Came a little later in the day and so many flavors were sold out already. That's when you know it's goood! The service was so friendly and nice. I got the blueberry filled, twist and the chocolate frosted. These donuts were so good and fresh! The twist was the perfect bite! It was so soft and not super dense. The blueberry frosted was definitely my favorite! The blueberry frosting was so fresh and has lots of blueberries inside and it was not too sweet. There was so much filling too. The chocolate frosted was really good as well. Definitely will be back to try the other flavors. A must visit to this mom and pop shop! Will want to try the subs as well.

With the additional three dollars for some munchkins that were mostly air the total bill here was $20

I'm sorry, I will not be returning. The donuts are old and are dried out. I was really looking forward to the cinnamon twist for my wife cause that was her favorite but When I looked at it, it was half the size of what it used to be. I am looking for the owners. They are not there. I'm asking. Do these people even have a business license and a health license that is current because the the aftertaste of old grease in the blueberry donut and the others as well should not be there it tastes rancid. I finally got out of the lady behind the counter that the owners sold the business five months ago to her and the other young lady and it looks like they did not speak much of any English, besides the fact that this is not an even exchange of money for food.

Mom and pop donuts and famous apple fritters. The food lived up to its recommendation. We were happy to try a new place a little out of the way. We will stop here again. The sub sandwiches are pretty good too.

I was in the area and wanted to try something that I could not try on my side of town. After a little research I opted for something that I would not ordinarily go for. What I mean by that is that it was clear that this place is no frills. I walked in and there was only one patron in the shop on a Friday afternoon. Given the great reviews I really anticipated a larger crowd. As I noted above, this place is no frills. It honestly appears that the owners may occasionally live out of the place. It's filled with what I would call house plants. I even saw what I imagine is their mode of transportation to work every day- bikes! I wanted to try a sub and donuts. I figured it would not be a place I would be back to anytime soon given it's proximity to my side of town. I ordered a sub and two donuts. The sun was decent. Nothing to write home about. The donuts- I did not care for. They honestly tasted stale and just not good. If I were in the area and need a basic meal I guess I would come in for a sub. I do feel like I am being generous with my average rating.

I just saw a post from someone from 3 hours ago that gave this gem a negative review. They mentioned the donuts being dry and not fresh! I am so confused because I purchased a dozen of the best donuts an hour ago. This place has always been consistently amazing and fresh. The donuts don't stick around long enough to be stale. I thank the ladies who are working so hard to deliver an amazing treat. Great way to start my Saturday!

The 5 stars are for the donuts. The subs are fine. Go early so you have a lot of donuts to pick from! They don't take American Express. My favorite donuts: Butter Milk, Blueberry Cake, Apple Cinnamon (with apple pie-like filling), Sour Cream, Honey Dip, Solid Chocolate. As far as their subs, they don't have very many toppings. They have: lettuce, tomato, and onion. They have mayonnaise, mustard, and Italian dressing. They have a variety of meat. I only had turkey, but it was really good. A 7-inch turkey sub is $5.19. Not bad! I'll definitely keep going back for the donuts!

I went here around 12:39 and got the turkey sandwich. I wanted to get a donut, but unfortunately there weren't many lady. I don't know if they're just that good and sold by that time or if that was all that was made. *the turkey sandwich had all the great stuff in in (lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard) but it was very dry. They do add little mustard and mayo and I asked for more but they don't do packets.. maybe I should have asked for it in a container, but I didn't think that far ahead, so when it was eating it, I didn't enjoy it because of how dry it was. But the produce itself was really good! I dont know if I'd go back. COVID friendly for those who are still wearing masks.

Separate counters for donuts and subs ($7 and change for a combo). They prefer cash, $0.50 upcharge for cards.

