Incredible local Thai eatery. We came to a local card show and stopped in for some take away. It was some of the best Thai we've had in years. We live in Chicago so we have some really tasty Thai in our area. This is right up there with the best of them. We ordered the Namtok salad and the Drunken noodles both perfect. Siamese Basil Thai Restaurant is a mom and pop restaurant offering Thai food. It is located in an unseemly plaza. There is no dine-in option, just takeout. The service was lovely! My food was ready right when I got there and the frontman was very friendly and welcoming. I got the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. I was excited to try it because there are a lot of good reviews, but I was not a big fan. I think the sauce tasted a bit different than what I was used to. However, the portion size is huge and there was a lot of chicken there! I also got a free egg roll which was crispy and tasty with their sweet chili sauce. Overall, my taste buds are my own and this restaurant obviously has the hearts of many local people so I think everyone should support them! read more

We've been eating here consistently for 7-8 years, and Siamese Basil Thai is hands down the best Thai food in Georgia. Period. This is a true mom-and-pop spot, and it shows in the food. Everything is cooked from scratch, not pre-packaged sauces like so many other Thai places. The flavors are clean, authentic, and incredibly consistent. Their son Matthew runs operations and is always friendly and accommodating. Orders are ready quickly, spice levels are made exactly how you want them, and the quality never slips. The food is easily on par with Atlanta's five-star mid- to high-end Thai restaurants, but at a fraction of the price. The only downside is that there's no seated dining right now, which we miss (takeout only right now) but it's still our go-to Thai spot every time. read more

I would def order these again - drunken noodles with chicken - $15.95 - 4/5 This was a good dish and the chicken was fresh tasting - basil stir fry with chicken - $15.95 - 3/5 Sauce was good and comparable to other restaurants that serve this dish. I'd say the portions look a bit small so this would not be for 2 people to share unless other dishes were ordered too. It comes with rice. The dish itself has a lot of bamboo shoots and unfortunately quite a bit of oil. I ordered take-out, so I can't comment on the dine-in experience. Both the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles were tasty to us. I always order my Drunken Noodle as Thai hot and with Shrimp, it's spicy and delicious. Their noodles aren't dry nor are they overly oil/saucy, I've found a lot of places to be one or the other. They don't question when I ask for the peanuts on the side for my Pad Thai. Siamese Basil Thai Restaurant is so consistent and I order for takeout here relatively often. Highly recommend! read more

Tried this restaurant yesterday and it was delicious. I had the garlic seafood dish and my sweetheart had the pad thai. For apps we did the shrimp rolls and coconut soup. The soup was very flavorful and the shrimp rolls were crunchy but not rubbery. My garlic seafood was perfectly cooked- I was concerned that the seafood would be rubbery once we made it home but it was not- scallops were yummy, shrimp plump and juicy- perfect. My sweetheart's noodles were very yummy. Next time I order the garlic seafood, I am going to request some chilies on the side. Loved it and can't wait to try the curries next. Found this spot searching for a new Thai restaurant. The previous reviews do a good job of explaining the service and ambiance of the restaurant, so I'll keep my review solely on the food: - Coconut Soup (4/5) I ended up ordering the coconut soup and it was delicious! As described on the menu, the soup is a mix of coconut milk, mushrooms, chicken, and everything was super of flavorful. It was a tab bit runny but it was fulfilling. A ordered a cup and it is big enough to share between two people if needed. - Curry Rangoon (5/5) this was the first time I ever had rangoons made this way and I would definitely recommend them! It almost tasted like eating a samosa with a Rangoon shell. If you like both those dishes, it's a must try. - Chicken x Tofu Pad Thai (5/5) I got the chicken Pad Thai and my wife got the Tofu. Both were great and fresh! We got it medium heat and that was definitely hot! So if you're not that big on spicy dishes, stick with mild. But the dish was fulfilling and was able to be spaced out between two separate setting, but if you want to try out the restaurant but are unsure about what to get. Start here. read more

