Let's start by saying ; I don't particularly like dinners!! Under duress I found myself sitting at the Yankee Clipper Diner in Beacon. The service was fantastic , with our smiling, profesional waiter Jarred. The restaurant is really the old old fashion dinner. The food served promptly, was pipping hot, delicious and copious. They come around for coffee refill or water very often. I had the Pastrami Ruben, quite the feast. My husband had the Patty melt, served rare as asked. Both came with an enormous amount of fries. The place is clean, spacious and bright. A positive experience!!!

Decent American diner food. Staff was helpful and friendly. Prices were quite good (3 entrees were under $60 after tax and tip). We ordered the California burger, Spinach Potato wrap and Creamy potato soup. Both the burger and wrap were fine but the soup was a bit too salty for our taste. Otherwise, it was a positive dining experience.

Pancakes and scrambled eggs

I was in the neighborhood and wanted some breakfast so I stopped by Yankee Clipper Diner. It looked like a cool spot to eat at. I ordered some pancakes, eggs and toast.. The pancakes were definitely delicious. I'd get them again. The scrambled eggs were.. meh.. more like a plain omelet.. Flat.. A bit burnt too. I personally think scrambled eggs should be fluffy and not burnt. Anyway, the pancakes tasted great along with the maple syrup which makes a huge difference! If the eggs were done right I'd give them a 5 rating. The service was excellent! Waiter was very accommodating and attentive. Great attitude. Always a plus. As far as ambiance, it's a nice, clean, classic/vintage looking Diner, people and families enjoying their meals while conversing. No loud music. Just a very nice vibe. In the end, if you're looking for a nice diner to grab a bite this is a great choice! Have a good one yall! -Ray

A busy Friday evening but seated right away with a party of 6. The food was delicious as always. Our waiter was great & very attentive. You are always greeted soon as you walk in. Nice size portions & reasonable prices! Found parking right in front but there is a parking lot behind as well. Located right on Main st to enjoy a walk before or after visiting this wonderful restaurant!

We walked Main St. Beacon and felt like ice cream. There's a big difference between an ice cream chain and a good diner, besides the glassware and silverware they use. We were near the diner, and thought we'd try it out. This place is a classic diner. We were given menus, but didn't notice any deserts or ice cream. We asked our waiter, Jarred, if there was a dessert menu? In a moment he brought ones over. She had the classic ice cream sundae, like the one's they served in Jahn's near Fordham Road in the Bronx. Ah, the memories it brought back. There's a typical menu and cocktails. The trendy places along Main St. come and go. This place will live on!

Salisbury steak

Straight up, I love a good old diner. Yankee clipper is one of the oldest standing restaurants in Beacon. We were craving classic Americana. Also not too surprisingly, many diners are Greek owned, as is this one, and there is a Greek section on the menu. Decided to stick with classics got Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. Also got the burger. Both dishes came with choice of salad or soup . We got the salad to start. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance is very much old school Formica counters and pleather booths etc. To the food, felt like both the burger and the Salisbury were made from the same mix. I asked for the burger on the rare side. Was sort of hard to tell by color because it was surprisingly not pink or reddish but the texture was definitely on the softer side as a more rare burger should be. The Salisbury looked better than it tasted . It is essentially a well done hamburger with gravy on top. The burger meat was not seasoned. Neither was my burger patty. The texture of the burger was good and the fries were brown and not overcooked . For roughly $25 each all in , it's not a bad price but there are so many places to choose from nearby , I would look for other burger joints if that's what you're after. 3 stars for food and 4 for nostalgia.

RECEIPT

How SAD... I find the Yankee Clipper Diner in Beacon NY ... The service has changed.... ("NOT FOR THE BETTER") The service was ("ATROCIOUS") maybe because I arrived after 7:30 pm. The waitress by the name Lisa? She was very ("ANNOYED") Lisa was asked to take my order. From the start she was very short with me. I tried too overlook the ("POOR Attitude Lisa displayed...") The food was ("POORLY SERVED") FOOD WAS ("UNAPPETIZING") DID NOT TASTE GOOD. I had paid in advance. I have pictures... I spoke to the owner or manager ("HE COULDN'T CARE LESS ") HIS ATTITUDE WAS POOR AS WELL. One can plainly understand why the waitress acts this way. The influence, the attitudes, and actions of restaurant server can depend on management. Management must not care due to the volume of people in and out. This does not mean that it's quality or good. I don't CARE if the diner receives five stars.... NOT GOOD

My fabulous patty melt

This diner is so adorable, I had to stop in! It's very retro looking and the menu was expensive, just as I had hoped for. I was in the mood for a burger so I ordered a Swiss patty melt with the Caesar salad on the side and my friend ordered a cheeseburger with a side salad. The burgers were quite delicious with a charcoal boil taste! My patty melt was perfect and nicely toasted rye bread that was grilled in butter, so delicious! Both of us were so happy we had stopped in! Our waitress was so adorable, really friendly and very patient with our questions. I love everything about this meal! I will definitely be back! I love a good diner and this is it!

The atmosphere is very fun and retro diner vibes all the way. Service was attentive and quick. Oreo pancakes were fine. Eggs Benedict was good and the hash was delicious. The breakfast burrito was fresh but lacking in flavor (I got avocado in it which was great).

