While waiting in line, the owner--an older Asian male--came to the counter to assist customers. I was next in line, but he motioned to the customer standing behind me instead. I raised my hand to indicate that I was next, thinking he may not have seen me. He looked at me, acknowledged my gesture, and again motioned to the customer behind me, who was a white male. The customer behind me pointed toward me to clarify that I was next. After that, the owner acknowledged me. At that point, I chose to leave the store and allowed the other customer to proceed. I saw they were open pretty early and came in to get donuts for my coworkers. They have a lot of variety so it was hard to choose my dozen but the worker was extremely kind and patient. The total for my dozen came to $17 and some change. As I leaving, I heard the customer that came in after me ordering a grilled ham and cheese croissant. I was so focused on getting donuts, I didn't realize they had other breakfast items. If I wasn't already late for work, I would have did a u-turn and ordered something else. My donuts were ok. The dough was soft and fresh but they tasted basic to me. Coworkers enjoyed them so I'm starting to believe I'm just not a donut person. I bought an apple fritter and a bear claw with some type of crunch on the top of it, but I don't remember what exactly. The total came to about $3 or so. Both pastries had apple filling. So initially when I tried to check in I was not able to. I thought that I was going to have to uninstall my app and reinstall i had this issue before. I tried to search the business on the app it didn't come up I was unable. What I did was Google search to see if the place is on Yelp and there it was from there I was able to check in. I found out about this place a couple of years ago through my supervisor on my job. The glaze donuts taste like a bakery I used to go to in Elementary School in Savannah GA in the fifth grade. The flavor and taste is like nostalgia to me. If you want donuts from here best to come by early in the morning if not you are going to be asked to pick from what is left it happened to me previously I picked some once they were ok it's just the plain glazed are delicious and the white cream filled are also two of my favorite donuts then another time I left because what I wanted to spend my money on was not available instead of them making more of the donuts that are in demand. Cute little spot for coffee, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches. Parking is good and it was 1 or 2 ppl waiting to place their order. Surprisingly they have a drive thru that was interesting. Not very friendly but they take your order and they got my order correct so I'm ok lol. I ordered a glazed donut and a caramel ice coffee and that's exactly what I received. Prices are pretty basic and the shop was organized and clean. I must say they are pretty busy because even while we waited for our order ppl were coming in and coming in that drive thru! Man this place makes me happy. I should have reviewed it a long time ago. These are some of the best cake donuts I've ever had. I laugh at the reviews complaining they are not "light and fluffy"! Yeah, DO NOT come here for light and fluffy! These donuts have heft! I recently took a dozen to a BBQ and my buddy's mother in law lifted the box and said she knew whatever was in there had to be good simply based on the weight. Another buddy told me they were the "Hit" of the gathering. I love the: apple fritters (absolutely heavenly after a brief trip in the air fryer), blueberry cream cheese, buttermilk, and the apple filled bear claws. They can sell out of the popular items, so the earlier the better if you want a variety. Upon arriving, I noticed a drive thru window so I opted to do that route for convenience. The menu is very basic and does not list any details on the types of donuts they have or anything. I asked the lady in the window if she could tell me what donuts she had. She said they're on the menu. I said no your menu does not have everything listed. She said there are too many donuts to name (LOL). I tried to go on their website and the website was not working. So I asked her okay - what are the most popular flavors? She named 3 - strawberry, glazed and something else. She wasn't being very helpful and I could tell she was getting frustrated and so was I. Plus, I was in a rush, I said okay put whatever the popular ones are and give me a box of a dozen and a box of half a dozen. I was so irritated by her lack of help! How can you not list 10 donut flavors? It's not like Willy Wonka's donut factory and you have 900 flavors! At my client's office they insisted that we try the flavors together. I'm sorry but the donuts were nothing to call home about. They tasted pretty on par with Dunkin Donuts. To me a good donut is Sublime... Krispy Kreme... We REALLY enjoy the breakfast sandwiches from Donut City! So far we have only tried the croissants, but the bagels look good, too. We also want to try the burritos. After a heated discussion on social media about the merits of various donuts, a friend pointed out that I didn't need to go all the way to Lexington to get a world class donut, pointing to Donut City right here in Tucker. But the thing that set me over the roof was that apple fritter. About the size of my palm (which is not small), this thing rocked my face. So for me, the donuts were just OK. I went on national donut day around 1 o'clock, I did not expect there to be a lot left due to the hype of the holiday, and there were still enough to choose from. I got a cinnamon roll, glazed donut, blueberry cake, and a red velvet cake. Overall the flavor just was not there in any of the flavored donuts: the cinnamon, blueberry, and red velvet. The glaze was also just OK. They were out of my fave which is the lemon-filled, but I was not intrigued enough to go back and try based off of the flavors that I tried that day. I do think that if in a pinch, I'd definitely pick up for an office event but for my personal preference, I will pass. This location was in like a stop plaza. Donut City has the absolute best tasting, best quality donuts in my opinion. Krispy K has nothing on them. Not even close. I went very early one morning just as they were putting out their freshly made glazed donuts and they were the best I had ever had. They had a slight crisp around the edge and the glaze was still warm after driving back to my location. Even on really cold mornings the cold donuts are still very tasty. My favorites are the glazed "fluffy" donuts. The cake donuts aren't bad, just not my on my list of favorites. The Apple fritter is good but it's a little to heavy and greasy for my liking. But it's good. I'm not really into all of the flavors and colors, but I have had a few of them and they were also very tasty. I would say the best time to get them is right after they've been freshly made. So damn awesome. read more