Literally my FAVORITE thai restaurant in Georgia... As someone who has been to Thailand multiple times, this place is SO authentic to my experiences in their native country. The food is DELICIOUS! I've tried so many different items and I haven't been disappointed yet! Not only that, this family own/ran restaurant is so personable... I haven't been here in at least a year or so due to frequent travel and personal reasons and they STILL remembered my name (by first AND last name)... Talk about customer service!... I'm definitely loyal to this place and will refer ANYBODY I can. They are to-go only but who cares, I've NEVER received bad customer service from them and I've been frequenting this restaurant (almost weekly) since 2020. Thank you! Tier 1 mom and pop restaurant in Atlanta. They've been serving my favorite 3 Flavor chicken since 1995. It is similar to orange chicken and General Tso chicken but even better. The curry is the next best thing, I recommend the Emerald curry, it has spinach and eggplant. We were in the area and were looking for a good Thai restaurant. It had a decent rating so off we went. Upon finding it, even though it looked a bit rough we thought we would give it a try! We have been deceived by looks before. So we went in. The whole restaurant was full of stuff, bags, boxes, equipment.....just stuff. Like they got to this point because of COVID but never resumed the real operation of the restaurant again. At the front there was a very nice guy that said it is take out only, which the sign on the door said this as well. At this point we thought okie can sit in the truck and eat. It's not like we don't any other day. So we ordered Penang curry with chicken. He said it will be just a few minutes. I actually asked if the food was made there fresh and he assured me yes. Before 5 minutes had passed the food was out and we were out the door. (This was amazing because you couldn't smell any food cooking!) When we opened the curry there was rice and what looked like Penang but the only veggies in it were 2 slivers of a red sweet pepper. It had a plethora of chicken. Taking a bite of this chicken proved to me that it doesn't seem to be cooked there. It tasted rewarmed. I ate my rice and Penang sauce leaving the chicken and peppers. On a side note, they gave you a complimentary egg roll with each meal. And there was a little boy telling us his adventures of being a ghost buster. The spice was good in it. I am sorry that I had to write this because I don't like to leave bad reviews. But I wouldn't want someone else to find out the hard way if they traveled long distance to get there. So more veggies would be great and the portion size was light along with fresh cooked chicken. read more

I just had a very good take-out meal from here a few days ago. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now but never had the chance as they were closed for some time during the pandemic. I'm glad they've reopened and have been back in business. I originally was going to order from Thai Restaurant of Norcross across the street, but they were not open for the day yet as it was not quite time for dinner service. I was glad to have this alternative so close by. I ordered through GrubHub with no issue and the food was hot and ready promptly at the start of the pick-up time frame given. When I was waiting in the lot, I noticed others were receiving curbside delivery, but this was not an option through GrubHub. Next time I might just call the restaurant as this seems to be what the others did (probably regulars), but it was no problem going inside the restaurant as no other customers were inside and everything was roped off. The gentleman who handed me my order, who I presume to be the owner based off other comments, is so nice and friendly and had excellent manners. He assured me there were plenty of utensils in the bag and handed me everything in a secure package. When I got home I was pleased to find that they poked a small hole in the styrofoam containers so that steam would escape and the food wouldn't get soggy - extra points for that! I ordered the See Ew noodles - medium heat with tofu, red curry chicken which comes with jasmine rice, and an order of spring rolls. Everything was very tasty! The noodles and tofu were cooked perfectly and quite satisfyingly spicy at medium heat level, served up in a good family style portion. The red chicken curry was served more as a one person plate style instead of a family portion, but it was very delicious and worth it for the price charged. Finally, the spring rolls were on par with Thai Restaurant of Norcross - good flavor, nice and crispy and fresh. All of the items will be repeat items for me. I ended up with lots of left over noodles for the next day which is always nice. I'll definitely come back here to try more things as the quality of the food and service was five stars. read more

