My work ordered from here last week. I was excited to try, seeing all of the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was mediocre. I'm thinking I just picked the wrong things... even though every dish should be at their best. Still, I am definitely interested in giving them another chance. I got the Tom Yum soup: Bowl with veggies, Thai Hot. The flavor was decent but unfortunately, it was not Thai hot. Truth be told, it wasn't even hot... more medium with a bunch of chili flakes that settled at the bottom of the container. My soup was mostly all broth and barely any veggies. I expected a lot more from this especially since I didn't choose a protein. It should've been packed with veggies. I'm a big fan of tom yum, so this was pretty disappointing. The other item I ordered was the fresh basil roll with shrimp & peanut sauce. It was nicely wrapped and a good portion (two big rolls). However, it should've come with two portions of dipping sauce (one barely cut it). I should've asked for both peanut sauce and hoisin sauce. Sadly, the ratios here also felt off... mostly all lettuce and not much of any of the other ingredients. I can't speak on ambiance or service since we got takeout, but I'd love to come in and experience it for myself. Prices seem good but I also feel based on my experience, that it's misleading! A bowl of soup and an appetizer for under $15 (my work lunch limit) is pretty good especially when you compare to other places around town. However, my items were kind of just "fluff." In other words, I paid for a roll of mostly lettuce (cheap) and a bowl of mostly broth (also inexpensive). Despite my harsh critique, I feel it must've been an off day or something. Amazing food and service. We had eaten at this establishment many years ago and then moved away. Recently, we have been disappointed with Thai star closer to us and decided to revisit here after reading consistent good reviews. And we were glad we did. Efficient service, great food! All entrees come with a soup and prices that won't make a hole in your wallet. We ordered Basil Fried Rice with Tofu and Drunken Noodles with chicken. We tried their coconut soup and Tom Yum soup. We went in here to grab lunch with friends today. It wasn't too packed. The host is the kindest gentleman ever. He explained the menu graciously. With a choice of entree, you can select a soup or a side salad. I got a Green Thai curry with tofu. My partner got a Basil Fried rice with tofu. He chose the coconut soup, while I chose the tom yum soup. We split a Thai Iced Tea. Everything was really good. The Green curry was very flavorful and the fried rice was good too. The Thai food here at Royal Bistro was fantastic, but beyond that I would go back again purely to enjoy the owner and his comedy. This is a very dressed down, simply decorated restaurant so it doesn't look like much, especially from the outside. But the quality of the food along with the service makes up for all of it. Our waiter (who we figured out is also the owner) was THE most adorable, sweet man. So gentle and literally never not smiling the entire time we were there. And boy did he have jokes- he was so fun to be around we probably would've stayed just to hang with him more! But the food- it was also quite good. Everyone in my party enjoyed what they had. I came by here for lunch and it was actually pretty crowded so there was a bit of a wait. I figured the food must be good for it to be so crowded especially because I saw several to go orders being placed or picked up while I was waiting. The staff was friendly and allowed us to go ahead and place our order while we were waiting so that once we were seated, it wouldn't take as long for the food to come out. While looking over the menu, I was quite impressed with the prices especially for Thai food. I'm used to Thai food being on the higher end- like $15 or more per dish. Everything on the menu here that I typically order at other restaurants was significantly cheaper. We ended up ordering the papaya salad, nam tok salad, and pad Thai noodles. When we ordered the pad Thai, they asked us if we wanted chicken or shrimp so we ordered shrimp and just assumed it would be included in the price. There was an upcharge for the shrimp, however, and my plate only had 3 pieces of shrimp in it. I thought that was a ridiculous upcharge for just a couple pieces. I also realized why the prices were so cheap once the food came out. Portion sizes are about half of what you'd typically get at another restaurant. My husband and I left not feeling full and had to go get dessert somewhere afterwards. It's definitely a good budget meal if you're looking for something cheap and quick for lunch. But I wouldn't count on coming here for high quality Thai food or if youre looking to be full. Maybe dinner portions are bigger? read more

