Our food was just okay and the breakfast took forever to come out. We had French toasts and an omelette. My breakfast potatoes also came out ice cold and had no seasoning on them at all. The platonic ideal of a diner - my favorite spot in town. Delicious food and friendly service, no matter how busy! It's often bustling, but not so busy as to be distracting or uncomfortable. A small diner on the main street. Not so fancy and not so crowded. Easy to find table. We ordered dinner special which comes with soup and salad. We also took fried calamari. They had buffalo calamari, I asked them for the regular one and buffalo sauce on the side. The soul fish with crab meat was good. The shuvo shrimp with pasta was no salt. Not sure how I've missed this diner, but I'm so glad we noticed it and stopped in, the food was good and the prices were reasonable! I have no doubt that we'll have to go back here and try some of the other things. The day we were there I was looking for a light lunch so I had a grilled cheese and fries and both were great! Service was wonderful too! I was lucky enough to find a parking spot outside, even though it was a beautiful and busy weekend in Beacon. Generous portions. Average prices. Average service. Horrible food. He ordered a bacon buffalo burger. He asked for medium. One side was well, other side was medium rare. How does that happen? How do you only cook one side of a patty? He didn't want the bacon. I insisted he still got it so I could have it. I took one bite out of it. Not worth the calories. How do you mess up bacon? It's bacon! Soft, crispy, or hard, I love bacon! The taste was gross. I don't understand it, nor can I explain it. I didn't have huge expectations so I kept it simple with spaghetti and meatballs. Even cafeteria spaghetti can make me happy at times. That's one dish I'm not that picky about. Somehow, I even hated it here. Canned tomatoes with a bland, seasonless sauce. Meatballs were tasteless and dry. What saved this place from a one star rating was the turkey cream soup that came with my meal. On the salty side, but it was creamy and tasty. Came here for lunch one Saturday afternoon about a month ago with my family. The place was pretty busy, and as expected with places outside of the city, service was a bit of the slow side. It took us a long time for us to even get waters and to eventually order, and even after we got our food (which, thankfully, came out quicker than the time it took for us to order), the server had forgotten to put in my order for a milkshake. Even still, the food was pretty solid, which is why I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of anything less. Service: Our waitress alone deserves 5 stars, and my review is greatly based on the service she provided. She was attentive, she made sure we were good multiple times, she was speedy with the request even though it was Mother's Day and the diner was quite busy. If I remembered her name I would've given her a shoutout. The whole team was friendly also. The pancakes are excellent - light, fluffy, the ideal pancake. Add the fresh strawberries and maple syrup for a perfect plate. The French toast is also very good - flavorful and rich. Both come with whipped butter, and you can ask for additional butter as needed. If you want real maple syrup and not corn syrup it is an additional $2 charge. The fresh strawberries, which can be ordered as a side item, are a great addition to the plates. The bacon is some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and good quality. The sausages are good too. The eggs are not so great - the scrambled is more like an omelette, and the over-hard came out looking like the scrambled. I've only been for breakfast so I will update this review with dinner information soon! read more

If I could give my experience ZERO stars I would. Let me preface by stating that I usually don't find myself this perturbed to spend my time writing a review, but I am all for helping others make informed decisions.. First, I called and spoke with a friendly woman (I do not know her name) and said I would like to order an egg salad sandwich on a hard roll. I would like tomato, cheese and bacon on said sandwich. I would also like fries with that. No big deal, I was starving and just wanted something quick and simple... So I collect my food and bring it to work. I open the bag and noticed that they forgot to put my fries with my sandwich. No big deal, it happens. I call and speak to another woman (not as friendly) and tell her what happened. She proceeds to tell me not to worry I wasn't charged for the fries, the person taking my order made a mistake. This is where I get confused.. I say to the woman "So you mean to tell me I was charged $13 and change for the sandwich and a fountain soda?" I was trying to find some justification as to the amount I was charged which seems excessive for egg salad. She proceeds to itemize my order as follows: Egg salad (which COMES WITH LETTUCE): $5.95 Hard Roll: $1.00 Cheese: $1.00 Tomato: $0.89 Bacon: $1.00 I said to her "isn't there an egg salad sandwich on the menu that comes with bread?" She proceeds to tell me about the egg salad club sandwich that they offer. It comes with tomato, lettuce and bacon. AND FRIES. For $11 and change. I said "why wouldn't someone offer that to me? I mean, it seems like a cheaper alternative to being itemized for every detail of an EGG SALAD SANDWICH" Now, this woman was rude the whole time I was talking to her and it was obvious that she had no interest in entertaining this conversation any further. My point in all this was if I am speaking with your employee and they don't disclose to me that every detail of what I am ordering will result in a charge and that if I order an alternative it will have everything I want for a cheaper price, why wouldn't I be frustrated? Plenty of other places do that. I would have done that! And I would have gladly taken the suggestion and we wouldn't be in this place right now. Her answer to all of this was: "We don't do that. We process your order the way you order it. We don't make suggestions, we just take orders" I could tell that this woman did not care that I was upset after realizing I got nickeled and dimed over my lunch, so I asked to speak with the manager. She indicated she was the owner, at which point I told her I would no longer be patronizing her establishment any further. Also, the egg salad was TERRIBLE. It tasted like rubber paste. read more

I've never really had anything that would make me rank this place high on my list of places to eat. The diner feel is on point, when you come you feel just like what you expect from a diner. The Clipper is a spotless modern dinner. Prices are fair and food is always good. Staff is friendly and cheerful. There is ample parking around back so you don't have to find a spot on main street. Not only does this diner have exceptional atmosphere--beautiful red booths, red tiles in the walls, and very kind service--but the food is wonderful, too. Personally, I enjoyed a tuna melt (with cheddar substituted for the American cheese, which I'm sure would have been excellent, too), the "Greek omelette," and a Vanilla Malt. It is very conveniently located, on Main Street, and will not disappoint if you know what to order! While it is standard diner fare, what you can count on here is really great service and an excellent cup of coffee... if you only have an hour before a train, this may be the place for you (small group though). The owners depending on their mood were not bad not good, but just okay on most days when we were there. i went here with my friend 3/6/17 for break between driving practice, it is a beautiful old fashion diner that is keep in great shape. all the staff was very friendly entering and exiting, i had the Louisiana which is Cajun chicken breast,cheddar cheese, grilled onion on a panini pressed whole wheat ciabatta bread, the chicken was seasoned well and juicy, the cheese was melted and onions were grilled and not chared. my fries that came with it where very fresh like my sandwich. a diner that does it right here and make it ultra fresh and fast. our waitress was very nice and attentive to us, she was a sweetheart. overall i like it here alot and so friendly and man i saw everyone there either cleaning or serving someone. if am in the area i will hit them up and i recommend them completely. read more

I used to live in Manhattan and now I live in FL. so I did not really want to leave, but they started sweeping around me (LOL) as I had to have my last bites of my Chicken Souvlaki Platter.
