeing so much fuss about Food Terminal online, I avoided it for almost a year. I FINALLY visited and figured out that the influencers they hired just didn't get the memo, as usual. This is because businesses don't promote with foodies that actually understand the cuisine. So sad, but at least I FINALLY went here!
Just down right love this place. First time was an about 5 or 6 years ago and loved it and then forgot about it. The first of the year we decided to return and glad we did. Have since been three more times. The last trip a couple of weeks ago we dragged a couple of friends and they fell in love with Food Terminal. This is the way to go try Food Terminal...you get lots of different tastes if you go with the correct people!!! We arrived a bit after 1:00PM so that some of the lunch crowds had thinned. We asked for a seat with that might be a little quieter and it was. Service is always great. Ask and they deliver. How nice. We sat over to one side closer to the windows and the noise level was fine. Then there was the ordering of food. We wanted everything. We settled on the Honey Butter Shrimp on a Salad, the Grandma BBQ Pork on Noodles with Egg, Fried Calamari with a Mango Sauce, an order of Fried Wontons, Pork Belly Crispy Bao, and Shiitake Mushroom Cheong Fun. Everything was perfect. And all agreed that the best and favorite dish was the Honey Butter Shrimp. The Pandan sauce that accompanies this fried shrimp is to die for. I could eat it with a spoon. The fried Calamari was some of the best we have had. The texture was perfect...not too chewy and the mango sauce only enhanced the taste. Both my wife and I were a little leery of the garlic noodles but they were only enhanced by a small hint of garlic making them almost addictive. Service was great. Not rushed at all. A nice leisurely lunch. Prices are somewhat reasonable when looking at the quality of ingredients, the portion size and today's costs. Highly recommend and will definitely return.
Arrived here, not knowing this place was Michelin guide in 2024. Had high expectations when we found out, but our experience was let down by overly salted dishes or lack of flavors in others. No wait on a Monday afternoon. - Hot Tea $3.5: Was given two cups of hot water which was nice, as were able to split the tea bag into two uses. Strong GT flavor. - Penang Prawn $16.95: I liked how there was both rice thin noodles and egg thin noodles. Fish cake and prawns were yummy. Broth itself lacked flavor and was not memorable. - Egg Yolk Brussel Sprouts $8.95: good flavor and crisp, but on the saltier end. - Curry Spare Ribs w Rice $19.95: Fall off the bone, but the sauce was also salty ): - Shrimp Bone Marrow $16.95: Similar egg noodles to the penang. I did like the broth of this better, although it wasn't as rich as I hoped. Egg was perfect boiled with a runny center. No fresh chilis here, just chili oil which had a nice kick. Accidentally indicated the wrong dish on the menu but I feel this could have been avoided if servers confirmed the order before submitting it. Our waitress was good tho. I would still consider coming back here to give this place another shot as they have an extensive menu (I was surprised to see how thick they're menu was lol)
Came back to try some of their more famous foods (and why they're michelin recommended)! I got the garlic bone marrow noodle soup. The soup was warming and refreshing. The restaurant is freezing cold though, so doing soup was a good choice. The Szechuan bone marrow soup was also really good and not very spicy. It just has the typical chili oil flavor but wasn't too spicy. I'd get that next time. We shared some beef fried rice because the server said it was large. It was a large portion. Oily and flavorful.
As soon as that highly regarded M word pops up, I can't help but sound the skepticism alarm. Whether it's Michelin star or in this case Michelin guide choice, this recognition isn't an easy one to achieve. Food Terminal comes with a lot of hype, but is it worth it? Uhhhhh yes, yes it is. Simply put, the food is exceptional. I actually didn't want to write a review until I was able to make multiple trips and try a few different items. It's a massive menu. But From the appetizers, to the soups, to the noodles, they can do no wrong. The depth of flavor in the curry noodle soup to the fry of the calamari or shrimp....its technically beyond reproach. The honey butter garlic shrimp noodle is the stuff dreams are made of. At least my dreams. How they were able to create such bold flavors in such a simple dish is incredible. Easy to see why this dish received the Michelin recognition. I'd seriously pay big money to learn this recipe! In my opinion, Food Terminal is in contention for the best Asian dining spot in America, period.
It's been a long time since we're came here last. This day we were nearby and decided to drop in. We tried the garlic noodles and the unagi bao to share. I loved the garlic noodles a lot. The salted egg yolk shrimp were DELICIOUS!! I would go there for it again. Unfortunately my half of the unagi bao only had a small piece of bacon and some cucumber slices. No unagi at all while my husband's half was 100% unagi and cucumber. So he got the full flavor, I got full carbs. read more

It is a lovely atmosphere to walk in from the front door... clean and sharp lines in a very open space. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon (dining here was on our list) and while the restaurant was sparsely attended at noon, the other stores in the strip mall were packed and it made parking a little tricky. The spots are quite small. We order a sundry of items off of the menu and I thought they were good. Certainly tried some new dishes. My favorite was the spicy chili chicken wontons. I could have eaten all eight of them myself. The cheong fun spicy chicken was beautiful but not a favorite. We debated which one of the salted egg yolk dishes to get- a preparation I had never tried- and landed on the fried shrimp and garlic noodles. It was good... we ordered two orders of roti- four pieces total- and that was a bit disappointing serving size wise for the three of us. Our server was lovely and the food came out hot and well spiced. I will return and make some additional choices from the menu. read more

