Every taco we tried was delicious and packed with its own unique taste. The homemade corn tortillas really made a difference. I loved that they brought out a variety of sauces . The fish taco was probably my favorite crispy and flavorful. The atmosphere was casual. The bartenders were also incredibly friendly and helpful. The only downside was the drinks. They tasted great, but they were definitely a little weaker than I expected. read more

As someone who stays in TX full time, after seeing photos of Wahaka I was already excited to go, and let me say these are some of the TOP tacos on my list. Parking is available directly in front and to the side of the establishment. Each taco we ordered was full of delicious well seasoned meat and the food came fresh, and QUICKLY. We went on Saturday evening and the place was lively, the indoor seating still had availability but the patio was pretty full, with lots of conversation and music playing. The weather was nice and warm, and there were no BUGS which was a major plus! Our server was fast she took our drink order and returned with a complimentary variety of salsas. We got two bottled beverages, cheese dip, and four tacos 2 ribeye tacos on flour tortillas (these had some thin fried onions on top), a fried Baja fish taco, and a volcan (cheese crusted) Al pastor taco, and an order of Mexican rice. All the tacos are served with cilantro, diced onions, and grilled onions on the side! For the price point the tacos are sizable and overall it was a great meal, glad I could make it here! read more

I've been here twice now and honestly really enjoy it! I always like sitting outside because the patio area is really nice. They also have a huge TV and fans going outside, which I know a lot of people would love. Our server is always really friendly and informative! She actually suggested I get the barbacoa pollo taco with crusted cheese added to it and honestly... she was right because it was REALLY good. I also tried the baja fish and trompo al pastor tacos, but the baja fish was definitely my favorite. And those cebollines... ugh SO so good. My friend ordered the volcane (corn tostada, beans, crusted cheese, onion, cilantro, tomatoes, avocado) and she said it was really good, even though it was just a tad bit oily. The assorted salsas and cheese dip were also a solid start to the meal and everything had really good flavor overall. 10/10 love this place! The service was awesome and I love how they had different onions on the side! The ambiance isn't anything fancy which makes it even better. The food came out quick and the prices were great! The shrimp tostado has to be eaten quickly as it has a tomato base but I loved their taco and crunchy cheese. The vibes are great for a date night or happy hour. Lots of patio seating. Al pastor tacos were delicious but I had mixed feelings about this spot. Service was just ok. Our server spoke fast and not loud enough so we couldn't hear her well over the loud music. Service is also very slow, took awhile to get our food. Finished our drinks and chips before our food got here. Husband enjoyed his burrito. Lengua taco didn't seem like the lengua we had in the past...this tasted like pulled pork to us? I liked the fish taco. Al pastor was my favorite though with the nice contrast from the pineapple. I was excited to try the churros for dessert but they weren't available so I opted for the tres leches. It was just ok...it was rock hard in the center from being frozen. I don't know why but I judge every Mexican restaurant by their chips and queso and Wahaka passes! The chips are fresh and crispy, and the queso is creamy and delicious. I usually stop in just to pick up an order of chips and queso , but finally decided to dine in and try the tacos, delicious! The carne asada was so tender and flavorful I ate it so fast and forgot to take a picture, and the fish taco was the best I've ever had, perfectly crisp, well-seasoned, and hot. Great service, Mexican Coke in the bottle, and walking distance from my house. The dining area is not very cozy but the food makes up for it. I'll be back! read more

I've been seeing Wahaka all over my Instagram lately and it looked sooo good, so I decided to stop by after my wax appointment since it's in the same plaza. But y'all... the hype was false The food was just okay to me. I ordered steak, al pastor, and chorizo tacos with a side of Mexican rice. The steak was super dry, the al pastor was really greasy, and the rice was undercooked hard and kinda bland. The sauces were also a little watered down, which was disappointing. BUT I'll give credit where it's due the service was amazing! I went during lunch when it was packed, and the servers still didn't forget about me once. Super friendly and attentive. One thing though... the music was so loud! It felt more like a mini club than a lunch spot. Overall, great service but the food didn't live up to the hype for me. read more