Visiting town and needed a place with gluten free options. Someone recommended this place on the FindMe GF app. Arrived and no one but us was at restaurant. A little nervous at first. I was not impressed by a single thing and the only reason I'm awarding 3 stars instead of 2 is because the waitress was very kind and attentive. My favorite Thai spots are Thai Chili and Siamese Basil and compared to those places, the food here is very bland. I ordered a basil fried rice medium spicy and the heat was barely detectable. My 5 year old took bites and said it wasn't spicy at all. My husband tried a Thai fried rice mild and thought it lacked flavor. The Tom Yum soup didn't have much of the lemony flavor typical of the dish, either. Those opinions aside, the food was fresh and definitely wasn't terrible. It just seemed "watered down" from what we're used to. So my biggest issue was that we waited somewhere right at or just over 30 minutes to receive our entrees. The restaurant is small to begin with, there were only 3 other parties there, and the menu is limited to a few categories, mainly fried rice, curry, or stir fry. This place is a hidden gem! I have been here twice for lunch and both were superb experiences. They have bomb lunch specials that include a soup or a salad. I ordered the pad Thai both times. You can select which meat you'd like, I chose beef one time and shrimp the next. My friend got the basil chicken and raved about it. You get to choose your spice level. It came with a soup or salad, and I chose the coconut soup which was excellent! The ambiance of the restaurant is classy and has a personal feel to it since it only has about 10-12 tables. Service is fast and personable. Lunch here ranged from $10-$15 per person. Each entree came with a spring roll and a soup! Heads up on the spice level though - go two levels up from what you want. I got a medium spice level and had to pour at least five to six spoonfuls of chili paste and chili powder on to get the spice level I wanted. - Mango pad Thai: Sweeter pad Thai than you would expect. Very good but very sweet so order extra spice level if you like some more tang and spice. - Dee-U-I: Hilarious name!! Although I sat there contemplating if they intended it to be DUI or not... To start the restaurant is deceptively bigger than it initially appears. The front has seating for a few tables and the back room has few booths along the wall. The interior decor has some thought put into it. It gives off a rustic and romantic charm that was put together very nicely. The menu offers most of the options you would normally find at a Thai restaurant. They offer different dishes ranging from fried rice, salads, noodles, and curries to name a few. All of these items can be spiced up to your preferred level of hotness. They actually have an option higher than Thai Hot called Inferno (try at your own caution!). Each dish that I had tasted pretty good. Certain dishes you can really imagine the herbs and spices that went into it as you bite. Besides the food, they also offer some drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Some of these are imported like their Tiger Beer for instance which isn't served at many places. Overall, Royal Bistro, when you put into account, the price, the great service, and the food itself, it hits all marks in those categories. Now I know Thai food is everywhere these days and lots of them really do taste the same I would still recommend giving Royal Bistro a chance. Definitely worth a visit in my opinion! read more

The Larb gai, basil chicken (requested Thai style) and green curry chicken were all incredibly authentic and tasted great. I ordered carry out and found the ordering process very friendly. I first heard about this restaurant through one of my Uber Eats deliveries. The food smelled great so I was inclined to try it! The staff is very polite and the orders are always ready! I tried their lunch special today (M-F 11am to 2:30pm) and was very pleased with the overall experience. This was my first time trying Thai food and I'm hooked! I was impressed by the care put into the packaging as well as how warm it was kept. I got the Lunch Entree with the protein upgrade of Shrimp. Absolutely delicious! The rice and spices were soooooooo yummy but I wish I had been given more than (literally) 4 shrimps. The spring roll was good however it was about the size of my pinky. The vegetable soup wasn't as flavorful but it did taste FRESH. I was a bit confused as to why I was given so little (not even halfway full) but nonetheless ALL of the food filled me up and made me pleased with my lunch choice this afternoon.
