I went for dinner towards closing and we got seated and served fairly quick. This restaurant was on the Michelin guide so we had high expectations and they did not disappoint! Everything is fairly priced and portioned to share. All the dishes came out together. Every dish complemented each other and it was a balance of something sweet, savory, and sour. The only item they didn't have that we wanted were the clams unfortunately. My favorite was the Laap with fried fish, Minced meat salad tossed with toasted sticky rice powder, Chill, Fresh herbs, Wine juice, and fish sauce. It had a sour taste to it but was addictive. As well as the pork belly, it was so crispy and juicy and pairs well with the dipping sauce.

This was a really good first time trying Laotian food! From start to finish this place just hit the spot. I loved the appetizer platter we ordered because it had a little bit of everything. The crispy shrimp was super tasty and it was also my first time trying lod chong desert. Super authentic and great service!

(overdue review) Heard so many good things about Snackboxe Bistro from our GA friends so I knew my bf & I had to try it while we were in town! The laab (larb) was perfect & hit the spot! Pretty sure my bf ate it all lol. Now, the nam khao.. I was craving it really badly & was so excited to dig in but I found that the rice balls might have been fried too long? Not sure, I do like mine crunchy but it was getting stuck in our molars and we couldn't really enjoy it as much as I'd wanted to. Unfortunately it was my bf's first time having nam khao and he said he didn't want any more lol but other than that, we loved our meal here. staff was very nice!

We had a wonderful lunch today at snack box bistro. We used to eat at the location in chamblee near hmart and were sad when they left so I am super happy to have found the new location. The food was wonderful, spicy and fresh. They do the best pork belly!!! Our server was great and the dining room is cute, clean, and well kept.

Snackboxe was interesting because I feel like there were such clear tiers in the food we ordered. The khao poon, crispy fried pork belly, chicken wings and laap chicken were all delicious, and had I just had that, this would probably be a five star experience for me. The ham patties, Lao sausage, and cured pork sausage were all okay - I didn't hate them, but I wouldn't order them again. They were a bit bland and nothing special. I feel similarly about the squid on a stick - kind of a gimmick, and tastes just like slightly worse calamari imo. The Kua mee (stir fried noodles) were quite bad and tasted like stale oil - not sure if that was just a blip in quality, but I personally wouldn't order it or eat it again. The sticky rice was also very hard and came prepackaged and wrapped in a plastic baggie. I'd consider both of these to be largely inedible and actively detracted from my experience here

Lao person here! Absolutely can confirm that Snackboxe is authentic and tastes just like momma's cooking. When the Doraville location closed, my friends and I low-key freaked out because we always have random cravings for their laab salmon and no one makes it like them. Glad to know that they have another location though, and we'd gladly make the drive for it. Our go to items beside the laab salmon are the steak special, lao sausage, fried squid (the kids' fave) and Khao piek sen. There are so many more items that we want to try, so we will always be back and we highly recommend you try it out!

I'm a huge fan of the original location in Doraville. I'm bummed to see that one has closed, but glad they still have the Duluth location. I visited with my parents and son for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered the following: Iced coffee $5 Shrimp ceviche $15.60 Shrimp laap $16 Crispy tofu salad $9 Squid on a stick $10 The iced coffee was perfectly creamy and sweet. Most of the dishes were as delicious as I remembered! Full of flavor and textures. However, the laap was very salty; both the shrimp and the beef. It was not enjoyable. We also asked for the ceviche and papaya salad in the platter to not be spicy, but they were still very spicy. I can handle spicy food and quite enjoy it, but my parents cannot and they couldn't eat much of it. All in all, Snackboxe Bistro is a solid spot and I would get everything again except for the laap.

I love the food here and the service was decent. This is a nice restaurant on the end of a strip mall. It is very hard to spot but it is a good place to eat. It is modest put the food is full of flavor and you can tell they really care. No gimmicks, just great food. I ordered the Snackbox combo which is papaya salad (medium), cabbage, sticky rice, meatballs, jelly sausage, beef jerky, and spicy sausage. Everything tasted great. I want to come back over and over to try everything.

Pork Belly LAAP

I saw this place on a reddit thread and decided to try it out! Tried the crab rangoons (made with real crab inside, yum!!) and spring rolls (YUM) for starters. Ordered the pork belly LAAP per the recommendation of the waitress with some sticky rice. I had never had Laotian food but this was a good first experience!

First time here, 4.5 overall and the food was very good and authentic! Could definitely taste Southeast Asian flavors! We got the LAAP with fried fish, lychee nectar, and the sausages for a side dish. The LAAP is slightly minty, with red onion and herbs minced with your choice of meat. The fried fish was very strongly seasoned, so the herbs definitely helped with softening the flavors. My friend got the LAAP with pork belly, and the portion was massive, enough for 2 meals. Really enjoyed these dishes. Another really delicious dish was the sausages, the meat is grilled with lemongrass so you can taste it in the sausage. It was also not greasy at all, highly recommend getting these! The lychee nectar was good but nothing special, canned lychee with some sweet lychee juice mixed with water. The restaurant was pretty busy and full, but the ambiance was like most other Asian diners. Overall really enjoyed this place!