I'd seen a few posts on TikTok about Wahaka and decided to stop in one Saturday evening. It was busy, but i didn't have to wait too long to be seated. I wanted the cucumber pineapple margarita, but was informed that they were out so I got a watermelon margarita instead. It was good. To eat, I ordered the al pastor and Baja fish tacos with a side of esquites. They bring out 6 different sauces, which I really enjoyed. Both tacos were really flavorful. Loved our dinner here a few weeks ago! A causal spot with some great food. I loved the tray of salsas that they give you. The volcan de pollo was so good and the portion sizes were a good size for the price! The queso was yummy as well. I didn't get a drink, but the margs sounded so good. They also only have bottled water, but it was a fair price. Parking was super easy. We didn't have any issues getting a table when we came in, but it was quite crowded! This is a nice little place that popped up. It's in a shopping area and it's free parking. Indoor and outdoor seating is available so you can basically decide where you want to be by the weather. If it's nice, the patio area is covered and everything. They are tables on the inside,kind of a picnic style situation...nothing fancy. There is a bar top type seating area too,not a full bar,but you can sit up higher if you want. When you sit down, you will get greeted with a litany of different sauces to try. They come in little metal ramekins so you can taste and see which ones you like. This is actually pretty cool. They do have alcohol there even though it's not a full-bar situation. So if you come in to get some drinks in you, you can actually do this as well. Also, if you don't want to drink, just be aware that you will be served bottled water and not tap water and that does incur a fee. It's not like it's major, like a dollar for a bottle of water, but don't think you just going to come in and get a bunch of free water. With the food I wish they would have explained the sauces right out the gate. I actually had to guess and try all the sauces before I figure out which one I liked or didn't like. Not that it's the end of the world, but you just throw the sauces in front of somebody without explaining what they are, especially because there are six different sauces, that's a thing for me. Papas madhucadas - basically smashed potatoes ..which were not too bad. For $5 you got a nice amount. They didn't have as much in the topping department but they did pretty good and I would order again. Trompo al pastor (volcano) - so looks like a volcano is an open faced taco .... The shell is floor and melted cheese...it's a great combo. This one had the toppings falling over, in a good way though. Really good. Chamlechano (taco) - this was a solid choice. The meat was tender and juicy and didn't necessarily need the sauce...tho I did it anyway lol Chicharron carnitas (volcano) - the protein in this one was really good and savory. Just the right amount of fat to add to the flavor. Would recommend Barbacoa pollo (Taco) - this taco was okay, it wasn't out of the box or blow your socks off, there were some better options Overall, this was a pretty good stop here. The tacos were bigger than anticipated and they were pretty filling and very flavorful. I kind of wish there was a happy hour here but I guess they are still getting acclimated. Pronounced just like their other restaurant Oaxaca, on Old Norcross Road, but with an English translation flare to it, it seems. This place is really good. Everything from the vibe of the place with the music and energy, to the attentive service, to the fresh meat, Wahaka does not disappoint. I have been twice and both times have really enjoyed it. The place is still new, but they have been crowded both times I have been. Granted, the place is not very big. We sat outside both times when it was 95+ degrees outside. They did a great job with the fans outside and it was cool and provides a refreshing feel even on hot days, so do not let the weather steer you away from sitting outside. All of the meats they offer have been fresh, flavorful, and delicious. They provide generous portions on both the tacos and volcanes. The tacos are delicious, but the volcanes are what will keep me coming back. It is a cheesy tostada with whatever meat of your choice. They also come topped with beans and offer onion and cilantro on the side. By far the best one is the Al Pastor. Very flavorful and the pineapple on top is a perfect pairing. Definitely give it a try. I also really enjoyed the Chicharron de Carnitas, or fried pork belly. An original reservation that I had was that the chips and cheese dip are 8 dollars and the portion of chips vs. the huge bowl of cheese did not fit. However, we asked for more chips and they kept them coming out free of charge! The service has been attentive and very helpful on recommendations. First things first: this place feels like being in Mexico: loud music, caned sodas, bottle water, bottle beer, aguas frescas and a variety of tacos and other options. Let's talk about food; I ordered 3 tacos: Lengua: very plain, couldn't taste any flavor on the meet and had to add salsas, lime, etc to make it work. Baja: fried fish was overdone, and again, the main flavors came from the cabbage, onions, chipotle mayo... Pastor: my most anticipated one, do not make the mistake I did and order this as is (I asked for queso expecting queso asado, chihuahua or other), it came with the queso that is served as a dip, so... my whole taco tasted just like queso and it was heartbreaking. Churros: they're were "ok" in flavor, but felt a little soggy and oily. General: a good experience but expected more from the food itself. I would like to come back and grab "al pastor" tacos again (this time no cheese on it for sure). read more

