Hopstix is not in my hood but is definitely a destination spot for me regardless. I really do love it here. First off, really unique and inspired beers, it's a brewery for sure. But nothing at all other than the beer list makes it feel 'brewery', it's very much an upscale interior, fanstic layout of sushi bar, regular bar, open air dining and outdoor patio. The food - wow. very unique flavor profiles, hearty, lots of great options between samplers, sushi, and main courses. Pro Tip - if you feel overwhelemed about the menu, most of the staff that i meet here know it very well and have worked here for a very long time, so feel free to ask, we were suprised by such a good selection of options by our bartender. read more

The interior has an open concept - cool to see in open view the whole kitchen. Fresh seafood and sushi. All made/prepped in house. The hand rolls were great, as well as shrimp roll, which had interesting curry fries that came along it, which I thought was nice. I didn't try any of the noodle type dishes so can't comment on those. I enjoyed it! However.... The dessert was horrible. Overpriced gas station dessert (actually, gas station dessert is probably better and cheaper). All brought in from an outside commercial vendor/wholesaler (confirmed upon asking). Specifically, I ordered 2 desserts: one resembling something like a creme brûlée and one that was a layered chocolate cake/tart. Both were shockingly bad, and you don't want that especially after a good meal. Maybe they were old? This place is close to the Chamblee MARTA station and that was why I chose to get lunch here after a trip downtown. The dining room was busy but not crowded. I was able to get a table right away. It was well lighted and there was some soft background music, plus TVs over the bar showing sports. I ordered a beer and the Katsu Curry. The beer was very good, a nice fizzy crisp beer. The curry was a large bowl with rice and shredded cabbage at the bottom and some curried vegetables alongside the panko crusted chicken breast sliced beautifully on top. Everything tasted great. I hate to say it, but I got horrible food poisoning from this establishment. The experience started off great, we had wonderful drinks. I got the Imperial Jasmine Tea which was very yummy. We had the pork belly bao buns which tasted wonderful. Then, I ordered a fried oyster sandwich with fries and my husband had the Pork Vermecelli. Unfortunately the sandwich not only tasted bad but then made me very ill the bext day. Given this was the only dish I had differently from my husband who refused to eat it, I know it was the cause... A friend hosted her birthday celebration in their private dining room, and I must say--it was flawless from start to finish. The entire evening was beautifully laid out. I was so caught up in great conversation and laughter with friends that I completely forgot to take photos of the food! The menu was served buffet style and featured a delicious spread: flavorful fried rice,, fresh salads, perfectly crispy Korean fried wings, and savory pork belly--just to name a few. We were looking for something close to Piju Belly. This definitely exceeded our expectations. They have a decent size parking lot, but it is one way one way and one way out. The atmosphere definitely aligned with Pan-Asian gastropub energy. Our waitress was extremely friendly and made some great recommendations however, we never got her name as she never mentioned it. We ordered the Nam Tok. It essentially was cold beef with cucumber and greens. They did have cilantro which she didn't disclose so I was a little bit disappointed, but it didn't take away from it too much. The fish crackers paired very well with this. I've never had fried shrimp and waffles so I wanted to try this. The taste of it all paired well from the coconut mint dip, the spicy shrimp, and the batter that the waffles were cooked in. Lastly, paired it off with some of the salted caramel cheesecake, which was as great as it looked. Definitely five out of five. I am looking forward to coming back. read more

What a fun little restaurant! I will admit that I was a little concerned because I'm not a huge fan of sushi and this is definitely an Asian fusion kinda place. We went for lunch and had no issues, but I can imagine that on evenings or weekends parking is a little tight. On the inside, I love the open kitchen concept. We placed our order and the food came out quick and extremely fresh. I ordered the pork belly tacos and added a little garlic/chili sauce. They were flippin' amazing. After we had told the person at the front we had made reservations he made us wait and asked us again if we made reservations as if it was the first time talking to us.. DDH kung fu hops -- alcohol drink: There was a slight bitter taste to this, but then again it is beer. Haha. If you're into IPA's, then this is sort of similar. Matcha rice and shine -- alcohol drink: Despite it being alcoholic, it was very tasty. There was a slight sweetness that made the pick very palatable. Crispy oyster katsu sandwich: This appear to be an interesting food pick, but it ended up being not too stellar. It was listed as a seasonal flavor so it sounded more appealing than it actually was. It was all around too fried imo. And with it being oyster pieces, it wasn't a clean sandwich to keep altogether. Super bowl: This bowl had a little bit of everything that's ever so good. Consistency is key. This place has offered the same quality in both food and service since I have been coming. My go to is the Robata Grill items. You can it allows you to try different items on the menu at a decent price point. Others in my group were enticed by the tacos they saw at another table. They loved them. They also got the dumplings, which can come either steamed or grilled, and liked those as well. The restaurant itself offers great vibes. Food here is so flavorful! We got the beef short rib & pork belly skewers and they were surprisingly really tender. The beef had a slight sweetness to it, and the pork had a nice salty taste. The curry fries tasted like the boxed curry sauce just in powder form over normal cut fries. It's a solid choice especially with the dipping sauce of spicy mayo. The dining area is so pretty, I love the openness of the kitchen connected to the dining area. The wait though took a little long for the time we went, it was mid afternoon, not busy at all, and it felt like we had to stare down someone to just order. Cool spot, have been meaning to try this place for awhile! Basically Asian fusion cuisine meets brewery! Parking can be a PITA but well worth the walk. It's a tight squeeze in their main lot so I'd go to one of the others. Decent space indoors and a nice outdoor area. I ordered two flights and really like the variety here. The Thai spaghetti with tofu was really good and was not expecting that to go so well with the beer. The Identity Crisis beer was pretty close to a Budweiser/coors light mix, and enjoyable. My fav was the Wit Jammin. No complaints on this trip! Love when a brewery serves up great food and has a good variety of decent tasting beer. I've been to hopsticks a couple of times now and it is a pretty solid joint. They do Asian fusion kind of mixed in with the brewery type feel I've had quite a few of their dishes. I've attended a private event here where one of the rooms in the back was booked out and then I've come here on just a regular evening for dinner. I think all their food is solid. Really impressed by their small plates and appetizers. I think they have their strengths here over the bigger dishes. Some highlights that I really like are the calamari, popcorn chicken, the pork belly tacos, and the curry fries. I have pretty high standards when it comes to Asian fusion so this place at least hit all the right notes. It didn't blow me away which is why I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely would come back for a casual vibe and hang out with friends. I'm not much of a beer drinker so I can't comment on those, but they've got adequate parking, service is decent and the shareables are delicious. read more

