Amazing as always! Fav this visit = 京醬肉絲, with the sweet pork as second fav. The dumplings were amazing as always. The century egg tofu didn't taste super as century egg-y (lol) as we'd expected and had a little too much sesame oil for our liking. We didn't dislike it, but prob wouldn't order again (there are too many other amazing options). We lucked out and walked in right before the dinner rush. Service was quick, as always.

Visited December 5, 2025 This spot is definitely one of Georgia | Doraville's hidden gems. Every dish I tried was incredible--truly a 10/10 on the food alone. The only downside was the wait. I came with a large group, and tables kept going to smaller parties with very little communication from the staff. A larger space or a proper waiting area would make the experience smoother. Atmosphere & Layout: The interior is very cramped, so moving between tables can be a bit of an obstacle course. It's family-friendly, but I wouldn't call it baby-friendly. The restrooms could use some TLC, and there's no changing table. There are two restrooms, but they're gender-specific. Parking: Parking is free but limited. I'd recommend using the neighboring lot and walking over. Despite the space and wait-time issues, the food absolutely shines. If you're patient - visiting with a big group - the dumplings are well worth it.

This place lives up to the hype. The pork shrimp and chives dumplings were great. The soup dumplings are also as good as you would expect

LISTEN! 10/10 We have been searching for some good, authentic Chinese food for some time and we have finally found a gem! We didn't want leftovers for the day after Thanksgiving and this was the best choice! The service was great and food came out super fast! It was empty when we got there, but quickly got crowded. Our kids loved it too! We ordered the Chong Ching chicken without spice for our kids - they loved it! It also warmed up nicely in the air fryer for leftovers. The Chinese broccoli was crispy and delicious! The cumin lamb was very spicy but the flavor was so good that I tolerated it. The crispy shrimp was fried to perfection! We asked for duck sauce or sweet chili sauce but they didn't have any according to our waitress. Luckily another staff member came by and told us she would make us a good sauce to try. She brought it to us and it was just what we needed! It was similar to a sweet chili sauce. Will definitely be frequenting here!

I'm confused. How is it that the potstickers were juicier than the soup dumplings?? Where did my soup go? I'm not sure what happened to my order of xlb, but this was disappointing. It also wasn't freshly steamed as they came out room temp and the wrapper at the top of the dumpling was a bit stiff instead of soft. I saw some reviews and updates, and I thought it would be a good time to try them out now, but I feel as though I came at an off time, so perhaps it would be better my next visit. The flavor of the dumplings was good enough to warrant a return. That being said, I'm not in a rush to revisit so soon. I'm surprised this is considered one of the best places for soup dumplings. Then again, I don't see it as a menu option in GA normally. Makes me miss NY. Interior is casual. Service was alright. We got the potstickers first and halfway through, they brought out the soup dumplings, so I think they must've forgot that part of our order? That could've also been the reason why they came out lukewarm.

Since my last review, it took me four years to come back to this restaurant. My partner kept saying it had improved and that there were several dishes he really enjoyed. So, I decided to give it another try this past weekend. I'm glad I did because the food quality has noticeably improved since my last experience. The customer service was also phenomenal. My partner and I ordered three dishes to share: - Wonton Soup ($10.95): Savory and well-balanced. The wontons were tender and practically melted in our mouths. The bits of egg also added a nice texture to the broth. - Cumin Lamb Skewers (5 for $21): A bit pricey for the amount but worth it. The chunks are large, juicy, and full of flavor. We didn't even have to add extra sauce to them. - Szechuan Spicy Fish Filet ($21.95): A little too oily for my taste but still very tasty. The fish and cabbage were both soft and well-seasoned. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how much the food has improved. I'd definitely consider coming back again.

Was looking for a last minute place for lunch and heard great things about Northern China Eatery, so we decided to pop by, and it was such a great choice. Service was really quick despite being fairly packed. The inside is cozy. My go-to choice of green is always Chinese broccoli stir fried with garlic, and this one was so delicious. Pork and chive dumplings were hot and fresh, and the pan fried dumplings had the most perfect crispy bottom. Will definitely be coming back!

Soup dumpling filling was a little on the salty side and skin was just as thick as a regular dumpling. Beef noodle soup didn't have as much flavor braised into the meat and noodles were soft and didn't have much chew. Dumpling filling was tasty but skin was so soft a lot of the skin was broken when arrived, also wait time for the dumplings to come out took forever

Great soup dumplings!! Highly recommend them. Also had the fried rice and that was great, but the soup dumplings were the table favorite

Stop #4 on our first annual family dumpling crawl brought us to Northern China Eatery. We joined the waitlist and hung out in the parking lot, which thankfully had plenty of seating. About 10 minutes later, we were inside--cozy, bustling, and with an authentic vibe that set the tone right away. We started with the Shanghai soup dumplings, which were hands-down a 5 out of 5--rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. We also ordered dumplings three ways. The shrimp, pork, and chive combo was my personal favorite. The lamb and zucchini came in second, and the pork and fennel came in last for me, though others at the table really appreciated the fresh fennel flavor. Full disclosure: I may have hit my dumpling limit by this stop, so while nothing totally wowed me at this point, I definitely plan to go back. The handmade buns we saw at the next table looked and smelled incredible--we were just too stuffed to try them this time. We did manage to squeeze in the "refreshing cucumber salad," which lived up to its name. Light, crisp, and the perfect palate cleanser. I really recommend you try this place out - very cool experience!