My coworkers & I checked out this new restaurant today during lunch. We all ordered 1 taco, Mexican rice & Black beans. We were all satisfied with this portion of 3 items. I got the Barbacoa pollo tacos. Most of the tacos just come with onion & cilantro on the side so I highly recommend trying out their different provided sauces to add some flavor to your tacos. The Mexican Rice was delicious, I could have ordered another one to go. One of my coworkers got the Baja fish taco, she says it was gas (Gen-Z term for very good). My other coworker got the Carne asada taco. She said the steak was nice & juicy. She added the Guacamole sauce to her taco which she really liked. She mixed her beans & rice together in the same bowl and rated it 10/10. There's bar seating, inside & outside seating and a big screen TV inside. We wen to visit our favorite server who had started working here and am glad we did. The service and food was excellent. We had Asada Taco Asada and Barbacoa Chicken Volcanes Chile Toreado Rice Queso and Nachos Chile Toreado Everything was well seasoned and tasty. I got 10 Jalapeños for $3 on the Chile Toreado plate. I was expecting 3 or 4. They were hot, both taste and temperature. The sound level inside in quite loud. We are going to try outdoor seating on our next visit. My biggest issue is that they don't serve regular water or have fountain drinks. Water and soda is sold by the bottle, definitely a profit center for them. They also had no beer on tap, but it is coming soon. Even though they had bottled drinks, no diet sodas were available. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon. First time at Wahaka and I was impressed. It is a smaller establishment but has so much charm and character. We went during lunch time. There was no lunch rush. We were ablet to take our time. Our waiter was helpful in helping us decide what to order. At the time of our visit they did not have flour tortillas. The cheese dip and chips were good. The eggplant taco was good and esquite was tasty. The margaritas was by far the show stopper of the meal. I had the watermelon margarita and the passion fruit margarita. The passion fruit margarita was my favorite of the two. If I'm in the area again and need a quick bite I will definitely go back to Wahaka. read more