Mathew is AWESOME! I placed an online takeout order (they are only open for takeout, sadly) and Mathew immediately called me to see how long it would take me to drive to the restaurant. He said my name "Miss Pat" at least twenty times when I arrived. Customer service is his number one goal. My Nam Sad (pork larb/laab) and green papaya salad were delicious. My husband's spicy seafood (shrimp) drunken noodles were also delicious. This restaurant is a must try if you love Thai cuisine. They never disappoint. Called to place a take out order around 8 pm when we were 50 min away from the restaurant on our way back home. The gentleman who answered the phone told me they were already cleaning up and to call back when we are closer to the restaurant, maybe 10 min away as it is a custom order(no tomato in one item, add broccoli instead of mixed veggies in another) and he didn't want to take a risk of us not showing up. We have placed many takeout orders but this is a first for us. They did not have an option to add steamed tofu, they only have fried tofu, which we were ok with given the stellar reviews. After the call ended, we decided to go with another Thai place as Siamese didn't want to take a risk with our takeout order after they made a note of all 3 items with spice levels indicated!! I even offered to place order online and pay ahead with credit card ahead, if he can make sure the small changes to the items are taken care of as there is no place on their online ordering system you specify! I would have given zero stars if I could!! Tonight, I was craving Thai food. While scrolling UberEats, I noticed the prices here at Siamese Basil Thai Restaurant were lower than other options, and the reviews were high. Win/win, if you ask me! I decided to get the drunken noodles with chicken (medium spice level) and the red curry (hot spice level). Both dishes were prepared as promised, arrived hot (temperature-wise), and were very flavorful and delicious. They definitely satisfied my craving. I will of course be ordering again to try more of their dishes. Perhaps I will dine in soon because when I looked at photos, the interior looks beautiful and peaceful. I've been coming to this place since I was literally in my mom's womb. This is the best Thai place in Georgia for sure and it is super authentic. It's family owned and you can tell the family is really passionate about their restaurant. The service is amazing and when the restaurant was open for dining inside, the restaurant was very beautiful and had a very cozy feeling. I love basically everything, but I really recommend getting a Thai tea a coconut soup and of course mango sticky rice for dessert (literally the best dessert out there). I've been to Siamese Basil a few times, but I guess I just never got around to filling in my review. Their coconut soup is delish and they use bigger mushrooms. It's hearty, flavorful, and rich - just how I like it. The Tom Yum soup is nice too; nice and spicy with perfectly cooked shrimp. The curries are all wonderful. Crisp vegetables and tender meats paired with slightly thinner sauces than I'm used to, but the flavor is still there. I don;t have a favorite dish here just yet...I haven't tried everything they have to offer. My goal is to try everything and be able to make an informed decision on my absolute favorite. They like to advertise and recommend their duck, but it's not my favorite. The portion to price isn't great in my opinion. The flavor is good, but it's not the kind of dish you want to travel with...so eat it in the restaurant if you're going to order it...it's supposed ot be crispy. If you get it for take out, the crispiness factor drops off by like 70-80%, so the texture isn't quite right. The atmosphere inside is perfect for dates. (However, they recently had a fire, so the dining room has been closed and I don't know how bad the damage is...) Hopefully, they will reopen the dining room soon and their seating will remain as comfy as it was before - if not even more so. They kept the volume on ambient music and the lights low, which added to the atmosphere. The customer service is excellent. The owners and staff are very polite and friendly. The last few times I've gone, I was greeted at the door by friendly faces and happy words. I also like the dine-in experience for the dishes, because they serve with rounded, circular, and square dishes during a meal. It's neat-looking to have the different shapes add something to the dining experience. Definitely give them a shot and give them a review (even if it's short) so they know what you like and what they can improve on (if anything). read more

Not sure where the high ratings come from, but if you're hungry & have a craving for Thai, I recommend you try elsewhere.