I ordered 6 hours brisket noodle. It was not tasted like it has been cooked for 6 hours, it was so chewy. And soup noodle was so salty. The waitress said that is the way it is. The food quality was very good several years ago. Now it is nothing like it was. Do not eat there. It is not worth it. read more

Food Terminal is one of those spots that just hits--whether you're craving street food-style comfort or something a little more adventurous. First off, parking is easy and free (hallelujah), and the space is huge with both indoor and patio seating, which makes it perfect for groups or casual hangouts. The menu? Massive. But don't worry--they've got photos for almost every dish, which makes it easier to explore all the different flavors. Plus, they have a full cocktail and alcohol menu and bubble teas, so you're covered whether you're in the mood to sip or slurp. We ordered the roti canai (so flaky and buttery), honey butter shrimp (crispy, sweet, and addictive), nasi lemak with beef curry (super flavorful), kimchi rolling hot plate (served sizzling hot!), and the Szechuan steamed wontons (a spicy, mouthwatering bite). Every dish was on point. Also love that it's on the Michelin guide--it's well deserved. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Chamblee area and want something tasty, fast, and fun. My daughter and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. The menu is a book but the pictures help a lot. I ordered the Grandma's BBQ Pork Fried Rice and my daughter had the Grandma's Wonton BBQ Pork Tossed Noodle. We also had the Steamed Chicken Dumplings as an appetizer. We enjoyed everything as all the food had great flavor! The waitress was very not very attentive. We waited quite a while just to ask for water and to order a beverage. My daughter had the Strawberry Peach Black Tea. We will definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

This is one of my favorite go to restaurants in the city. The food is flavorful, fresh and delicious! My usual dishes are Grandma's Pork Tossed Noodle or the Curry Tofu Noodle Soup, but you can't go wrong here. Overcome your preconceived notions of Asian food. Try it all. The service can be spotty but usually very good. It depends on the crowd and the server. This is a great place for groups and they do serve dishes family style. You just have to tell your friends that aren't familiar with that concept that we all buy several dishes and share. I do have friends that still want to get the mango dish and eat it all themself. Food Terminal is one of my regular spots, and this visit reminded me why I keep coming back. The food is consistently solid, but the service really made the difference this time. Our server, Lia, was wonderful--super patient, always smiling, and really helpful when it came to recommending dishes. She took the time to explain options, and her suggestions were spot on. Food-wise, everything hit the mark. The pig ears were surprisingly good with great texture and flavor. The Garlic Bone Marrow Noodle Soup was rich and comforting, and the Herbal Spare Ribs had a really nice, well-balanced herbal taste. Consistently good food, a comfortable vibe, and service like this are why Food Terminal continues to be a neighborhood favorite for me. read more