Very inviting decors inside restaurant. Good food, great service. Papaya salad mild was good, next time I will try more spicy. Crispy pork belly was named right; crispy and flavorful . My friend liked the lemongrass ribs. I had a taste and oh yes, just like the name. We also got thai tea and it was a little bit on the sweet side however very good! Extra ice is a bonus! I do want to try other salads, appetizers, and noodles next time.

This place has been on my list of "must try!" restaurants for a long time, and my husband and I finally made the hike from south Atlanta to Duluth! It was worth it! The place is small but decorated very well, and there is outdoor seating available in the warmer months! Parking is easy. The staff was all very friendly! We felt welcomed as soon as we came in, and we were treated very well by everyone. On to the most important: the food! We had the vegetable eggrolls, the curry noodle soup, and the kua mee. The eggrolls were delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and savory on the inside. My husband loved the curry noodle soup. I was surprised that the kua mee was about room temp, but it was a wonderful surprise. It was like a savory noodle salad, and I loved the cilantro and lettuce that added extra freshness. I had to take some home, and the leftovers were even better! I highly recommend this place, and we will be back!

Saibaidee ("Hello!") Since Laos, the 'Land of a Million Elephants', isn't just around the corner, it's great to find Lao comfort food that is. The owner Thip Athakhanh immigrated to the U.S. with her family as a small child. Before they arrived here, the family lived in refugee camps, having fled Laos due to the civil war. Thip grew up in a big family and learned to cook from watching her aunts in the kitchen. She learned to cook sticky rice, a Laos staple, at age 8. We tackled the delicious Lao Platter like champs. Note that the current price is $39.55 (although it's listed as $35 on the menu). Pay with cash for a discount. If you like "funky, aromatic and herbaceous" flavors, this is your spot.

Authentic Laotian Fire - Four Elephants is a Must-Hit in Flowery Branch…read moreFour Elephants straight-up delivers. This family-run spot in downtown Flowery Branch brings real Laotian heat with zero fluff--owners are welcoming legends who make you feel right at home. Kicked off with the spring rolls: crispy rice paper perfection stuffed with shrimp, fresh herbs, veggies, and that addictive house-made peanut sauce. Crispy, fresh, and gone in seconds--couldn't stop dipping. Steak naab (their Lao-style minced beef laap) was next-level: tender steak tossed with lime, fish sauce, fresh mint, cilantro, scallions, and that bold, zesty Lao kick. Spicy, herbaceous, insanely fresh--generous portions that pack serious flavor punch. Drunken noodles were straight fire: wide rice noodles wok-tossed with loads of Thai basil, bok choy, bean sprouts, green onions--sweet-savory, garlicky, with just enough heat to keep it exciting. Not a dry noodle in sight; every bite bursts with life. What sealed the deal? Trying their different sauces--house-made gems like the peanut dipping sauce for the rolls, plus the array of condiments and chili/fish sauce mixes that come with dishes. Each one amps up the flavors perfectly--sweet, spicy, tangy options that let you customize and go back for more. The staff even hooks you up with suggestions so you don't miss out. This place is the authentic hidden gem Flowery Branch needed. Fresh ingredients, bold Laotian soul, cozy vibe, fair prices, and service that's genuinely warm. 10/10, no hesitation--support this spot and get your fix soon. You'll be craving it the next day. I first discovered this restaurant while in Real Estate school at Barney Fletcher. Most evenings we tried to hurry and find close dinner options. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. It can add up to over $40 if you're greedy ordering several items like an appetizer + entree + dessert. I've eaten on my leftovers maybe 2-3X. No exaggeration! The best dish I've had is Naam Khao (crispy rice w/ fermented pork bits, fresh veggies and wrapped in lettuce) and Laos spring rolls (crunchy) . Thai tea overly sweet so it's best when watered down from the ice. Mango sticky rice is a purple color and yummy as well. Unique earthy taste, but still sweet and on par. I will drive 20-30 mins bcos I crave it sometimes. Everyone I've introduced to this place are fans on the first visit. I almost want to gate keep! lol

What I found instead felt like a small echo of what the place used to be. The food has shrunk in size while the prices have climbed, which makes the whole experience feel out of balance. I ordered the bao because it used to be the star of the show for me. I still remember the way they were fried on one side before, with that golden crisp that added texture and soul to every bite. This time the bao arrived soft and much smaller than I remembered. The flavor was fine, but the magic was missing. It felt like the memory of a painting that has faded over time. I do want to say that the staff were kind and welcoming. They suggested a hibachi special, which I was not interested in, but they made the attempt to guide my order. Their warmth was the best part of the visit. I left with a sense of nostalgia for what used to be. Maybe the menu has evolved or costs have changed, but the experience simply did not match the picture I carried with me. I hope the place finds its rhythm again, because it once held a special spot in my rotation.