Vibe: 7.5/10 Service: 8/10 Value: 8/10 Pancakes deluxe: 6.5/10 Veggie omelette (egg whites): 8/10 - also loved the potatoes and classic buttered toast! Steak and eggs: 7.2/10 - steak a little overcooked Overall: 7.53/10 (3.77/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]

We were walking thru Beacon. I love their Main Street. Looking at the different restaurants. Galleries. It had a bohemian feel We want ice cream. So we came to this diner for it. Looking at the menu. We didn't see anything from ice cream or milkshakes. We asked and our server Jarret informed us if a separate desert menu. I am ordering the sundae. Please no walnuts. He brought the sundae with extra cherries. and extra whipped cream it was delicious

Daughters, buttermilk pancakes and ham

This was my second trip to this classic style diner, where breakfast is served all day. I ordered the Copenhagen eggs Benedict, cornbeef hash on an English muffin topped with a poached egg and topped with hollandaise sauce. I appreciate the server asking would I like the hash crispy or not. Same question to my wife about her bacon. Most restaurants never ask how you want your corn, beef, hash, or bacon. The breakfast was delicious. I'll be making a few more trips to this eclectic diner.

Great spot for lunch!…read more My husband and I stopped in on our way back to our Airbnb after a long morning hike. This place is counter service, so we made our way directly to the register to place our order. Upon ordering, we were warned that it would be at least a 30 minute wait until our food was ready due them being short staffed. Although we were hungry, we weren't in a rush and truly appreciated the heads up! I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan sandwich and WOWZA! The sandwich was HUGE! I took a photo of my Gatorade bottle laying next to it for comparison (haha). I hardly ate half of it because it was so filling, however it was definitely delicious. My husband ordered a sandwich of his own (although I can't remember which one) and he was equally pleased. We also ordered a side of tots which were crispy and salty, just how I like them! My husband and I definitely could've shared one sandwich as we both don't eat a lot in one sitting, so this is something to keep in mind if you're reading this before your first visit here!! The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we chose to sit on the front patio. It was such a lovely atmosphere for lunch! Also, because we were sitting outside, they told us to come back in 30 minutes to check if our order was ready because we wouldn't be able to hear them call our name. All in all, a pleasant experience! Would definitely recommend this place for lunch, especially if you're in the mood for sandwiches.

Great food nice people…read more The meat was very good but VERY VERY expensive. Also their sandwiches are very good but very small. $16.95 got me a pulled pork but it was served on a Martin's Potato Roll, which while tasty is tiny. They're not even using the "Martin's BIG Potato Rolls" just the small regular ones. The sandwiches come with chips for free or fries for an upcharge -- But the chips are homemade and frankly way better than the fries! That said again it was good but for the price the sandwiches should be much bigger. They were dog friendly and very nice which we loved. We will be back soon!

The steak sandwich was yummy, thinly sliced cuts beef, gooey cheese and well seasoned. The sandwich would been better on roll or crusty bread over a hamburger bun though. House-made potato chips were my favorite, well seasoned and cooked just to crispy, other places tend to burn chips but here just right. The filet taco, was very small, mostly a just two bites. It's meat filling was alright, tiny diced but filled the space. The taco sauce though was fire, very savory and well seasoned, almost wish the meat was cooked on the sauce rather than salt and pepper it. Have to come back and buy some of the raw stuff for home, since a very wide selection of cuts is here I can't get at supermarket for sure

The kofta beef meatballs were nice and savory, perfectly paired with the rice and salad. The Turkish breakfast is primarily a lot of cheeses with sauces and small bites with a bread basket - would only recommend if you like different kinds of cheeses and since it is very light on its own it would prob be best to order something in addition to it. My friends and I also tried the salep tea which was this traditional Turkish drink that is very thick and creamy, has a very unique texture with a sweet flavor and cinnamon garnish.

We loved that they had a great variety of options, including many vegetarian options. I went with the egg & cheese sandwich and accidentally ordered it without the greens & sauce (whoops!). However, it was still delicious and satisfying. My husband got the avocado toast which was SUPER filling due to the hummus that was on it. He was only able to finish half of it. We also got a side order of fruit which, to my delight, was a bowl of berries! The fruit is seasonal so the combination might be different depending on what time of year you are visiting. Also, both of our coffees met our standards, which are a bit high these days. So kudos to them on that! The ambiance was absolutely incredible!!! Very well lit with a bright, welcoming atmosphere. There were only 5 different food stalls plus the ice cream stall in the very front, however only 3 of the food stalls were open at 7pm on a Saturday. This is a small town, so I get it, but I was thoroughly surprised at this because of how crowded the entire town had been all weekend (it was truly the perfect weather to be out here!). The taco food stall had some Mac and cheese that I really wanted, but he was so overwhelmed with making a large order with only one person helping him that he literally told me to come back in 30 minutes to place my order. I ended up ordering the Pimento Grilled Cheese Sandwich from the burger place, where the guy (working solo) told me it would take about 30 minutes before it would be ready. We were in no rush, and it was DEFINITELY worth the wait!! The ooey gooey cheese paired with perfectly browned Texas toast satisfied my hunger after a long day of hiking and window shopping. My husband ordered the Paneer Kati Roll + Mango Lassi from the Indian food stall. He liked the roll, however we both decided that the lassi was average at best. Additionally, they served it with ice which was a huge disappointment (**being that my husband is from India, we have standards regarding Indian food). I'm giving 4 stars because the overall atmosphere of this food hall was not the best... Definitely NOT enough seating... They didn't seem to have anyone on staff taking care of the place, so the two tables that were empty when we arrived were extremely dirty (we cleaned one ourselves). They also didn't have napkins readily available and only 2 individual restrooms, despite having a bar in the back. Also, it was SO DARK inside... Scarce lighting which was not very pleasant or welcoming, especially since the sun was shining brightly outside. There is an outdoor patio, which is great, however because the weather was nice it was completely full. Final thoughts: this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner with a group of friends, especially if no one can agree on where to go. There's a variety of options and something for everyone to enjoy!