Everything we had here was delicious. We started with the shanxi cold noodles which were probably my favorite thing we ordered. We also got the pork with fennel dumplings which were also tasty. The soup dumplings were just okay, but I've had much better elsewhere. The toothpick beef was tasty and different. Service was friendly. My only complaint that's keeping me from marking this as 4 stars is that 2 of us ended up having horrible stomach pain afterward, and I ended up being sick later that night so something clearly didn't agree with me. I eat authentic Chinese food at least twice a month so to have that happen was very unusual. I'm assuming it's a one off bc no other reviews mention it but it was rough enough for me to feel I had to include it in my review. I'd probably still give it another try if I was in the area bc the food was really good

Sweet and sour pork! Very good!

First time for me and the wife to visit! It will not be the last! We really enjoyed the food and service! The place is old! Haha But, the food is great!

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

When we arrived, I realized the location used to be the old Hong Kong Supermarket -- only longtime locals would probably remember that. The layout inside was pretty interesting. There was a Te'amos milk tea shop in the middle, Lao Szechuan on the right, and the hot pot & BBQ restaurant on the left. The staff greeted us warmly and quickly helped us get seated. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was that they offered freshly made milk teas and fruit teas instead of bottled drinks. The drinks were decent and refreshing, especially for balancing out the richness of the meal. Each person gets their own mini hot pot, which I really liked because everyone could customize their own soup base and ingredients. We chose a variety of broths including mushroom, spicy mala, tomato, and herbal soup. Using the iPad ordering system, we basically ordered one of everything from both the hot pot and BBQ menus. The food came out surprisingly fast, and they even used robots to deliver dishes to the table, which was smooth and efficient. For hot pot, my personal favorites were the fatty beef slices, lamb, beef tripe, black tripe, tofu skin rolls, squid flowers, enoki mushrooms, corn, lotus root slices, kelp knots, fish balls, and beef tendon balls. Everything tasted great with the broth and my favorite sesame dipping sauce. On the BBQ side, the standout items for me were the cumin lamb, beef tongue, chicken cartilage, short ribs, and squid. We weren't exactly BBQ experts, so some meats weren't cooked perfectly, but the flavor was still really enjoyable -- and the best part was that you could keep ordering as much as you wanted. Honestly, for around $40 per person, it felt like a very good value. My parents both thought it was worth the price. We left full and satisfied, and the service was always attentive whenever we needed something. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Mother's Day meal, and I'd definitely come back again with friends next time.

Food: 3.5/5 there is a Kanpai near my hometown that was more 4/5, so I thought I would get a similar experience here, but their hot food bar had barely warm food and not as many options. Tables have spots for individual pots, and the BBQ grill is shared. The Tom Yum broth itself was good. Meat quality was up to par. Vegetables could have been fresher. For anyone with allergies: the sauce bar had a thoroughly written out allergy table and was clean, which was a plus. Drinks: Mai Tai was actually pretty good, and this is coming from someone that typically sticks with a beer. Sapporo is available on draft! Service/cleanliness: 3/5 the host sat us, a party of 3, down at a table meant for 6, which was interesting. We were quite literally one of 2 parties there, and only one other couple showed up while we dined. Our table was also the only table that had a grill with browned oil that came from who knows where. We had it changed to a clean one, but when we were handed the tablet to order, this was also covered in grease/oil. The bathrooms and sauce bar were clean, but at the table I was not satisfied. The server herself was very nice and explained the AYCE experience well. Ambiance: quiet music in the background, plenty of tables that could sit 4, 6, and 8.

We ordered pan fried buns and instead received Chinese donuts in the bag :( I didn't realize it until we got home, but I never had an issue with this place so it didn't occur to me that they prepared (or packed?) the wrong thing. If I ever return, I'll know to do better than expect the correct order and check everything before heading out. The crab rangoon was still flavorful but whatever dough they wrapped it with this time was so freaking tough that it cut the top of my mouth. My jaw should not get a workout from eating crab rangoon of all things. Another disappointment in the bag. But the beef entree we ordered was good, yet overshadowed by the other letdowns of the night's visit given that I can't really remember what exactly we ate. I'm going to remove another star for the unhygienic practices I witnessed that I was perhaps blissfully ignorant of my last time visiting. It's hard to look past a server comfortably coughing into their hand and proceeding to handle multiple patrons' plates and orders without as much of a squirt of sanitizer. I will say though they are quite dedicated to the customer. As I was sitting in the parking lot waiting 10-15min for my order to finish, someone clearly forgot their food and the same hacking server ran out to give it to them. Oh wait! Turns out that was actually our food being jostled around as he ran through the parking lot searching for the owner. I was watching the time and planned on returning but maybe I wasn't moving fast enough for this guy lol. He did all that just for the order to be wrong.... Damn bro. I prayed he didn't box the food. I guess we didn't come on a good day? I really don't know what happened but the entire experience was off. Based on the night's events, I don't know if I'll return. No pictures this time... Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.