So the basal fried rice is look good I have to go ahead and spend the block on it. It was still solid the second time around. Ended up getting the burger as well. It kind of sucks that the burger doesn't come with anything, no french fries call me after order that separately off the appetizing menu. But the burger was still good though! It was pre-shaped but it came out super flavorful. Like it didn't need any catch up or may or anything like that on it. Okay for lunch time and it was pretty cool, that was really nobody there, so I got immediate attention. I actually noticed a music was playing in the background, so at least I have something going for setting the ambience of it. We had a party of 3 at 7:30 on a Tuesday in July. There was a 20 minute wait. Very fun vibes. The café lighting outside is so cute. We didn't get any beer or cocktails this time and the last time I had it was 3 years ago, so I can't comment on that! But we did get food. Here's what we got: - Curry Fries ($7): Very good. The fries were perfectly crisp on the outside. - Tuna Tataki Salad ($16): Very good. Huge portion. - Tuna Tartare ($18): Wouldn't get this again. Small portion. For $18 and not enough for a full meal, it's not worth it to me. We all shared the Curry I split the Tuna Tataki Salad and the Tuna Tartare with my friend. The Tuna Tataki Salad was definitely the better of the two. Overall, we all enjoyed our meals. I would definitely go back to Hopstix! Made a stop into Hopstix one early evening and what a great choice. I feel like if you blink, you may miss this gem! Lucky for me, I was looking for it and found my way. Parking was super easy although it's not a large lot. I got a prime spot and there were still more available for other guests who would be filing in for the evening shift. If it wasn't so chilly, I would have happily taken a seat on their cute patio but now I can look forward to returning in the summer to really enjoy it. I opted to sit inside at the bar and was pleasantly surprised and how chill it was inside. There were a number of folks at the bar, but the bartender was a sweetheart and so attentive the entire time. I'm always super indecisive when I see a great menu and like to ask for suggestions from the team. I was in luck because I got some great reccs from the bartender! I grabbed a bear and went with some tapas including the Pork Belly, street corn and the blistered Shishito peppers. Yummmmm all around!!! The portions were plentiful and I loved that there was salt on the side of the peppers so that guests could season to their liking. I'm hyped to return for a full meal and some more beers. One of my favorite semi casual fusion spots. Ambiance is always fun, a good mix of younger and older crowds. This place gets packed on the weekends and after work hours. The raw fish is never fishy and I love coming for their Tuna Thursdays for that exact reason. Creative fusion dishes that aren't just creative for the heck of it - actually taste good. Must gets for me are always the pork belly yakitori, the collar yakitori (it sells out quick), and the hamachi. The yakitori is smoky and juicy every time. Hopstix is a great choice for a night out with friends or a date night. ***NOTE*** Parking can be difficult as there is side parking and spots in the back but not a large, dedicated lot. * Initial thoughts: Well-lit brewery and dining spot that is very spacious with great staff and management. * Service Our server was kind and attentive. She had great and thoughtful recommendations. * Food: The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the shishito peppers which tasted great and is a nice option for a quick snack (although you don't get much). For our main course, I ordered the Basil Fried Rice which was fantastic. The spot is seemingly Indonesian inspired as the fried rice was crispy and was very reminiscent of Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice). I loved every bit of it. However, I ordered it with Tofu and for the upcharge in price for the protein, it's definitely not worth it. I can't attest for the meat additions. My girlfriend ordered two items - Tuna Tartare - which she enjoyed but towards the end of the night, ended up being too much to eat at once. (She didn't want fishy leftovers). And she paired it with the Miso Pumpkin Bisque which she fell in love with. Highly recommended! It was a lot thicker than she anticipated so she filled up quick. No dessert or drinks were ordered though there was an enticing selection of cocktails. * Summary Hopstix is a great, versatile restaurant with a large selection food, cocktails, wine, and beer. The place has a great vibe and is a must if you enjoy Asian food. I would love to make this an occasional spot we go to regularly. Bad service for a first time customer. I was really excited to this place but the service was so bad I only had a drink and left. I waited about 10 minutes before anyone took my drink order and it was the server that was leaving for the day. She was very nice and is the only reason I could give two stars. One she left it was about 10 minutes before I anyone asked if I wanted to order food. It was not busy at all so I have no idea why the service was so lackluster but I didn't feel good about spending any more money there beyond the drink I ordered. read more