I love the atmosphere. There's a very chill patio with folding tables and chairs but it is what it is. Inside has some more decor but is pretty. The food was good and a bit different than your typical taco place. The volcán was fun to try and had a good amount of meat on it too. The chicharon was so crispy and good! The fish was also packed with lots of toppings and veges. I love that they give cilantro and onions on the side. They also had some many sauces to choose from! It was so fun trying all the different sauces, though I will say none of them were really that spicy. If you're in the mood for authentic delicious tasty exceptional Mexican tacos!! This is THE spot. I get the carne asada tacos with fried jalapeños and Jaimaica and it HITS! The staff is awesome and attentive. Super nice and friendly. The tacos are served authentically with chopped onions and cilantro on the side. They have their famous salsa's -which beautifully enhance the flavors of the tacos. I'm from LA and KNOW Mexican food--and so far this in the ONLY spot in the Dunwoody area that I can find. And I've tried several Mexican restaurants in the area. Oh boy this one was exciting!! After popping up on social media a ton over the past few weeks I just knew it was paid marketing by another low grade Atlanta restaurant. I finally found myself on that side of town and figured you know what let's play the game and check it out. Mind you I had 2 back up restaurants already in mind when they dropped the ball. We arrived and it was pretty empty, so we were greeted and quickly sat. It's a rather small restaurant but they have maybe 40 seats inside then about the same outside on a nice patio area which is where we decided to sit. We went on taco Tuesday which was 2 for 1 al pastor tacos. Based off most places $6 tacos come with a half scoop of meat so I figured let's order multiples to be safe. We ended up ordering al pastor tacos, esquites, carne asada valcanes, chicken quesadilla, and a suadero taco. The al pastor tacos were absolutely loaded with meat!! I mean 2 of those have more meat than what most places would give you on 5 or 6 tacos. The meat was juicy and flavorful as well as hot. I was very surprised with these considering 2 for 1 I thought they would be skimpy and they were not. The esquites... well the flavor was good but just way too much liquid. It was almost like a soup once mixed. Still delicious you just have to strain liquid off each bite or it gets super messy. The chicken quesadilla comes with a generous scoop of quac and again absolutely loaded with meat, and some really tasty looking smashed potatoes. While I didn't taste it the kids absolutely destroyed the entire plate and loved it. The suadero taco again like the pastor, absolutely loaded, tender, juicy meat with great flavor. Then the star of the show!! That damn carne asada valcane. WOW! This thing blew me away. The delicious mound of tender, juicy carne asada, the crispy slightly salty cheese, the light spread of beans I mean my giants thing sent me over the top. I can't remember the last time I've taken a bite of food and had to stop and just appreciate the moment of utter deliciousness but this one's one of those moments. On a taco Tuesday you could easy order 1 order of 2 for 1 and a valcane and be absolutely stuffed. Maybe spend $15 for an extremely delicious meal. Oh and let's not forget about the "salsa flight" they send out. 6 different sauces all tasty in their own way and something for everyone. Now of course part of the dinning experience is the service and I think that's slightly where they tripped up. I feel like with only like 2 other tables the service was a little spotty. Times we couldn't find the server or had to look for her. When we asked for things like limes for the tacos it took a while cause it the food to kind of get cold. We had to go ask for our bill. I was on my way to Rreal Tacos in chamblee when we saw this place. We decided to try it although we really like Rreal. Glad we tried it and tacos were very good. Like the way the tacos are presented with both raw onions and grilled on the side so you can add as much as you want to your taco. Also, serve sauces on the side which were good. Their Al Pastor taco was very good. Might be the best I've had in town. It didn't need any sauce and it had a whole slice of pineapple inside. Only complaint would be that it was chopped up very small. The pork belly taco was good not, great. It lacked any flavor outside the fatty pork. It definitely needed help with sauces. Chicken taco was good and carne asada was too. Only issue would be service. Waitress disappeared for long stretches of time including when we wanted the bill. Place wasn't very full at the time so, maybe when it's a little busier. I think the carnitas is better at Rreal and the Al Pastor is better here. Guess it depends on what you prefer. When I heard they had a trompo, I knew I had to find a reason to drive over here. I'm extremely picky about Al Pastor - I love it but almost never bother at any taqueria in Atlanta, or the Southeast for that matter. My wife headed over on a Thursday night and the place was pretty packed, with a just opened vibe. We sat on a pretty loud (from both people and really amped up speakers) patio, which is a little hard with a toddler. Our server immediately came to our table with a selection of six salsas that got me excited. The menu had a lot going on, but mostly traditional options of tacos, some burritos, enchiladas and the like. We started out with an order of queso and guac, as well as a cheese quesadilla for our toddler. We told our server we weren't quite ready for anything else, but she visited the table like clockwork every 3-5 minutes until we made our complete order, which was slightly annoying. The queso was great, obviously melted oaxaca cheese, with a mild slightly nutty nutmeg flavor. The guac was serviceable with a little heat, fresh avocado but lacking a little acid and salt. The six salsas I was so excited over were all immediately forgettable. Nothing was particularly hot - the verde just tasted like straight cilantro and everything was missing either a punch of acid or anything other than one note. I was really disappointed here, because I'm absolutely a salsa selection fiend - I will go anywhere I can pick something into a small cup. Tacos are probably the one food I'd nominate as my "eat only one thing on a desert island" choice, and that's not slathered with stuff - just really good meat, onions and cilantro, a squeeze of lime on a fresh made tortilla of any type. I went with 4 - a shaved ribeye on corn with some matchstick like potato, asada on flour, al pastor on corn and "chicken barbacoa", or why wouldn't you just call this "tinga", on flour. The food was quick to the table, so I started with the shaved ribeye. Interesting concept, but it just didn't work - the meat was completely unseasoned and the stringy fried potatoes were just really difficult to eat in taco form. In addition, nothing available on the table could save this unseasoned mess so I had to explicitly ask for the salt shaker - which totally breaks my heart when there are so many mediocre salsas to choose from. Next was the asada. If you ever done the cheap preseasoned chuck "street taco" kit from Kroger, you'll know exactly what this flavor is - however what can save that is to fry down the meat until it's ridiculously charred and crispy, which sounds criminal but that delicious seasoned drippings melts into the crust and is pure bliss. This, however was a lump of grey solid mass and just no. Hard pass. The "chicken barbacoa" was just chunks of tomato colored chicken with no flavor. Like none whatsoever. Last, the thing I came here for and I knew I was about to regret my decision - the al pastor. This was chunks of pork. Not charred, sliced little shavings. Where's that tromp? No where to be found. There was some nice little thin slices of pineapple on top, but no char to be found. I took a bite, put the taco back on my plate, and that was it. It was chewy like a dry pork chop, and tasted as bland as Cracker Barrel. My heart was broken. It did not help that our server kept coming to our table every 5 minutes asking us how everything was. It wasn't like they weren't busy and she didn't have other tables. I started counting at some point, she visited our table at least 9 times over a period of 50 minutes. To be honest it was smothering, but some people might enjoy the attentiveness. My wife ordered the enchilada verde. She has a thing about chicken enchiladas that aren't "stewed" but are chunks, and I really thought something called "barbacoa" would be down her alley, but sadly this was just not the case. Also the double layered house made corn tortillas took over the whole dish, which couldn't be saved from the lifeless salsa. Overall, this was a big miss from the other reviews I read, so I was a little surprised. read more

Unfortunately, I really wanted to like this place but the food and atmosphere were below my expectations. I ordered the green enchiladas which are traditionally made of chicken in a green chile and sour cream sauce. The tortilla was homemade and thick. Great when it is hot but not after you get to the last enchilada. The chicken was dry white meat chicken. I was hoping for a mixture of white and dark. My friend order the burrito which he said was a bit bland and tasteless. He gave me a bit of the charred cheese on the outside and it tasted like crunchy paper. The service was good but stretched thin. If you don't mind being crammed into a small space to eat then you won't mind the seating. Chair and table were very close to each other. My table was on the other side of the restaurant and I had to ask many people the move their chair to let me pass. This is not going to me one of my go to Mexican Food places. read more
