Deserves its reputation as the best banhmis in Atlanta. The bread is crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right ratio of meat to veggies. They've got the buy 5 get one deal, so don't be afraid to come and get some for your next big gathering. Compared to Quoc Huong's banh mi, I found that Lee's bread and the sandwich overall are way less dry. They're more intentional in the use of their sauces to keep the inside moist and extend flavor, and their bread tasted fresher, with a a better taste and texture to it. I've also tried Lee's spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee, and those weren't much different from Quoc Huong's or other well-known Vietnamese spots in the area. If anything, I prefer Quoc Huong's for those items, but you won't be missing out on much if you choose to have a snack here while picking up banh mi. read more

I was the second customer on a Friday morning. I needed to grab Banh Mis to-go, but the smell of pho was wafting into the dining area tempted me back for lunch. Love the no frills vibes. I went for an early lunch with a friend and it was completely empty. We were seated right away. I got the combo that comes with a bowl of pho and a sandwich. I will say I wasn't super impressed with the pho, the soup was pretty plain and didn't stand out much to me and there wasn't much meat or anything but the portion itself was really generous. The le combo sandwich I got though is a different story and it really made the meal. The bread was fresh and had the perfect crisp to it. Whenever I have a hankering for banh mi I always have Lee's Bakery in the rotation. The sandwiches are a bit small compared to others, but the taste is there. Their version is a bit drier than others I've had in the area, and they don't stuff it with as many veggies in my experience. But the bread is really phenomenal and fresh. They even offer instructions for reheating, although I'll say the freshness and quality of the bread is indistinguishable when served hot or cold. I also love that they sell bread by itself for the low-low (3 for $1.50 if I remember correctly). They also sell day-old bread at an even more discounted price... but trust me, the bread is still just as good. The service was friendly. Inside was relatively clean, and had a typical carryout feel with a few tables. I'll always have extra love for any place that tells you the ingredients they use for baked goods. I wanted the sandwiches to go. The bread is harder than Quoc Huong and it seems a little smaller. I got 3 specials and 3 pork sandwiches. They only allow you to order two types. I can go to Quoc Huong and mix and match my 6 banh mi. This place gives you a lot of extra side veggies which is great. Would I come here again? Probably not. Every time I come to Lee's, I know I'm going to have an incredible experience. This time I arrived on a Thursday afternoon, and the place was pretty packed when we walked in. We were immediately seated and given waters upon arrival. After a couple minutes, our server came back to ask us what we wanted. The whole process was so quick as our food came out probably about five minutes after we ordered! It was delicious as always! We were checked on several times, once even by who I believe to be Lee himself, and asked if we needed anything. Lee's Bakery is truly the epitome of a hidden gem. Tucked away in a small plaza off of Buford Hwy in Doraville, the food here is delicious! The service is super quick, they manage to get the food out within 15 minutes of ordering. We were seated super quickly as well, and not only that, the kind lady offered to switch our seat closer to the fan since it was 93 degrees out. Came here for lunch and it was pretty busy. The bbq pork spring rolls were pretty good, it was packed but the pork was really sweet. The pho broth was also on the sweeter side here. But the noodles and portion was good. The bun bo hue wasn't very spicy but the noodles were cooked well. I also asked to sub for different meat. Ahhh the famous Lee's Bakery!! I was so intrigued to try this place after seeing so many great reviews. It was really packed on a weekday, but plenty of seating. The parking is easy since there is a parking lot and it's a very cute restaurant. Reminds of you the good old times. The food is very authentic and they also sell some things like kimchi in different portions. I tried their tofu banh mi which was pretty good, I will say it lacked a little flavor which you do have to be mindful of when tofu is the choice of protein but after piling on chili oil and sriracha it was good. I opted for their bbq pork because I figured it was a safe bet and it was listed as one of their favorites. The pho was a little too salty for my preference but still tasty. The banh mi bread is made in house which is why they close early. It was a great texture but could have had more filling in terms of pork and vegetables. We came here for lunch on a Wednesday and although the restaurant was jam-packed, we were able to snag two seats at the end of a long table. There is a dine-in special for a combo pho + half or full banh mi sandwich for somewhere around $15 which seemed like a great deal, and they didn't give us a hard time about sharing it. I only had the pho, which contained rare steak, flank, and brisket. I found the meat to be extremely tough and chewy, actually needing to spit it out because it was too hard to swallow. I also felt that the garnishes they provided were not as comprehensive as what I've gotten other places like Paris Banh Mi (still my favorite in the area). Get a banh mi. That's it. That's the review. Fine, I'll add more. Banh mis are probably one of my favorite types of sandwiches and Lee's does it very well. (Heads up to Vietnamese restaurants out there: if you offer a good banh mi for under $6 I will likely give you 5-stars. That's my bias.) The bread has a really good crunch to it without being stale. I found it interesting that Lee's sells day-old and fresh baguettes to take home. Not sure if I've ever seen that elsewhere. I ALWAYS get a banh mi dac biet (special) if it's offered. I think it's the traditional banh mi filled with cold cuts, pâté, and pickled veggies. So in my research (read Redditing) I found that there's somewhat of a rivalry between Lee's and Quoc Huong down the road. I don't think I can pick a winner because they were both excellent. The banh mi here is astonishingly good. My mom and I came here for lunch on New Year's Day, and there was plenty of seating. The restaurant itself is on the casual side, but the service is prompt and they have great lunch deals that are only available dine-in. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup (with no green onions, which is why the photo looks like pure broth) & Full Sandwich for $16. I chose the combo banh mi for my sandwich, which comes with bologna, head cheese, jambon, pate, and veggies. My mom ordered the Bún Riêu, which I didn't try, but which she enjoyed. My beef pho was very good -- well-flavored broth, comes with bean sprouts and limes and basil and all the trappings -- but the banh mi was outstanding. I had planned to have just a small bite of the sandwich so I could take the rest home for later, but I physically could not stop myself from consuming the whole thing. The bread (made in-house) is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and the meats and fillings were fresh and well-portioned and a fever dream of deliciousness.