I haven't come back for the subs, but will. So, in the name of science, I ate three donuts in my first sitting at this little shop, out of the half dozen (and a very regular coffee) I bought. Bavarian Cream - a good example, fairly standard, maybe the bread-y part was a bit sweeter than usual. Kind of King's Hawaiian level. The cream was rich, not overpowering. Solid. A few notches above what you'd get at Dunkin, but not terribly memorable. Sour Cream - I actually like when a sour cream donut is a bit more dense than this one, which crumbled a bit, and didn't hold together. It was uncomplicated, good, not great. Cream Cheese - now *this* changed my opinion entirely, at least in terms of my assessment of the place as a whole from a nice local spot to somewhere worthy of a drive. The bread/cake portion had great consistency and the filling had a wonderful consistency and a rich filling that had perfect mouth feel and a complex, but appropriately sweet, taste. The cream cheese donut alone justifies a decent drive to check this place out. Other people ordered Honey Dip donuts, which seem to be glazed - I have one in the half dozen box, but my daughter will probably eat it when I get home. Apple Fritters, etc. I'm sure are all good, but if there are more things on the level of the cream cheese donut, this is a real hidden gem. As noted, I'll come back for the subs, another time. I saw a steady, but not overwhelming, stream of customers on this overcast/drizzly Saturday. [update:] I came again to buy another half dozen for someone who I forgot was gluten intolerant - so I got to eat most of these yet again. In this case, I showed up late-ish, for donuts, 11 AM, and most of the options were gone. As a result, I tried 3 new kinds. I had the chocolate covered sour cream, which actually turned out to be an excellent version of a sour cream donut, so I think the one from the prior day was the exception rather than the rule. There was the solid chocolate, which had a nice sugar crusted outer layer and a tasty inside, but I will say it wasn't as chocolatey as I expected. More like a red velvet cake. I had the plain donut, as well. This can be the real test of a bakery, because there's nothing beyond the baking itself, and this was probably the best I've had - though I don't often go for them, to be honest. Also, and I'm not sure of the name, there's another pastry that was in there, which was very good. Hard to go wrong here. Still haven't had the subs. My daughter didn't save me a bite of the honey glazed even though I asked her to. [second update:] I have had the honey dip at this point, and it was good. Not hot glazed Krispy Kreme level, but very good for a non-hot glazed. I also managed to try a Philly cheesesteak sub, which was decent but not special. I'm not changing my rating, because the donuts are that good, but that's the attraction, here.

The Donuts was very good. They were fresh the next day. As for the cinnamon roll/bun could use more flavor.

Stale donuts, very rude and mean service, stinky store with flies. Will not return. Didn't expect all this from a Donut shop!

They have an outdoor patio behind Pete's Hotdogs but also some cozy inside seating if you like the old hamburger shop with countertop service. Their burgers are worth noting as well as their breakfast sandwiches. They add a bit of their own flare with a pepper jam on their breakfast sandwiches, which if you're into putting jam on your breakfast biscuits, that might interest you a bit. I'm not big into that, and I still enjoy it. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are also using fresh buns with fresh ingredients which you can't really find a lot of places in the city making their own buns. Most will use Martins, which i'm not complaining about those, but to find a fresh made bun hamburger in these times is amazing. As I'm finishing up this review, I'm reminding myself I need to go here more often.

The sesame seed bun seems to be made from scratch, and is crusty on the outside and chewy and fluffy on the inside. The pork sausage patty is moist, tasty, and juicy without falling apart, and very well seasoned. The egg was fried to perfection, and although there was a bit of runny yolk, it was not so much that it soaked the bun or made the sandwich needlessly messy. The sweet and tangy Hero Pepper Jelly is the perfect foil to the fried egg, cheese, and sausage, and for lovers of all things sweet and salty (such as myself), it amplifies the flavors of this sandwich to the next level. The husband loves sweets so he had to look up places to go for our dessert after our anniversary dinner. We came in around 9 PM on a Friday night. The place was empty but then a few folks wandered in. Though I suppose the pastries wouldn't be the freshest at this time of day, we were still impressed. We purchased the banoffee pie ($4.75) and pistachio cannoli ($4.95) donuts. Banoffee pie: With such an impressive name, the first bit did not disappoint. Though this donut looked more plain, the flavors were impressive. I guess the flavors were a mash of banana and coffee so hence the name. It was really delectable. Even the dough at this hour was still chewy and anything but stale. Pistachio cannoli: Impressive in presentation, but it's still more like a donut than a cannoli. Once you bite into it, you'll know it's more of a donut consistency than cannoli. The chocolate and pistachio coating added nice textures and flavors, but I wasn't a true fan since I was eyeing to have a true cannoli. The flavors were there, but it's just a donut dressed up as a cannoli. The Salty Donut is located in the Krog Street Market space. It's more on the street level around the perimeter than inside the market.