I came here once before to meet a friend after work and had an enjoyable experience so I decided to come back. It's located in the same lot as the farmers market near Chamblee Tucker Rd and Buford Hwy, and there are many others businesses so there is plenty of parking. They do have steps and ramp access to the restaurant which is very convenient for those that can't use the stairs. They also have a patio area if you want to sit outdoors and enjoy the weather. Once you enter, there is a sign that says wait to be seated. I was immediately greeted and I asked if I could sit at the bar and was told I could sit anywhere at the bar. The greeter brought me a dessert, drink, and food menu. The bar faces the kitchen which is open so you can see the workers cooking and the bar stools do not have a back so keep that in mind if you choose to sit at the bar. Axel came over immediately and introduced himself and brought a plate, napkins, chop sticks, and a fork. Their menu is huge! I told Axel I wanted something spicy. He recommended the wontons as an appetizer and schezuen beef noodle so that is exactly what I ordered with a sprite. He brought a water and a Sprite and the fried wontons came out a few minutes after. The friend wontons were good but were not spicy at all, like they advertised. The two sauces that came with them weren't spicy either. The Szechuan beef noodle on the other hand was spicy and had just the right amount of kick. I drunk the broth and then ate some of the noodle and beef and took the rest home. The beef was tender and although the soup was good, I wouldn't order it again. It's only noodles, beef, and green onion in a spicy broth. I missed the egg and vegetables so will definitely order something different with more fixings. The soup did help me feel better because I felt I was getting a cold. There is a robot that they utilize to help serve food and drinks, which I thought was pretty cool. Axel was kind enough to put my food in the container for me. So if you are looking for a restaurant with a variety of Asian food, this is the place to go to. read more
Food Terminal in Doraville GA has always been a favorite date spot. I've been here a handful of times and each time, I am always left satisfied. They have a wide range of curry, thai, and even authentic chinese food. The employees are always attentive, helpful and considerate. If you're in the local area, give Food Terminal a try! Sooo Delicious! First off the menu is so extensive and they have soo many options to chose from. I ordered the Honey Butter Shrimp Garlic noodles which was so delicious as well as the Tom Yum Rolling Hot Plate which was also tasty. I ordered to go but the food was still fresh and tasted amazing. The food, service, and ambiance were all 10/10! We were greeted and seated immediately upon entry. It took us a few seconds to understand the menu and how to complete the order form, especially since we were a party of four splitting into two separate checks. The Black Strawberry Tea was refreshingly delicious! My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Grandma's Pulled Pork, and I loved the Curry Chicken dish! both were packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. Michelin Guide recommended restaurant serving delicious Malaysian food. Definitely recommend taking a look at the menu because it is a book. There are so many options to choose from. It's a very large exterior, perfect for solo dining sitting at the countertop area or large group dining. Food is brought out quickly. Service is friendly, and they also have a robot waiter. On my recent visit, I had the garlic noodles, which are absolutely delicious. Love the garlic sauce, and I just had it with the mushrooms and spinach, which was perfect. The samosas are vegetarian with a curry dipping sauce. They're just okay, but good, and I also had the Chinese broccoli, which had a wonderful flavor. The star vegetables were the brussels sprouts. It was so crispy and packed full of flavor. On top of the great service, delicious foods, the prices are pretty reasonable. I definitely recommend checking it out. If you haven't been or if it's been a while, go ahead and visit again. It's in a shopping plaza, so you shouldn't have trouble finding a parking spot. Food was surprisingly good given how large their menu is. The menu is basically a whole book in it of itself. We tried the chicken roti, a spicy tossed noodle dish with mushroom, the cheong fun, shrimp wontons, and the 6 hour braised beef. Everything was very tasty though a tad on the oily side. Perhaps this was a product of our dish selection as many of our dishes contained lots of chili oil. I loved the tossed noodles! I wasn't super involved with the ordering, so I'm not sure which one we tried. It was slightly spicy and I really enjoyed the mushrooms. A tad salty but super flavorful! The braised beef was very soft, and the roti was warm and buttery. For dessert we ordered the mango sticky rice. This was very tasty. I wish they topped it with sesame seeds or perhaps crispy rice. Overall, I would return to food terminal. Their menu is very extensive- a great choice for people who are indecisive- so many different Asian cuisines all at one restaurant! read more

What a carefully created menu. Even the menu card is so well thought through, with pictures and explanation of the roots of the dish. Every time I go I try to try something different but I'm always just drawn by this beautiful bowl of laksa. There's plenty of seating but there's always a huge crowd. Service is fast. read more

Came back for another try, and everything I had was delicious! There are several different options for "grandma's bbq" and I'm sure they're all great bc my noodle bowl definitely was! Starting with the interior, the decor is modern, chic, and very spacious. The quality of service was good, and I thought that their prices were quite competitive relative to other Asian fusion restaurants when you consider the quality of food, service, and ambiance. I saw that Food Terminal was listed on the Michelin guide, so I had pretty high expectations. My friend ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice and liked it. I ordered the Honey Butter Garlic Shrimp Noodles and liked it as well. However, the garlic flavor was slightly overpowering, and I could hardly taste the honey aspect of the dish. We also ordered boba as a dessert, though they did run out of honey boba and had to give us crystal boba for one of our drinks instead (which was ok with us). I also noticed that their cups were from Sweet Hut, so I'm not too sure if that is where they get their boba from. The flavors and portions were good, but I will say I was slightly underwhelmed given that my expectations were very high. Their menu looked quite extensive, so I'd be willing to come back and try out more of their dishes. read more

Shrimp garlic noodles - really good and what got them the michelin rec. perfectly fried shrimp and flavorful garlic noodles that had good chew. Beef rendang nasi lemak: flavorful and good although wanted some dried anchovies for some crunch as I've had in nasi lemak in the past. Not sure how authentic this version is but maybe you can put a variety of things in. Roti canai with chicken curry: really good, wished there was more roti given to supplement the amount of curry & daal. Watercress spinach: good flavor, quite Chinese. It is a bit hard to eat bc it gets so tangled up. Need to chew a lot. Overall would def return to try other items! read more
It's been awhile since I've returned. This is my second time here. We did come in Mother's Day afternoon and waited about 20 minutes. Service was a little slow we didn't get checked on much if any. The food is Malaysian cuisine if you which is a marry of different flavors. Ambiance is cool very busy. A lot food options for vegetarians and meat eaters. Portion size to share or for self eaters. Drinks were good as well! read more

Patios at Chamblee, yes. Heaters, no.
Do they take reservations?
They do not. I've used Yelp's waitlist option in the past but it's not always there (maybe only when they're super busy)

There are vegan options but they are limited to vegetables and rice. Stay away from the yong tofu as it is filled with ground meat mixture or fish paste. The ginger rolling hot plate is a good vegan option.
Is there anything truly vegetarian (no animal broth or products other than egg or dairy)?
Well truly vegetarian would be vegan and I don't think they carry anything vegan on their menu
Is there a to go menu?
Yes, their To Go menu is a 4-panel folded pamphlet available from any server. The menu lists everything and shows pictures of select items.
Does Food Terminal offer gluten free options?
