This place is kind of a hidden gem. It's just off the cleaner parts of downtown Mesa. The buildings around this place look slummy or out of business, but this place is clean and has awesome food! It's a small place, but there's outside seating. The downside was that there were 2-3 different bums who would hassle you for change while you're eating, but the staff were very quick to make sure their customers weren't being harassed. Nestled away in downtown Mesa it can be easy to miss Worth Takeaway. The space is small and cozy, however there is an outside patio that supplements the cramped quarters. Street parking can be a bit of a hassle as the spaces are pretty small and force you to wait for traffic to pass before exiting your vehicle. I believe there's parking in the rear that is shared with the surrounding businesses. FOOD: The quality of the food is high. I ordered the Roast Beef w/ their House Made Chips. I was surprised to have the sandwich in front of me within 5 minutes! The bread was fluffy, meat was juicy and tender. The toppings were crisp & fresh, and the chips (a very generous serving) we're crunchy with just the right amount of saltiness. Topped this off with complimentary bottle of water and all was right with this place. VERDICT: I would highly recommend giving WORTH a try. In addition to their standard menu, they also have regular specialty sandwiches available (while supplies last) so you can have the chance to experience a unique or limited sandwich. Been wanting to try this place for awhile and the opportune came when meeting a friend for lunch. She was more inclined to try their breakfast but found out they stop serving that at 11am. Deciding what to get, I asked the friendly man at the counter what was the popular choice and he told us about their famous Crispy Chicken sandwich. They also have a weekday special which that day was a Pork Katsu sandwich that he mentioned was also very good and very easily shareable. Hearing our dilemma, a nice regular patron came up to tell us that we could not go wrong with anything on the menu, they were all good. So we decided on the special, knowing we can come back to try the regular menu. The 2 thick Pork Katsu patties was sandwiched between texas toast bread with coleslaw, soy ketchup and kewpie mayo (creamy Japanese mayo). Half of sandwich was way plenty for me and was it de-li-cious!! The only thing missing was the tonkatsu sauce, which I really didnt miss, hehe. You can choose not to have the bread and have as a bowl with greens and cherry tomatoes/or roasted sweet potatoes. They come with housemade chips (or fries for $2 more). I mean the owner posted a really long reply and vehemently advocated for her restaurant so I definitely can't knock a place down for that. The owner obviously works very hard building her relationships with other businesses and delivers sandwiches all over the downtown area restaurants. I did, per the owner request, try it again on my own (didn't take the gift cards though). Again the service was great. Original post: My sandwiches are usually soggy and messy. I work right down the street from this wonderful restaurant so I go here on almost a weekly basis. I have never had anything on their menu that was anything short of amazing. Every single ingredient on their sandwich is fresh and gourmet. They keep it inventive with their weekly specials which are always out of this world. My go to is the chicken salad sandwich bowl style, I don't even like sweet potatoes but theirs are to die for. They give out complimentary bottles of water, which from a customer service standpoint is a very nice touch. All of the restaurant staff are attentive and friendly. They just doubled the size of their dining area so the lunch rush was a little less hectic which makes it very nice. If you are ever in downtown Mesa this is the best food by far. read more

Finally was able to check out this old bookmark of mine! The place was empty when I arrived, but the kitchen was busy preparing takeout orders. WT is a very small space: a small walk-up counter where you lineup to order, which also offers goat milk caramels, fresh flowers, and t-shirts for sale; a refrigerated beverage case; one communal table with about eight chairs; and an L-shaped counter space with perhaps eight or nine high bar chairs. Be careful sitting at the communal table chairs if you have long hair-- the chair's back ate a few strands of my hair, even when I was trying not to lean on it. I considered saying something about this to the young lady helping me out, but decided to cut her some slack. Before I continue, know that the breads here are from PROOF, a local bakery, and almost everything else is made in-house. Well, "except for the mustard, mayo, ketchup..." There are Italian sodas and spritzers, local Danzeisen dairy's chocolate milk, cocktail tonics, and bottled veggie/fruit juices in the chilled case, along with free bottles of purified water.
